DS just enlisted to the US Marines and will be leaving in Oct. for San Diego CA. We are looking into flying out for his 'graduation' (Not sure if that is what they call it) where he becomes a Marine. The event would be in the month of Dec. I am not familiar w/the area...so just curious how far Disney Land is from the Marine Base?

Assuming you're talking about Camp Pendleton, you can probably budget 1-2 hours depending on
1) Traffic
2) Which part of Camp Pendleton you leave from. It is truly an enormous base.
Best of luck to you and to him.

Actually the marine boot camp graduation is at MCRD(Marine Corps Recruiting Depot) in Downtown San Diego.
It's probably around 2 hours depending on traffic. But it would be pretty easy to find as you just travel up the 5 fwy.
Best of luck to your son in boot camp, you must be so proud. He joined the best branch of service. LOL My hubby is a former Marine so I'm biased of course.

Hi,
We lived just south of Miramar Marine Base and it was 1 1/2 hours door to door. We were APH so made that trip often. The longest it ever took us was 2 hours due to an accident.
Congrats to your son on becoming a Marine. I am A Proud Army Wife and we have many friends who are Marines so they hold a dear place in our hearts.
Enjoy Disneyland and also take the time to check out San Diego. It is a beautiful city!

Here is a place that can give you some ideas:

Like other posters have stated, MRCD is "downtown" (actually as you land at the San Diego Airport, look to the right, assuming normal approach, and you will see MCRD, it is right next to the airport)
The Drive to Disneyland would be about two hours, depending on time of day.
