To those of us who are cold natured and can not bear temperatures below 75, this is a horror story---look away now.
EPCOT was 40 degrees tonight (with a wind chill of -200)so we left. :scared1: It's going to be 27 degrees tonight and still in the 40s tomorrow. Needless to say, we will be hanging out in the camper watching movies and playing games NOT touring any of the parks. I REALLY need a "not a happy camper smiley"

How do I accurately describe how this makes me feel? Hmmm, maybe some pictures will help.

It did that to us during a December trip about 10 years ago...all I had packed was shorts! We spent a small fortune on Mickey toboggans, Mickey Gloves....:sad2:

Sorry!:guilty:

40 degree weather is about perfect. Barely even sweater weather. I'd prefer 50 degree weather though so that I could possibly wear shorts. :thumbsup2

It is now 30 degrees with a wind chill of 24. I am going to set myself on fire. Thankfully, having a giant dog cuddle up next to you makes for a warm bed.

Be that as it may, I will STILL be buggin out to the camper van as soon as it warms up (just turned the heater on in there)

Cindy, hang in there!!! I don't know when you are scheduled to leave, but it's supposed to be 65 tomorrow, and in the 70's for the weekend. Besides, a cold day at Disney still beats a perfect day at home!!

We've been at WDW a couple of times during cold snaps in the winter. We've never let it spoil the fun. The only time it really ever presented a problem was while waiting for fireworks or parade. As long as we're up and moving we enjoyed ourselves. Never once has the question been asked, "can we go home now?" Not from WDW anyway.

We've been during cold snaps too...just not 24 degrees and staying in a pop up cold! :rotfl:

But, to be fair, it's not just the cold...I never thought I would say this but...we're burnt out on Disney and bored. We would rather just camp but now it's too cold to really enjoy any outdoor activities.
I know, it's a horrible thing to say but true. You know the saying about too much of a good thing? Well there you have it. We're just Disney'd out. Too many trips "making good use of" those resident passes for the past 7/8 years...and we just went to WDW for a week in December.

I think going every other weekend when we lived in Miami Beach really did us in.

Sigh....we're not renewing this year. The passes expire in March so we've decided not to go back until our friends come over from England for Christmas 2010. Well....except for the two more trips this year we already promised we would go on due to the military passes- Sept and December. Now I'm trying to figure out a way to get at least get out of going on the Sept. trip.

We have decided to just camp at The Fort and maybe do Universal or Sea World a time or two.

On the up side, I have no fever today AND I didn't have to take any pain pills during the night! WOOO HOOOO! :cheer2:

Ahhhhhhhhhh suck it up and quit complaining. You're at the fort for crying out loud.:lmao:

Just kidding. When we were there a couple years ago for Thanksgiving it was in the 20's the 1st night we arrieved. The heater never cut off. Hopefully it will warm up tomorrow. It's about 35 here and I've been outside working in the yard. If you stay moving it doesn't seem too bad. I saw where Blizzard Beach even closed. wow, that's cold.

Actually, we're at Turkey Lake. We were going to do the last 2 days at The Fort since we have to change sites Friday at TL anyway but, we couldn't get a pet loop site

The camper van is REALLY warm (turn off the heater warm) so we may just tough it out after all although......I honestly don't know how many more times I can listen to "Yo Ho Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me" :rotfl: DD is on a POTC kick.

Hey, do you know the story behind the blue library van at TL? Just wondered about it.

Our first week in December was ridiculously cold too (and we're from NH!) Heater went on in the TT almost every night. We went to MVMCP on 12/7 and it was in the 30s. Thankfully we all had coats, hats, mittens, socks.. our silly Mickey Santa hats, and lots of FREE HOT CHOCOLATE to keep us warm. Well... mostly warm. ;)

Last night on the boat coming back from the MK, my husband and I were the only ones brave enough to sit in the bow. It was standing room only on the boat--they were elbow to elbow tight in the enclosed area. Ok, maybe we did have on our winter coats from Ohio....gloves....ear muffs....and scarf! I was toasty warm:rotfl:

You would think after living in North Dakota and Pittsburgh:scared1: , I would have developed some cold tolerance but nope, not a bit. I can however, tolerate 100 degree heat and high humidity for months on end! :goodvibes

Ok i had to ask, was that a real dog you were cuddling with or really your hubby who you might think of as a dog.

And as Donnie says quit complaining you are at the fort and a bad day there is better than a good day at work.

Last night on the boat coming back from the MK, my husband and I were the only ones brave enough to sit in the bow.

Reminds me of the first week of Dec. We were heading over to the Contemporary with my aunt and uncle for dinner at CG. It was a super chilly day already, with a good stiff breeze, and dinner was at 8, so I took a tote bag and stuffed a fleece blanket in it. On the ride back we all squished in together and had our fleece blanket on our laps pulled up to our noses.

Everyone that got on the boat after us was SUPER jealous! Gotta say, that lightweight fleece did wonders. I'd bet we could have sold a dozen of them on the trip from Contemp to WL back to FW. :rotfl:

Okay, who did it? Who ratted me out to Disney and told them I said we were tired of them? I got back to the camper from Blockbuster and BAM two emailed PIN codes.

One of them is for free dining. How am I supposed to trun down free dining? I mean....it's free....and it's dining.
Dangit they play dirty.

Cindy, I know I have the Disney Blues too but it's not going to stop me from going to the Fort LOL! I'm going in March but I'm not going to renew my pass. I might do US or Sea World, I'm going to just take a Year off from the Disney Theme parks. Hope things warm up for you!

Sounds like we have more in common than just our names! We plan to do the same thing. DD is excited about Universal's new Harry Potter stuff coming up soon and we haven't been to Sea World in years so we can stay at The Fort and visit the other parks around town and just hang out at the The Fort......provided the temps are above 70 ~grin~

Well, it took about 35-40 week long trips in 7 years to reach our "Disney-ed Out point" but apparently...we've hit it. I never thought I'd see the day but, here we are :guilty:

We went to US and IOA in May...I really feel like I wasted my money....I compared everything in those parks to "What Disney would have done".

We felt the same way back in 2003. Instead of renewing our seasonal passes we got a universal power pass and compared everything to Disney-plus there wasn't much for a 7 year old. We ended up getting another set of seasonal passes before the year was out LOL!

I think maybe once you've become a Disney addict, you have to wait until you reach the burn out point before you can enjoy another amusement park. :upsidedow

We were at the Fort from Feb 1-6th. Brrrrrr! Good thing I brought our winter coats, hats and gloves from Wisconsin. I booked a last minute trip for my daughter and myself to get us out of the cold and it was freezing! We didn't let it stop us though. We did USF & IOA this time. It was fun. Even though it is going to be 63 degrees here tomorrow, I am still glad we did it. It was a great change of scenery and you can't beat riding on rides all day instead of sitting in the house or going shopping. :)
