Yep! You heard right - we're going to Disney and leaving the kids at home! Do we feel guilty, you ask? Of course we do! Are we reconsidering not bringing them with us? Absolutely not! :rotfl: Now, before you get the wrong impression about me as a mother, allow me to explain: 1) I love my kids with every fiber of my being. 2) DH and I have been dating since we were 14, and have been married almost 11 years. 3) We haven't been on a trip without the kids since before we had them! So, please don't judge too harshly, but we are really looking forward to this time for ourselves.:flower3: Oh, but I forgot to mention - we're not going solo! Allow me to introduce our cast for this trip:

Me: (Melonie) Lover of all things Disney and OCDTP (Obsessive Compulsive Disney Trip Planner). Constantly have a Disney trip in the works - even if DH isn't aware of it yet. ;) As a matter of fact, I already have a trip being planned in my mind for after this one. :hyper: So, enough about me . . .

DH: (Brandon) My husband of soon-to-be 11 years and my best friend in the world! Has become almost as obsessive as me about our Disney trips and is really looking forward to this adult trip. He and I went to Disney together on our Senior trip and that is the only trip we've made without kids - but, heck, we were kids! :goodvibes

Some pics of us:

And one of the kiddos:

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Trip%20Report/DSC_0152.jpg

DBIL: (Kyle) My husband's younger brother - He is a Staff Sergeant in the Army and is Military Police in New Orleans. I don't think he's all that excited about our trip, but is going along for his wife. :goodvibes I have a feeling that once we get to Disney and unwind, he will be very glad he went! ;)

DSIL1: (Christy) Kyle's wife (duh) - She and I work together at a state agency, and pretty much talk ALL DAY about this trip! :rotfl: The last time she went to Disney was in March of '07 and she was pregnant, so she missed out on all the "action". She is REALLY excited about riding RNRR and EE. I'm looking forward to dragging her from attraction to attraction!

Here they are:

With their adorable baby boy:

And one of just him cuz he's so stinkin cute:

DSIL2: (Kim) My husband's younger sister - she was 7 when DH and I started dating, so we go WAAAAAAAY back! She's the little sister I never had, but always wanted, so she was subjected to all sorts of torture by me growing up. :goodvibes She is VERY excited about this trip as well! She and her boyfriend (you'll meet him next) spent 2 days with us at Disney the week before Thanksgiving '07 and they can't wait to go back!

DFBIL: (David) That acronym stands for "Dear Future Brother-In-Law" ;) Atleast, I suspect that will be the case - he and Kim have been dating about a year and a half. :goodvibes His first time at Disney was that short little 2 day trip in '07 so he is REALLY looking forward to going back! It's worth mentioning that he LOVES swiss family robinson treehouse! I don't know why or what his fascination is, but the boy is ate up with it! :rotfl:

And here they are:

With my cutie-pie nephew:

And one of just him in all his mischief:

I know what you're thinking - "how does one girl get to have the 2 most beautiful kids in the world AAAAAND the 2 most adorable nephews in the world?" Well, I don't have an answer for you - it just happened that way! :rotfl2:

Okay, so I will leave you here for a moment for you to decide if we're intersting enough to read about. ;) Be back a little later with some details about our trip - the where, when, and why! Stay tuned . . .

Okay, so here are some details about this trip as promised in the first post:

Where: Disney's Pop Century Resort

When: March 4 - March 8

Why: DH and I are celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary on April 4th of this year, and knew that we wanted to do something really special just for the two us. (That was the plan last year, but ended up on a Disney vacation for the whole family - no complaints, though, b/c it was AWESOME)
Anyway, we decided that we were definitely doing it this year! We knew that a whole week away from the kids wasn't possible so we started pricing 4 day trips. Well, our anniversary is the week before Easter, and we definitely WERE NOT going then, so we started checking for possible dates in mid - late March. Then, like the week after we started trying to make some plans I received the highly sought-after 40% resort discount code!!!!!! :cool1: The only March dates that it was good for were the 1st-14th, so we picked the 5-8 (Thursday - Sunday) and started discussing resort and dining options. From there, it snowballed into the trip it is today! Oh, don't worry - I'll give more detail than that, so be sure and stay tuned . . . :goodvibes

Welcome, my friend! :flower3: Okay, so we are thinking (Surprisingly, this was mostly B's idea) a 2010 trip with Deluxe dining again at a deluxe resort! Booking as much in advance as possible, so we can pay on it over a longer period of time. By that time, Bo will definitely be tall enough for RNR. Oh, but it has to be before November so Brooke will still be considered a child by their pricing standards. ;) We haven't talked in great detail about specifics, but I'm sure that will all start when we get back from this trip! :goodvibes I SOOOO wish yall were coming on this trip, too! :sad1: For old times' sake:

We'll be there also from the 7-10! I think I'm a lot like you. You'd appreciate my Excel spreadsheets and my DH thinks I'm too spolied too! (which is why we're going to WDW in March and again in November :) )

Happy planning and maybe we'll see eachother!!

:welcome: Glad to have you along! I'm definitely down with anything in the form of an excel spreadsheet, so I'm sure we'd get along! :goodvibes And there's absolutely nothing wrong with going on 2 Disney trips so close together - we were just there in September! I'm glad you joined in on the report. I hope it provides us all some entertainment while we count down the days until our trips - feel free to chime in your "days left" on this report whenever you need to let it out! Hey Melonie! :wave2: I'm along for the ride on this trip as well!

Too funny...I went to Disney with the whole crew a little bit after you (you went in Sept, we went in Oct - still trying to finish my report) - and now we are going back for a couples trip in May! Kind of spooky...I'm not stalking you, promise! :lmao:

Can't wait to hear all about your plans. Shawn and I thought about March for our couples trip, but decided on May instead. Just the two of us (unless I meet up with a couple of friends who might be there over some of the same dates)! It will be a totally different experience, I'm sure! :cool1:

Hey, Sara! :flower3: I'm actually reading your girl's trip report now that your friend Monica is writing - it looks like yall had so much fun!!!! I don't know about you, but I am so excited about our couples trip! And surprisingly, the kids weren't upset about us going without them? Of course, the first thing they said when we told them was that they would make a list of suveniers for us to bring back! You know your kids have been to Disney a lot when their wish list is broken down by park! :lmao:

So glad to have you along for this ride friend!

Don't feel too guilty about leaving the kids at home! We do every year! We don't necessarily go to WDW every year but we do an adults only trip every year.:goodvibes

:goodvibes Thanks! It really helps that they weren't upset about us leaving them behind. I guess 4 days with their Maw Maw all to themselves isn't such a rotten deal - her life's mission is to make sure they never hear the word "no" from her mouth! :upsidedow

I've decided that the default font makes me want to go to sleep so I'm going to try and remember to change it up from now on. :)

Now for some planning details . . .

As I said before, this plan started as an anniversary trip for dh and I, but we knew we would love to have some other couples along to share it with. Right off, we asked dh's sister, brother and sister-in-law and we immediately had their wheels turning. DSIL2 said that she and DFBIL would definitely be up for it and to count them in, and DSIL1 was dying to go, too, and didn't have to try too long to convince DBIL to commit. :goodvibes And I didn't realize this, but DSIL2 (remember, who was pregnant her last trip in '07) had not been to WDW before that! So, her only Disney experience were those 2 days that she hardly got to ride/enjoy anything. :sad2: We will DEFINITELY have to make up for that this trip - right, Christy? :thumbsup2 So, not only are we celebrating 11 years of marriage, but we get to have a vacation with the bros and sis's. :grouphug: I think it's going to be great!

So, here are our plans:

Wednesday 3/4: We are all working this day  but are getting off in time to be at the airport for 5:15p.m.. Our plane leaves at 6:25 CST and arrives in Orlando at 9:00p.m. ET and it's off to Pop Century via Magical Express! Oh, and we are retrieving our own luggage from baggage claim so that we can have our stuff when we check into our rooms for the night.

Thursday 3/5: The plan is to start out at Epcot and hit the big stuff - Soarin', Test Track, Mission Space, etc . . . We are planning to spend the afternoon at MK so we will grab a CS lunch somewhere along the way. That night we have an 8:30ADR at 'Ohana! :cool1: If you read our last trip report, then you know that this was our absolute favorite restaurant, so we had to make this our first TS meal of the trip! Can't wait to take everybody there!

Friday 3/6: We are heading to AK this day. This is usually a 1/2 day park for us, but we haven't laid out any plans for the afternoon. DBIL wants to go to Disney Quest (which dh and I love) so it's very possible that we will spend it there. That night, we are hoping to eat dinner at the ESPN club. DH has been wanting to do that since our Thanksgiving '07 trip, so that's the plan as of right now.

Saturday 3/7: This is our HS day! We plan to FP and ride ToT, RNR, and TSMM ALL DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes Oh, and we have a lunch ADR at 50's Prime Time Cafe for noon to take a break.

Sunday 3/8: We have a breakfast ADR for Donald's Safari Breakfast this morning, but other than that this day is unplanned. We will just decide on the fly what we want to do this day. Our flight leaves Orlando at 5:35 so I'm guessing ME will pick us up around 2:30. Only gives us a 1/2 day but we'll make the most of it I'm sure.

Also, it should be noted that we aren't all insistent on being glued together the whole time. It's understood and agreed upon that no one gets upset or their feelings hurt if anybody wants to part ways and do their own thing. After all, this is all of our vacations so we need to all get out of it what we want, right? Right! :goodvibes And we have parkhoppers so we plan on skipping from park to park and catch our favorites whenever we want as well. I guess in short - we only have 3 1/2 days to cram everything in so we're going to be running all over trying to make sure we get to do it all, and we'll deal with this :faint: when we get back.

And, as with any well laid out plans, these are simply jumping off points for us - there's no telling what we will actually do and in what order, so be sure and stick around for the report when we get back. popcorn::

Okay, after re-reading my PTR from the September trip, I've decided that my introductions were much better on it. So, I copied and pasted it here for you to read. The only things that have changed are the ages and some of the job info for DH and I. Anyway, just thought it would be an interesting read to pass the time . . .

First Installment: Cast of Characters

Me: Melonie (29) – loves ALL things Disney! Always has a trip in the works (whether DH is aware or not) and never stops thinking of plans for the next trip. Could not function without Excel spreadsheets and does not like anything that I cannot plan and obsess over in advance and be in complete control over! Was a spoiled only child (okay, okay, so still am . .. ) and always got my way – much to DH’s dismay since (as I like to put it) “I was that way when he met me, so he knew what he was getting into and has accepted the responsibility to keep me in the lifestyle I am accustomed to!” :snooty: LOL! Okay, so no flames – I am definitely a spoiled brat, but have coated it with a sweet and loving personality. Thankfully, DH does love me the way I am, and I want to say here that I love him with every fiber of my being! He is the greatest man I have ever known and it’s so exciting to think that after the blessing of 10 years of marriage, we still have so much to look forward to in life. Being married to him is what I cherish most in life (GASP! Yes, more than Disney World) and we enjoy the time that we spend together. In other news (read those words in the voice of Tom Brokaw), I work full-time outside of the home as a bookkeeper, but my favorite job is being a mother! I hope to one day have the opportunity to only work during the hours that my children are in school so I can have more time to enjoy them in the innocence of their childhood. (It’s in my 5-year plan! And, yes, that plan is in the form of an Excel spreadsheet!) :thumbsup2 Okay, so enough about me – I will talk about myself enough in the rest of this report! :rolleyes1

DH: Brandon (28) – As stated above, he has his hands full putting up with me, but he does a fabulous job of it and spoils me and our 2 children to a point that is probably not healthy. :goodvibes He is a youth pastor and is an amazing man of God! He reaches teenagers in a way unlike I’ve ever seen before and they feel totally comfortable coming to him with their problems. He substitute teaches at the junior high and high school in our community and takes advantage of that opportunity to connect with his students and be completely involved in their lives. I guess you could say we have 2 biological children and 40-50 foster children that can be expected to pop by at any moment. (Our house is NEVER quiet!) As far as Disney goes, he really enjoys it, but is not as into it as I am. Actually, I think the only reason he goes along with me insisting that we go there every year is because he knows how much joy it brings me and the kids. Okay, so I guess it’s mostly me that gets so much joy out of it, but the kids like it too dangit!!! (Rant over) He hates my OCD planning of every detail and usually rolls his eyes at the sight of the “Disney Binder” (where I put the printed spreadsheets) but he amuses me for the most part and even pretends to look at it sometimes. Gotta love him! I think the thing he is looking forward to the most this trip is the fact that we are on the Deluxe Dining Plan and get to try some awesome restaurants that are paid for before we even get there. I hope to get him to comment during the trip report, because he has an amazing sense of sarcastic humor and is a natural riot!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/For%20PTR/DSCF1015_2.jpg

DD: Brooke (7 ½ ) – I think this child may have the potential to follow in her mother’s spreadsheeting footsteps. :scared1: I constantly see her making lists – people she wants to invite to her next birthday party, things she “needs” from Wal-Mart, party supplies, etc . . . An OCDP (obsessive compulsive Disney planner) in the making I do believe. She is in the 2nd grade and makes straight A’s – cries over any missed answers on homework or a test. She is everything I’d ever wanted in a daughter – beautiful, smart, sassy, confident, and compassionate. She probably spends too much time around adults, as I often hear her saying things well beyond her years. For example, the other night she and two of her friends were cleaning up the mess of toys they had made in their Sunday school classroom when I overheard her say to the others, “We should pray before we dismiss.” Too funny! When it comes to Disney, she is a roller coaster lover!!!! Her favorite rides are Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Expedition Everest, Rock ‘n Roller Coaster, and Space Mountain. She is a princess fanatic and is looking forward to eating in the castle again and also to having dinner with Cinderella, the step-sisters and Lady Tremaine. She will sit at the computer with me for hours watching youtube videos of the places we are going during our trip. See what I mean – OCDP all the way baby!!!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/For%20PTR/DSC_0569.jpg

DS: Bo (5 ½ ) – This boy has the most personality of any one person I’ve ever met! In just a few words – all goodness, badness, sweetness, mischief, kindness, sarcasm, lovingness and comedian rolled into one little boy! He keeps me on my toes and has the entire family laughing all the time! He just started kindergarten and is self-proclaimed as the “smartest kindergartener”. I mean, the boy reads on a 3rd grade reading level, so I guess he is justified in thinking that, but we are trying to work on his inflated ego issues! ;) Bo will do ANYTHING for a laugh and we are very worried about the phone calls from the school that we will receive this year. I should also mention that as much as he is comedic, he is very very tender-hearted. Any time someone is sick or hurting (physically or emotionally) he gets very upset and worries over the situation until he knows that it’s all over and everything’s okay. I just love this kid! In terms of his Disney personality he is up for anything! The only ride that he was unable to do last trip was Rock ‘n Roller Coaster and we are measuring him weekly to check his progress for this year. We have about an inch to go so we’re thinking of buying some heelies (without the wheels in) for our MGM day. :rotfl2: He is going to be absolutely heartbroken if he can’t ride it. He is pretty much a go with the flow kind of child and will probably spend his trip going along with whatever everyone else wants to ride. Oh, and he is DEVISTATED that he has not gotten a Mickey Mouse stuffed animal on any of our past trips so he will be purchasing one as soon as we arrive to our resort!

There are actually 5 other members of our trip’s cast, but they have their own PTR, so at this time I will direct you over there for their introductions. So go over and meet my DBFF, Katie, and her family. We will all be traveling down together, staying at the same resort, and have most of the same ADRs.

Wow!!! Just realized that DD has her lips closed in every smile in every picture! I promise she is a happy child - but since losing her 2 front teeth, she is a little self-concious about it. :)

You'll have a great time without the kids and it will do you good. Myself and DH just had 5 days together in disneyland Paris for DH's 40 th birthday and it was so good. We were able to ride whatever we wanted, didn't have to worry about making sure everyone was happy etc. It was a very different trip but very enjoyable. Do not feel guilty my kids had a great time with granny and were very spoilt:thumbsup2 .

That's what I'm countin' on! :goodvibes I know that once we get there, my "motherly anxiety" will probably let loose a little and I'll be okay - it's going to be great and I just can't wait till it gets here! :cheer2: Thanks for reading! :flower3:

Okay, so from October 2006 - March 2007 DH and I lived in Florida, just 45 minutes from WDW! :cool1: It ROCKED! Oh, and we had annual passes so we were there every chance we got! In March, before our move home, DH's family came to stay with us for a week and go to Disney. Just a reminder - this was DSIL1's ONLY trip to WDW and she was pregnant at the time. Anyhoo, I finally found some pics from this trip, so I thought I would post them since some of the same cast will be on the adult trip coming up. . .

Okay, so now a funny story from this trip: DSIL2 and I had bought some plaid bermuda shorts from Aeropostale on a shopping trip when they first got into town. The shorts were the same style, but a different color scheme of plaid. We also had the same shirt, just in a different color. (Yeah, that's how we roll! LOL!) Anyhoo, we were wearing these outfits while shopping at DTD, when the cashier at the toy shop there said, "Oh how cute, yall match. Who does that as adults?" It was hilarious! DSIL2 and I just looked at each other and laughed! I always find it amusing when people say what's on their mind without thinking that it could possibly be offensive. :lmao: I guess it's a good thing that we weren't the type to get upset by that sort of thing. Anyway, it was hilarious at the time, but is less amusing now that I'm relaying it. Sorry for the ramble . . .:flower3: Oh, here are the outfits:

Huh hum.....?!?!?!?!

The Disney Twins (B-random :dancer: & Josh Random :dancer: )

I see that there has been no mention at all about the possibilty of total chaos at Disney World on this trip.
I believe you undersestimate "the disney twins" effect on your trip.
:rotfl2: I expect hi-jinks galore and some sidesplitting photo ops.

My name is Josh, I am the father of two lil Disney Maniacs (Kaitlynn & Samantha). Our Family will be at Disney World during the same time. We were there for the first time as a family in April of 08.
We are celebrating my dads retirement this time around. We will be there for 7 days!!! We are all excited about this trip.
I am particularly excited about being there at the same time as my very best friend Brandon  . We work together and I must say ........ "Brandon is the worst thing  to ever happen to my career!!". We are always playing around and making fun of each other and everyone else. I exspect this trip to be no different. When we do meet up at DW I truly do feel for the spouses. We will probably go nuts!! So ladies... thank your lucky stars we wont be together much!! :cool2:

:worship: Papparazzima, you rock dude.
:hippie: I cant wait to chill wit yall in the DW.

:headache: I'm busted aren't I???? Okay, so "honestly" ;) , I was "literally" gonna mention you on our HS day, but I didn't want to tip-off any Disney staff on here to the fact that there may be an incident that day involving two grown men in tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum outfits skipping throught the park with Mickey ice cream bars!!!!! :rotfl: They tend to frown on that sort of thing. :lmao:

I'm so glad you got an account to post on my TR - be forewarned that this place is ADDICTING!!!! You'll be using "dis-cronyms" in no time my friend. :goodvibes

Okay, so a little update: We have cancelled our Donald's Safari Breakfast ADR for Sunday morning, and scheduled a lunch on Friday at Yak & Yeti instead. We decided that a 9:25 breakfast would take waaaaay to much of our last day park time. Y&Y is one of our favorites so we're definitely not disappointed about the switch. :goodvibes

Okay, so I know things tend to get boring at this stage of the reporting, so I thought I would entertain those interested with some pics of our family over the past couple of years . . .

Hi Melonie! I am also from South Louisiana...probably about 30 minutes from you judging by your kid's school shirts in a previous picture!

DH and I will celebrate our 10 year anniversary this April and are looking forward to an adult only vacation...not this year, but hopefully soon.

Looking forward to your trip report!

The trip should definitely be entertaining! :goodvibes And, yes, very sad about Kim's husband - it was a very hard time in her life, and all of ours really. But her son is such a beautiful reminder of her husband, and in a sense, he's still with us because of him. Not to mention that her boyfriend, David, is AMAZING to her and especially to her son! We couldn't ask for a better man for her. :thumbsup2

We have our flight home! :woohoo: For weeks and weeks, we have been watching the rate on our return flight go up and down, and we finally just bit the bullet and got it! It was almost twice as much as what we paid for the flight over, but oh well - WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to add here, that I found a paying it forward thread on the Transportation Board, and an amazing disser "vossjemi" gave me a $44 Southwest travel credit that was expiring before she could use it! :cool1: Isn't that awesome!!!! :disrocks:

Okay, so here we are . . . 20 days until our trip . . . .

How about a shopping update? ;)

Sara

Good idea, Sara! :thumbsup2 Well, if any of you read my PTR from our September trip, then you should remember how overboard I went with shopping for that trip. And by overboard, I don't mean spent an overabundance of money, but rather bought things that I probably could have done without. :rolleyes1 But that's neither here nor there, so let's talk about shopping for THIS trip. ;) So far, the only thing that I've purchased is 2 pair of Earplanes for our flights! I know that's hard to believe, but it's so definitely true - go me! I guess I do need to say, though, that DH and I are going shopping tomorrow for tennis shoes, so I can't promise that my thriftiness will last much longer. Something about an impending trip just makes me wanna shop, shop, shop! (Yes, I do realize that it's an illness, but no, I do not plan to solicit help for my little problem) :lmao: Okay, so I am really sorry that this TR has gotten so boring - there's just not much happening as far as planning right now. MAYBE (AHEM) KATIE, CHRISTY, AND MAYBE EVEN JOSH WILL START CHIMING IN THEIR 2 CENTS AND SPICE IT UP A LITTLE! HINT! HINT! ;)

Okay, so Monday marked our "single-digit countdown" day, and to celebrate the occasion, the majority of our crazy cast met for lunch. You may be thinking, "awww how cute" or even "what a special lunch", but what you should be thinking is, "HOLY CRAP how is one eating establishment going to survive 7 adults hopped up on pixie dust?!?!?!" :scared1: Well, the last thought would be most accurate, as this meal proved to be hilariously entertaining even to the point of near death for one of the attendees! :confused3

Okay, so to start off I'll tell you who was present:

Me - Melonie
DH - Brandon
DSIL1 - Christy
DSIL2 - Kim
DBFF - Katie
DBFF's DH - Jason
DH's friend - Josh (who will be in WDW with his family during the time that we are there)

So, anyway, the conversation somehow started out on the subject of tennis shoes - namely the fact that most of us bought new ones recently for the trip, and those that didn't were feeling . . . let's just say a little left out. :rotfl: So, anyway, Kim went on to say that she just LOVED the comfort and feel of her new "Armor All" tennies and that they were amazing! To this proclaimation I asked, "Didn't you get 'Under Armor' tennis shoes?????" ;) Not only did she not understand the difference between the two, but was befuzzled at the fact that the entire group had erupted in side-splitting laughter at her expense. :rotfl2: Poor Kim - you will soon learn that the poor dear was mistakingly born with dark brown hair! (No offense to those of you blondies with intelligence :flower3: )

(I must add here that once everyone returned to work, Josh sent everyone this picture in claims that Kim was right about her shoes! LOL!)

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/KimArmorAllModelEllzey.jpg

So, anyway, as things were starting to settle down (because we were attracting some awkward stares from the other restaurant patrons) Jason cracked another comment about Kim's fashion faux-pas at the precise moment that she attempted to swallow a sip of her drink. The result of which was her turning near purple in the face and being unable to breathe. Fortunately, she was sitting next to Josh who is a first responder with the fire department and was at the ready to administer CPR. It turned out to not be necessary as oxygen slowly began to pass through Kim's airway - thankfully, because Josh later admitted to having only recessitated "plastic people" to this point. :rolleyes1 But that's neither here nor there - all was well again, and it was only a matter of seconds before the boys were joking at Kim's expense . . . again. Of course, she didn't help matters much when she chastised them for making fun of her when she had almost went into "respiratory arrest"!!!!! :lmao: You heard right - she said respiratory arrest!!!!!! Okay, so ensue uproaring laughter again! :rotfl: Poor Kim - she just couldn't catch a break!

Well, other than the near death of Kim, the lunch was a huge success and a good time was had by all - even Kim! ;)

Stay tuned for my "One Week From Today" report . . .

:rotfl2: No, they are definitely Under Armor shoes - Josh photoshopped that "runway pic". :rotfl:

We ate at a little hole in the wall po-boy joint close to Kim's work, and it was delicious! All we really talked about regarding our trip was how excited we all were, and how little time we had left to wait. I think there was a little bit of "rubbing it in" by Josh that he is leaving 5 days sooner than us, but it's okay - WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

You know I usually end up forgetting those "ditzy" monents Kim has:confused: ..........BUT NOT THIS ONE!!!!! Oh no, I could never forget this!!!:lmao: :rotfl:  :upsidedow The girl is just too much. It's seems the Ellzey women tend to have a lot of these moments....well some of them anyway.;) I have to share this one. On the way home from prom dress shopping last night, I asked Cassie (DC-mind you she is blood related to Kim who is stated in the previous "ditzy" monent) to call Planet Beach for me to see what the cost would be to pay per visit. So as she gets off the phone with them she proceeds to tell me their prices and this is what she said....."Well, like um she said the price for the regular RV bed was $12 and the higher bed is $15." Wait....what??? What did you just say?!?!?!? I know you didn't just say RV?!?!?! Ummm, how about UV Cassie!!!!:lmao: Like UV rays from the sun!!!!! :rotfl: So at this moment she FINALLY realizes what she said and busts out laughing. She then tries to make sure I won't tell anyone..... yea right!!! As if I could let this one slide. So I will now have to let her know that I posted it online!!!!!

Those of us working on this day will be getting off in time to be at DBIL's house for 3:45, at which time we will load my super, cool, awesome mini-van :woohoo: with all of our luggage. That's right - we are loading 6 adults AND their luggage into one mini-van for our ride to the airport! :scared1: Oh well, it'll be worth it when we get to split that park and fly fee 3 ways. ;) DH and I will look something like this:

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Trip%20Report/WDW003-1-1.jpg

Upon arrival at the airport, we will meet up with DBFF and her DH. Once the boarding passes are printed and security checks are passed, we will wait at our gate for our sky chariot to the happiest place one earth! I expect to be feeling something like this on the flight over:

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Trip%20Report/WDW030.jpg

And DBFF too:

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Trip%20Report/WDW019.jpg

Once our plane lands it's to the "carousel of luggage progress" we go to retrieve our bags. I'm sure that at this point we will be absolutely delirious with excitement, so even this simple task should be wildly entertaining. :goodvibes

With bags in hand (or atleast rolling along the floor) we will head for this first magical stop of our trip:

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n178/trinity2359/WaitingforDisneyBus.jpg

Soon after we will be in line for this magical creature:

http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk62/shaw-cjdb/DMEbus.jpg

Which will take us to our much anticipated destination:

:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

YAY! WE MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! At this point I will most likely be "too excited to sleep" but will attempt it anyway because we have an 8a.m. MK morning when we wake up!!!!!!! :cool1:

Stay tuned for Day 2 tomorrow . . .

You are too funny! :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: It's like you've already gone....LOL!

Wow! 1 week! So are you guys arriving too late to use the ME luggage service? Shawn and I will be using it for the first time in May - I have never done ME before! I think with the whole family, we will always get a car, no matter where we are staying, but with it just the two of us, Shawn wants to just let Disney do it all! LOL! He is really looking forward to the luggage thing the most, I think! :rotfl:

Wow, I am gone only a few hours and I miss so much! Great update Mel. The update about our lunch was cracking me up so much, I started laughing outloud again :lmao: Kim and her "armor all" shoes just kills me! Poor Kim though, she can't help it. She would die if she knew you posted it though...:rotfl2: I think the funniest thing was the whole "respiratory arrest" comment, that was HILARIOUS!  After her episode in the restaurant I told DH that he isn't allowed to talk to Kim in any of the eating establishments at WDW :thumbsup2 We surely don't want a repeat episode!!!

Your one week from today update rocked! I hope it goes just like that:goodvibes It surely can't get here soon enough. I just hate that all of you guys have to work that day. I will be thinking of you! :goodvibes

I don't know how you are going to fit all of that luggage! You may be riding with it on the roof

Yeah, our plane lands at 9:00p.m., so even though we technically could send our luggage, we'd rather have it with us when we check into our room since we'll be getting to the resort after 10:00 most likely. This will be our first time to use ME, too! We used FLTours on the September, and then drove the times before that. I'm looking forward to starting the "magic" before we even leave the airport! :goodvibes

Plus, all of the other AMAZING stuff at MK (splash, BTMRR, HM, etc. . .)

We'll be grabbing a CS lunch at some point during the day, and be heading over to Epcot once the crowd picks up at MK (usually mid-day)

At Epcot we plan on taking it all in, and possibly catching the following:

One week from today, it will be Friday, March 6th - our Animal Kingdom day . . .

On this day we will make RD at AK! (Yes, we will!) ;) Our FIRST destination will be to take a ride through the mountains on a runaway train

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2007/100_5230.jpg

We will most likely do this more than once as it is a fave!!!!!

Another fave (of dh's anyway) is Flights of Wonder, which he will most likely plan our day around the showtimes for

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Trip%20Report/WDW328.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Trip%20Report/WDW354.jpg

We will take in anything and everything else that AK has to offer this day, including one of my personal faves - Dinosaur!!!! :thumbsup2

It's Tough To Be A Bug is a must too

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2007/100_5229.jpg

Oh, and gotta check out the animals when you're at AK right????

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Trip%20Report/WDW325.jpg

Oooooh, and the best part of the day - lunch at Yak & Yeti!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2007/100_5254.jpg

I doubt we stay for the parade, but if we do it will look something like this

Once we've accomplished all that we set out to do at AK, we will leave there and the ladies and gents will part ways. :cool1: The guys will be off to Disney Quest and the ladies will be off to do whatever the heck we want to!!!! :dance3: So far, us girlies haven't discussed what exactly that will include, but I'm sure it will be AWESOME! :grouphug:

We plan to meet back up with the men-folk later that night at the Boardwalk for some dinner at the ESPN Club.

Well, that sure was a busy day - can't wait to see what we'll do tomorrow . . .

I'm definitely thinking we shouldn't limit ourselves to the DTD area just because the boys are there - we can go WHEREVER we want to!!!! :woohoo: Like . . . we could hop from park to park just riding all the thrill stuff . . . or go to Epcot and snack in all the countries . . . or ride the TTA for 2 hours straight . . . or . . . well . . . I think they get the point - we get to decide what we do and we have all of WDW to choose from! :dance3: This is going to be so much fun!!!!!!!

One week from today will be Saturday, March 7th - our Hollywood Studios day!!! :cool1:

We will definitely have to be at rope drop this day, and our first stop (as any good disser's should be) will be TSMM where we will retrieve FPs and immediately jump in the standby line!!!!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Trip%20Report/WDW217.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Trip%20Report/WDW234.jpg

Our next stop will be these two little beauties:

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Trip%20Report/WDW261.jpg

Our goal this day will be to ride TSMM, RNRC and ToT as many times as we possibly can!!!! Of course we will squeeze in some other cool stuff along the way - Mission:Space, Star Tours, the Indiana Jones Stunt Show, etc . . .

We do have plans for lunch this day - we're dining at the 50's Prime Time Cafe.

Oh, and if you think back to like page 2 of this trip report, you may remember a strange fellow butting in and complaining that he wasn't mentioned in my cast introductions . . . well his name is Josh and he and his wife will be joining us on our thrill quest after lunch. :goodvibes His parents will be watching their kids for the afternoon/evening/night while our adult crew terrorizes the studios! It's sure to be a riot! :scared1:

Okay, so basically the rest of this day will be "winging it". We will simply enjoy each other's company while ride-hopping. (Which should be easy to do because we won't have any lines to wait in, right? Right!) ;)

After talking to Brandon this morning, I've realized that Disney really has no idea what's coming there way this week. Seriously, what are they thinking let y'all come without the children?! They were the ones keeping y'all contained in the first place. Haha. I have come to the conclusion that writing a “one week from today” report about the last day of our trip (which will be one week from today) would be too depressing at this point in my anticipation! Therefore, I will not be making such an entry in my report today, but rather just telling you how dh and I spend the day instead. :thumbsup2

It started out like every other Sunday – everyone running around getting ready for church. Our family joined us for services this morning (my mom, dh’s parents, his brother and wife, his sister and boyfriend, and the two nephews). :grouphug: I have been looking forward to this day ALL WEEK because both of the boys were going to be spending the afternoon/evening with us!!! When church let out, we all went to have lunch together – well, except for Kyle and Christy who were going to take advantage of their adult time to finish some shopping for our trip. Here are some pics of the fun time we had at lunch:

The nephews being so sweet:

It was a wonderful day and we had lots of fun with a house full of stinky boys! Kyle and Christy picked up their little turkey around 6:00 in the middle of our ice cream snack (which is why we get to be the best aunt and uncle ever!), and we brought the other stinker home soon after that. We enjoyed every minute of our time with them, and I’m glad to say that Kim is now all packed, and Kyle and Christy got their errands/shopping done and are ready to pack! So pack Christy! I’m coming check your house tomorrow to see that the new luggage is open . . . with clothes in it . . . and maybe even some shoes . . . okay???? :thumbsup2

That's a VERY good question my friend! :confused3 She went to the open auditions in Lafayette for Nashville Star 2 years ago, but didn't get through. We're forcing her to do the American Idol Experience at Hollywood Studios this Saturday, so we'll see how that goes. :goodvibes She sings at the opry thing in Walker every month and just loves it so much - I wish she could get "discovered". Her whole life has been music and she has such a gift.

She should try again and again and again... cause they don't know what their missing! I'm counting down the days with y'all! I'm going to be so lonely! Btw, I'm uploading your Disney cd right now, so I'll try and drop it off tonight so you can have it!! :rolleyes1

Our "eventful" flight got in around 6:30 last night, and we're still trying to recover! :goodvibes Two days before we left, I had to get antibiotic and steroid shots for strep-throat, and also had to take antibiotics by mouth the whole trip - well Saturday, I came down with a HORRIBLE coughing/chest cold. I still enjoyed my last two days immensely (being sick in Disney is still better than being well at home :thumbsup2 ) but now it's really hitting me hard - fever, chills, cough, congestion . . . it's no fun! After months of planning, preparing, scheming, dreaming, and believing, the day had finally arrived . . . we were going to Disney World today!!! :cool1: The day started out much like any other, just with an added pep in my step. I got out of bed without even snoozing my alarm :rolleyes1 which never happens! Got myself dressed, laid out the kids' school uniforms for DH, put my last-minute toiletries in the suit case and headed off to work. I parked my van in the lot outside of our office building and literally had to remind myself with every step to not skip as it might frighten my co-workers. :hyper: I managed to somewhat maturely walk to my cubicle and attempt to occupy my pent-up Disney energy for the 6 hours that I would have to stay in the confines of the grown-up world. :surfweb: Trust me - it was no easy task! Conveniently enough, DSIL1 (Christy) found out that her team would be moving to a new section at the office that day, so I was able to burn-out some of that energy I spoke of by helping her move her things. It was a much needed and very welcomed distraction for me. I worked steadily on that project until 11:30 when Christy left the office for the day. Or I guess until the next week I should say. :yay: Once she left I had another hour and a half to try and entertain myself, which I did by double-checking all of my confirmation/reservation numbers, making last-minute updates to my spreadsheets, and making one last check-list of items to pack and/or take care of when I got to the house after leaving work. I finished that up with about 30 minutes to spare, and for the remainder of that time I looked like this . . .

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW001.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW002.jpg

Fortunately, the time eventually came that I bid my dungeon of doom (it's really not bad, but when you're stuck there while waiting for a Disney trip, it's torture) farewell and zoomed out of there! Before heading to my house, I had a few pit stops to make: First stop was the bank where I got some Mickey Mad Money - this stop was quick and uneventful and I was on my way to stop #2 in no time. Next up, was a stop at DSIL2 (Kim)'s work to pick up her luggage so that we could have everything loaded up when she and her BF (David) got to Kyle and Christy's. Last stop was to David's work to get his luggage as well. In all actuality, these two stops probably weren't totally necessary, as it would have taken a matter of seconds to throw their luggage in the truck when they got there, but hey, I needed something to do anyway, right? Right! :thumbsup2 With those last minute errands tended to, I headed home. DH was already there and getting out of the shower when I arrived and in no time we were all loaded up and headed to Kyle and Christy's to load everyone's luggage and prepare for our MUCH anticipated departure! :dance3: Kim actually ended up getting out of work earlier than expected so she was getting there as we were. :woohoo: DH went to work straight away loading the suit cases into Kyle's truck. (We had realized days before that there was no way all of our luggage was going to fit in the back of our van with the back seat staying upright)

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW003.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW005.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW006.jpg

I feel that this is the neccessary spot to insert a quick disclaimer regarding my DBIL, Kyle. {sigh} Kyle has his own . . . shall we say . . . "style" about him. He likes things that make other people wonder "what in the world is he thinking?" And he pulls it off with such . . . how should I put it . . . uniqueness for lack of a better word. :rotfl: Anyway, just needed to put that in there before the next picture. Before leaving for the airport, DH had to remove the deer antlers from Kyle's truck so that no one messed with them at the airport:

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW012.jpg

I'm sure you've seen vehicles with collegiate flags sticking up from their car windows, well, this is the same thing except it's antlers. (My DH got these for Kyle for Christmas because they suited him perfectly) :confused3

Anyway, the luggage was all loaded and ready to go, and this is what some of our crew looked like:

Christy making a last-minute list
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW009.jpg

Kim trying to be patient
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW010.jpg

Kyle having a snack (he has a face for every picture - you'll realize this very soon I promise! LOL)
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW011.jpg

Alright, suitcases - check; travel documents - check; gas in the truck - check; Mel - check; Brandon - check; Kyle - check; Christy - check; Kim - check; David - ch . . . . David? Kim, where's David? What time did he leave work? Have you heard from him yet?

Will David make it before our "must leave by" time? You'll have to wait to find out . . .

Good Morning everyone! I just wanted to give a little update on Mel. She is still very ill and ended up back at the hospital for the 3rd time yesterday afternoon. I talked to her DH yesterday evening around 7pm and he said they had just seen the doctor and they had been there since 2:15pm. :confused3 At that time they still didn't know what was going on. I haven't talked to him since then, but I'm sure I will have an update later this morning and will let you guys know. Please continue to keep them in you prayers. We all want her to get well soon. Hello All! This is just an update on Mel. I just talked to her DH and he said that she was admitted into the hospital late last night. She is having a complication due to the spinal tap that they did last week to rule out menengitis. For some reason, there is a hole from the spinal that apparently didn't seal up or something and her spinal fluid has been somewhat leaking out. He said that this is what has been making her so sick and making her have such a terrible headache. I think they are supposed to patch it today. He didn't say that it was a hard thing to repair, so that is good. I hope. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery:goodvibes Thank you.:)

So, when I left off, everyone was loaded in the truck - as were all of the suitcases - and we were waiting for David to arrive so we could get on the road. Okay, so maybe I exagerated a little bit about us "waiting" on David, because he was technically on time for our departure . . . but when you're ready to head out for such an exciting trip - it feels like eternity! :rolleyes1

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW020.jpg

Lucky for us, Kyle has apparently been "practicing" for our speed race to the airport because we saw this sign in like record time!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW022.jpg

It took very little time for our over-active Disney brains to unload the luggage and head to the terminal. Here are some VERY excited faces in the parking garage elevator

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW027.jpg

There was an almost non-existent line at the Southwest check-in kiosks so we were free of luggage with boarding passes in-hand in no time. So, with some time to kill before our departure time, we decided to grab a quick bite at Subway since we wouldn't be at our resort until around 10p.m. Guess who found us at Subway . . .

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW029.jpg

These two, happy, kid-free Disney dorks (We gave ourselves that name, so I can use it without apology) met up with us after a little hick-up of their own in the airport arrival plan (I'll let Katie tell you about that ;) ). We were all SO EXCITED at this point! Here are some random pics of us enjoying our pre-boarding snackaroo:

Jason straightening Kyle's "tie":

Crazy kids! LOL! We finished up with just enough time for a potty break before getting on the plane. It was only about half-full for the flight over, and we all took it a little for-granted not knowing what was to come on the flight home . . . :scared1: . . . but you'll have to wait until that part of my report for that story. Here we are waiting for take-off:

Kyle and Christy (Kyle making a face as usual!)

Oh, and I am most pleased to report that the Earplanes that I bought for the flights worked WONDERS!!!!! :worship: No ear pressure pain the entire trip! :thumbsup2

Okay, so I guess this is a good stopping point for now. Geez, you miss a week of work and they expect you to start making up for it as soon as you get back???? What's up with that? :confused3 Anyhoo, I won't leave you having too long this time - no more hospital trips in my future . . . I hope . . . let us pray . . . :rolleyes1

Okay, so it's time to finish up this "departure day" report so I can get on with the good stuff - the "We're in Disney" stuff!!!

Our flight was fortunately very uneventful and surprisingly held little chatter. I guess it had a lot to do with everyone having earplanes shoved in their ear canals so we had to nearly hollar to communicate with each other - and I'm sure it was annoying to the other passengers for us to try and do so! :rolleyes1 We landed in Orlando promptly at a little before 9p.m. and were obviously VERY excited to be there!

. . . . continued . . . .

With a "slight" hiccup in finding the Magic Express counter, we finally made it to the ride side of the airport and found this little beauty

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW056.jpg

I had heard in other people's trip reports that the line moves quickly, and I wasn't disappointed. We were led to another line outside where we were greeted with this

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Kim%20Katie%20Camera/4.jpg

Our driver made quick work of loading the suitcases and we were boarded in no time. And we were super-stoked that Pop Century would be the first stop!!!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW061.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW059.jpg

While on the bus we met a really nice family that was on our flight and we talked about how our crew had managed to escape without any of the kiddos. It was then that I pulled out my "list". The list that my kids had made for dh and I of the suveniers they wanted brought back - boy was it lengthy!!!! Here's me with the list (thanks Katie for this pic)

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Kim%20Katie%20Camera/5.jpg

Oh, and I feel the need to mention that during our bus ride movie, Kim asked if Walt Disney was dead. Gotta love her!!! :lmao:

The ride seemed to be a lot shorter than 30 minutes, but my watch said that's how long it took - go figure. We had used Disney's new on-line check-in service the week before our trip, so the check-in process when we got to Pop was super speedy! We had our KTTW cards in our hands and our luggage away in our rooms within 15 minutes of stepping off of the bus. All of our group except for David and Kim met back down at the food court for supper. Kim, well, let's just say she likes her sleep!!! And we all like it much better when she gets her sleep!!!! So, we didn't complain about them turning in early for the night in other words! The 6 of us each had a CS meal from the food court, but I can't for the life of me tell you what it was. Here are some pics from the meal

Jason telling us a funny story most likely

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW063.jpg

Kyle acted like he wasn't paying me any attention until I went to snap the pic and he did this

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW064.jpg

DH had the tie dye cheesecake for his dessert and we all were amused at how blue his mouth was after eating it. He drank water and wiped his mouth for about 5 minutes before giving up - he wouldn't give us a good picture of it though. LOL!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW065.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW067.jpg

After our meal and a little bit of browsing in the gift shop, I bid the group farewell and headed off to un-pack and get things ready for our bright and early start the next morning - morning EMH at MK!!!! Woohoo!!!

Here is what the others did while I was up in my room

Is that a victory dance, Christy???

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Kim%20Katie%20Camera/7.jpg

Brandon got up to the room around 1:00a.m. and I was already snoring. (So he says, but there's no proof!) He joined me shortly and it was off to dreamland until our 6:30a.m. wake-up call! Our plan was for everyone to meet at the bus stop for 7:15a.m. - would we make it? Would we regret starting our trip with an EMH park? Would our crowd nightmares come true??? You'll have to stay tuned to find out . . .

Great update!!! I am so glad that you are back!!! I know I was there, but I can't wait to read more!!!Haha :goodvibes

I guess I will give you a little background on our little "hiccup" making it to the airport!

Well, it was only about 2pm the day we were leaving and we were anxious to go!! We had told our oldest two kiddos goodbye that morning before school. We had picked up DD4 from pre-school and fed her lunch then brought her to my MIL along with all of their things for the week. They were set! We said our goodbyes (surprisingly without tears from anyone) and were ready to. DH insisted that we needed to leave for the airport around 3pm so we headed back to our house, loaded our luggage, double checked everything and we were out the drive way at 2:58pm!!! Woohoo, we were going to Disney! We only live about 45 mins from the airport, so I kind of thought that DH was crazy for leaving at 3pm for a 6:25pm flight, but alas we did. He said you just never know what may happen and we were making that flight!! :rotfl: So, our drive there was fast....we talked, laughed and were in such great moods. We took our exit off the interstate and were approaching the airport when he asks me "Hey can you get out the debit card for me". "Ok" I respond. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks.......it was at home..IN MY PURSE!!!!:scared1: 45 minutes away (one direction). See, I never bring my actual wallet to WDW. I give my liscense to DH and he as the debit cards, ect in his wallet. We have no credit cards anymore at all so we NEEDED our debit card. Lets just say, he was not happy with me :rolleyes1 I don't know why I didn't get it out of my wallet!:confused3 Anyhoo, I called my MIL to see if she could swing by my house and grab it and meet us half way. She agreed. I made a quick call to DBFF to let her know what was going on and we headed to meet MIL! She made it and we were able to make it back to the airport in record time :thumbsup2 We were good. Bags were checked, went through security with a breeze, and joined DBFF and the rest of the crew at Subway while we waited to board. Then....we took a breath :lmao: It makes me tired just thinking about! Haha.

So now you know. Just one more thing I have to add (since I have basically hijacked your TR Mel.....:flower3: )

This is Mel's DH after eating the cheesecake that she mentioned above:

Day 1 - Part 1 - Magic Kingdom

Okay, so if you go to bed after midnight, after an already long and tiring day with a 6:30a.m. wake-up call . . . does it mean you're old if you're awake before the call even comes???? OF COURSE NOT!!! It just means that you are in the happiest place on earth on the first day of a trip you've been planning for months!!!!! Phew . . . I'm tired just typing that! ;)

So, here we are. Our first park day! Brandon and I were both awake a good half hour before our wake-up call. I went ahead and started getting myself ready - I know this is cheesy, but I was really looking forward to only having 1 person to get ready every morning during our trip! I took my time primping (as you'll soon see I take A LOT of pictures of myself!!!) for all of the fun photo-ops I was hoping for during the day. B and I were dressed and ready with time to spare and surprisingly so were David and Kim! :woohoo: Their room was next to ours so we knocked on their door on our way out to find them both ready to go!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Kim%20Katie%20Camera/WDW008.jpg

Here's Kim and I outside of our rooms. (We both love to see ourselves in pictures, so there are tons of pics of the 2 of us - I've eliminated some of them from the report just because it's really quite obnoxious :upsidedow )

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Kim%20Katie%20Camera/WDW010.jpg

The weather was a little cool this morning, but we knew that it would soon warm up. It was about 7a.m. as we walked past the Hippy Dippy Pool toward the food court

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Kim%20Katie%20Camera/WDW009.jpg

Kyle and Christy soon joined us as we were nibbling on a bite to eat. By the time we all sat down at a table, it was already 7:15 so we told Jason and Katie to go ahead to MK without us and we would be along shortly. Katie had never seen the rope drop ceremony so she wanted to be sure and catch it since this was our only MK day. The rest of us finished our breakfast and walked out to the bus stop. I was quite surprised to find the line empty since MK was having EMH this morning - was this a good sign of crowd expectations for the day????? Hmmmm . . . I'd bet you'd love to know, right? ;) Our bus ride was full of chatter. Everyone was so excited to be heading to the "Princess Towers". (That's what our little 4 year old cousin calls the Magic Kingdom) Here are some pics from the ride over.

After a short few minutes we saw this . . .

The posted wait time said 10 minutes, but it was actually just the amount of time it took us to walk through the line and get on the ride - it was AWESOME!!!! Here's Jason and Katie getting ready to "launch":

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW107.jpg

The ride was everything I could have hoped for - dark, fast, intense, organ-jarring . . . sigh . . . I just love this ride!

After our tour of space, we headed toward Fantasyland. On the way Kim got all excited about the restaurant that beheld her beloved rotissierie (sp?) chicken from the '07 trip - she loudly proclaimed "THERE'S MY LUNCH!!!!" as we passed it

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW108.jpg

In Fantasyland, we walked straight into a showing of Mickey's Philharmagic - everyone loved it as always

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW109.jpg

After the show, we headed toward Adventureland - gasp - no Peter Pan? No IASW? No Honey Pots???? Nope! We skipped by those puppies and kept a walkin'! Not that we aren't fans of fairies, creepy dolls, and pooh bears, but we had bigger things in mind. Onto the big kid stuff!!!! :dance3: There was still a few minutes before the rope drop, so we took a quick potty break while we waited. (Okay, so why wouldn't Adventureland open for a.m. EMH???? Am I the only one that found that strange???)

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW110.jpg

Anyhoo, our first stop was POTC, which had no wait, then we headed on to the Haunted Mansion - one of my favs

Okay, so I'm not sure exactly when, but at some point we stopped at David's fantasy home - Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. I had tackled it the year before in flip flops, so I excused myself from this little venture - Brandon and I shopped at the cute little "islandish" shop across from SFRTH while the rest went up - oh, and I think Jason and Katie stayed with us? Did you Katie? Anyhoo, here are some pics from Kim's camera of their venture

From there, we headed into Frontierland.

Hahahaha!!!!! Isn't her face priceless!!! With the rest of our tooshies nice and wet, we walked at a leisurely pace toward Main Street. We stopped in at Casey's and had a hot dog to hold us over until lunch at Epcot. (Sad to say that Kim did not "get her lunch" of rottissierie chicken, but she wasn't too heartbroken - hey, you gotta leave something to look forward to on the next trip, right?) Anyhoo, the hot dogs did not disappoint, and we left from Casey's content and ready for a little shopping! We took our time going in and out of all the shops on Main Street, picking up a few things here and there. Oh, and can I just say how awesome it is to shop and send stuff back to your resort!!! We used it as much as possible this trip and loved it! Our last stop before leaving MK was the Main Street Bakery . . . mmmmmm . . . just inhale with me and imagine the smell of homemade fudge . . . . . aaaahhhhhhhh. . . .

Okay, so typing it out makes it seem like we didn't accomplish very much but I swear we did! :rolleyes1 I guess without stopping for all of the smaller rides, you just kinda breeze right through it. Oh well, it was just about noon and we had already done everything we had planned to do in MK and were on our way to Epcot - Woohoo!!! Stay tuned to find out if the mob of people NOT at MK were waiting for us at Epcot - would we even get to ride Soarin'? Any fastpasses left for Test Track???? You'll find out next time . . .

Day 1 - Part 2 - Epcot

Let's see, where did we leave off? Oh yeah, we were finished up at MK and were taking the monorail over to Epcot. By the time we carried our goofy-selves into the park, it was about 1:15 in the afternoon. Even with our hot dog snack from Casey's, we were all VERY much ready for some lunch!!! We decided that we should try and catch Soarin' and Test Track before heading into the countries, though, because of the afternoon crowds that we were expecting to encounter. Oh, but before we headed off to The Land we stopped for some photopass pics. (Look, Katie, I remembered them this time! :rotfl: )

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Photopass/Image058.jpg

Oh, and Kyle making the face that their 1 1/2 year old makes when he says "Ooooh, what's that?????"

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Photopass/Image070.jpg

Okay, so with our photo op out of the way we headed off to check the wait time for Soarin'. Oh, I almost forgot - the ladies stopped to strike some poses by the fountain close to the entrance at Epcot - good times . . .

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Kim%20Katie%20Camera/WDW048.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Kim%20Katie%20Camera/WDW049.jpg

Okay, enough detours, onto The Land! When we reached the pavillion, the posted wait said 30 minutes, but the lady at the stand-by entrance said it was more like 20. Well, for those of us experienced park-goers 20 minutes for Soarin' at 1:30 in the afternoon is phenomenal so into the line we went. The line moved incredibly fast - we didn't even get to stop for the arm waving game that you get to play in the line. The ride was as awesome as usual - everyone loved it! As soon as we got out of our hand-glider, we headed off in the direction of Test Track - oh, but with a short layover at Club Cool. Christy had made the comment that she was VERY thirsty, so Brandon and Jason thought this would be a good time to coherse someone into trying the Beverly. Their plan didn't work! Geez, I don't know why Christy, Kyle, Kim and David would be suspicious of Brandon and Jason trying to convince them to "just try it, it's so good" when everyone around us is making bitter faces. :confused3 They weren't buying it!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW156.jpg

Jason says, "Try it - see it's sooooo yummy . . . "

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW157.jpg

Christy says, "I don't think so!"

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW158.jpg

Kyle, as usual, has to try them all just because he's Kyle. :rotfl: He wasn't totally grossed out by the Beverly, but he definitely didn't go for seconds!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW162.jpg

And for some strange reason, David felt the need to break into his "special" dance to the music playing in there

A pic of the group doing a little shopping

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW159.jpg

And speaking of Kim, some song that she really likes started playing as we were leaving, and she starting singing along . . . very . . . very . . . loudly!!!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW168.jpg

Day 1 - Part 3 - Epcot Cont'd

Okay, well I am sad to say that upon leaving Club Cool, we lost 2 of our crew members. :guilty: Kyle has a condition called gout, and when it's flared-up it causes him immense pain when he's on his feet a lot. He and Christy chose to find a shady spot to sit and chillax for a little while. The rest of us headed over to Test Track and told them that we would meet up with them afterward to head into the countries and find something to eat. We were sad to leave them behind, but knew that the last thing Kyle needed was to push on at this point if he was going to last the rest of the night. When we got to Test Track, the posted wait was 30 minutes also, but we could tell from the spot that the line stopped inside that it wouldn't be nearly that long. We got in line and did what we do in most every line - take some pictures!!! LOL!!!

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/Photopass/Image071.jpg

These boys are just too much sometimes. When we finished our ride, we called Kyle and Christy and they met up with us as we enterred the countries by Mexico. The short rest had done Kyle real good, and he was ready to press on. We took things really slow on this part of our touring. Our dinner reservation wasn't until 8:30, so we had no need to rush and it was amazing to just stroll along slowly and stop to look at whatever we felt like. I think it was at this moment that I realized what a different trip it was at Disney without kids. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy EVERY second of our vacations with the kiddos, but this pace we had been running all day was so enjoyable! I knew right here that my mom was getting an amazing souvenier for taking such good care of my munchkins so that DH and I could enjoy this trip together. :flower3: Wow, that turned into a big paragraph of mush didn't it? On with the fun stuff shall we . . .

Here are some pics of a group of acrobats that we stopped to watch in China - they were WAAAAAAAY flexible - I think the guys were impressed, what do you think? :upsidedow

Katie made mention of some yummy croissants she remembered seeing in France last time, so the other 4 of us headed off in that direction. Our next stop was Japan. DH and I had talked before the trip about wanting a set of sushi saucers and chop sticks for our house and we knew we'd likely find what we were looking for here. Oh, and of course we wanted the group to see Miyuki (sp?) the candy lady. DH and I found our dishes (which shockingly I don't have a picture of :headache: ) and headed back out to the rest of the crew while they watched the fascinating candy maker. When she was finished, we headed out into the countries again. Oh, and I found this cute little duck that was really friendly, and for some strange reason I thought he would let me pet him - but he didn't. :rolleyes1

We ended up spending about 3 hours on our stroll, and it was so much fun! I remember laughing the entire time, but not about any one thing in particular - just at how silly we all were this day. I think it was around 6:30/6:45 when we made it back to Future World and Jason and Katie decided that they wanted to change clothes and freshen up before dinner. We bid them farewell for then, and the rest of us decided to ride Test Track now that Kyle was feeling a little better. The wait was still posted at 30 minutes, but it only took about 15-20. It was a fun ride - this time us girlies came up with our own "show" for the picture, as did the guys.

The ride was a blast as always and Christy was very glad that she got a chance to ride it since they had missed out earlier. On the way out, we got a cute night photopass shot

We decided to head over to the Poly a little early and just relax in the lobby before dinner. We made our way slowly toward to the monorail and arrived at the Poly around 7:45. Our ADR was for 8:30, so the 6 of us just relaxed in the comfy chairs/couches until Jason and Katie met up with us around 8:00, and we went ahead and checked in for our ressie. Our buzzer went off somewhere very near 8:30 and we were seated at a table right by the fire pit. If you've ever been to 'Ohana, then you know how this works - you sit down, they bring you some bread, they bring you some salad, they bring some sticky wings, pot stickers, vegetables and noodles, they bring meat, then some more meat, then some shrimp, then some more meat, then more of the appetizers you've finished off, then more meat . . . you get the jest? It was AMAZING and we ate until we physically couldn't eat any more!!! Well, any more until the bread pudding came out of course!!! ;) Everyone enjoyed this meals so much - there were no disappointments here for sure! :thumbsup2

Oh maybe someday this could be me and the wife. Rides to go on that WE wanted to go on. Dillying and Dallying through the world showcase and riding rides we want to. Ok so I may be a wee bit jealous. :rolleyes1

Oh, I HIGHLY recommend a trip for just the 2 of you!!! It will surely be a trip you won't soon forget - especially if you have a band of wild ones to tag along with you. :thumbsup2

I just realized that I forgot to post a scan of our picture from Splash Mountain. It's quite funny - someone in our group decided that we should all hold our noses for the drop and the outcome was super cute! Oh, and how funny that Kim is trying so hard to hold her jacket shut to keep dry and she ended up getting more soaked than any of us. :rotfl:

Okay, so when we left off, we were all dragging ourselves out of the Poly and heading back to Pop. B and I headed to our room, and when I opened the door I nearly hit the floor!!!! What was it you ask???? Did mousekeeping not come???? Had we been robbed???? :confused3 Nope! None of those things - DH had arranged with disneyflorist.com for an in-room celebration! While we were out about in the parks, our room was being transformed into romantic paradise! There were rose pedals on the floor, a heart of pedals on the bed, flameless candles, pixie-dusted roses, personalized Disney towels, a bath goodies basket, chocolates on our pillows, castle confetti . . . it was AMAZING!!!! My camera battery was almost dead (can't imagine why - I hardly took any pictures!!!! :rotfl: ) but I managed to snap a few before it kicked the bucket. The pictures don't do it justice, though!

The next morning (Friday) our plan was to be at the bus stop for 8:15 for the 9:00 rope drop at Animal Kingdom. DH and I were again up before the wake-up call, and were down at the food court while waiting on the others. He and I split a breakfast platter of eggs, sausage, biscuit, and I think bacon. All I wanted were the eggs and bacon and he was wanting a sausage biscuit so it worked out perfectly. While we were eating, Christy called down to say that they had overslept a bit and would be a little longer than 8:15 leaving. We told them no problem and that we would just take our time with breakfast and see them when they were ready. Jason and Katie went ahead to the bus stop since they had already finished with breakfast and wanted to be sure not to miss the rope drop ceremony. It was around 8:50 when the other 6 of us got to the bus stop and the AK bus was CROWDED this morning!!! No worries - we had all day for this park, so we weren't deterred by the crowd at all. The bus ride was quick and uneventful and while walking into the park, we stopped for a few photopass pics. Okay, I need to add a small "disclaimer" on the 2nd picture here - the photographer told us to hold up our "paws" and growl like a Tiger. Well . . . as with most things in my life, I got a little carried away! Brandon and Christy have had quite a time picking on me about it.

We enterred the turnstiles around 9:10 and found Jason and Katie there waiting for us - I was really glad that they had made it for the show and didn't feel obligated to wait behind with us. This trip was so awesome in that effect - everyone did what they wanted to and no one got upset or sideways or even questioned it! It was truly a great trip! Here are some pics of us as we headed to Kilamanjaro Safari

When we got to the Safari, the posted wait was 20 minutes, but in real time it took about 10. The weather was P-E-R-F-E-C-T this morning! Sun was bright, yet it wasn't quite hot yet - it made for an amazing safari ride. We had heard that the animals were more active first thing in the morning, and it definitely proved true for us - we saw much more than I have on previous trips. (We were hesitant to head here first because we really were wanting to do Expedition Everest before it got crowded, but we were very happy with our decision by the time our safari was over)

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/Mellzey123/Disney%2009/WDW320.jpg

We made a pit-stop into Dinoland on our way to Asia. Half of our group had never ridden Dinosaur before so we were excited to go chasing that Iguanadon! EVERYBODY LOVED this ride! We got off of there laughing hysterically at ourselves! The ride photo wasn't very clear of us, so we didn't buy it, but it was much fun I assure you! We attempted to ride Primevil Whirl after that, but it was being closed just as we were walking up. Not sure what the problem was, but we never made it back over there to see if it came back up that day.

After our dino-detour, we got back on track for Expedition Everest! Oh, but not before stopping for some photopass pics with the tree of life.

This ride was so much fun!!! Oh, and funny story - we had decided that for this ride picture, we would all kiss. Well, we get off of the ride and find that 3 of the 4 couples are smooching, but Christy is making a kissy face toward the camera and Kyle has his shirt over his head like on the Test Track picture! :rotfl2: When we saw the picture Christy was like "Oh, we were supposed to kiss each other!!!!" and Kyle was like, "I thought the guys were doing cornholio????" Anyway, it was a good laugh! Jason, Katie, Brandon and I were in one pic together and it came out really cute so we split a package of it

After buying the picture, we all jumped right back into line for another go. Oh, forgot to mention - it was nearly 11:00 when we got to Everest and the wait was still only posted at 20 minutes! :woohoo: For the next ride I don't remember what our ride picture plan was, but I do remember that Kyle and Christy wouldn't tell anybody what they were doing because it was a "surprise". :confused3 We were a little concerned! :rotfl: Turns out that before getting to the big drop, they put water in their mouths and for the picture they look like they're getting sick and water is sphewing out of Kyle's mouth. It looks really funny, and even funnier is that he got the rest of our crew behind him wet! (Don't worry we had the back rows so no innocent riders were harmed ;) ) It was really funny. By the time we got off of our 2nd spin, it was time for our lunch ADR at Yak & Yeti. We had been going so much that morning, we hadn't even realized how hungry we all were!!! We were seated right away and quickly ordered some appetizers and our entrees. Here's where David's funny lunch story comes in . . . We somehow got on the subject of Kim and David's relationship and David procedes to tell everyone about the first time Kim told him that she loved him. Apparently, she had had a little bit to drink that night and called him on the phone crying and saying, "I have something to tell you . . . I'm not sure how you're gonna take it . . . " (read that like a slurring, crying young woman which is how David told the story) " . . . but I think I love you . . . " :rotfl2: It's probably not nearly as funny being typed here, but if you could have heard David immitating Kim saying that and saw Kim trying to cover his mouth you would be cracking up!!! Lunch was a constant roar of laughter from that point on and the food was sooooo delicious!!!!

. . . continued . . .

We finished lunch just in time to catch the next showing of Flights of Wonder - a show that DH really really loves. I remembered from the September trip that 2 members of the audience with cameras get to go up on stage, so I handed Christy my camera and told her to stand up and wave it in the air when the time came for it. ;) It worked like a charm and she was picked to go up.

After the show, we decided to brave it and ride Kali. Okay, so we didn't "brave" it - we bought ponchos!!!! :rolleyes1 We were all determined to do our best not to be soaked for the rest of the day. Our hope in that was fading, though, as we watched droves of riders coming out of there absolutely drenched!!! We knew that whoever was facing backwards going up the ramp to the drop would get the worst of it, and the rest of us would probably make-out okay. I so wish I would have had a water proof camera because we would have had some awesome pics from this ride! Well, the time comes where we're fixing to hit the ramp . . . the raft is spinning . . . who's gonna be backwards . . . it was Kyle and Christy! :rotfl2: The whole way up the ramp, Christy is holding her poncho tight around her neck with the bottom tucked up underneath her and down they go, and up the wall of water comes over their head and BAM!!!! They got absolutely drenched - even with the ponchos!!!! I swear I thought I was going to have to splash water on myself to mask peeing my pants from laughing so hard!!!! Then, to top it all off Christy looks at Kim, Katie and I (all bone dry) and says "Laugh it up bi***es!!!!" I think I lost consciousness at some point from lack of oxygen due to laughter! Oooooh, I wish you all could have been there! :lmao:

After we all recovered and passed our ponchos off to people heading into the line, we decided that the Maharajjeh Jungle Trek would be a great way to end our time at AK. None of us had ever done it, so it was a first all around. The tigers were really playful this day and we watched them for a long time - they were magnificent!

After the "trek", Kyle, Christy, Jason, Katie, Kimberly and David decided to head back to the resort to change into some warmer clothes for that night, or in Christy and Kyle's case - some dry ones! B and I stayed a little longer at AK and did some shopping, and just walked around people-watching. We left there about an hour or so after everyone else, and made our way to Downtown Disney. The rest of the crew was going to be meeting us there later, so we spent the time by ourselves just browsing the shops and picking out stuff for the kids. I think we even held hands! :scared1: It was so nice and the weather was still GORGEOUS!!!!
