Short note could I get some opinions on the best site to take, we have a 35' Coachmen Mirada RV, I am travelling with 10 guests including 3 teenagers and 3 youger kids, we would prefer close to the pool and very very close to a comfort station, we would prefer not to be in a pet loop. Any suggestions!

As of "right now", the following loops are preferred
Loop 100, 200, 300, 700, 1400.

So a preferred loop. When are you traveling? I ask because most of the Preferred loops are getting converted to Premiums.

I'm a little confused my reservation ir preferred we are there March 29 - April 8 / 09, I do want to pitch a tent as well as the RV, so should I be staying with my preferred or upgrading to premium???? What is my best option, keeping in mind due to a handicap we need to be really close to a comfort station. and close proximity to the pool would be beneficial as well but not deal breaking.
Thanks for the help

Most premiums do not have enough sand pad to pitch a tent, so preferrred would suit your needs better.

If you are pitching a tent, preferred is the way to go. By time you get there the only preferred loops will be 100-300, and they are very close to the marina, but none is very close to the pool. If you need to be close to a comfort station, I would recommend loop 200. Loop 100 guests have to walk to 200 for the CS. Loop 300 is pet, which you said you don't want. Sites 201-202, or 234-237 would be ideal as they are most convenient to the CS. They are also the closest to the bus stop, which you will use to get to the pool and parks. I would recommend that you note that 1600-1900 would not be suitable due to having a handicapped guest in your party being so remote (1600-1900 seem to be getting use as a sort of preferred 'overflow').

You need to stick with Preferred. They will still have sand pads.
I would suggest requesting Loop 1400. It is right by the pool/meadows area. Just request to be as close as possible to the comfort station.

Shan, they are way behind on the renovations. Unless they crank it up soon, I don't expect them to touch Loop 1400 for a bit. With all the work being done on the pool and Loop 600, that will keep them busy for awhile.

ok, I think i a catching on, stay with preferred so i can utilise the tent great, the pool reno should according to all information, be complete by mid-march, and Shan you think 200 loop and clk thinks loop 1400, I believe that when originally I was going into the 1200 loop however, I don't think we would like the pet loop. Can I make a request like that to FW, Ihave only dealt with the cabins there for the last 4 years, the campground part we have just past through, so I am a little bit void of the knowledge

Oh, I agree with Carol that 1400 would best fit your needs, I just am less certain than she that it will still be preferred during your trip. It is scheduled to be converted before your trip, and I suspect that it will either be Premium already or be closed for renovation during your trip. It seems to me that they are pretty-much on schedule. Though 600 is not done yet, 1200-1300 are and more than a month ahead of schedule, so I think it averages out.
If it is still preferred, 1433-1440 would be the most convenient to the Comfort Station.

I guess, I'm going on the fact that 900, 1000, and 1100 have not been touched yet and they were supposed to be done months ago. So who knows if they are sticking with the schedule of loops then going back to those loops, or delaying all others.
What I would do is watch here. I'm sure there will be reports of what loops are being worked on.
Then about 5 days before your trip, you can see if 1400 has been converted yet, and fax in your request accordingly.

I believe that when originally I was going into the 1200 loop however, I don't think we would like the pet loop.
You can certainly request whatever you like, just realize that nothing is guaranteed. The other thing to keep in mind is that they will sometimes put pet people in what are not technically pet loops, so it's possible you could see some even if you aren't in a pet loop. Shouldn't be a big deal unless you have a serious allergy or pet-related health issue (which someone here posted about recently), just something to keep in mind. And if you do have a very serious reason why you can't be in a pet loop, be sure to mention that in your request.
Good luck and have a great trip!

Ok, this schedule predicts 35 weeks of work. We are in week 25, but there are 16 weeks of work left to be done (assuming 600 is 30% of the way along). So they are currently 6 weeks behind schedule (this also assumes the quoted schedule should actually list the completion date of 1400 as 3/13 not 2/13!). It should be observed that the schedule for 600 is approximate to that of 900, suggesting that it is meant to merely cover the improvements and not the expansion... so either, they have additional workers allotted for the expansion, or the expansion was not planned for at the time these figures were released. I suspect the former is the case.

Also, bear in mind that you may request loops and may even be able to request close to a comfort station, but unless you go at absolutely the slowest time of the year you wouldn't be able to request a specific site. I'm sure that's not what you meant so assuming this, 1400 is one of the closest to the pool and is technically not a pet loop, but we have stayed in it three times with our dog with us on each trip. I don't know if one of the other non-pet loops is used for pet overflow, but I suspect they might. One of the times we stayed there with our dog was in October when it wasn't too crowded so I don't think the campground has to be full for FW to use the pet overflows.

Appreciate all the opinions, I am feeling, while I digest this info, is it may be in my best interest to upgrade to premium, as March/April is booking up fast if not booked already, and try to get loop 1400 as it seems to suit the needs of my party. Has anyone out there been a regular in the 200 loop is there pros and cons versus the 1400 loop, Opinions if you could

As far as location, that might be your better bet, because even if they haven't done 1400 by that time, then you could request 1200 or 1300 and still be pretty close to the pool area. However, you run the risk of having very little room to no room to set up that tent.

We stayed in 1400 loop in Oct. there was several people with pets i think they just say it's overflow pet loops (everywhere) now but as said i would make mention if you have a problem with being by pets but most pets in the fort are very well behaved and not a problem but as with everything there is a few rotten apples that try to spoil it for others if you do end up by a pet and they are a bother talk to front desk this may mean YOU will get moved we have camped in the fort many times over the last 10 years and have more people related problems and only 1 dog related ones and that resolved its self by talking to the person so good luck and have a wonderful trip

Just read in another thread that the work on 1400 has begun in earnest this week. Sooooo, if you want a chance at Loop 1400, then you need to upgrade to a Premium reservation. However, you will have to get creative in placing your tent as there will be little to no sand pad.

I did last week upgrade to premium, it was tough though, they had told me they are completely booked for the 2 weeks mar 29 -apri 10, however, I had listed all my requests a year ago when we booked, and then they decided to upgrade the loop we had requested, which they put on the resevation, and I guess that helped because they gave me the premium. So thanks for the updates.

8 days later, they've begun work on 1400! Thank you, thank you... me? a prodigy? You're too kind... :goodvibes
sorry, couldn't resist! (I'm so seldom right!)
