we had been talking to a guide in october ... decided to wait til we were on vacation in november there to purchase.

purchased BLT onboard the Wonder with the sales rep/guide there. He said b/c we had started with our guide at WDW, we would have her.

i see many of you mention you got an email from your guide or info from your guide. It just occured to me, we haven't even heard from our guide since we got off the ship. we just got all the paperwork and everything via mail.

just wondering how often you heard from your guide?

Only if I've initiated the call for an add-on :goodvibes

We almost always have a 'Welcome Home' message from our guide on our room phone when visiting WDW. :thumbsup2

You probably didn't hear from her because she had to share her commission with the Guide on the ship.

Would you share details?

The last I heard, BLT owners could book beginning March 1st for reservations beginning Sept 1.

Never. About once a year I get a generic "Buy something, will ya?" letter from Disney with my guides name stickered at the bottom. But that's doesn't really count as hearing from them.

Same here, we get a few generic emails or letters with his name pasted on them but never really hear from him in person.

We hear from our guide about add-ons. Oh, and an occasional reminder about referrals. Not sure when else I'd expect to hear from him.

I wonder when this would appear on the member website! Are they usually up to date?

We get a general DVC email from our guide every few months, and she always sends an email right before our trips and calls while we're at DVC to check in and make sure our stay is going well.

We have a GREAT guide. Our first guide left DVC, and then we got a stinker of a replacement guide so I called and asked to be switched. We hit the jackpot and LOVE our current guide. :goodvibes

Oh, you mean that guy who fell of the edge of the Earth after we bought our membership? Poor Soul.

Same here, actually my DH answered the phone on our first visit home and it was our guide. She asked if our room was OK, and if we needed anything.
She also left messages when we've stayed at GCH. We also get the add - on notices.

Wow we can book BLT as of this Sunday???? So glad I looked at this thread, I only bought 2 months ago and don't expect to be hearing from our guide except with the occasional offers for add-on's. A "welcome home" phone call sure would be nice though, we'll see in Dec when we (hopefully) go for the first time as owners. Thanks again for the info, you made my night at work so much more manageable!!

I have never heard from my guide, no emails or phone call,s but maybe that's because we live in the UK.

I never hear from our guide either.

Over the years I have called her (to add-on, extend on my small OKW contract) and she is as friendly as ever. She always tells me and sounds as if she truly does remember me (I think we have met with her twice).

I feel very comfortable and have a nice conversation with her when we do speak. There really is no need for her to call. If she called me whenever something new came up, I might think she is trying to sell whatever it is so the postcards are fine (even though we hear about everything here first, lol).

We have never heard from ours....I don't necessarily blame her as we bought in WDW, then upon returning home we realized you could buy resale, proceeded to cancel our sale with our Guide and bought where we really wanted via resale.

We do get the generic mailings, but like someone else said, that really doesn't count.

Also, I kind of like this arrangement. I am not sure I would want to hear from my guide. Even a welcome home message upon arrival. I have a cynical mind so I would always be thinking that it really wasn't a welcome home, it was a don't forget I am here if you want to add on whilist on vacation.

Guide? What's that? :confused3

Absolutely no contact, other than the aforementioned occasional materials with her name stamped or stickered on. I didn't get a warm & fuzzy feeling from her when we first took the tour at SSR, and that's definitely been confirmed.

My only pleasure is that our two add-ons were through the Doorway to Dreams, so she didn't get 100% of the commission, and our original purchase was via TTS (yes, we do understand that she received no commission for that sale, and that might have upset her...)

I understand that their primary "mode" is sales, but it's sad to hear from other members who actually have occasional contact, whether at home or down at their DVC room.

Anyone have a recommendation for a new guide?

I've never heard from him since we bought, and I like it that way. If I want more points, I'll call him. And I already have 100 people welcoming me home when I check in, one more welcome home on a phone message isn't necessary.

Never. I assume it's because we're small fish in a big pond and have never done an add-on. We only get the obligatory phone mail message during our stays at WDW. Actually, I think we got messages on our first 2 trips down but not on our last one. He may have been off too tho or something.

Yeah, I never hear from mine either. I actually have a hard time getting calls back. I'm ready to plunk $20,000+++ on an add on and can't get info. Its frustrating I tell you.

Our guide called us in our room on our last DVC stay. We took the tour of BLT but did not add on. I appreciate him calling as we will add on someday!

My guide is suppose to call me? Other than giving them a check, I have never seen or heard from him. Oh yeah, his name is Tony Heard.

I think that we must have the same guide. She is very pleasant and always seems genuinely happy to speak with us when we have a need. She is always responsive when I call her with any questions. I am happy with the level of contact that we have. It would annoy me if she did call all of the time for the same reasons as AnnaS.

Not since 1996 when we originally purchased. Our original guide was Alan Ladd who has been gone for years. I could not tell you who our guide is now since all we seem to get is generic emails and mass mailers, no "Welcome Home" phone messages for our last 4 trips.

We have a lovely guide. I sincerely hope that her family in Kentucky has power during this time after the bad storms. So many don't.

I didn't used to get phone messages from her when I visited WDW, until I mentioned that fact here. :) Now, I do...unfortunately, it's always a machine message because we are out of the room, so maybe it is pre-recorded and just sent. However, I would like to meet her face to face. We bought without a formal tour or anything like that. She often goes to VB, and we've come close to being there together, but never have overlapped. I admire her enthusiasm and positive outlook.

never.....also she knows that we live in San Diego but did not even call us about the sale of VGC.....guess she does not need the commission :rotfl2:

Seems she would have called to give me the low down on the price and all.

she does however know that I frequent this board and that half the time we have the info before she does:beach:

I have never spontaneously heard from our guide -- get some pre-printed referral cards with her name on them.

But I did get a call from someone else's guide on voice mail at VWL on our last day there at 9 am, welcoming them to the WL for their first DVC stay, and offering to help them with anything. I didn't erase it, but don't know if they got it. I think the guide asked how their trip from OH was, so if you've never heard from your guide, and were staying in 3x61 studio at WVL 7/29/08 I got your message! :rotfl:
