I've been reading through the thread regarding what bag you carry and it got me to thinking about what exactly I would need to carry into the park. It will be me, DH, DD (13) and DS (5). DD will carry her stuff as she plans to tour the park with a friend but I will be stuck carrying everything for me, DH and DS. What do you take in the park with you?

Camera
sometimes camcorder
PAIN RELIEVER!!!:rotfl:
bring in our own bottled water
money
small first aid kit
and for my son, his autograph book and pen

i try to keep it limited and prefer not to carry a boatload of stuff around.

we take park tix, wallet and a bottle of water on a lanyard and nothing else. (well maybe a small pocket sized digital camera) I hate carrying gear through the parks and dealing with the bag check at security

I carry as little as possible. Wallet, keys, admission card, room card, cell phone, plastic bag, touringplan, DW usually carries the camera because she really enjoys taking pictures.

I haven't been to WDW since 1996.....but I plan to take the following in whatever bag I end up with:

Digital Camera + extra AAs (nothing like having battery die right when you spot your favorite character, etc)
iPod (its already loaded with the eGuidestoGo iPod WDW guide)
Hand Sanitizer
travel packet of Kleenex
Sunglasses (a place to stash for indoor rides, rather than around my neck)
Wallet
Ticket
Autograph Book & Pen
Poncho
either a small notebook or a very small binder with a list of rides I want to go on and other attractions + for writing down merchandise #s for items I can't buy at the time.
Park Map
Probably a snack of some sort (small bag of peanuts or trail mix or something)
Small tube of sunblock
Bottle of water
Something to amuse myself during long queue lines, like my handheld Hangman game or something)

I only bring the following:
Camera
Money
Cell phone
Room Key

the less you have, the easier it is to keep up with, and you can always go back to your hotel to get needed stuff, just make sure you prepare well!

I definitely fall into the minimalist camp. My DW and I refuse to carry bags, because we don't want to wait to have them checked (though this is much easier since we don't yet have any kids...) Anyway, we carry:
Small digital camera
Cell phone
Wallet
Lanyard for KTTW card
Park Map

DH here, I carry nothing :rotfl: My wife carries everything including ME. :woohoo: But I know she loves me.

My list is a little hilarious - but I always seem to be the one everyone comes to for "stuff"... so here goes... prepare yourself! :rolleyes1

I was *just* there, and in my Heys Travelmate I carried:

5-6 tea bags (free hot water at any place that serves coffee)
4-5 drink mix tubes
2 neo packs
a small selection of bandaids
2 single pack Pepsid
4 Pepto tabs
Allergy meds & ibuprofen in a little two compartment plastic pill thingie
Bonine (anti-motion sick - has never made me sleepy)
2 sharpies
Teeny self-contained eyeglass repair kit - one of those tiny screwdrivers with the extra screws.... I had this in my bag as a fluke one year, and the woman behind us in line actually lost a screw on her very necessary prescription glasses (on her first day in the parks) and I was able to repair it - voila! It was fabulous and now I always carry it.
teeny container of eyedrops (contact wearer, gotten crap in eye on ride in past, was huge problem, always have this now!)
teeny mirror (came with bag)
Casio camera - EXLIM - it's pretty small
extra SD card
Cell phone
Lesportsac Olivia pouch with money, change (the kids always want pressed pennies - who am I to argue?), one CC, ToW card & KTTW
Ticket!!
Teeny LED light
Gorillapod (flexible, nearly weightless tripod - I love timed group shots!)
Teeny nail file
Excel spreadsheet itinerary - one page will have all confirmation numbers, phone numbers, calendar of what we have planned to do when including park hours & EMH for every day we are there (that is instantly updated once there to reflect actuals... I've not yet had any online source exactly match what happens with hours in the park over the course of the week  )
SIGG water bottle
Small caribiner (can be used to instantly strap something to something else and weighs nothing)
Sunglasses (or room to put them into bag)
Antibacterial lotion & teeny container antibacterial gel
Chapstick & one lip gloss
Permanent backs for pins & the little opener
Protein bar
Additional Snack - usually two bags of fruit snacks
Park map/current times guide procured at entrance

I *think* that is it! My goodness, it should be.

Basically, if you are in the park, and you get motion sick & a headache, which causes you to fall down, skinning your knee and knocking off your glasses which lose a screw on a cold day, I am your girl.

In the warmer months I would add a very small tube of sunscreen to the list.

Seriously - if you are in the park, and you see me, and you need something, chances are I'll have it, or will be able to get it. :rotfl:

Also - this is all without expanding the bag. Sure the bag has a little heft to it - mostly if the water bottle is full, but I have spent a little energy finding the smallest, the lightest and most efficient of everything (it's a hobby) to take with. Neopacks RULE.

For just us adults in warm weather, I usually carry in my small LL Bean messenger bag:
Tickets
Cellphone
Camera
Lip balm
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Bandaids (though you can get them at the care center too)
Travel tube of Advil or Tylenol
Hand-held mister fans on caribiner

DH also carries in his backpack:
Water bottles w/cap filters
Packets of drink mix
Snacks
Ponchos
Umbrellas

In cooler weather we also carry in the backpack:
Sweatshirts or windbreakers
Windpants
Socks

Good thread! Here's what I usually take (this is for 2 people, summertime):

- 2 ponchos
- Camera, extra batteries (this is in a little camera case)
- In a Ziploc baggie (to find easily): chapstick, oil-blotting papers, teeny travel lotion, a mini-pad (ladies, you just never know!), a little cover-up stick
- Cell phone
- In another Ziploc bag (wallet is too heavy, this way you can see what you've got and it stays waterproof): park tickets, cash, credit/debit cards
- Car keys (if driving)
- Mini sunscreen
- Bug spray wipes (they make little portable wipes you can use instead of carrying around the big bottle)
- Misting fan
- A small water bottle (to refill at water fountains as needed)
- Some Motrin/tylenol
- Mini crossword book and pencil (AWESOME for standing in line!!!)
- Granola bars, apple, etc. little snacky things (not much)

I guess I'm a minimalist too. All I usually carry is:

digital camera with extra batteries
cell phone
lip balm (with sunscreen in it)
a little Tinkerbell credit card divider thingy (3"x4"x1/2" when full) for credit card, KTTW card, Annual Pass, and a few dollars

Oh, I forgot a very important one! Some of you will think this is hilarious or ridiculous, but I am an extremely cold-natured person. Love hot weather, get cold very easily. So, even in the summer, I bring a light jacket or pullover, because within 10 seconds of going into any building with AC, I get cold!!

I know, I'm a freak ;)

I can do it into the Baggalini wallet bag. That is as long as there isn't a chance of rain.

Pre-packaged sunscreen wipes
Hand Sanitizer
chapstick
Pack of Gum
Tissues
Blackberry (with all the ADRs keyed in!)
Camera
Sunglasses (I rotate with regular glasses)

we went in late september once and the temps were very tolerable, the humidity was starting to decrease and we didn't feel uncomfortable at all. IMHO this is a great time to visit.

I've also been in mid-to-late Sept and the temps were great. HOWEVER - ponchos. You can buy them there, but be prepared - it's rainy season. But, my crew is quite watertight, so we use it as an opportunity to ride, ride, ride.

I tried a mister fan with DGS but found out that just a plain smaller squirt bottle worked better -- it was easier to carry and he often squirted water into his mouth which helped him stay hydrated (not sure about late Sept -- just been in Aug/early Sept). You might want to let them know that only squirting themselves is okay -- some other folks might not like an unexpected squirt. Also having bandanas that you can get wet in a water fountain is helpful when it is hot (around your neck, to wipe your brow, etc.).

DisTwix -- where's your autograph book??? I made the mistake of printing off the first page of the thread to have your list and it took 10 pages!

Yesterday I went through my box of stuff from previous WDW trips and found this list:

To take to Parks:
Cell phone
Tickets (of course should be first on the list)
Mini-fan/misters (have given up on the fan part -- too heavy with the batteries, just a squirt bottle is fine)
Snacks (sometimes this is lunch -- but am going to try to do the DDP and not carry in many snacks on next trip).
Ponchos (always need to have at WDW just in case)
Line game(s) -- maybe quiet electronic, or paper
Wet wipes
Hand sanitizer
Autograph book (with velcroed sharpie pen)
Pens
Camera (s) -- digital, camcorder
Batteries
Film !! (now I guess that's extra cards)
Sunglasses
Sunscreen
Chapstick with SPF
Moleskin/scissors
Bandaids (I know they're available at care station -- but that can be a long walk, if you have foot trouble -- use something like Bodyglide before going to Parks)
Kleenex/facial tish
Trash bag(s) (stroller cover, rain gear, etc.)
Water bottle (perhaps drink of choice)
Change of clothes (not always, but in event of weather, or water rides/fountain playing for kids)
Umbrella (small folding one can be helpful in sun and rain -- be careful and aware of other people if using)
Hat/visor
Ibuprofen
Tums
Glow items (to avoid temptation of spending $16.00 on one-use toy during evening parade)
2-way radios (this must go along with film -- outdated by cell phones)
Blow-up cushion -- sometimes sitting on benches, etc. gets hard on the tushie for someone my age
Food storage bags -- since I'm doing the DDP on next trip, I expect to have left-over food (and if you want to get one item at one CS place, but eat it at another, it's helpful to have your own bag for transport).

Gosh -- and I was hoping to not have to carry a backpack on the next trip -- just how big are those pockets in cargo pants??:confused3

In my Travelon bag (unexpanded), I carry:

camera
extra batteries
small sunscreen
small eyedrops
small hand sanitizer
cell phone
a few bandaids
Ibuprofen
ponchos in a Ziploc bag
small chamois
pen
notebook
spreadsheet with my daily information
KTTW card
small pack of tissues
a few single serve drink mixes
compact
chapstick

Looks like alot, but fits neatly/compactly in my bag and I actually use everything in it every day (except maybe the bandaids).

I had room to spare in my little Bagalinni purse.

I have a "mom" bag that I carry to amusement parks. :) It's big enough to hold our stuff but not a backpack!
-small tube of sunscreen
-billfold
-small camera in plastic bag
-lipgloss
-immodium
-excedrin
-kids tylenol
-hand sanitizer or wipes
-tickets
-room key
-sunglasses
-pennies and quarters for the penny presses.
If it looks like rain I take the cheap rain ponchos you can buy at Target.

I love it! I always think I'm going to really minimize *this* time - that I'll really go small. It just never happens. I hate missing something. I hate spending $4 on a packet of advil when I know I have some in the room --- and there is NO WAY I'm going to make the hour ++ bus trip back to get it. By then I'd need advil AND a box of wine. :rotfl:

My DH wears cargo shorts so he gets to do the carrying. We bring:
*our Keys to the World cards
*our IDs

*a couple of Band Aids
*a bottle of water

That's it! No cell phones--it's just me, DH and Mickey Mouse!;)

I pack all the same things as everyone has mentioned, but I haven't seen anyone else mark down to take a highlighter.
I take one to highlight show times, points of interest or just things I don't want to search for again on the park maps and brochures.
I hope this helps...

My park bag last trip contained:
- Key to the Kingdom card (hotel card/park ticket/credit card)
- Regular check card
- ID
- small hairbrush
- loose face powder
- lip gloss/chapstick
- park maps
- cell phone
- small bottle of sunscreen
- Digital camera

I carried all this in a small (Pink Elephant pattern) Libby-style Vera Bradley bag. It was perfect!

***Of course...it wouldn't be fair not to mention that my friend's DH carried an ENORMOUS tote all week with all the extra stuff.*** :rolleyes1 But pretend I didn't say that. ;)
