My DD who is 6 1/2 was placed in a cast today, just 20 days before we leave for WDW. AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!! Fortunately, the doctor put her in a removable cast, since I explained about the trip, and she can walk a little bit. (She bruised a toe bone, and has to stay off her feet alot, and NO RUNNING which is like telling her not to breathe!)

Anyway, does anyone know of an umbrella stroller for a 48 pound child? The ones at Toys R Us are for up to 35 pounds. I bought one, but don't know how well it will hold up. We can rent a park stroller if they are big enough, and put DS (5 yo, 34 #) in the umbrella if need be, but DD will need it in the airports, at the resort, etc, not just the parks.

It looks like a GAC for the stroller to be used as a wheelchair will also be needed. I'll be on an ECV most of the time, assuming we can get one, which might help some, but is there anything else I might not be thinking of?

Thanks!!

It sounds like you will have an interesting trip! Here's some pixie dust to help you get thru it.
If your DD fits in the umbrella stroller, it might be OK just for the airport, other wise you could probably get a wheelchair at the airport for her. From what I've read, I don't think I would trust it for longer term use with a too heavy child.
The strollers at WDW are pretty big. I've seen some big kids in them and Safari Steve, a MK CM, has said they have several sizes, with the biggest one fitting up to a small 12 year old.
Several people have posted renting strollers from a company called All About Kids. (http://www.all-about-kids.com/main.htm) They rent large size strollers (the big kind used for special needs kids that hold up to 100 pounds) and children's wheelchairs. The strollers look like giant umbrella strollers, or there is another type that looks like a jogging stroller. You might be able to find someone in your town who rents them out (maybe a medical equipment company). That way, you could have the stroller for the trip from beginning to end.

For yourself, you might want to think of renting an ecv from one of the off site companies. Here are the companies that DIS posters have reported renting from:

Here's a link to a question on the Theme Parks Board (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=207818) that might help you out. It lists some strollers with a little higher weight limit than the one you bought.
