I wanted to give you guys a quick dose of why we opted to leave. My area was completely like a warzone. I talked to a neighbor today and my power was still flashing. She still is running her generator because she can't rely enough on the electric for heat. I am so glad we left..... I pretty much dread going back to help clean up. Its all pretty much still solid. Tomorrow is the first day its been warm enough to begin the thaw.

The first morning about 1/2 way through the icing event:

Please note this tree was still upright:

After the ice event was over and the snow had begun to fall:

My neighbors yard, all the trees use to be standing...

We left through this. If I hadn't had 4 wheel drive I could not have gotten out over fallen trees. Of course is my roof didn't have a good 3 inches of ice it would have been torn to pieces from drooping trees I had to drive through

We ended up with about 3 inches of ice, 4 inches of snow initially. Of course then we left and there were another few inches of snow the next night. Ugh

I am so glad you left! OMG, that looks just awful. I feel sorry for your neighbors that are still stuck there.

That's exactly what happened to the 6-foot tall evergreen shrub by my back door. I've never seen anything like that happen before. :guilty:
