View Full Version : What did you get during the Year of the Million Dreams Giveaway?

We won dream fast passes over 8 times. It got to the point that we were embarrassed about it. :rotfl2: Once we walked through Interventions and got them. We then went off to ride Mission: Space where we were given them again as we entered the pre-show! (We gave away one set to a family we saw a little later). Our favorite memory is that we first won them at Animal Kingdom at Rafiki's Planet Watch. Right afterwards, my wife felt our baby girl move for the first time! We joke that Audrey must have realized it was an exciting time too.

We also were chosen as a "VIP family" for American Adventure while on our anniversary trip and given a certificate (although I think they might do this regardless of the celebration going on.

I didn't get anything :( Not that I was really super upset about it, but I really just wanted a pair of the ears. Once I found out I couldn't buy them, that really bummed me out lol. I mean, of course the castle stay or fastpasses would have been cool, but really, I just wanted the ears lol.

I sorta wanted the ears too! haha but after my fastpass luck, that was a tad bit selfish on my part!

We won ears getting off Splash Mountain; we won four sets of ears when we were home. Our biggest surprises was when we returned from our trip this past September there was a box in my foyer. I thought it was one of the two shipments I had sent home of souvenirs, etc. It wasn't. It was a box of Dream Giveaways. The box consisted of a stuffed Minnie and Mickey in their Year of a Million Dream outfits, a photo album, a photo frame, a jumbo coffee mug, a can of jelly beans, a lanyard and pin starter set, a tote bag and a gift card. I figured the gift card was probably $25 and tried to look it up online. It indicated online that I had to call a toll free number to get the balance. I did as instructed and the gift card was worth $385.00. I immediately called Disney and had it applied to this year's trip.

Not a darn thing. Three trips during the promo & nothing from any of them.

However, we did just have a 'magical moment' last week. My boys were made honorary Lost Boys. When we got off Peter Pan, 2 CMs were there. They asked how we liked the ride, etc. and told the boys they had a surprise for them. They had the boys recite an oath then they sprinkled them with pixie dust and gave them certificates saying they were honorary Lost Boys. We also got 2 front of the line passes we could use anywhere in MK. It was quite cool. We ended up not even using one of the passes because all the lines were so short.

HA! Yea..I was once in Disneyland and twice in WDW and won nothing. But I did make a TON of new memories, and the new friends I made at Mousefest are worth more than anything!

Well, we were one of the lucky ones. While sitting on a bench at Downtown Disney I was approached by 3 cast members telling me I was a lucky winner. After a few questions they took me to one of their offices inside the Grand Californian Resort. After we got there they told us that we won the $500 shopping spree at the World of Disney store! They had us to meet back at the store at 3:00. When we showed up we were greated by 2 corporate types, a 'shopping assistant' plus a Disney corporate photographer who took our picture the whole time we were shopping. Very fun. But $500 goes FAST...!

We got free french fries at Fairfax Fries on one trip and then in October we got Dream Fastpasses twice. The first one was at DHS, we were killing time waiting for our fastpass window for TSM. Wondered into One Man's Dream and there they were. The second time was on our last day, we had eaten at CP before rope drop and had rode BTMRR first. We saw a dream team member at the exit when we left the station on the ride, crossed our fingers and sure enough as we exited we got the Dream Fastpass.

Our mission that day was to ride all the FP rides (except Stitch) before we had to leave for the airport (11:30am). We did it - we could have done it without the FP as it was just not that busy.

We didn't "win" anything in either one of our 2 trips, but my then 4 year old was made into a honorary "fairy godmother" for the day. We were in one of the stores on Main St looking at princess costumes and we were approached by 3 employees. They made her feel so special when they gave her a wand and put together an outfit on the manequin in front of a ton of people walking on Main St....and they gave her a certificate so we would never forget it!
So cute!

First, we got a trip. The trip of a lifetime and we are so thankful for that!!!

It was a Make A Wish trip. Not an official "dream"...but a dream for us in the YOAMD!

http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq324/mblaine/gktw%20playing%20pics/100_1341-1.jpg

Second: Mickey made Lauren a "Princess for the Day" and William was made an "Honorary Mousekeeter," too! A completely magical moment for the whole family!!!

http://i460.photobucket.com/albums/qq324/mblaine/DHS/IMG_3646-1.jpg

Third: They moved the parade for us! :rotfl2: It was raining, thundering and lightening and we told the kids that we were at the end of the parade route. Turned out, we were at the beginning, and didn't know it! The CM that told Lauren's dad found out that Lauren was on a Wish Trip and gave the whole family buttons that said "Congratulations!!" and told the whole family and all the people around us that the parade was being turned around so that it would come to us first! :rotfl: The kids STILL think it was moved for them!

Here is a picture of our group (minus her Mom, camera shy!) and the awesome CM that thought to do this for us! :)

We won a coupon for a free 5x7 photopass picture. That is all in over 100 visits to the parks. :( I wasn't expecting anything but I sure wasn't overwhelmed with freebies. All I wanted was the Dreams Ears. My daughter bought the hat for me on Ebay.

Nothing, not a thing during 2 week long trips. We saw people getting Ears while getting off Soaring, people next to us while waiting for Crush got stuff, etc. Always so close, but never us. I really didn't care, but it's awfully hard to explain to a 8/9 year old why she can't have blue Mickey ears.....:sad2: I really hated that promotion, I'm so glad it's finally over.

Four trips during the year and one time we won dream fast passes at the studio. But during one trip we were staying at POP and I was doing laundry. :laundy: Just as I was about to put all the laundry into two dryers a maintenance guy came in and said I could dry everything for free. He turned on the machines for me. I count that as a "dream" win! :cheer2:

We got a bunch of the blue YOMD ears - we were among the first people on Goofy's Barnstormer one morning, so as we exited the ride, we all got ears. Since there was no line for Barnstormer, we just kept going through the queue again and again - each time, we were handed ears! Until their stack was gone.

So we had ears to give as gifts when we got home!

The only thing we got in the ~2.5 years of a million dreams was a better parking spot at Epcot one visit. Since we visit ~30 days per year, it appears that our luck wasn't very good.

Oh well, we still enjoyed Disney! :thumbsup2

I won one Dream FP out of 3 trips and over 20 park days. On the last day of our December 08 trip, I was alone, yet again, at Epcot. I saw the Dream Team heading for TT and asked if it was a good time to be riding TT, one of them shouted back that for some, it was a very good time to be riding TT. So, I went up the single rider line, all the way to the top, even with a 20 min wait time posted outside. At first they didn't let me in, but then the guy recognized me from outside and invited me in. :cool1:

Our December 08 trip that we planned for over a year and a half included Corey's mom. Her mom was all up for the trip. It was supposed to give them some mother daughter time. Make some great memories and such, but her mom wasn't as honest with us as she could have been about just how bad her health had become. I don't think that she has even accepted for herself about how little she is still able to do. Because of this, Corey spent a large part of our trip caring for her mom instead of enjoying her mom and our vacation.

When I won that Dream FP on the last day, I finally had something that I could give back to Corey to give her a little silver lining. When they finally arrived at Epcot sometime, just after noon, because her mom wasn't up and out to any park before noon the whole trip, after we finally got into the swing of hitting all of the Santas and Storytellers, I gave Corey the Dream FP and told her to go play and I took care of her mom. At first, she didn't want to take it, but she did and she was very glad that she did. She didn't like not being able to do stuff with me, which I totally understand that but she was glad to be able to do something, which was a freedom that she didn't have for most of the trip.

If I was only going to be blessed with just one Dream out of the promotion, I think that I got the best one possible. I was able to help my partner to enjoy a little Disney magic. For that, I will always be grateful to Disney's Dream Team!

We got the Dream Fastpasses at MK last year when we were coming off Peter Pan. It was so fun! We didn't use up all the rides on them(2 of us were pregnant and couldn't go on the big rides), so we gave them away to a family who was just coming into the parks when we were on our way out. They were so excited and that made our day even better!

We won an extra hour party at Epcot. We were heading into Journey into the Imagination and were surpised to see the queue stretching outside the door. Just inside were the Dream Squad giving out wristbands and lovely big badges saying "Where my dream came true..."

My husband, daughter (5) and I loved the party outside test track. She spent the whole time dancing with characters while my husband and I took turns to ride Mission Space and Test Track with no wait.

Some people on Test Track were just doing laps for the hour! Not even getting out of the car.

And were also got a free choc chip cookie at Blizzard Beach. :lmao:

Seeing the Dream Squad always gave me butterflies after this!!:cheer2:

We had 3 trips during the promotion and just before leaving on our last trip, we rode HM and got dream ears on our way out. Exactly one year from that day until we arrive again.

We had one really long trip where DD got the Fairy Godmother on our first night there, then got to wake up Tinkerbell, introduce the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and JR Chef of the Day at Yachtsman Steakhouse. She got certificates for all of these, and DH got one commemorating his Birthday dinner at California Grill. We really wanted Dream FPs but never got them. Oh, well...

1 time we were standing at Aloha Isle waiting for it to open in the morning so we could get our Dole Whips, and 2 members of the Dream Squad walked by and started chatting us up. I got so excited because I thought we were going to get a Dream laid on us, but turned out not to be. It was cool though--it was fun to talk to them.

We got lanyards coming out of Peter Pan. We were so excited, you would've thought we'd won a night in the castle. It was just fun getting picked.

When we went in March '07 we won Dream Fastpasses at Animal Kingdom. It was kind of cool, it was our last day on site.
In March '08 we were looking at the wait time board at DHS and a dream squad member was standing there. He asked what are you wanting to ride? We told him Rockin' Rollercoaster. The wait time had a ? over it. He told me if I could guess the wait time he would give me fast passes right then and there. Well I guessed correct. This was our third year in a row to travel there and it was the first time we were able to get on the ride. It was pretty cool!
I'm gonna miss the idea that you might get a little surprise this trip.
