This week I replaced my old failed DirecTV HD TiVo with the Tivo HD. This new TiVo is network ready and offers some fairly cool features. One is a feature called Podcaster. Guess what I added?
I just had to share. :goodvibes

It's a TiVo feature...but if you're willing to shell out the bucks for the "premium" DVR, you CAN use the TiVo HD with FIOS. Got two myself as a long time TiVo user (still have a first gen unit that was on loan to my sister until recently).
I had also gone to DirecTV a while back and had 3 DirecTV TiVo units, which of course I hacked so that I could share programs between rooms, larger hard drives, even a web interface that I could access remotely in case I forgot to set something to record...gave that all up so I could get HD without cutting down another tree (although the new units do share programs with each other).

Turn in your FiOs box for cable cards. May or may not require a truck roll.

Oh yeah...used to post there regularly. Helped iron out some of the scripts, etc.

Verizon does not allow user installation of cable cards in any area I know of. You still need to shell out the bucks for the TiVo as well, and the subscription.

Cool Brian. I added a hard drive to my old Series 1. That died last year but has lifetime service on it. Now it has a green screen serious error which is most likely the hard drive. Sometime I'm going to figure out how to fix it. Might have to go to Weeknees. My DirecTV HR10-250 went weird on me a few weeks ago. I repaired the power supply but the software must have gotten messed up. It closed itself down. Tech couldn't do anything with it. I can still use it as an OTA tuner with dual buffers so it retains some value for me.

I'm waiting for FiOS now but it's not on my street. Didn't want Comcast and DirecTV is gone tomorrow. So it's OTA until at least summer. Love the tuners in the Tivo HD. I'm pulling Manchester, Providence, along with Boston on an indoor antenna. The tuners in the HR10-250 couldn't touch this.
