Now that Pete has officially mentioned it, I just want to tell everyone how excited the 3 of us are to be the West Coast part of the Podcast Team. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I don't know Tony's screen name, but Wendy's is wendyinoc. I want to make sure they are also mentioned here!

We can't wait to share everything we know and love (and don't love) about the Disneyland Resort with you all. Hopefully it willl inspire many of you to come out and see us! I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we hope to do the podcast team proud with our reports!

Pete and Walter - we all can't wait to see you this weekend. :thumbsup2

Yes, I was picked. No, I have never posted before. Yes, I have been lurking around here for many years. I have emailed and called the podcast before. I am so excited I was picked. I hope you will all welcome me into your great and friendly community. I am truly thankful for all of the great advice I have received from these boards, especially the Tonga Toast:hyper:

I am a 5th grade teacher in Anaheim, CA. Many of my students' parents are hard working CMs. I live in Brea, CA (about 10-15 minutes away from DL). My wife is a teacher as well, and I have a seven year old DS who loves his rotund mini Mickey (he bought it at MouseGear in Epcot last summer).

We have had DL passes for the past ten years, and usually go once a week. I plan on doing whatever Pete tells me to do in regards to the podcast. I will be his humble servant. I will share all of my family's tips and tricks to having a great Disneyland vacation. I grew up in San Diego, so I can also help out with any of that city's attractions.

My family and I love DL and WDW, but as teachers, we can't always afford all the great stuff it has to offer. If we could, we'd stay at the Grand Californian every weekend and spend every vacation at the Yacht and Beach Club...someday.

I promise to do the disboarders proud. I'll let ya all know tomorrow night how dinner went.

Your newest (and most excited) disboarder,
Tony (oc_tony)

I am so glad you finally got on to post! I know the gang here is going to give you as warm a welcome as they have given me! I've been extremely blessed to know these folks!

For those who don't know me, I hail from Burbank, CA (about 12 blocks from the Walt Disney Studios) - born and raised in St, Louis MO. I went to DL when I was 6 and fell in love with It's a Small World and 101 Dalmations. That was my only childhood experience with Disney.

I started going to WDW on my own at age 23 - my first real "destination vacation" that I paid for as a working adult - I'm a nuclear medicine technologist by trade. I stayed at the Poly on a Delta Dream Vacation and I fell in love with WDW for all of the reasons a sensible adult falls in love with a place - the quality of the vacation, the beauty of the surroundings, etc. Then, came the collecting, and the craziness. Then came DVC in 1993 - Old Key West. Then came a second night job at the Disney Store - 3.5 years as a CM. Then, Disneyana conventions. Then, DL again for the 40th Anniversay Convention. Wow - what a place.

Fast forward to 1998 - I come out to visit (my husband of 7 years) for our first date - at Disneyland! I bought DL APs in 1999, knowing I would move out here in 2000. My husband's AP soon followed and he started appreciating the place (especially after doing some backstage tours at WDW). We came all the time - did all the holidays, even the crazy New Year's Eve!!!! Then came the wedding.

We were married at the Grand Californian in Dec 2001. Had our reception there, as well. We have really celebrated much of the goodness in our lives at DL. Our children - ages 3.5 and 2, have been going to DL since a week after their births. They are queue line pros and my oldest can even read a park map!

I've been onstage/backstage/and all the areas in between - both on my own and on tours. I've hung out in some of the most unusual places and I've been blessed with those experiences. I am constantly amazed of the interesting things I've done in Disneyland and WDW - just because I knew to ask, or was in the right place at the right time. I've also really come to understand the corporate side of the business of the parks, having also worked for a corporate sponsor and been to Disney University Corporate Training sessions. I am surprised that I know way too much about how theme parks/hotels/Disney are built, managed, maintained, and the politics of such!

I'm completely a detail and a history girl. What strikes me as different about people, shows, rides, or attraction patterns. When you do something, what happens? What things are located where? Where can I eat what? Why is something where it is?

I'm also not afraid to ask any questions until I get the answers I need. I'm "old-school Disney CM" trained and I know what's considered to be the acceptable answer and I don't stop until I get that.

I just hope I can translate that to y'all!

I know we'll continue to see Nancy out here (she was already out here :)), but I would love to continue to hear from Wendy and Tony on this board as well as on the PodCast, if you are up for it. I am excited to have DL be part of the PodCast since my family is more likely to get there in a year than WDW, no matter how much we enjoy WDW too.

Have fun taping today!

A little bit about myself...

I live about 15 minutes from Disneyland. I have been a Californian since I was 5, but I am originally from Illinois. I have been going to Disneyland since I was a kid and have such great memories of going to the park. My parents hated the "are we there yet?" so it was always were going to visit a friends house. I still remember the time they told us they were going to cut through the Disneyland parking lot to get to the house. I was like you can not do that!! They had me fooled all the way till we got out of the car.

I moved to Orange County in 95 for college. My sister wanted to work for Disney so we decided to go to Cal State Fullerton. She ended up getting a job in cash control and hated it. I have been a season pass holder ever since and love going out for dinner at the parks.
I just came back from Disney World in Nov and the Disney Cruise. I am a DVC member at SSR and I can't wait for the Hawaii DVC to open!!

I have done everything possible at Disneyland. I have had lunch at Club 33 and I have been on Space Mountain with the lights on to name a few. Don't put your hands up!! If you only saw what I saw.:goodvibes

I am very excited to do what ever Pete wants us to do. We're here to help! This show was so valuable to my Disney World trip I would love to give back.

Disneyland wound its way into my heart, the moment I walked through the tunnel. I was staying at the HoJo and couldn't imagine "feeling the magic" like you do when you are immersed in it like at DisneyWorld. When I walked into the promenade between the two parks, I felt a bit of the outside world slip away and the minute I walked out of the tunnel into Disneyland, the whole outside world disappeared. Now that's magic!! Disneyland is my favorite!

I am very excited to have DL Correspondents! Congratulations, Nancy, Wendy and Tony!! It will be exciting to hear all the progress being made at DCA! Wahoo! I can't wait!

Pete, Walter, Nancy, Wendy, and I all met last night. It was great and fun. Pete and Walter are the same great guys in person as they are on the podcast. Nancy and Wendy are awesome. Anyone who is thinking of coming out to DL should definitely do it. Just wait until the rain stops. (Sorry Pete and Walter) I look forward to helping get the DL segments of the podcasts going.

It was really great meeting everyone for dinner last night. Getting to know everyone was really fun and Wendy and Tony have a great wealth of perspectives they are bringing to the podcast and the boards and I know it will just be fantastic! (I don't need to tell you guys how great Pete, Walter and Mary Jo are - many of you already know!)

It was a lovely dinner at Steakhouse 55 - I know I have extra steak that I will also be enjoying for dinner tonight - the benefit of being local - you get to bring home great leftovers!

Thanks Mary Jo! You're pretty swell yourself!!!! I really am thrilled to be working with Wendy and Tony. We all have a pretty good team chemistry and will work really well together.

You can probably look forward to us planning on having lots of unoffical little mini-meets, when a lot of you guys are in the park at the same time. We would love to meet you all and talk with you about your opinions and experiences.

Also, for those of you that can't meet us in person, send us emails to the podcast or PMs and help us get ideas for the kinds of segments you all want to hear.
