Foolish Guest seen CLIMBING the Mexican Pavilion at Epcot!!

Some people are stupid enough to try ANYTHING at WDW. :confused3

The site where I found these photo links had a post
saying the guest yelled, "I'm gonna jump," then quickly
climbed back down the facade and slipped away into the crowd before
security could nab him.

:faint:

I was just thinking that a bus driver must have told him it was located at the top... :)

the really odd part is that according to the hidden treasures of the world showcase tour, those barriers blocking the steps are there just to prevent this sort of thing from happening and they wouldn't normally be part of the pyramid

No, he didn't say "I'm gonna jump" -- He said "I paid $$$$ for my vacation and I am going wherever I *&%** please" aka "I'm entitled to it!!!!!!!!!!!!"

... or else he was trying for the 2009 Darwin Award ...

whatever :confused3

Very funny ROBO ... thanks for posting it ... but very sad too!

I've done my fair share of "drinking around the world" trips, and it has never entered my mind to do something that dumb. I cant decide which is dumber, this guy or the guy who tried swimming across the lake at PI to SSR and gave up half way.

This is just the kind of patient I see in the OR on a regular basis:rolleyes: ...they get drunk and then decide to do something stupid...the nurse in me was trying to decide which horrific injury he'd have ended up with had he fallen.:sad2:

i've heard/read the same thing. apparently those barriers were not always there, but they had to add them because SEVERAL guests were attempting to climb the "steps".

for the record, i've done beers of the world 8 times and never had the urge to climb the mexican pavillion. once, my friend claimed he was going to "swim the maelstrom", but cooler heads prevailed.

:rotfl: Oh heavens! What was he thinking! I don't care how much you have had to drink, it is obvious that it is not a good idea!

I wonder what Disney was more upset with - the safety issues of a guest climbing the mexican pavillion or the fact that he totally ruined the "forced perspective" illusion and made the pyramid look a lot smaller than it normally does. :upsidedow

Now we've sat on the pyramid for a pic...but never thought of running up it...I’m surprised that the people in the firework control room didn’t spot him from the start:confused3 considering he basically ran up to their window

This type of thread is a better fit on the theme parks community board, so I'm going to move this over there now.
