Get a fairfx card!!! They only cost £10 and if your with quidco - you get £7.50 cashback so it only costs £2.50, their exchange rates are much better than elsewhere:thumbsup2
(they should pay me to advertise for them haha)

Can be bettered - current rate on fairfx is 1.1075 where as the closing rate commercially on Friday was 1.134.
If you get a Nationwide Credit Card they will give you the commercial exchange rate without taking any commission off unlike the majority of other cards so if you had one, that is a better deal and also no cost to buy.
OK, downside is you have to get approved for one....just pointing out the options.
Totalling obvious though that it is a far better rate than the tourist exchange rates although you don't need to exchange cash again get cash from the ATM, again Nationwide don't charge when using their debit card and you get the commercial rate - of course you need the funds in the account...

The best rate I could find on the High Street was in M&S.
We got 320 Euros for our £300 on Friday :sad2: -
not great, but has been worse recently.
Wish I'd had the time/energy to do more research for online exchanges, though.

The point being made is that you do nothave to change money up. Just put the cash into your bank account and use the ATM in country - best for the rate given is the Nationwide Current Account.
If the need is to have money before the point of travel then that's a choice purely for the individual but they will get a poorer rate...individual choice but far better options available...
