* Secret Mickey Exchange - Each participant will get the name of another cruiser and will then be that person's Secret Mickey. Secret Mickey's can leave notes, small surprises and anything else they can dream up for their special cruiser. Near the end of the cruise we'll have a group meet where the Secret Mickey's will reveal themselves and give their special cruiser a gift. PM tinkerbelle77 for more information and/or to add your name to the list!

* Fish Extender Gift Exchange - Surprise your fellow cruisers with a small gift in their Fish Extender! Participants will need to bring one small gift for each family participating. PM tinkerbelle77 for more information and/or to add your name to the list!

Me, Erica, 34
DH, Lionel, 37
Cabin 6588

Still trying to recruit a few more people. DU tells me I have 430 days left to do this. I know it's going to go fast!

We are in for fish extenders, secret mickeys, and anything that involves champagne, pyjamas or both. :thumbsup2

Great new thread!!

At time of cruising...

Liz - 37 and turning 38 on April 13th during the cruise!
Megan - 13 (turns 14 on May 2nd)

Please add us to the Fish Extender and anything else. Cabin 2100.

Just a note - on my last cruise we did a meet in the promenade lounge at 3pm on the very first day. This worked REALLY WELL. It was just before the drill and gave everyone about 45 mins to have a quick meet and get to know faces/names for the rest of the cruise.
Could we do that??

I can't help with Shots around the Ship or the Edwardian Tea as they are new to me as well, but I am familiar with the other two.

On some of the bigger DIS cruises, special lanyards are made. We had them for the September 1st Special Cruise on the Magic. They had the name of our cruise meet thread and the dates on the actual lanyard and then we had some artwork with our names (both forum and real name) in the little plastic wallet. A number of people did get together and it was their present to everybody on the thread. This meant that we would instantly recognise each other around the ship (we had about 400 DISers on that cruise).

Secret Mickey is like Secret Santa. Usually a questionnaire is sent out to everybody participating and then closer to the cruise each participant is matched up with anothr person. Throughout the cruise the person spoils their Secret Mickey recipient with notes and little gifts. Usually on a sea day towards the end of the cruise, everybody gets together and hands over the final gift, that is usally bigger than what is left throughout the cruise, to their recipient.

Corinna, shots around the ship:drinking1 only requires you to attend a late night trip to as many of the bars:drinking1 and clubs:drinking1:dancer: that we can hit before they close.::cop: if unsuccessful we may have to try again. dam i would hate for that to happen..:cool1: :rotfl2: ...and pink wigs will be optional!!!!!!!!:cheer2:

Hi fellow cruisers,

Boy, ya'll sure posted alot for this cruise since the last time I was able to check it. I saw the link to Craftymouse's link on the first page. I know there is a list of people on the cruise. There was also information for joining the FE and Secret Mickey. I signed up for both.

I'm also up for any other fun activities as I'm cruising solo. Although I'm 41, I'm willing to be adopted :rotfl2:

Could someone explain the "champagne girls" logo I've seen?

Well, I finally quit drooling and thinking about it and bit the bullet and booked it!

I booked myself and TBD as DD will be in college (she thinks she should ditch and sail--WRONG!) Don't know if I'll ask a friend, agree to book somebody's "spare" so they can go in a 4 person cabin instead of a 5 or what, but there's plenty of time for that to be figured out. Hate to spend the bucks to sail solo, but that's a possibility too.

I'm a frequent flyer--17 sailings on the Magic so far, and 4 more DCL trips scheduled before the trans-Atlantic. LOVE the special sailings! LOVE the sea days....LOVE the MAGIC!

So...hi to everyone, and I'll catch up with the group soon...there's lots to read.

I'm in a 10 gty as that was what was available....will try to change the ressie to a rebooking while on board when I sail next.

Oh I didn't post a photo! Well you don't get one of me because I am on a MASSIVE diet to lose 100lbs before I cruise! :)
I had some health problems over the past couple of years that peaked this past fall and the weight piled on....and on....and on.....
So I have this big life changing goal of a dress size I want to be when I cruise! I am very self conscious right now.
In the meantime - here is Meg on formal night of our past cruise on Jan 10 :)

Hi, looks like I'll be joining y'all. :)

It's going to be me (Rachel, 21 at sailing) and my dad (David, 50 at sailing).

We are booked in a Cat. 11 GTY, and I am THRILLED! I've been on 3 3-day Disney cruises, but nothing like this. I am so happy.

I would sign up for things, but I'm not very good at choosing gifts for others.

Thank you! :D

I'm a huge Doctor Who fan (new series) so when I needed to make a new signature so the ticker would fit, he was a natural choice!

Wasn't there a message board set up on the last thread?
I would love to have a place to discuss specific things without having to dig through this thread.
For example - a discussion on transportation options in Spain from port to airport - whats the best deal, etc???

Or just a place we can post great info we find over the next year regarding the ports and stuff.

I have a few pictures of my dad, but he's a bit reserved so I don't think he'd appreciate me posting his photo on the 'net. Also, I think I'd like to sign up for the FE and Secret Mickey, but I know he won't want to participate.

Karl is bringing up a good point.

Shall all invovled in FE also gift for FE??? I know we had people on the WB Repo that wanted to be gifted but didn't want to gift. Personally, I think that sucks. It really is about sharing in my mind. A gift need not be expensive to be given, it's really the thought that counts. Even a hand written note would be better than nothing in my mind. So do we have this discussion early and often or shall I just slink away with my opinion???

Wasn't Tinkerbelle(something else) wanting to be in charge of FEs??? or was that Secret Mickey???

Yeah, I was wondering how something like that would be handled. I have no problem bringing gifts (except that I'd be terrified of bringing something stupid! And feel very strange "sneaking" around the ship putting things in people's fish  ) but my dad wouldn't do it at all. He might enjoy my excitement, but he wouldn't join in. Of course... you never know, he may surprise me! He's already agreed to go with me to Palo and to the entertainment, which I thought he wouldn't do, so who knows what else he'll come out of character and do? :goodvibes

But this is the guy who won't wear his CC lanyard even on 3-day cruises...

Anyway... I feel mean making such a statement, but I think it's horrible to ask for gifts and not give any in return. It seems very selfish and inconsiderate. Just my $0.02.

The WB PC Repo was my first experience with FE's, & it seemed wonderfully organized & was alot of fun. The way I remember it was that whomever wanted to participate was put into a small group (there was a group for each day of the cruise). Each group organized & put together their gifts, & distributed them on their assigned day. Thus there should have been surprises in the FE for everyone on each day of the cruise. I didn't think that someone could only ask to receive, but not be in a group to also give gifts. That definitely doesn't seem right!

It's easy... you want to get... you give...

And if we have alot of people interested, some can form groups and give - lots got together and did some great things. (So Karl can join in with others and we won't tell anyone he was involved...;) )

It's fun when it's silly things too... it's just fun. And remember... your FE can be whatever you want it to be... not just a formal FE... I used a Xmas stocking type I made out of Dis green material...

PM tinkerbell77 for more information and/or to add your name to the list!

* Fish Extender Gift Exchange - Surprise your fellow cruisers with a small gift in their Fish Extender! Participants will need to bring one small gift for each family participating. PM tinkerbell77 for more information and/or to add your name to the list!

How about this idea - we sign up for FE by cabin. If a cabin is participating, everyone in that cabin is included. But each cabin only has to give once - so if you have someone in your cabin who's not really the Fishy type - it doesn't spoil your fun - and they still get a little group love. :grouphug:

Does that make sense?

Hey guys...
I just found another very cheap way to fly home for westcoasters
Aer Lingus again....

Fly to Dublin for about 30 euros each
Dublin to Seattle is about 220 euros each!

(I haven't priced other west coast cities, but sure they are similar).

Aer Lingus sounds like a good idea for the west coasters. I am hoping I can get a comparable airfare to what I got through disneycruise. I just priced 2 category 11's vs 1 category 4 and I can save amost $3000!

Aer Lingus seems to be the least expensive based on this year's rates, even to get back to JFK.

As far as fish extenders go, we'd love to participate. We have three cabins this time around. On the PC cruise we had so many people participating that we broke into groups. I didn't personally bring something onto the ship, but we contributed to the cost of our give-away, someone else from the group brought the give-away onboard, and then we all broke up the list into portions to give away our stuff on our given day. Not only did the kids love finding items in their FE every day, but they had such fun giving away our items on our given night.

Our group: (ages at time of cruise)

Ginamarie and Josh (me and DH) both 31
Olivia (DD) 3
Salvatore (DS) 1
George and Dawn-Marie (Dbro and SIL) around the same age (I won't list their age just in case they wouldn't want me to)
Giuliette (DSis) 11
Grant (DBro) 6
Rosemarie and Daniel (my parents)

Here's a picture from our last cruise. It's not our exact group since my dad wasn't on the last cruise and my grandparents won't be joining us for the TA, plus Salvatore is just a little bean in my belly in this pic, but you get the idea :)

Hello everyone,
I just found this thread and wanted to join in. Yesterday my DW & I booked on this cruise. We wanted to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with something special and decided this would be it.
We have so many questions about this cruise, my head is swimming.
No. 1 is why the Disney Cruiseline website doesn't have much info about activities and excursions. We have been on the Wonder for DVC Member cruises but never on more than 4 nights.
We will be cat 9 stateroom #2576

Ohhhh Karl... don't you recognize me??? ;)

I loved 'the boys' Teddy Roosevelt "I took the Isthmus" t-shirts!

Can't wait until we see what he does for this one...

One of my favorites from PC Day:

Olivia says "HOW long do we have to watch this canal???"

No fast pass for this ride...

I don't care for any of them.

You my dear are eating at a different table.. :rolleyes1 Perhaps on a different ship... :rotfl2:

A little of who I am.
I'm Ray (or Raymond, or anything else, just don't call me late for dinner)
my DW is Barbara, we're both 45, live in east San Diego, California.
We have been on a 3 night Disney cruise, 4-night DVC Member cruise, 7 night Hawaiian Island hopper cruise, we are going on this years DVC member cruise and we just can't wait to go on the transatlantic cruise.
we will be in room 2576, and are in the late dining.
I'm looking forward to all the info I can get out of you all. I'm usually a lurker, so I probably won't post a whole lot, but I'll be here.

Anyway, am I rambling?

Did you notice the phrase "now often used affectionately" in that definition?

Had a great time.

I checked the first page and didn't see my name listed. I had posted my info on page 2 (post 29). But here it is again.

I had already joined the FE and SM from the first thread. Does that list continue over here or are we starting over for the FE and SM?

Also, no one answered my question about the "champagne girls" logo - who (or what) are they? :confused3

During our PC Repo May 2008 cruise, a bunch of us (50 or so) got together and had Champage tasting. I don't think we have an instigator amoung us, but we do have members.

champagne girls

They were a group of gals on our westbound Panama Canal Cruise. They brought bottled of champagne with them, and had arranged a space in one of the clubs on board to have a champagne tasting party while they wore tiaras.

(It probably would sound better if one of them told the story)

Or post a picture... (and an explanation...)

Champagne Girls started on the WB Panama Canal Repo last spring. UKANGEL and EllaEnchanted (Deb) started talking about how they loved bubbly - before you knew it - it grew and they started up a gathering of women and a few men... :rolleyes1 who just wanted to get together and taste some bubbly and visit... You had to wear pink.... you could drink anything you wanted or not - but the theme was bubbly. We had our mascot... Miss Sassy Bubbles (Cherie) who was dressed in Tink Pink and we had our own graphic - which will come back in my siggy as soon as my other photobucket account likes me again...

One of the women who was supposed to be on the cruise with us sent the champagne, but I think if we do it this time, we just chip in and order what the ship has...

Here is a picture of us in all of our Pinkish Glory...

It seemed to be sort of an "exclusive club"....possibly by special invitation? I had read of the champagne girls existence on the threads before the PC cruise, & I even had a cute pink shirt with me "just incase", but never heard of when or where they were getting together.

To hopefully avoid that situation, if any future similar type of "events" occur, it would be nice for the details to be announced somehow more effectively so any interested participants have a chance to join in rather than feel left out! Just some advice for the future. There may have been others that would have liked to participate also! princess:

Hope that made sense....it's definitely after midnight. :cutie:

I don't think there was any exclusivity about the event and I don't think it was by invitation either, rather it was by unabashed self-invitation and self proclamation as I recall.

The only thing about it was that it was gender specific.

it made sense, and it WAS by invite (sign up) and there was a list and it did close. (not my idea, nor style) I suggested that champange be purchased on the ship , but it was ordered ahead of time and shipped aboard and that was why there was a cap on the # of people.

If it is done on this crusing, I'd agree with Michelle that the champange be purchased thru the ship.

The first one also had a dvd playing in the background by the vendor that supplied the vino.

I bet we could get a bar tender to talk it up if we really needed that aspect of the CGs.

All the being said, I DO NOT LIKE CHAMPANGE (unless it's Dom) so I'm not heading this up....Michelle are you gonna do it????

It got closed off because of the amount of people attending - I think we had like 40-50 signed up... those in the picture are the ones who were there... I think it depended on how much wine was shipped (I wasn't involved in that...) but I think we can open it up to anyone and just order a few bottles... some tasted... others drank... others, well... But it was fun... it's a smaller group I think, (well, maybe...) but I think that we should just order what's on the ship and go from there so we can all join in.

I don't think there was any exclusivity about the event and I don't think it was by invitation either, rather it was by unabashed self-invitation and self proclamation as I recall.

OK, then I suppose I have to make the Edwardian Tea exclusive. I'll use a method, mainly based on whim as to who can attend and who cannot.

(You know, we used to have an annual Christmas tea party at our house. It was a popular event. The very last year we held it, we had 180 people at our house. That's 180 people for a tea party. And I do mean tea party. The ONLY beverage served was hot tea.

I remember people asking what we had to drink, and I responded, "You have anything you want to drink, so long as it's hot tea. We don't do no specials."

(The equally amazing thing is that I had tea cups and luncheon sets for 180).

10 teapots, and about 70 or so luncheon sets. We never really had 180 at one time, about 75 at a time. But we had, 180 people come to tea.

It was the gala winter event. Our tea party was famous. People clamored to get on the guest list.

I only wish I was exaggerating.

Actually it was a hoot. I think what shocked people so much was that they had such a great time and all they were drinking was tea. Plus chowing down on two long tables, packed with cake plates, and tiered cake plates of sweet and savory goodies.

Safe travels and check in when you can... wouldn't want to miss out on too much...

oh the teapots of course, just the rest of it NOT ;)

don't choke on your chortle...and don't call me shirley ;)

:lmao: :lmao:

Champagne is not my most favorite beverage either (although I'm not opposed to some good sipping on occasion). It sounded like a fun thing to do & a way to get to know some of the others at the same time. :dance3:

I totally agree... men should be invited to come, & they should definitely be required to wear pink (most men look good in pink too). :lovestruc :bride: princess: They could serve as the CG escorts, or chaperones or ........... :cloud9:  :p

I think we can invite the Lost Boys Beer Club to join... but they DO have to wear Pink...

YES... the flag has been hoisted!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

10 teapots, and about 70 or so luncheon sets. We never really had 180 at one time, about 75 at a time. But we had, 180 people come to tea.

It was the gala winter event. Our tea party was famous. People clamored to get on the guest list.

I only wish I was exaggerating.

Actually it was a hoot. I think what shocked people so much was that they had such a great time and all they were drinking was tea. Plus chowing down on two long tables, packed with cake plates, and tiered cake plates of sweet and savory goodies.

do you think they will let you into the galley to bake?

I think, among certain circles, that's what they call a gigolo.

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

woud you be my gigolo? do you have a pink shirt? never mind, i'll bring wil, he can wear pink, he won't want to but I'll make 'em :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

why did you have tea service for 180????

and I figure that you'll let me know or not if I'm invited. I guess it will be based on my behavior the night before at dinner, or perhaps if I have accumulated enough brownie points over the whole trip, or better yet if you are SCARED of me :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Sadly, we don't do the tea anymore. It got to be too much for me. I started baking the day after Thanksgiving, and then every free moment I had until the day before the party.

It was so bad that I had to create a project plan.

That's a good idea! I'd love to be in a "party" of some sort, but even though I'll be 21 on the cruise I still won't drink. Or I suppose those of us who don't drink could have Sprite and pretend it's champagne.

I'll join you even though I'll be 58yo by the cruise but I don't drink either. Maybe we can get some "fruity" drinks with umbrellas for show. ;)

Hey all...

I'm a bit under the weather so if you are looking at the first page of the thread, I haven't had the chance to update and change a few things.

I did go through the old thread and gathered names (we have about 50 that were "booked" but I have to check and see if they are still with us... I will send PM's next week...) so if you see info that's not right... I probably just didn't change it yet.

The list of people and FE are just a list I copied from the other thread intending to update and change it... so I'll give you a heads up in a couple of days to go and check and see if I got it right...

SO glad to see this thread has taken off alot more than the first one did... I think we've got our groove and hey...it's not long before we'll be saying it's only a year away.... :thumbsup2

I know we shouldn't link dining until after we do the booking at 90 days out (and 105 for you... :goodvibes ) for excursions and Palo, etc... that screwed up DCL's computer last time... and we couldn't book if one was online at the same time as anyone else at their table...(thus the dreaded :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: ) (although I know sneezing on Wednesdays totally throws their computers off!!!:rotfl: )

I clicked on the calendar for April 2010, but the one-way airfare quote is for April 24, 2009. Airfares are usually not available to be booked until ~ 330 days before the flight. Notice also that the flight to Dublin leaves at 10:50 a.m. You might want to do a stopover there on your way home. :)

As I'm sure you've noticed - I've been critical of DCL's pricing for their 2010 Europe cruises. However, I think the two Transatlantic cruises are very well priced, and deliver a lot of Disney bang for the buck. Although I'm interested in the eastbound TA and my birthday falls during it - I probably won't be booking this one. I told my two daughters I'd take them to Europe in 2010 - and the younger one will still be in college while this cruise takes place.

You could do both Transatlantic cruises for the price of the Barcelona to Dover cruise - not including the airfare! On the other hand - if you do both TA cruises, you could book a Barcelona-home flight for April and a home-Barcelona flight for September. Then you book a roundtrip to Orlando in April and home in October! :)

Ok - I'm really considering this cruise -- rate is still really good so I may just bite the bullet & join. Glad to see some familier & friendly faces!

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!

You'll take the drugs and risk the seas?????

What type of cabin do WE WANT?:goodvibes :rotfl: :goodvibes :rotfl:

(This would be way cheaper than the UK/cruise option)

Hi Nancy - I personally agree w/ you about the Baltic prices - but I do :lovestruc DCL & this looks like this cruise would be the only way for me to get on to the Magic in 2010.

Of course - Jackie (ibouncetoo) is trying to talk me into the Barcelona to Dover cruise :rotfl:

I think Jackie should just take the Magic both ways and backpack through Europe in between...

Don't think Jackie hasn't thought of that one... Right Jackie??? :hippie:

I posted on the original thread, it's been a while.

:)

Here is our info:

Me- Camille
DH- Coco
DD- Victoria- 19 months (by our cruise)

We are traveling with friends:

Clyde
Gwyn
DS- Gavin- He will turn 4 during our cruise

Claudio
Lily
DD- Catalina- 30 months

We are booked on cat 9, but, we are thinking of changing cabins.

I am interested in doing the FE, but, I'll have to check with Gwyn and Lily to see if they are interested. This will be our second DCL cruise, unless I can convince DH to cruise in 2009. We were on the inagural Med in 2007 and had the best time of our lives. We are really looking forward to the TA with all those seadays to enjoy the Magic. This will be our daughter's first cruise and we are telling everyone that she is going to Europe in 2010 with Mickey!

GREAT!!!! I'll update the thread later tonight... do you have a picture to share?

:surfweb: Just checking in on the thread.

I'm on the road for a two week audit review of some of our West Virgina units. I'm in Parkersburg, WV tonight watching Forrest Gump. :happytv:

Hi Brack!!! Safe travels!!!

Don't worry... nan and I have it all worked out... We feed you RUM for the 6 days at sea and some kind of hang over remedy when we get to Europe... :thumbsup2

(By the way... those 6 days... while you are unconscious... Nan and I will be lounging in the Rainforest...)

Monica and Jackie aren't joining us. Even though this is far less expensive than a 7-night.
