Good news to bring us this morning Michelle!! We will continue to send good thoughts down from here!!

Hi Woody! Good to see you again! I am envious and jealous.

We managed to get all packed last night for DL. I still have some issues with my electronic gadgets but that will work itself out. We have our suitcases packed in teh bedroom and the kids still don't know. However, we aren't sure about Shaelyn. We think she suspects something but isn't saying anything.

Shannon and I are still debating about when to tell them or even IF to tell them. Shannon thinks we should wake them up (at 5:30am on Saturday) with "Good morning, who wants to go to Disneyland?" To see if that gets them motivated to get going that early in the morning. Part of me wants to tell them in the car on the road somewhere. And another part of us doesn't want to tell them until we are there or they start asking questions we can't answer without telling them.

Such a quandry ....

Oh and before I forget ...

Yesterday afternoon it was -31C with the windchill.

This morning I wake up to -29C (-20F) without the windchill factor.

Anyone wanna come up for a winter visit? V, still cold down there?

I have no time to read any posts, but just want to drop a message before I forget. Those of you doing the back-2-back September cruises (and those of you doing just the first week), my co-worker Jan that I sometimes mention when she's off on her many cruises is going to be on that first week with you! She posted over there recently, saying that she's my co-worker, so be nice to her! She is a riot! She's a laugh a minute and I wish I could cruise with her sometime. :goodvibes So be good to her! Oh.....by the way.....her DIS name is JanDave.

The Queen Mum is home...

And she was yelling at all the crappy drivers on the roads and in the parking garage... so that means she's back to normal...

Stress test went fine.... other than her heartbeat is sometime a bit rapid (I know... Sukie will say she was thinking about him...) and normal heart deterioration for her age... she's good. She has to follow up with the cardiologist and have one more test, but they say it's just to check her arteries in her neck.

The royal fast has ended - the kingdom can now stop eating jello in her honor...

I told her of all the pixie dust and prayers... she appreciates them immensely... :grouphug:

Now I'm off to negotiate dinner...

Busy day here.

Watching the Canucks play against LA now.

Ahh I'll be in LA in a few days now .....

And now for your Canadian joke of the month.

This is a commercial for Timmy's (Tim Horton's*) that is currently running.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_gw3NXiXQY

* Tim Horton's is a Canadian coffee and donut shop that is even more popular than Starbucks in case you didn't already know that. Many say that Epcot's Canada pavillion is incomplete without a Tim Horton's.
Tyler's addicted to Tim Hortons bagels. And I love the Timbits! They're so cheap and yummy!

Greetings all... Thank you all for all the kind thoughts, prayers and Pixie Dust... it helped me get through today... :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Just got back from the hospital...

I am pleased to report that the Queen Mumprincess: is resting comfortably...

She is MUCH better than when I left her last night.

The Migraine broke about 3 am... The cardiologist was in to see her, so was PT and OT (she passed all of their quizzes... you know.. touch your nose, etc...) She had an ultrasound to which I proclaimed "Look...it's a BOY!!! (the tech laughed...) She is on a liquid diet and is NOT happy because the crap they're giving her (ices, jello, ginger ale, tea) is NOT the liquid she'd rather be drinking... I promised her a very fruity tropical drink.... asap... :cutie:

Seriously...

They think that she is having fluctuations in her blood pressure from when she is laying down to sitting to standing... The collapsing that she had (and she doesn't remember any of it... ) is from a Vagel syndrome where you get so sick and you're having the dry heaves (sorry...TMI) and it's a nervous system response - you faint and then you regain consciousness within about 20-30 seconds... (of course those around you think you're dying and freak out... (yeah... that was me... )

It's been a rough one... pretty scary.. first "big" scare I've had with her and I hope it's pretty easy to treat. We will find out...

I joked with her that Bungee Jumping is is now out and that next time I mention the Grand Floridian, she doesn't have to pass out to the extent that I have to call 911...

On a brighter note... the annual Ice Jam has formed around the railroad bridge on the Mohawk River (Erie Canal) which means that Jumpin Jacks will probably be under water by this time...um... Wednesday night...:confused3 i It's sort of an annual tradition... flood the place and open it up very quickly cause there WILL be a line around the park for the first Jack Burger... (in just 17 days!!!!    )

http://i560.photobucket.com/albums/ss47/mblauzon/0310_flooding_1_.jpg

Ok... enough.. I have to go get some sleep...
Michelle, glad mom's doing better! I've never heard of that before, yikes!

Good Morning All!

Last night I went to a dinner party with people I used to work with when I first moved (for work) to Chicago. It was only about 8 for dinner, but I know most of these people going back to 1983, when I was 27 years old. Many I haven't seen since about 1991 or 1995.

I was really reluctant to go, but ended up having a great time.

Glad you had a good time! :goodvibes

Right after school we went up to the karate school for picture day. We get the pictures in about 6 weeks, so I can't wait to post it here! Turned out so cool!

Well, off to get dressed. We're going to a mom/son dance tonight! I've already informed work I'll probably be an hour late or maybe more. LOL! Since he's usually sound asleep before 7:30, and the dance is from 7-9, I'm sure he'll be difficult to wake up tomorrow! :goodvibes

Hi Holly. I forgot the kids had spring pictures on Friday so thanks for reminding me :thumbsup2

Tyler just informed me this morning that he already had his school pictures taken. :headache: But that's OK because I already bought them in the fall. For some reason they do pictures 2 times, and they're 2 different companies. That's just crazy!

HollyTyler

Holly, you and Tyler have fun tonight.

We did! :goodvibes I don't dance, but forced myself to for his sake, but only had to a couple times because he was having a great time dancing with a friend from scouts. I pointed out to the other boy's mom that they were slow dancing together during one song and she just cracked up laughing and said, "Um...well....maybe they're an item now!" :rotfl2: So I got to chat with her and stuff myself with cookies and punch. A photographer was there to do free photos of everybody. Good thing we did that first thing because somehow Tyler's cup of punch wound up all down his front. He's never done that before and freaked out over it! He never gets food or drinks on his clothes, so it was the end of the world. ;)

Anyway, it was fun (I guess), and I'm glad it's over.

Way too tired to keep my eyes open. Stayed up until 2am last night and the night before working on getting all my pictures off my old computer. The only reason it's taking so long is because I'm organizing them at the same time into folders by month. I hate having a bunch of pictures stored individually in a bunch of different locations, so I'm picking them from all places and putting them all into their correct folders. I'm more than halfway done though, so tomorrow I'll surely finish. Then I've labeled each memory stick so I'll know whats on each one, then I have a small zippered pouch for the memory sticks. I'll feel fully organized when I'm done and it will be so much easier to find things. :thumbsup2

So.......Goodnight all!

OK, still here, but after seeing Ian post how he's having a 64F day, I had to check my weather report because it's COLD here. No such luck for us, we'll be about 30-40 degrees colder here for the next week. Ian, you've had quite a few warmer days, when are you going to send it my way? ;)

OK, really going to bed now. And I've decided I'm NOT setting my alarm for tomorrow morning. I've already told work I'll be late, so I'll get up when we get around to waking up. ;)

Hope everyone's doing well. I'm going down to Scottsdale tomorrow night to dog-sit for a week while my sis is in Hawaii. Not much else is new with me.

No, my neighbour cross over from my house but I thought his car window was smashing becasue no window...

Later, I looked out the window, realised that neighbour forgot to shut the window and now there is a window up...thank god no smashing it...

Because two weekend ago, I was away to Perth and drove home to find out that my neighdoor's car two windows had been smashing - for no reason.... Terrible

As far as I can see:

1. It was easy to implement for Disney
2. It carries relatively low overhead for Disney
3. It was invented to juice more money out of people.

What you get from what I see:

1. A quarterly magazine subscription for $75
2. Paying for the privilege of buying stuff from Disney

They call it a "community," but based on their logic that would mean:

1. Everyone who shops at the supermarket I go to is a "community"
2. Visa card holders are part of a "community"

In my day, people who paid for such things were called a market, not a "community," it's just a ploy to use a cozy name for a market segment.

Great summary, Ian.
Disney is fantastic at marketing. This one seems worse than the paving stones to me. We thought a lot about doing the paving stone before we did it, and I was very hesitant to do it especially since we aren't there very often to see it. But I like it, and I really like the wooden version we have to display at home.
Its too bad they made it so expensive, if they cut the price in half, then I'd feel it was worth checking into.

I read a few pages before I conked out last night. Michelle, I'm so glad to hear that Barb is on the mend! Please give her a  from me!

Ian, I enjoyed reading the history and meaning of Purim. Interesting that there is a command to get drunk! Glad that recovering alcoholics get an exemption!;) BTW, have you checked out the video podcast "Old Jews Telling Jokes?" It's hilarious!

I cracked up at the stories of the money-conscious little boys. You could have been talking about my brother...he was ALWAYS looking for ways to hustle a buck. We think my nephew, Dylan, is the reincarnation of my brother sometimes!

Very exciting about the names of the new ships. I hadn't heard that news. I told you my TV is cutting into my web time!:rotfl:

I'm very, very bummed that I won't get to see you, Ken, Shannon and girls.:sad1: I'm dying for a trip to DL and it would be so great to see you (and everyone else at the DISmeet).

Congrats, Deborah, on the new car!

One of the features of my new TV is that I can load photos, movies and music on a jump drive and plug it into the TV (there's a USB port) and then look at them. I tried it with some of my cruise pics--it was soooooo cool to see everyone! I also made a DVD of the slide show I made of our sailaway (A Magical Beginning, I think it was) and watched it on the big screen. It brought me to tears--mostly happy, some bittersweet. We really had SUCH a wonderful trip, didn't we???:cloud9:

Should we plan to be on whichever ship they bring over to the west coast for a redo of our cruise?? It does give us lots of time to plan (and SAVE UP)!

Their TV is probably the same size as mine, with a great surround sound system. The problem is, I can't figure out/remember how to work their universal remote--it's like a small computer (to me). My condolences to you, V. I made that vow when my father died in 1983 at the age of 60. Now I'll be 60 in just a couple of months...I've been thinking about that a lot lately. My brother was only 53 when he died. Life can change in an instant. One thing I try to remember to do is express my appreciation to people out loud, in words, instead of just thinking it. V would feel warmer if she was on here with us, right? (she's complaining about the cold temps in Florida)

I am still back on Friday when you posted this.

I may look signed in here or on FaceBook but that does not mean I am actively reading, I leave the computer on all the time.

Hoping everyone is well. Glad Barb is home, I will figure that out eventually.

  to all

back to reading--I am procrastinating--there is a report I should have done last week that I HAVE to do tonight, but I would rather DIS and FaceBook instead.....

Mine didn't. Got one for $9.95 just now on Amazon.

It's supposed to. You might want to contact Amazon's customer support. It says in the description "Includes a high-capacity Sanyo brand lithium-ion battery." I believe when I read about it in the warehouse listing, it said nothing about it not having all of the parts.

I would really take it up with their customer support.

Kisses and hugs to you baby  The shock of hearing it. The shock of not knowing sooner.

It's so hard when you hear news like that. The other day, when I got together with my colleagues they told me that someone I worked with (hell shared a desk with) when we worked abroad, died in his sleep. He and I were the same age.

Here's a conversation I just had with Shaelyn:
Shaelyn: Mom, are you and Daddy thinking about going to Disneyland?
Me: yup, one day we'll go there again
Shaelyn: But what am I doing next week since I'm not going to daycare?
Me: I can't go to work next so you kids are staying with me.
Shaelyn: awwww then I miss skating and swimming with daycare.
Me: don't worry, we can go swimming
Shaelyn: but what about skating?
Me: we'll see, I don't know exactly what we'll do, maybe we'll go to Prince George.

So, Shaelyn has successfully been diverted, and I didn't actually lie to her :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Ken wants to videotape their reaction, and I'm sure Shaelyn will be excited and a little annoyed, but she'll see the humour (she likes 'tricking' people - so she'll see this as a little trick!)

Yes, I'm sure Shaelyn will be way too excited to be annoyed with you!

I had a great day, thanks for asking. It was very windy here this morning, but my daughter and I went for an hour walk together and chatted the entire time :thumbsup2 Samantha called me at noon to say she was not feeling well, but I could still come and get Serenity if I wanted. Of course, I wanted! So I picked her up at 2:00 had her here for about 6 hours. A friend of mine stopped in to meet her and we had a nice visit too. Serenity even shared some big hugs with her too, she's been a little shy with others lately so I was glad she was her usual loving self! My friend has been battling cancer for quite some time now, and Serenity's hugs brought her to tears, in a good way, if that makes sense at all? Once again, I am exhausted, but happy.

One of my favourite memories of Shaelyn and my grandmother, is when Nana was in the hospital at the end, I took Shaelyn to visit her and Nana would be smiling with tears in her eyes when Shaelyn would hug her and jabber at here. Time to go read a story to my girls and get some studying done. Good night folks.

Oh, I did my new Hip Hop Abs DVD today. One thing I didn't like is that it's 40 minutes long. Another bad thing about it is that the music overpowers the guy's voice so I can only pick up a few words now and then. BUT, it's really fun to do! I had no problems doing the whole thing though, so I don't feel like I had a workout. Maybe I could alternate and do that one on the days my knees are sore or when I'm just too sore overall from the evil Biggest Loser workout.

I also bought another Biggest Loser video, and it's weight loss yoga. Doesn't sound like it should be too hard, but I'll try that one tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Mom's doing much better. She's glad to be home. Slept good last night (after her feast...) We have to get her to drink more water (I got 3 cups into her today... she's supposed to get up to the normal 8...) (they think she may have gotten too dehydrated and then got the migraine)

I told her her convalescence is over as of tomorrow... she gets to load up the dishwasher... (with the whole 4 plates we use... :rotfl: )

She has to call for the dopplar test on her neck and that's about it. Everything else is fine.

She's getting very good at telling everyone that she scared the you know what out of me :scared: ... but that it was a good thing for me to have called 911.

so have you decided how to tell the girls???

On the magazines - ask Shannon, if we do it they will probably be hers. But if we do order them, they might get encased in a humidor.

As for the girls, I understand there is a post on here from Shannon about that. But I think it will probably be Saturday morning to get them moving at 5am.

There's your answer Michelle about borrowing our copies. Apparently we won't have copies to borrow. Good more money that can go in the cruise fund!!

Jsut watching sportscentre and then it will be sleepy time for me too.

It was a busy day at "work" today. Had a government meeting for my actual day job this morning (file review for our contract). Then it was off to the campaign office to get computers (10 new Dell laptops) set up and ready for the phone canvassing this evening.

Trained another 8 ppl today for the phone canvassing on the campaign. It was hit or miss with a few of them. I don't understand why ppl volunteer to phone when they don't want to do the phoning?? Had a couple of those tonight and I'm not sure how accurate the data they calculated really is. Both seem like they would be great at data entry or something else but not phoning. But that's what they signed up for tonight. :confused3

I'll have to analyze the data tomorrow and figure it all out.

Well, there we go. All caught up.

Took the van in today to get a check up $110. Told me it needs a tune up for $282. Apparently we've still got the original fuel filter in the van - afte 137,000kms (85,127.85) so I guess it was due.

Then we found out we need new breaks. Originally we were quoted $55 for those, but then when they went to fix those it was apparently worse than they thought so it is now upwards of another $300.

This trip is getting more and more expensive and we haven't even left yet.

Hi Friends!!!

Welcome Back Marilyn!

YEAH Barb is home safe and sound and Michelle can breathe again!

Happy Birthday Month Jan!

YEAH Only 2 more days for Ken and Shannon and girls to begin their adventure!

I was MIA again due to having to take the vicodin after the last doctor visit. I'm all better now.

I have some extremely sad news this morning.....I have to cancel the second week of my B2B in September. John can't get the time off approved from work. The only way we can do it is if we fly down and get directly onboard and then fly home the minute we get off. I don't want to do that. I need time before and after cruise. So we elected to only do one week cruising.

The job scene is getting scary. John worked mandatory overtime last night and will not be getting paid for it.....no money.....he gets comp time instead. They cracked down on the vacation time off too. He had no problem getting off for the PC cruise and we did some days before at Cocoa Beach and a week after in LA and Vegas. Times have changed. Fortunately he has a union and seniority.....he just passed his 17 year anniversary of working there. They would have to lay off a lot of other people before they could lay him off.

We're all feeling the crunch of this economy. I'm so sorry that we won't be doing the B2B this time. Now I have to go and change my car rental and hotel reservations.....fortunately I didn't buy plane tickets yet. We're flying down and back this time. It's only $180 per person round trip and we can go out of our local airport in Allentown right into Sanford/Orlando. We prefer smaller airports if we're going to fly.

Thanks Holly.....well I'm still doing the Tortola cruise in Sept and there's lots of people from here on that one. I just wanted to see what it was like to not have to get off the boat. I was really looking forward to that. Oh well. At least I get to go on the Tortola cruise.

Hey, I can't wait to see the pictures of you and Tyler at the dance!!! So glad you had a good time.

Sorry you won't be spending the changeover day onboard with us Deb. We might not be able to do thi second cruise either if the exchange rate doesn't improve, but we have airfares paid, so we would still have to get accommodation in Otlando or somewhere else.

Yes, I think the downturn in the economy is beginning to bite more and more. I'm sorry about John's work rules etc, but at least he has the job and as you say not likely to be laid off anytime soon.

Hi Marilyn, so great to chat with you again here.....I really missed you while you were away. Yes, the economy is definitely affecting my Mickey time and I'm not happy about it.

Fortunately John does still have his job. It could be much worse....no Mickey time at all.

Since you already have your flights booked, it would be best if you could just stay onboard. Hopefully the exchange rate will improve by then.

I just cancelled and rebooked the hotels and car rental....the hotel prices are the same but the car rental went way up. Oh well. I'll keep checking back to see if the price drops as the time gets closer. In the meantime, I booked at the higher rate.

I would think that all the rates would go lower in this economic climate. Guess not.

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Ouch so sorry to hear about that Deb! I know how much I hate cancelling vacations because I get so prepped for them. But in today's world we all must do what we must.

I know as a manager the person who approves vacation time I absolutely hate saying no to any request, and even worse when I have had to cancel someone's vacation time due to events occurring within the business (yes I have had to do that on occassion). It is a difficult thing for all involved.

But we will get out of this and back to "normal" - whatever that is.. ;

Close enough to all of it. Only 6 more pounds and it's all back. I haven't been doing the workout every day, but have been 3-4 times a week. In some ways we are kinda lucky here in Canada. Our exchange rate with the US as far back as I can remember, has mainly stayed the same (about $1.25 CDN to $1.00 US). Around the time of the PC cruise the CDN dollar creeped up to be either close to on par or even slightly ahead of the US greenback. Since the "recession" the CDN $ has fallen back to what we are used to it being ($1.25/$1.00). So the exchange rate, while nicer before for traveling, isn't really much of a factor for us because we are used to this current rate.

Plus with a lower exchange rate it helps our exports to the US. Some of our exporters were feeling the pinch when the CDN dollar rose so much before.

Very cute - can't wait to see the video of the "reveal" :goodvibes

Glad you had a nice visit with Serenity! I understand what you mean about "good tears".

One of my favourite memories of Shaelyn and my grandmother, is when Nana was in the hospital at the end, I took Shaelyn to visit her and Nana would be smiling with tears in her eyes when Shaelyn would hug her and jabber at here. Shaelyn was only 15 months old, and her middle name is Marie after Nana.

Time to go read a story to my girls and get some studying done. Good night folks.

Well it's just not going to be this year. Maybe we can do a back to back next year....Oh, we're doing the Christmas cruise....that's already very expensive so it won't happen next year. Oh well.

We took the grandkids to WDW one year while they were young. We told them that we were taking a road trip out of state to see a friend of Pops. We fed them a big dinner very late and loaded them into the car to drive overnight. When they woke up in the morning they saw Mickey signs on the road and screamed when they realized where we were. We do have pictures somewhere???? We never lied either because John did meet up with a friend from work who happened to be doing Universal at the time.

I've been wanting to take a Monday off work and take Tyler on Amtrak to Chicago (leaving Saturday afternoon if Amtrak's schedule works out for us) and take him to the Natural History Museum. He'd love it! I remember my mom taking me there often when I was a kid, as well as the Museum of Science and Industry, and many other places there. We went pretty often! :thumbsup2

Yep 365 days of the year. You do know that we never take our snow tires off except to replace the studs. We ONLY sell -40 antifreeze up here too. :) Open-toed sandals up here are called "SNOWSHOES".

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think I have a reputation on here ....

I hated doing calls... but I had a crush on a cute politician... and the rest is history... the politics... not the guy...

So... it would have been cheaper to fly...

But... the family is precious.. so take care of it all!!!

Well, I guess I should sign off.

Which means it is my responsibility to say to Deborah and Marilyn:

http://images.zwani.com/graphics/good_morning/images/7.jpg

(that was correct, right Michelle?)

Apologies in advance, but it was in a magazine celebrating St. Patricks Day, not anti Irish.

Chance Meeting

A man stumbles up to the only other patron in a bar and asks if he could buy him a drink
"Why of course," comes the reply.
The first man then asks: "Where are you from?"
"I'm from Ireland," replies the second man.
The first man responds: "You don't say, I'm from Ireland too! Let's have another round to Ireland."
"Of course," replies the second man. Curious, the first man then asks: "Where in Ireland are you from?" "Dublin," comes the reply.
"I can't believe it," says the first man. "I'm from Dublin too! Let's have another drink to Dublin."
"Of course," replies the second man. Curiosity again strikes and the first man asked: "What school did you go to?"
"Saint Mary's," replies the second man. "I graduated in '62."
"This is unbelievable!" the first man says. "I went to Saint Mary's and I graduated in '62, too!"
About that time in comes one of the regulars and sits down in the bar. "What's been going on?" he asks the bartender.
"Nothing much," replies the bartender. "The O'Malley twins are drunk again."

You know, you guys are going backwards in the age looks department.

You both look younger now.

Speaking of which, the dinner party I went to on Monday, there were some people I had not seen since 1991 and others since 1995. Everyone was telling me that I looked younger than I did 17 years ago. They asked me if I was Benjamin Button.

I personally think that losing 70 pounds (31.8 Kg) might have had something to do with it.

:sad1:Deb, I'm sorry you won't be sailing with Sara and I. Glad I'll still see you on the Tortola cruise though. We are all having to make some tough choices these days
