Did anybody enter the Disney Sweepstakes where you could win a 50 year DVC membership? Well I did and guess who won. Not me, would have been cool though. But I also told my dad to enter and guess what he didn't win either.
So I called my sister and made her enter and guess what SHE WON !!!:cool1: I just had to share the news. Most people where we live barley know what disney is much less a DVC membership.

Howdy Folks, LONE-STAR's sister and family here. We wanted to say Hi to y'all and thanks for the congrats and an especially big THANK YOU!!! to LONE-STAR. We owe our win to you and I'm sure we will all (you and the rest of our extended family) enjoy it when we are on the roof of the BLT watching the fireworks at MK for the next 50 years. We can still hardly believe that we won.Like many people we've never known anybody whose ever won anything like this, let alone won ourselves. We all love Disney world and truly do appreciate and will definitely enjoy our prize to the fullest.
Thanks again and yes is worth a Sunday dinner for LoneStar.:cloud9: "we're on cloud 9"

You know what would be a great sweepstakes prize for us campers; how about 2 weeks a year for the next 50 years at Fort Wilderness? I could get into that.

Congratulations! That's fantastic! And it's great that you're on the Dis now too!

I've got a question. Hopefully it's not too tacky...

First some background. We used to be DVC members, then we realized that for the amount of money we were spending on the monthly maintainence fees, we could spend a week at the FW campground and still have money left over to go on other vacations. So we sold our DVC (for the same amount that we paid for it) and bought a pop-up.

So, my question is when you win the DVC membership, do you still have to pay the monthly maintainence fees?

Just wondering. If it hadn't been for the maintainence fees, we would still be DVC members. We loved it for the three years we had it!

Since the value of the prize is $108K, I would imagine it includes the maintenance fees, cause the initial purchase for 225 points is what, right around $20K??

So far for what I understand Disney takes care of everything. They haven't got all the final paper work yet but they should have there DVC # with in a week.

Wow, What a great prize. Congratulations

Sad part is Disney will still make a bundle of money on all the other things they will buy while on vacation.

Wow! I love to hear when people win things!
(I'd rather hear about me winning, but that hasn't happened!...yet!)

I'd even accept a 10 yr FtWildness cabin or site+ RV prize.... even a 5 yr prize.... even a refillable resort mug! But mostly that 10yr (minimum) prize!:yay: :yay:

Has Disney actually taken care of everything? Does the figure also include an amount for the gubment's take? I believe Disney has actually done this on past giveaways so that the prize is truly free.

Found this post in a search and had to respond. We won one of the second prizes in the same sweepstakes- a trip to Disney. I forgot that I had entered so I was totally shocked when I opened the Fed Ex envelope on my doorstep. I saw that the grand prize was the 50 year DVC membership and kept wondering what it must have been like to open THAT envelope!

Congratulations!!
