Has anyone ever gotten an upgrade from a value to a moderate resort? How did you get it if you did?

Sorry but I've never heard of such a thing happening. Disney is not going to upgrade you for free. The most I could see you getting is an upgrade to a preferred view at check in when you booked a standard room originally, but then that would also depend on the season and how many people are booked into the hotel, etc.

We did get a free upgrade from a moderate to a deluxe.(CBR to AK) December 30,2007. It was lovely. We were only staying 2 nights so I guess it made sense to them to bump us. Good Luck.

Did they do it over the phone when you made your reservation or when you were at the Moderate resort?

When we arrived to check in they asked if we wanted the upgrade to AK. We said yes!

I've heard that upgrades to other hotels are really very very rare. You're best bet is to book the hotel that you want to avoid any disappointment. It's more likely to be upgraded to a better view or type of room within the same hotel.

Yes.
It was a long time ago, before The DIS I think, and before I learned about codes and packages.
I guess they gave me the upgrade since I was booked at rack rate. There was just one value resort then, All Star Sports, and I suspect it was overbooked. This happened just when I booked it, a month or so before arrival.
I had gotten the confirmation papers in the mail for ASSp but before I had a chance to send in the deposit I got another set of papers for Port Orleans Riverside, same rate of $59 (back then). I simply sent in the deposit for that and everything went smoothly.

A very long time ago...almost before the values. (1994) I got an upgrade form CBR to WL. We were booked at CBR for our honeymoon at $89 per night. We got a call a couple of months before the wedding and were asked if we would like to stay in a brand new resort. Sounded good to me, so we ended up with a King room on the ground floor of WL for $89 per night. How cool is that? :cool1:

The only way that upgrades between resorts are likely going to happen is if for some reason, Disney is not able to use the room that you are booked into. Hoping for an upgrade will lead to disappointment. On the other hand, I am frequently upgraded on non WDW hotels.
