I got this post ready and the other thread closed before I could hit send, so I copied the whole thing over to here! I'm glad the other one got closed. It gets confusing when there's 2 active threads.
So, not only did our pathetic country close down this week because of the snow, we are just about out of salt and grit, so they are only gritting very main roads. It is treacherous out.
Our council have not cleared the roads around us and it is 4" solid ice, and the footpaths are thick ice too. We walked(very carefully) into town yesterday and saw one older man with a walking stick fall over(he was ok), and another very elderly man with a stick trying to make his was down a footpath. A younger person went to help him. It really is very bad. People have to get out. I am so cross about it.
That's awful. Hopefully they can fix the roads fast.
Quiet night!!!:confused3 Was everybody tired?
Got busy with kids, then exercising, then tired and went to bed at a reasonable time. I'm tired of being tired all the time.
I did finally watch this week's episode. I just knew that Ben was behind taking Aaron away from Kate. Remember he tried to steal the baby from Claire on the island because they have the problem of all the babies dieing in delivery if they were conceived on the island.
I love that Jin is still alive. I didn't think they were going to kill him off. He's very popular.
Isn't it interesting that the Oceanic 6 all just happen to meet at the dock in Long Beach all together. Then you know that Desmond and family are on their way to CA....not sure of the timeframe as compared to the rest of them being there.
I love watching the previous week also with the subtitles. It explains so much more about what is going on that I sometimes don't pick up as I'm watching it. Like Eloise being the name of the lab mouse and the woman that helped Ben. She is still a big mystery.
I love Lost because there's so many layers that all connect together. Can't wait for next week to see what happens with Sun and Ben.
I love all the layers. They've got 5 of the 6 together on the dock, and they still have to get Hugo out of jail. I like the subtitle episodes, but I fell asleep watching it this week. Luckily I woke up and watched the new episode. :goodvibes
Today is the first day that my body is not stiff! I thought it would take longer than this to reach that point. :cool1:
I wanted to watch TV last night so I pulled out my stepper and handweights. My arms are sore today.
Technical question:
Just had a high school friend on facebook mention he's in town next week and wants to get together. Since he's a MAN and SINGLE....can I call this a DATE?? :lmao: :lmao:
.
call it what you want! Heck get creative and invent a new word! :crazy2:

Nan, in answer to your question on the old thread......
Well, I did kiss him goodbye at the airport the last time he was in town for a high-school mini reunion.
And I bet you a dollar I'll kiss him hello! ;)

Well, we rebooked onboard for the Eastern so got the discount, so perhaps there isn't too much of a difference if you take that into account.
Marilyn, getting a discount on the Eastern should make it less expensive than the Western.....but your Western is still lower. I remember my Western being about $500 lower than the Eastern originally when I booked it. Then I remember reading emails from DU explaining about additional charges for fuel. Now my Western is $100 more than the Eastern and I believe the price on both has gone higher than I remember them being when I booked. I will have to look back in my folder and find the emails from DU.

HI LISA.....Yes it would certainly help to get the legs higher than my body. It has to do with circulation and the heart pumping blood to my lower extremities. I think if the feet are higher than the heart, it makes it easier for all of that to happen.
I have not used a pillow to try it because I'm laying on my stomach and my lower back already has arthritis and it hurts. I think if I raise my legs higher it will hurt more. I don't know. I'll have to try it and see how it feels. Thanks for the suggestion.:goodvibes :goodvibes

I think she's Faraday's mother and she and him had a huge fight years ago (possibly over Daniel) so they are now enemies. I think she's working with Ben because she wants to be against Widmore, not because she likes Ben. I think she probably sees Ben as the lesser of 2 evils. But I could be overthinking the whole thing.:lmao:
Now I must get ready for swimming. Have fun everyone!

Well, I think she's on "the island's side" and is anti-Widmore because of his desire (or what we've been lead to believe is his desire) to exploit the islands properties. I think we'll be lead in a couple of different directions over the next two seasons on who's the good guy/who's the bad guy! Right now, we're kind of feeling on Ben's side (can you believe that!), because he's trying to get everyone back to the island to (supposedly) save the rest of the 'losties'.

It's 54F in Chicago!
We've just returned from our Saturday errands and will be going out for a walk a bit later.
There are people out in shorts and many guys are shirtless.
After acclimating arctic conditions, 54F feels HOT.
As I predicted it is also a real mess outside, particularly on the side and back of my house.
Last summer we dug the canal and then built an earthen dam across our back gate to keep the water from building up.
Well the water melting off the roof is causing havoc. We actually rolled our pants up so the bottoms would not get wet when we slogged to the side door of the garage.
There's a building lake at the bottom of our front steps. The dogs are refusing to go out.
We're supposed to have warm weather for most of the week, going up to 58F by Tuesday.
It doesn't matter though. This is the annual February thaw. It will probably be back down below freezing within a week's time.

I installed iLife '09 last night and started playing around with iPhoto '09.
The new "Faces" feature with face recognition is AMAZING. Once I trained it on a few photos, it is doing a great job labeling people in photos. I need to train it further.
I also started playing around with the new "Places" feature. I have manually started tagging my photos, but now it's made me want to start exploring cameras with GPS, or the stand alone GPS devices that you carry that then has software that synchs the GPS log with the photos, based on the date/time stamp of the photo.

OK you teckie people. Why is my e-mail not working?
I can open Microsoft Outlook, read old messages, delete messages,
play in my contacts, etc. but I can not send/recieve (so no new messages are showing up) and can't create a new e-mail.
When I hit send/receive I get "The Operation Failed". When I hit new I get "Not Implemented". Wassup with that?
frustrating....I'm going to lunch......

We have the same weather here. Gretchen had dance class and I made her put a coat over her dance shorts and leotard. We got outside this morning and she peeled off the coat saying it was just too hot.
When I started the car, the temp was 42 degrees. I guess it is all in your prospective.....I guess 42 degrees feels like summer after below zero so much!!

I received a package in the mail today from my stepmom. She sent some wool socks she knitted, and a package of something so yummy, I have to go buy a whole box of them to keep at work for snacks during the day. Pringles honey baked wheat sticks. They look like pretzels, but they're not. YUMMMMMYY! Might not be great for me, but certainly better than the Jelly Bellies or Poptarts I usually snack on at work.

OK, off to take some Excedrin and try to stop my headache before it turns into a migraine, get dressed and go pick up Tyler. That kid has lots of cleaning to do. He almost always puts his things away, but this time he left the pirate Lego stuff all over 1/2 the living room floor. I actually left it that way since he'd been playing with it for a week! Hopefully he's ready to move on to something else this week. :thumbsup2 I think I'll have him help me move things around the living room in anticipation of our new TV and bigger TV stand that we should be getting any day now, as soon as my darned tax refund shows up. It's strange, I've done direct deposit for my tax refund ever since the IRS started offering it, and I've always received it the day the IRS says, often a day or 2 early, until this year. :headache: I guess that's OK though, because all other years, I've needed it to get caught up on bills. This is the first time EVER that it doesn't have to go to bills. That's a wonderful feeling! :goodvibes

After I posted about the baby shoes, I had to go see if Stride Rite, were still in business, they are! That company must be about 1000 years old. I think Mary Todd Lincoln's mother bought her first pair of baby shoes from Stride Rite.
In my day, they were heathy orthopedic type shoes. I remember that in the first grade, each shoe weighed about 150 pounds each, and I think in place of leather soles they had planks of wood.
I think my mother had to start putting my shoes on me the night before, to allow enough time to get me laced into them. My father assured us that we would have good feet and good posture, even if it would kill us.

V and I were discussing these very tough times for our country. We asked eachother how the country actually got out of the "Great Depression". I must not have been paying attention that day in school(whats new), and can't remember the answer. I know the stuation isnt quite the same now as it was then, but can someone please edgumicate me????:confused3
I did a google search and found this:
A Slow Recovery Begins in the United States
The U.S. economy hit bottom in mid-1932. With the approach of elections in 1932, Hoover vetoed what he saw as wild, emotionally inspired pork barrel legislation that Congress had sent to him. He claimed that he favored carefully planned measures aimed at long-term development rather than "quick fixes."
Hoover lost the presidency to the Governor of New York, Franklin Roosevelt, Hoover winning 15.8 million votes to Roosevelt's 22.8 million. The Democratic Party became the majority party in the House of Representatives and in the Senate by huge margins. Despite the Depression, the Communist Party candidate, William Z. Foster, won only 0.26 percent of the vote - 102,785 votes - indicating where the Communist movement in the United States was going nowhere. The Socialist Party candidate, Norman Thomas, won nines times that amount - close to 2 percent of the vote.
Hoover left office saying there was nothing more "we can do." And when Roosevelt took office he was not sure what he would do but he was determined to do something. Roosevelt had little understanding of economics, but he grabbed some slogans that appealed to him - such as "the greatest good for the greatest number." He began by pursuing a balanced budget, as in his days as governor of New York. He cut federal salaries and veterans' aid. On the other hand, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce was demanding government action in regulating competition, and the Roosevelt administration pondered the benefits of more regulations on business and a greater partnership with business.
In his first one hundred days in office, Roosevelt was responding to crises more than he was laying plans for economic construction. First he ended the run on the banks, bringing a return of confidence in banking. In a "fireside chat" he told citizens that it was safer to put money in the bank than to keep it under one's mattress. He invoked the Trading with the Enemy Act of 1917 in order to suspend the export of gold and silver. By law, banks and individuals were now required to deliver their gold to Federal Reserve banks in return for currency. Then his advisors talked him into attempting to stimulate the economy by increasing the money supply. This included putting three billion more dollars into circulation and taking the dollar off the gold standard.
During these first one hundred days, Roosevelt decided to help the distressed farmers. Hoover had tried to help farmers by buying their surpluses, which had encouraged over-production and resulted in ruinous low prices for farmers. Instead of this and letting bankruptcies run their course, Roosevelt chose to limit the production of certain crops and to give relief to farmers who were in immediate danger of losing their homes.
Eager to fight what they perceived to be economic crisis, Democrats in Congress proposed a "share the work" bill designed to create a thirty-hour work-week and to inspire employers to hire more workers. Manufacturers opposed the bill, and Roosevelt joined in the opposition. Then, consulting with big business, Roosevelt created the National Industrial Recovery Act (the NRA) - a move intended to get more money into the hands of average working people. Industrialists supported the idea of high wages, believing that high wages encouraged people to stay on the job longer and to improve their job skills. The National Industrial Recovery Act enacted into law fixed minimum wages and maximum hours and the abolition of child labor in many industries. It gave labor unions the right of representatives of their choice in bargaining with employers, and it obliged businesses to open their books to government inspectors.
In May 1933, a government agency called the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was created to oversee development in a depressed 640,000 square-mile area in the Tennessee Valley. There, sharecroppers and tenant farmers were malnourished; and soils were exhausted, eroded and polluted with chemical wastes. Trees had been cut and vegetation destroyed. Many in the area could not afford electrical power. The TVA planned to provide the area with electrical power that was publicly owned. Republicans in Congress took up the fight of two power companies in the area, describing their position as a fight for free enterprise against socialism. The Republicans were out-voted, and the TVA project proceeded as planned, its electrical power to uplift the area, to improve flood control and to reduce soil erosion. The TVA provided phosphate fertilizers that were to revive soil in the Tennessee Valley.
The appearance that something more was being done produced more confidence, and in the three months of Roosevelt's administration - between the first of April and the end of June - the price of stocks almost doubled. Wages also rose. Big business and the Democrats favored lower tariffs, and this helped move the world toward higher levels of trade.
In December 1933, the Roosevelt Administration repealed Prohibition. But now came the dust storms across the Dakotas, Oklahoma, Kansas and nearby states, blowing away topsoil. From decades before, these lands had been broken up by plowing. In the place of prairie grasses, wheat had been grown. With the economic depression, the demand for wheat had dropped, and the price that farmers were getting for their wheat had fallen to about one-fourth what it had been. At that price farmers could not afford to grow wheat. Their fields dried up and were left unused, and winds began blowing away topsoil. Whole houses were buried in dust, and ruined small farmers began migrating to California, lured by growers there who were in search of cheap labor for harvesting their crops.
The U.S. economy was recovering, but slowly. Roosevelt's strategy of increasing wages had created a disincentive to hire more workers, especially by smaller businesses. People in small businesses were complaining that the National Industrial Recovery Act favored big business. Growers in California, meanwhile, remained ungoverned by minimum wage laws, and, with an abundant supply of labor bidding down wages, they were paying their migrant work force as little as fifty cents a day.
Meanwhile, some conservatives were complaining that Roosevelt was taking the U.S. down the road to Communism, while American Communists were opposing reform in favor of revolution and charging that Roosevelt was taking the nation toward fascism.
By 1935, unemployment in the United States had fallen from its high around 25 percent down to around 17 percent, more than three times Sweden's and still a long way from its 1929 level of 3.2 percent. While Sweden's industrial production had risen 50 percent above its 1929 level, industrial production in the United States was 25 percent lower than its 1929 level.
In 2008, Amity Shlaes would write about the Great Depression from a conservative/libertairan perspective and would describe Roosevelt's National Recovery Administration codes as "forcing businesses to pay an above-market minimum wage." She wrote that the greater power that was given to labor unions would contribute to higher wages that would "hurt corporate profits and therefore hiring" and keep unemployment higher into the later 1930s. [note]
"The Krugman Recipe for Depression," by Amity Shlaes, The Wall Street Journal, November 29, 2008.
The greater power to labor unions came on July 5,1935 with the signing into law of the Wagner-Connery Act. It established a federal agency, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which had the power to investigate and decide unfair labor practice issues and to conduct elections in which workers could decide whether they wanted union representation. It would be the view of liberal economists that workers would benefit not only from better working conditions but also that higher wages would improve the economy by creating greater purchasing power.
In 1935, Roosevelt, meanwhile, was still pursuing fiscal conservatism. There was nothing in the U.S. like the big emergency spending in Sweden and the quick recovery that brought revenues to pay back the deficit. Eventually economic recovery would come to the United States with government purchases for war production, and the end to high unemployment would come with another form of government spending - payment for the widespread induction of men into military service.

Looks like it was a combination of a lot of things that Roosevelt enacted when he became president. I asked John because he's a history buff and he said basically Roosevelt created jobs at the bottom of the workforce....laborers who built roads and bridges, etc. Then everybody at the bottom could get a job and it trickled upwards and the more they made, the more they spent.
People have to have jobs to go to. Then houses to live in and food and clothing. Those are the basic staples of life and keeps our economy going. Right now we have seen a lot of greed at the top....wall streeters and bankers are paying the top executives enormous salaries and bonuses despite their job performance and the little guy in the mailroom is getting laid off.
Roosevelt put the little guy to work so that everyone had a job. It helped towards the economic recovery.

Why are you laying on your stomach?? The time might pass more quickly if you are on your back and can look around?? Have you tried a heating pad on your back...that will help to numb the pain??
The infected wounds are on the back of the calves and I can't put any pressure on them because it hurts too much. So I have to lay on my stomach to get flat. I have not tried a heating pad, but that's a very good idea. I will check it out. Thanks.
Maybe this will make you happy!!
www.bethanycam.com I want ot open the house so badly, but I know we still have lots of freezing weather in our forecast!!
Bethany beach always makes me happy. It's the place I consider home now and can't wait until John retires and we can move there premanently. Other than DCL and WDW.....it's my favorite little spot in the world.

The Great Depression was one of my favorite areas of history in school. I spent nearly a year studying it, the politics, etc.
There were really 2 part to the depression, 1933 to 1937, and 1937 to 1941.
There was quote a bit of job creation through the New Deal from about 1933 to late 1936. Basically, economic stimulus. Roosevelt's idea was to spend the country out of the depression. In the latter part of 1936, the conservative had a bit more sway, and there was a cutback on the spending, which ironically brought on another wave of an economic slump. In some ways the second wave hit very hard.
Net net, WW II really pulled us completely out of that second cycle. Had there not been the war, the second wave of the depression might have ended later in about 1942.

I'm up again for a bit. Just got the legs out of the tub. I was soaking them in Epsom salt and water per the doctor's request. He said that will draw the fluids out and dry them up. So I gave it a try to help them along some more. All I have to say is OUCH!!!! My legs are stinging in pain right now. It must be working.
I have to tell you, even the infections on both legs look so much better. Partially because the antibiotics are working and partially because the swelling has decreased and so has the leaking. It's all good.

Shall we send the Royal Sloop to rescue you and the pups??? pirate:

They were steel toed Mary Janes and I had to have the ones with the bar in between... torture I say.... TORTURE!!!

This is amazing! My body feels 100% normal today, and I just did the workout for the 4th day in a row! I've never worked out 4 days in a row before because I'm extremely lazy and can't stand anything that makes me sweat. But I'm just that tired of being this size. So I will continue to weigh myself every Monday at Tyler's occupational therapy appointment and hopefully the scale will start going down instead of up every week. :thumbsup2 Yeah, I know, muscle weighs more than fat, but she says that when you switch back and forth from cardio to strength and back and forth during a workout it burns more calories. I have no idea if that's true, but am certainly hoping so!
I still can't do the whole workout, but came very close this time! Strength isn't a problem, it's my endurance that sucks. My huffing and puffing woke Tyler up and he came out to see what was going on! :rotfl2:

This is absolutely crazy. I usually snack all day, but I had breakfast around 10 or 11, lunch at 4, and I never got hungry again after that late lunch. No urges to snack either! CRAZY! I feel like I should eat something just because I'm used to eating all the time, but am not hungry, so I'm trying not to. Trying to fight that craving. I think it's just a habit more than a craving because I'm used to eating while watching TV.
We didn't even buy any junk at the grocery store today, except for some heart shaped cookies for a Valentine's day treat for me & Tyler to share. They're shortbread cookies with red sprinkles on top. Tyler had 2 after supper but I DIDN'T EVEN WANT ONE! Still have no urge. Makes me wonder what's wrong with me. :confused3

I hope my tax refund shows up soon so I can quit TV shopping. I keep changing my mind on what size because the sales keep changing, of course. Today I saw a 50 inch at Best Buy for the same price as a 42 inch I was considering! I'm tempted, but I think it would look stupid because my house is too small. ;)

Back from my meeting today. It was a long meeting but got some good information. Our party President was there giving a speech and glad handing everyone. One of the organizers of the meeting made sure to bring him over to our table to say hello to me, and then he joined us for lunch. Think of him as the equivalent of the new GOP Chairman Michael Steele (I couldn't quickly find the Democratic equivalency).
So as far as the "insignificant cog in the expansive Canadian Parliamentary system", the cog just moved a few notches. ;) Or at least his ego did! LOL:rotfl:
Now I get to drive for 9 hours to get to Prince George tomorrow, have another meeting on Monday and then Monday finally get home after about a week away.

Tyler wears them too. It was the only place we could find shoes with a firetruck on them! :rotfl2: He had a pair of white sneakers with a firetruck on the side and the lights on the firetruck lit up when he walked, and he had a pair that looked sort of like hiking boots, brown leather with firetrucks on them too. The boots didn't light up though.
Are they still making them to whip little feet into shape? To say Stride Rite were "sturdy" in my day would be an understatement.
I don't think it was an iceberg that sunk the Titanic. It was a Stride Rite boy's shoe floating in the water.

Oh my gosh, I just found ANOTHER 50 inch TV for the price of the 42 I was considering! It's 720p rather than 1080p, but from the research I've been doing, for my purposes 720p is perfect. From what I understand, 1080 is better if you're planning on playing Blu-Ray discs or doing lots of gaming. What I've read says if you're doing neither, then 720p is fine and cuts the cost a bit too. :thumbsup2
I'm SO non-technical oriented, so reading all this stuff has been as exciting as watching paint dry.
I'm going to go ahead and get the 50 inch! :cool1: It's not possible to have a TV too big! I can't wait! :goodvibes

:rotfl2:No, they're not that bad anymore. Now, I think they just advertise as shoes that are "good" for growing feet. I had awful ones when I was a kid too, but instead of Stride-Rite, the store was called Little Chick. Same idea, but it had a cool playroom.

So when do you think this one will end?
I only wrote about what happened in 1933, the crash happened in 1929. A major problem was the lack of anything done at that time to get things back in control. A situation that lasted from 1929 to 1933. Hoover was of the mind that it was the the place of the government to intervene, and relief should be charity and private based.
The spooky part is that the financial collapsed in 1929 was due to a lack controls. Then, very tight financial controls started to be slapped back on, to rein in the financial markets.
Many of the controls, that were a reaction to the crash were removed or relaxed the the past 20 years or so.

Brooke and I just got back from the skating rink. Before we left I wondered what the kids would be wearing and what music they would play. Well lets just say that nothing has changed. The girls were wearing striped leggings, baggy shirts with three belts on top of the shirts, leg warmers, and side ponytails that were all ratted out. While I was there they played Walk like an Egyptian, Pump up the Volume, Thriller and Madonna and many others that I can't remember. It was like I was in a time machine.

Keep up the good work. I now understand why you have to lay on your stomach. That must be hard, don't think I could do that. If you follow these strict doctors orders, how long will it take for them to be better??
The first time you struggled with this, wasn't it from an accident with the dog? What caused it to et bad again?

Well, I think she's on "the island's side" and is anti-Widmore because of his desire (or what we've been lead to believe is his desire) to exploit the islands properties. I think we'll be lead in a couple of different directions over the next two seasons on who's the good guy/who's the bad guy! Right now, we're kind of feeling on Ben's side (can you believe that!), because he's trying to get everyone back to the island to (supposedly) save the rest of the 'losties'.
Yup, and I think Ben will help get everybody back to the island and then do something awful again.

OK, you got me thinking about something else, we've chatted on here before about it.
What gives with the way people are dressing kids these days?
Its a weird world. People want to dress kids older than they are, and yet in every other aspect they want to protect them and keep them younger than they are.
Hey, I hope everyone is doing well. Its been a really rough week. I have a virus of some sort so we didn't get to go tubbing today. Oh well we can go another day.
:grouphug: hope you feel better soon. Tubing just wanted meant for you today. Hopefully you can try again on a weekend when Matt isn't on call.
:rotfl2:

OK Ian. Shannon can now blame you.
This Geotagging had gotten me really intrigued so I spent most of this evening doing some research about it.
I found some good news in that I can do it with my current handheld GPSr that I use for geocaching and some free software from Microsoft (WWMX). So I can test it out this week (once I get home - if I ever do get home at this rate!), and see how I like it and it won't cost me a dime!
But of course if it works really well then that means I will spend even more time with my pics and less time working on the house renos. Not to mention my desire to buy a Mac might have been increased as well! And that WILL cost a bit more than a dime!!
But Shannon can blame Ian - it's all his fault - afterall you know that I have no willpower where pics and geo-stuff is concerned!

Its a musical that takes place in the early 60's in Baltimore. John Travolta plays a woman! It was a non-musical movie in the 80's, which became a broadway musical, which became a musical movie! The basic premise is the chubby girls wants to star on the teen dance show. She gets on it, and is in competion with the cool girl. The cool girls mom is the station manager (played by Michelle Pfieffer) and she's always trying to promote her daughter. Add into that segregation and getting the blacks and whites together, with a bunch of corny song and dance numbers, and some humourous pokes at how things used to be, and I love it.

Hi
Olivia and I had a nice day today...
We got up 7 am and catch the buses to Glasgow as it was snowing. We thought it was not good idea but it was okay when we got in Glasgow.
Olivia went to Art Visual and she saw her friend there...
I went to meet my good friend then went to Battlefield for lunch with another 3 friends..
I was rushing to pick up Olivia but it seem far away and I got off wrong direction as end up long walking to pick her up...
I didn't realised that I got blister on my feet :confused3
After that we went back to meet my friends for wines and snack and catch up the news...
We missed the bus and wait another 15 mins:scared: , got back home safety...
I feel worn out now... (must be my aged):lmao:
Scottishwee35
Hi Deborah. Glad you had a nice day. Sorry about the blisters and feeling old though!!
OK, you got me thinking about something else, we've chatted on here before about it.
What gives with the way people are dressing kids these days?
Well, not a way that parents dress their children, but there is a growing 'trend' for young girls to go out in their pajamas. There was a whole thread on a UK board about it. They didn't mean the quick trip to the garbage bin etc, they meant girls in their PJ's, Ugg boots, short jackets, orange fake tans, full make up and hair done, going off to the malls!!! Seems it is very fashionable.:sad2:
Thanks Ian... :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: Last night turned out to be a very bad night for me pain wise... I knew you'd keep an eye out for us... Thanks friend...
I'll be back later to chat... :wave2:
Sorry about your pain and bad night Michelle. You could do with getting to a warm place for a while.
:rotfl2:
Remember Holly - make sure you take a day off each week for your body to recover.

Hey Ken, there are just very few people I can talk to about this. You should be flattered that I PM'd you.
Sukie doesn't understand toasters (how do they "know" when the toast is ready) and things like scanners and fax machines.
I had thought you might be able to use your Garmin. In fact I thought you were already doing it.
I might be popping for the Amod later today. I have really become intrigued because of iPhoto '09 and Places.
Regarding a Mac ... Hmmm. There are still rumors (rumours) that a Quad Core is coming out this spring, except it might be in the 24" iMac and not the 20". It is also rumored (rumoured) that it will cost the same as current 24" iMacs. The 20" are rumored (rumoured) to continue to have the Duo Core.
I suspect that they might be timing it with the release of their next version of the OS, called Snow Leopard.
Snow Leopard will not have very much that is visible to the user, but under the covers will have BIG performance improvements and be able to really utilize the Quad Core. It will deliver HUGE performance boosts (over the already peppy OS).
However, a Quad Core really only becomes valuable (or so I think) for processing intensive tasks, like video rendering, graphics manipulation, and other higher end tasks.
Sukie has my older, not under warranty anymore, non-Intel based, 20" iMac.
IF, Apple comes out with new machines, the plan (not based on any sort of financial reality) is to transition Sukie to my 20" Duo Core, and get myself a 24" Quad Core.

I am back from my WW meetings. I had about 10 new people join today, and my numbers are up, so that's good.
It's in the 40's today but is supposed to go up into the 60's by Tuesday. It's just a teaser before the arctic weather returns.
Last night we had our Netflix night and watched "Greenfingers," A British film with Helen Mirin. We both really liked it. Tonight I think we're watching, "Introducing Betty Paige."

Well, I go out for a couple of hours, come back and presto, expecting to be delighted and amused.
I should never get up my expectations.
I took a bit of a walk, well about 2 miles or so.
It amazes me that even though it has been above freezing for 2 days, how much snow is still around and piled up. It's just an indication of how much we had.
I think I'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon reading.

we have broken open Wii Fit. Not such a great day...Me, Molly and Willie are onthe edge of overweight. Of course we knew that but still....:sad2:
I don't think the kids really got what I've been talking about when I tell them to make better food choices, maybe this will help in that regard.
So I'll see ya in 6 months when I can raise my head from shame again :sad2:
btw, Paul and I bought our tree yesterday. He is trying to get it planted. Sadly the stump was not ground out enough so he is now using a chain saw to cut the old root. I'm glad we are finally getting the tree in the ground. It's a shame that our tulips are getting crushed to make this happen :sad2:
I'll take a shot once it's done

Its me and my sister and I think my aunt , standing with my Grandma in front of a cool old car from England. It was a Humber Super Snipe. Big ole' red leather seats, wooden dashboard, pull out wooden tables in the back of the front seats. Poor mans limo in England.

Finished supper a bit ago, watching a bit of Lady & the Tramp. Tyler's about to fall asleep, so probably in about a half hour we'll start reading his bedtime book.

That's the only place we shopped for the kids when they were babies. It is common out here. I still buy Brooke some sandals there sometimes. Ethan won't touch them but he is a boy and although his shoes cost A LOT more than Brooke's, she has 25 more pairs than her :lmao:

Not only is Stride-Rite in business but they make great age appropriate shoes for little girls. I was always able to find Molly a pair of patten leather flat black there. Everywhere else seemed to think that 8-9 year old girls should have heals, but not this mama....
Willie never liked their shoes either btw...
:thumbsup2 I should have just copy and pasted ;)

The repeal of Prohibition helped the economy a lot and the crime level. It brought the money back to the country and took it away from the gangsters and bootleggers.

(must be my aged):lmao:

don't get me started. you know I'm not "that" mom. I think there are lots of reasons for the problems of which you speak, mom/dads tha don't care because they are self-absorbed mostly at the top of the list would be my suspicion.
Some moms would think it is bad to let their son where flip flops with a tux :lmao: :lmao:

Well, not a way that parents dress their children, but there is a growing 'trend' for young girls to go out in their pajamas. There was a whole thread on a UK board about it. They didn't mean the quick trip to the garbage bin etc, they meant girls in their PJ's, Ugg boots, short jackets, orange fake tans, full make up and hair done, going off to the malls!!! Seems it is very fashionable.:sad2:
They do all that work with the make up and hair and then wear their pjs? That is crazy. Are the pjs provocative?
