Hi Everyone!

Here's a little introduction. We're Jason and Cathy and we've been married for 6 years. We've been to Disney three times in six years, so yeah we're Disney freaks.

We stayed at Disney 9/14 through 9/26. From the 14th through the 19th we were at Pop with free dining. This was our first experience on the DDP. We spent months here planning our meals and doing research. We planned out every meal, every dessert, and every snack. We love planning our vacations almost as much as we love going on them!

Day 1
So we get to Disney and we drive through the gates. What to do first? Check in to the hotel? Tempting, seeing as we drove for the last 18 hours to get here. (Only had one accident, but that's another story) Hit the parks right away? After that drive, no. If you know us, then you know the first thing to do when you get to Disney World is Beaches and Cream!

Our research told us that Beaches and Cream would be a waste of a TS credit, so we paid cash. Besides, we like to share so this would be cheap. We decided, months ago, to split a double cheeseburger and then split the Fudge Mud Slide. It may not sound like much, but we were stuffed.

Her half, without all the "yucky stuff."

His half, with all the good stuff:

The mud slide and the happy (but really, really tired) couple:

The Mud Slide up close:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/PretripDisney2008298.jpg

The Mud slide was really good, but it doesn't beat the No Way Jose. The food here is surprisingly good, and they always split ours so nice.

More to come, so stay tuned!

(Cathy typed this one up, my comments are in parenthesis - Jason)

Ok, so we checked into our room, took a nap and headed over to Downtown Disney. We decided to eat at Earl of Sandwich as a counter service meal.

Maybe you can tell from my burger I am a picky eater. Part of the planning is researching menus and looking at pictures to make sure that I will like something on the menu.

Earl of Sandwich had three sandwich's that I wanted to try. Sometimes my husband and I order two things that I want just in chase I don't like one of them. This is great except my husband likes to try the weirdest things and I sometimes feel that I hold him back from trying new things. I am truly blessed with a great husband. (Yeah she is.)

We got the meatball and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (we're grown up kids). On the dining plan we also got a drink and a dessert, so we had a brownie and cupcake. We were too full from the sandwich's to eat the desserts! Both sandwich's were delicious, but we agreed that the peanut butter and jelly was better (It really is!). Weird that something so plain would be so good. (Try it)

The PB&J

The meatball sub. Don't get us wrong, this was good too.

Our desserts:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/PretripDisney2008307.jpg

After that we headed to (my favorite place in the World!) Goofy's Candy Kitchen. Uh-oh. We restrained oursleves (too full from the sandwiches) and used one snack credit to get this:

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1001-1.jpg

Rice Krispie treat with sprinkles on one side and m&ms on the other. (My favorite people are those Goofy workers.)

Thanks for all the comments and kind words. I think we don't look pooh sized next to that giant Sundae!

Day 2
50's prime time cafe

Well this was an interesting place. We got here a little earlier than our reservation at 2:50 because I was hungry. This was our lunch, so it was getting late. It was crowded, but we got seated within 10 mins. The staff was great and the food was sooooo good.

Again, we spit everything. I loved the pbj shake and the fried chicken. It was very good. The chicken pot pie was good but nothing special. I only thought that the smores dessert was ok, but Jason loved his Dad's Brownie Sundae (Best thing I ate on the trip, and you've seen that Fudge Mud Slide).

We were in a sugar overload at this point. This is one of the few places to get a shake as a drink on the Dining Plan. Our rating: probably would not go again, but was fun to do once. The theming was excellent and our waitress was good, but it was nothing that special. (My rating: Would go just to order dessert.)

The Fried Chicken:

The Pot Pie:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1054-1.jpg

The shake:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1055-1.jpg

The shake part2:

Smores:

Dad's Brownie Sundae:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1058-1.jpg

At this point the Dining Plan was giving us a bit more food than we needed. The shake and two desserts was too much.

POP's food court

Ok so we are on the Dining Plan and the cool thing about eating at Pop is that we had our refillible mugs that we would fill then get a bottle of juice or coffee shot for the morning. We were impressed with the food court and ate there three times. Pop is our new favorite resort because of this place. We love that the food was good too.

I got the chicken alfredo and Jason got the Mom's TV dinner of fried chicken. For dessert, I got the tye dyed cheesecake and Jason got the dirt and worms (Remember, grown up kids here).

Our food at POP:

Tie-Dye Cheesecake:

(Beware of the cheesecake, it has side effects.)

(Apparently there are similar effects in the bathroom, if you know what I mean. Cathy will kill me when she reads this.)

Day 3

The next day for lunch we also ate at Pop. (Can you tell we liked this place?) This time we had a burger and pizza and split both. Sorry we forgot pictures for that one.

Boma Dinner
This is Jason. I’m writing this one for reasons that will soon become clear. You may remember that Cathy is a very picky eater. She mentioned she felt guilty about not letting me try new things, so she let me pick Boma as a meal. She wanted me to pass on her one word review. “Yuck.” She said even the macaroni and chicken fingers were bad.

I had a different experience. We were there when it opened and they were playing drums before hand. It was really cool and I was getting into it. I started dancing around and acting fool, and I know Cathy was getting embarrassed.

We finally got seated. I walked the buffet and I was in heaven. So many things to try! There’s going to be a lot of pictures:

Salad on the buffet. The Apple Vinaigrette was great.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1094-1.jpg

More salad:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1091-1.jpg

Another shot of the buffet:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1095-1.jpg

The soups:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1090-1.jpg

I tried them all! The Seafood Stew and the Corn Porridge were Oh my gosh! good. The best part about the buffet.

My first plate. I don’t even know what it was but it was all good:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1096-1.jpg

There’s prime rib and chicken. Can’t really screw that up.

Meanwhile, a Cathy plate:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1097-1.jpg

She barely touched it.

Back in Jason’s fantasy land,
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1098-1.jpg

Yes that’s three different kinds of hummus. The olive one was too die for.

Wanna see something we both like?
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1093-1.jpg

That’s all. Yep the only stuff she really liked.

This is what I do to fruit on a buffet. I destroy it.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1104-1.jpg

Ok, this happened:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1100-1.jpg

That’s the watermelon salad. I took one bite. I can’t say I didn’t like it. I think I liked it a lot. I just wouldn’t ever take another bite.

Ever.

An aggressive dessert plate to finish this off:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1102-1.jpg

Uh, two plates:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1105-1.jpg

After that, we waddled over to the Not So Scary Halloween Party and scored this haul:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1270-1.jpg

Cathy didn’t get as much:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1272-1.jpg

I’m just better at this stuff.

Day 3
This is a special day because it’s Cathy’s birthday! Yay!

Yes she picked two characters meals for this day. I think she liked them all fawning over her. Here’s Cathy:

1900 Park Faire

I loved this place! The omelet was so good. Now, I am not what you call a omelet type of person. Too much yucky stuff. These were really good. The strawberry soup was great, and the character interaction was neat. (I’m good at getting the characters going.)

This was my birthday so Jason got not one, but two cakes. (Because I’m awesome) They looked so beautiful! The castle was smaller than the other pictures on here seem, but I got the cheesecake and it was soooo good. The Cinderella shoe was very pretty. I wasn’t crazy about the mousse in the shoe, but the chocolate mousse next to it was to die for. Of course, after a buffet I was too full to eat any of it, so we packed it up and ate it the next day.

Overall, I would rate this place high, a must do.

We got here earlier than expected because our pictures (that was also really amazing, but that’s another story) were at 8:30 and dining reservation was at 10:20. I must say we got in early to every reservation we had but never had trouble getting seated.

On to the pictures!

It's watermelon rind salad, so they slice the watermelon rind ultra thin and then there's a dressing that is surprisingly sweet but also sour.

Chef Mickey's

This day was so awesome! We were at Animal Kingdom for extra magic hours and left a little early for Chef Mickey's dinner. It was amazing how perfect everything was. We got to Contemporary right as the fireworks started, so we sat in the car to watch. Perfect ending to a perfect day. But there’s more!

We went into Chef Mickey to eat. Good food! I know I am picky, but they had this broccoli with feta cheese and black olives on it, so good! (I was amazed she tried this, let alone liked it) The mashed potatoes were really good and the chicken strips were great. I really enjoyed eating here.
The characters were so cool and the desserts wonderful.

All in all this day was so my favorite eating day, plus I got spoiled. Definitely would do both of these two again. Maybe switch and do CM for breakfast and 1900 Park Faire for dinner.

On to the pictures by Jason,
Cathy’s opening plate, which finally looks like a full plate:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1359-1.jpg

She liked this place so much she started with two plates!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1360-1.jpg

Minnie stopped by just as I got back to the table.

Minnie really liked the shirts.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1357-1.jpg

I also started with two plates, and they’re certainly manlier:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1367-1.jpg

I know it sounds unlikely, but literally everything tasted great. I was extremely impressed here. I particularly loved the shrimp salad.

Then it was Goofy time. Cathy with Goofy:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1362-1.jpg

Goofy is my favorite, so I was going crazy at this point.
Me freaking out:

Me with my dream date, sorry Cathy:

Cathy with Donald:

Me with Donald, he really liked me because I told him he was a better cook than Mickey:

Cathy with Mickey, her favorite here:

Me with Mickey:

Did you think I was done eating? This food was so good I even had to hit the kid’s stuff!

Cathy and Pluto:

Pluto is my second favorite and I really thought he was good.

Time for dessert. Cathy’s plate:

My plate(s):
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1386-1.jpg

All of this was really good. The brownie was awesome. Notice me hitting the fruit hard again.

Cathy, sad because this cupcake didn’t live up to this morning’s birthday surprise:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1389-1.jpg

The cupcake might have been good but Chef Mickey had way too many desserts that were better. We don’t’ have picture of all the candy we got. Reese’s pieces, really good granola with lots of dried fruit, gummi bears and a lot more. They also have really good cookies. I’m ashamed to say we had our back with us with zip-locs, and I filled one with a bunch of stuff. Cathy was so embarrassed.

Glad to hear Cathy had a happy birthday. It's so nice to hear a positive review of CM dinner. It gets such negative reviews here. We plan on doing CM for dinner for our first night and now I can't wait. LOL. Was that prime rib on one of the plates? I have been hearing some reports that they took the prime rib away.

Can't wait to read the rest.

Day 4
Akershaus

Well, this was our last table service meal during free dining.

Akershaus had a line when we got there. Mary Poppins was outside Akershaus and she had a nice line herself. I just liked getting to see her. Waiting to get in, we were amazed to see how often the cast members would come out and yell a name, but no one would come. The poor cast members had to hunt some of these people down. It was very rude to me.

Once we got in, we first had our picture taken with Belle. It was cool that she didn't like my shirt! She said she must have got it out of Jasmine's closet. (See the pictures to see why.) We received an 8x10 and two smaller pictures. It was nice, but we'd have rather been able to use Photopass.

After that, we were seated to eat, and the place looked nice. For this meal, they bring a platter with eggs, sausage, and potatoes. I didn't like the potatoes; they had onions in it. (Onion is a dirty word in Cathy's world) They also have a cold buffet. The meal was OK, but nothing special. The characters were ok, only Aurora, Jasimne, and Mulan (I loved the characters. Aurora is my favortie princess, Mulan was cool, and Jasmine, well, look at the pictures. I am a guy.) The lighting coming into the dinnig room from the windows made pictures diffucult from our table.

My rating: If you have girls, this would be neat, espicially with the pictures being included. The other buffet had better food for me and better character interaction.

Pictures by Jason

Our waitress noticed Cathy's pin, then asked me privately if she minded if they sang. Nice touch, and I said yes figuring it would serve her right for trying to have two birthdays. Then, they brought her a cake and sang Happy Birthday in Norwegian! It was amazing, the coolest thing about this place. Obviously, there's no guarantee they'd do it for everyone, but still a neat thing.

POP

Again

Ok so we loved the POP Cafeteria! This was our third time. I got the chicken alfredo again too. I reallllly like this meal and for dessert, well, someone told us about the sundae bar.

UH. OH. This happened:

You may have noticed that we have not talked about our snacks on the DDP, you know the ones we planned for so long, and knew exaactly what we wre going to get. (We had a spreadsheet!) Well, we didn't get any of them. Not once did a snack cross our mind because we were so full all the time.

On the last day, back to Goofy's! We used all our snack credits there.

Next: Our last DDP Meal

Looks like you guys ate really well. We'll be staying at Pop and now I know for sure that I'm going to have to plan to eat there at least a couple of times. The chicken alfredo does look quite yummy. What is this sundae bar? Is that a dessert on the DDP or a snack credit? I know my boys will be wanting to make their own sundaes every day!!

Loralie

Thanks for the compliments, and sorry for just now answering. Yep that's prime rib. I would say even without it the buffet is one of, of not the, best at Disney.

Day 5
Our last meal on DDP
Pepper Market

Well, I had wanted to go to Kona. I really wanted the stuffed french toast. We even had a reservation to go. We planned to pay out of pocket. But after much debate, we thought we could get back to it next week since we were still staying another week (Don’t worry, there’s still a whole week to go before the review is over!), we cancelled to use our last counter service meal.

I had read many reviews and the whole trip in the back of my head I thought of Pepper Market as a possible place to go. Let us just say that if you can go, go! It was sooooo good. I had pizza and it was really good, I had been craving pizza all week so this hit the spot. The worst part about this place is that there’s so much on the menu picking just one thing is hard!

My pizza. We got there as they were switching from breakfast to lunch, and I was the first to get this. I don’t know if that helped get me special attention, but this was nice and fresh. I was afraid at first because I saw the CM making my pizza roll the dough in corn meal. I’m not used to that. Then I saw her put a lot of cheese on there and gave it a chance. It was way better than I thought it would be.

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1515-1.jpg

Jason here. I wound up with the fish tacos but could have gotten any number of other things. I was surprised by how much food there was, a whole extra plate of rice and beans! I was also pleasantly surprised that there was one than one type of fish in my taco. I think I had at least two kinds of white fish, salmon, and even a few pieces of catfish. Check out the pictures, there’s enough for three good sized tacos plus that bean plate.

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/Disney2008vol1514-1.jpg

Wait, we have to get dessert too! They have a whole station for desserts. We settled on these. I think I liked this more than Cathy.

Day 5
Ok, well we left the world today to go to cocoa beach. Don't worry we returned the next day. After Pepper Market, we went to Downtown Disney to use our snack credits. We got several make your own treats at Goofy's. I also got cotton candy (that was so good) and some fudge.

We then drove to Cocoa Beach for the night. This was the worst part of our vacation. Even though this is a dining review and not a full trip report, just a preview of how bad: we checked into our hotel and the room was dirty, had not been cleaned from the previous guests, and we had got lost going to Cocoa. As you can imagine, we were tired and crabby and in great need of a nap. Imagine the joy of opening the door after carrying/dragging our luggage to the room to find it so gross you couldn't possibly stay. I called the front desk, and they said they would switch rooms.

At this point, I was crying and Jason is on the phone trying to get us a room back at POP (I'm never leaving Disney World again!). Well, they upgraded us to the other hotel on site. (It was a Super 8/Ramada). It was better, but not much.

Ok, so on to the food review. We went to the mall and decided to eat at the food court. We both went to Flamers, a burger joint. We used to have these in St. Louis, but not any more, so I was excited to eat here. Their burgers were usually really good. We ordered our food, and Jason got all of his food but the man asked me to speak to the cashier. She said that they found roaches by the meat, and they could not give me my burger. Great, par for the day. The food was yuck worst of the trip. (My food was actually good. I thought it was hilarious that roaches meant no hamburger, but they expected me to eat my food. I was fine with that because I'm a really non-picky eater. I had chicken strips that were dipped in buffalo sauce. Really spicy and really good.)

No pictures, but look out, here we come Disney! Another week of reviews to follow. Hope everyone is enjoying this. We are having fun writing this and then our trip review, stay tuned.

Day 7

We went to the beach and after twenty minutes we were done. I was ready to get back to the World. We stopped at Burger King and got burgers. We had a coupon and a gift card so this meal was free.

We then went back to the World (Yay!) and checked into Old Key West then headed to Magic Kingdom. We ate dinner at Peco bill's. I was hurt after Big Thunder Mountain. It threw me back against the seat and hurt my back, so I needed to sit and rest. (I love this ride but Cathy thinks it's dumb. Guess I'm never riding this with her again).

Peco Bills was right there, so that's where we ate. It was on our maybe list, so we figured why not. I got a burger and fries with a good cheese sauce. (Nothing makes Cathy happier than cheese sauce) Right after we were seated a bad storm came along and boy did the place fill up. The food was nothing special, but the toppings were nice and so was the cheese sauce. I did get an extra burger. I ordered a burger and fries but only got a burger. I thought they'd just through some fries in with it but gave me a whole new burger and fries basket. :confused3

After that, we decided that we were going to get some of the planned snacks for dessert. The Dole Whip float was good, but on the first drink the juice was warm. I thought it was just good, probably would not buy one. (I would, it was awesome!)

Later while waiting for Spectromagic to start we had the ice cream sandwich from Main Street Bakery. The best dessert I had on the trip, yumo!

Jason's BBQ Pork sandwich with all the yucky stuff:

Cathy's burger, and the extra burger we got, plus a lot of that extra cheese sauce:

The Dole whip (Yum!):

The ice cream sandwich. Couldn't decide between the chocolate chip or the sugar cookie, so we got one of each!

Quick one at Disneyquest Foodquest

So we had some time at Disneyquest after a morning at Blizzard Beach. We grabbed some food there. Last time we were there we really liked it, but they've changed ownership and it seems to have dipped in quality.

It was still pretty good though. I was the good husband and agreed to order a bunch or food we could split. We had a cheeseburger, nachos and a hot dog with cheese sauce. It's nothing fancy, but Cathy likes it that way. If you're at DisneyQuest, it's not overly expensive and it's pretty good quality.

Day 9

Since we were staying at Old Key West with a full kitchen, we went to buy a few groceries. We heard not to buy them at the crossroads (Goodings) after the fact. Not really knowing our way or any better, that is where we ended up. We decided to get some lunch and went into this pizza place to get a pizza. The name was Flippers Pizza.

Wow is all I can say, it was good! Now listen up folks, they deliver to the Disney resorts. We had Disney pizza delivery two years ago, and it was terrible. This was so much better and the best part is they served Pepsi products. I’m a huge Diet Pepsi fan and only getting Diet Coke in the World was killing me.

(My version is that this place was awesome! I knew it was going to be good because we walked in and two cast members were in there having lunch. They looked like more corporate types, too. I figure if they’re heading here it’s got to be good. They definitely had a subtle twinge of annoyance because we had Disney shirts on. I’m sure they were looking to get away from the tourists.)

I also have to mention the service here. Our waitress was wonderful. She was very helpful and took great care of us. On to the food!

The cheese garlic bread. This was very good and the marinara sauce made it really special. We both really liked this.

The pizza, pepperoni and meatball. Yum Yum Yum!
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/food%202/Disney2008vol2017.jpg

Earl of Sandwich Redux

This is the fun part of the trip. Jason's mom and step dad joined us for a few days. They had never been to the world so this was exciting. They drove down and unfortunately didn't get there until about one in the morning. They were hungry but nothing was really open so we wound up at Steak n Shake. No pictures for that.

The next day we went to Downtown Disney. We loved Earl of Sandwich so we had to take them. They loved it too! This is a great place to hit in the World, and the value is impressive here.

I got the broccoli cheese soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. Both were YUM!

Whispering Canyon Café

Sorry for the brief layoff, we took a short trip for Valentine’s Day. It was fun, we’re in love, Ahhhhh! Back to the food!

Jason and I went to Whispering Canyon Café for my birthday two years ago and loved it! (Yeah she’s lucky and gets her birthdays off peak. My birthday coincides with spring break and/or Easter, so no luck for me.) We had to bring his mom and step dad here, because we knew they’d love it too.

Now I am not a big meat eater. Give me some broccoli and cheese and that’s a meal, but this place has the best meat in the World. If I like it, you know it’s good. (Now me, I’m a carnivore, and I rate this place the best meal on property. The food is outstanding.)

They do have a menu, but I don’t know why you’d order anything but the skillet. Here’s the menu:

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/food%202/Disney2008vol2110.jpg

What are you gonna get, vegetable enchiladas? No way. Now check this food out. We first selected this restaurant based entirely on food porn pics, so we figure it’s our duty to share the love with others. (If this is your first time, you’ll be in for a treat.)

The first skillet, with the cornbread and salad:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/food%202/Disney2008vol2111.jpg

Now as you all know I don’t do salad. I will say this is good cornbread but will let my husband join in. (Cornbread is one of my four food groups. I love the stuff but only when it’s done right. This place does is right. It’s nice and moist and keeps you wanting more.)

(I flew through my first soda, and so did Cathy. Well we both paid for it, but I made out. The waiter said the big guy needs a big drink):
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/food%202/Disney2008vol2113.jpg

(He delivered. Cathy asked for a diet, so she got the diet size):
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/food%202/Disney2008vol2114.jpg

(A better shot of just how big my drink was):
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/food%202/Disney2008vol2115.jpg

(Notice the onlookers oogling my drink. For the rest of the meal, I tried to drink it all so he'd have to refill it. I couldn't do it. This was very fun and we really enjoyed all the antics here. Luckily, Cathy did get a normal sized drink a bit later.)

Now it’s time for the main event. Here she is, the mighty skillet:
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/food%202/Disney2008vol2117.jpg

Wow! Jason and I knew what to expect and we were still impressed. Jason’s mom and step dad were blown away. Everything here was good. You have roast chicken, good. Pork, good. Ribs, good. Shrimp, yuck, don’t do shrimp. (The ribs and shrimp stand out for me as the best) They got rid of the sausage for shrimp. I loved that sausage and now I have to deal with yucky shrimp! (The sausage was better then anything on this platter. Still, it’s all good.) Corn, good. Under the corn, mashed potatoes, good. The beans are only alright.

This meal was fabulous. Probably the best meal on our trip. It’s not a trip to Disney World without this restaurant. (I agree.)

The skillet pictured was for four. There is a smaller skillet that just has less of everything on it. Something to keep in mind is that this is all you care to eat, so I doubt they encourage sharing. We did get some more ribs and shrimp, so we ate even more than was pictured here.

Day 11
Rainforest Café Animal Kingdom

We know a lot of people say bad things about Rainforest Café, but we love it! We’ve been to the one at Downtown Disney, the one at the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas, and now this one. We love them all. We get into the insane touristy places like this. All the animals and the thunderstorm, yes please give us more. (I can not wait to get to the T-Rex restaurant. This was a month before they opened and you could tell they were close. It looks sooooo cool.)

As a little background, this is at Animal Kingdom, and Jason’s mom had just gone on Expedition Everest. She’s extremely susceptible to motion sickness. However, Jason is too, but he loves this ride. It was the first roller coaster he’d ever been on. We thought she could handle it, but she really can’t handle going backwards. She was very sick as we went to eat. Apparently, sucking on a pickle helps so we kept getting her pickles. They seemed to help some. (So did getting sick in the restroom.)

There’s not much food here. Jason’s mom didn’t get anything and we shared a pizza. From other people’s pictures this looked really good, and we thought it’d be a cheap meal. Well, it’s nothing special. It wasn’t’ bad, it just wasn’t good. (I want to say that I love their food here. The paella is good and their ribs are awesome. This just wasn’t up to par.) Here’s the picture:

And his mom had the pickle:

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm209/jason_zakibe/food%202/Disney2008vol2201.jpg

We still love this place though. The atmosphere was great as always. (I think the one at Downtown Disney was better.)

Beaches and Cream part 2

Wow this place stays busy, even late. We were there around 10 and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Even then we wound up eating at the counter. (Does Disney think this'll lose it's charm if they expand it?) Oh well, it's definitely worth it. We wanted to show Jason's mom and stepdad how cool this place was.

We split a meal again, but this time went for the hot dog. It's really good! (Why don't more places do bacon on a dog? It works baby!) They do use real cheese instead of a cheese sauce, boo. Jason also tried the onion rings, yuck on onions. (They're good, nothing special. Regular onion rings.)

Jason's mom and stepdad split the cheesesteak. (It looked nice and big, even split) They liked it:

They got the Milky Way:

We went with the No Way Jose. It's by far the best sundae here.

Oh man, this is the number one must do for us. This place rocks, and everything is fantastic.

Great review! Is that bacon on the hot dog ? I am resisting all temptation to go to Beaches and Cream but the No Way Jose is really working on me. We have all the meals lined up but I am trying to think of a way to squeze an ice cream run in there. Did I read somewhere that this is close to Epcot ? Maybe we can sneak over on an Epcot day.

Just catching back up. Great job, guys!!!

I have to say that though you didn't RAVE about the O-rings at B&C, they look frickin AWESOME. I wish I had that plate right now. B&C is on the Boardwalk, no? I might have to try it.

BTW, was at TRex a couple weeks ago. You will LOVE it if you love RFC. We did!! ;)

Sorry folks, we've been busy lately. We're taking classes to become foster parents and also are adopting a child. Things are hectic right now! I do want to answer some questions and will post more when Photobucket kicks back in.

Yep that's bacon!

Beaches & Cream is at the Beach Club Villas, which is very close to Epcot. You can try to sneak over during the day, but I don't know if I would. If you go at a typical meal time, it'll be packed. The wait could be terrible.

Besides that, one of the great things about Epcot is the food! I think you'd be missing out if you didn't get food there. For just an ice cream run, maybe stop by after. Check their hours, they're usually open fairly late.

As I mentioned above, B&C is at the Beach Club resort, which is of course right next to the Boardwalk. I am compeltely pumped for T-Rex.

We are from St. Louis and our whole family lives there. We actually moved to Bonne Terre, MO, which is about 80 miles from St. Louis. If you know where Farmington is, we're about 10 miles before Farmington. But we're still St. Louis folk at heart. Go Blues!

I've loved reading your reviews and looks forward to the rest, but as the mother of two adopted children, I totally understand how you can lose focus on all but the adoption process. I wish you the very best of luck and congratulations. You're about to embark on an amazing adventure... dare I say even better than Disney.

Love your reviews! We seem to have the same taste when it comes to food. We plan to eat at almost every place you ate. We also list Beaches and Cream and Whispering Canyon as two of our top picks from our last trip. Great reviews Thanks! I wish you well with your adoption I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

You hooked me with the title and kept me with the reviews!;)

When I read the Review Pop Century as I was reading I read about "Mom's TV dinner." I expeted it to be TV dinner like...but no it was a real one in the old metal trays. I will have to take a blast to the past and try one when we stay there.

I have really enjoyed your reviews!!! I love how both of you put in your two cents about the places! I'm pooh sized too and quality and quantity is important to me so ya'll have helped me decide on places that have the best portions.

I love Boma!!!! I love the exotic foods. We are trying breakfast this time and dinner. Plus...drum roll....SANAA!!! Very excited. I'm looking so forward to the rest of ya'lls review!!

BTW, I LOVED the shirt you wore on your birthday! It was so cute. Did Belle really say that to you? I would have told her that I can be a princess but still love my jeans! LOL
