Hey
I am planning on eventually doing the Disney college internship and I just wanted to know everything about it! Is it worth it? Are their certain things you can't do like highlight your hair? Is there anyone out there who did it who had a tattoo? I have one which is easily cover-up-able but I was just wondering if they make a huge deal out of it. I just basically want to know everything whether good or bad.
Thanks a lot!

It's totally worth it! I know a few with tattoos but they need to be covered if they are seen. Also, highlights are allowed (I have them), but they MUST be very subtle. I know someone who had to be sent to get their hair dyed.

The CP is definitely worth it! I have done 4 CPs, and am hoping to go back down for Fall 09. It is such a great experience.
As for tattooes, you can have them and work for Disney. They just have to be covered up while at work.

Thanks so much! What have your jobs been during the college program?

I have done merchandise, custodial, QSFB, and character attendant (twice).
For Fall 09, I picked character attendant (which is the role I am hoping for), attractions, photopass, and FSFB.

I'm merchandise and I love it. I get to meet so many interesting people from all around the world. I have never once had a rude guest which is always nice - it seems everyone is happy while they are in Disney World!

That is correct. There are 3 apartment complexes for CPs- Vista, Chatham, and Patterson. I have stayed in Chatham and Patterson myself, and they are very nice.

Thanks I wasn't sure if they would just be like college dorm rooms :scared1:
Also any tips on beating homesickness? I am an only and when I go to disney it will be the first time I have ever lived away from home besides being halfway across the US!

Hey! New Chic here! Thought I'd give my opinion on the CP!
I heard about the program from my College Roomie. It was the best thing I've ever done in my entire life! I met the best of friends, I have friends from all over the WORLD! (Literally). Disney is a wonderful place to work for. It truly is a real life experience. That was the first time I was ever on my own (I mean except for College dorm life).
I met my roomies online, drove down with them, able to room with them. Worked together, Lived together, fought together, but all was in love!
You get to be at the most amazing place ever. You get to see on a daily basis what Walt Disneys dream does for people. It truly does take you out of your element when in the parks, and just seeing the excitment through out the parks, or the smile Cinderella can put on a little girls face. It's awesome to witness these things!
Wow! So, I totally feel like I am writing an essay for English Class, LOL
But seriously, I think that only thing you would regret is missing this experience of a lifetime!
Ok, I am done!

Yeah I was trying to think of a job I would hate doing at disneyworld and I really couldn't think of one! I want to help families have the best trip ever since I grew up in a Disney family and I have been 7x! I think it would be so much fun. My dream job would have to be the ride narrator for the Great Movie ride!

Yes. There is 2 parts to the audition- Animation and Dance. The animation part is like charades (they give you an example, and you act it out). Then for the dance part, they teach you a routine and you perform it in smaller groups (around 3-6 people). Some people may get called back for a puppet audition, or a second dance round, and some may be pulled for face (not all auditions do this).

Before we go any further, you have to be very careful about posting character heights. We have to maintain character integrity (I will PM you).
Okay, now that that is over with:
As you can see from my sig I have done in 3 CPs. One was in Fantasyland Attractions and the other two were in entertainment. While in entertainment I was trained in Share a Dream Come True Parade, Disney Dreams Come True Parade, Celebrate the Season (Christmas Castle Show), and Spectromagic. I also performed in the Hollywood Stars and Motorcars Parade and the accompanying Happy Hollydays Parade. If you click on the W.I.S.H. banner in my sig you will find a link to my WISH journal which has a picture of me as a Santa Girl for the HollyDays parade.
Joanna pretty much hit hte nail on the head with the audition. I have done two since it was more than since months between my entertainment programs. You can still do face depending on where your tattoo is located.
As for the apartments: They are truly apartments. They have a full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, and sink. They are fully stocked with dishes and silverware. You have a living room with couch, chair, and table. You must supply the TV. There are bedrooms off of the living room, and of course bathrooms. They are nothing like a college dorm room. Unless you have a medical single you will room with another person. Each person has a twin bed and night stand. There is one dresser, but there are two sides so that is not a problem. You will share a walk in closet, and there will be a locker for each person i nthe closet to lock up valuables. You supply the padlock.
I have lived in Vista and Chatham. Both have their pros and cons, but I prefer Chatham. Vista did not have a pantry, and it was much older and dirtier. It was also somewhat smaller. For whatever reason, Vista is the
"party place" and that is most definitely not my scene. People will say Chatham is less friendly, but that is not true. It's just much calmer. The apartments are bigger and in general it is nicer. Patterson was not yet built when I was down there.
