Hopefully get some scrapping time in - I'll need it just to relax
Keep a :) on my face!!

What a week I've had!! I have to change my position at work. I found out on Tuesday that if i'm out sick for more than 2 weeks, I'm off the books. Oh really? I didn't know that!! So, I have to go from my nice weekends position to a full or part time position. It stinks!
Then I go to the eye surg today...2 surgeries. No, he can't do them both at the same time... Out patient, I'll look like DH socked me for a couple of weeks, then he gets to sock me in the other eye :rotfl2: First one is 3/17, and 2nd one is in April
Then waiting all week for the boss to call me...I finally called him... he still doesn't know what my salary will be...so much has changed...blah blah blah....3 quartile...blah blah blah....wage officer didn't call him back...blah blah blah.... So, now I have to decide, do I want evening/night shift part time, or a full time day shift will probably open when I give mine up... I can't sleep I'm so stressing!
Sorry for the long vent, but it's a huge change in my life! Both DS say "take the day shift"...DH is "take the evening/morning, can that be full time?" BFF and good friend at work say "take the day shift." My head is spinning!!:guilty:

Debbie, which one do you want? Whats going to make you the happiest?
Do you Dss need you more at night or during the day?
It sounds like youre a hospital nurse. Which of those 2 shifts go faster for you?
You have a big decision to make!pixiedust: to help you make a decision best for you!

List the good and bad of each shift. Then see which one has the bad ones you just can't live doing every day.
Best of luck Pixie Dust that the choice is the right one for you.

01-30-2009, 07:32 PM
oh so sorry to hear that you have all this going on Deb. I agree with Ann. make of list of the good and bad of each shift. then take it from there. It's so hard making a decision like that. I hope that you will make the right one. Do what your heart tells you. Pixie dust for some help with the decision.
Keep venting. It's what we are here for.
:flower3: :grouphug:
Oh, Deb, this certainly has been a week from heck for you. I am sorry. You know we will be sending tons of dust free pixiedust: for your eye surgery. It's times like this that I dislike that we all live so far away. You need your DIS friends nearby to help you get thru this.
I agree with the others, get all the facts, look at the pros and cons. Think about what would be best for you and your family and in the end, go with your gut.
Po3, how is little Bit doing tonight? Better I hope.
Aroyer, I have one suggestion for you. Take this advice from a chronic SEVERE sinus sufferer, Niel Meds Sinus Rinse. I used to have to take prescription decongestants twice a day along with Excedrin and sometimes even that didn't ease the pain, and certainly didn't keep the infections at bay. The first two weeks of doing the sinus rinse, I did it twice a day, and if I feel a cold coming on, otherwise I do it once a day. I know longer have to take the decongestants, and when I do get a cold it is much shorter in duration. If you can't find it down your way, let me know and I will mail you a package. That is how good it works.

po3--I hope Little Man is better!!
Deb--bless your heart!! Definitely make the good/bad list! If you still can't decide, flip a coin and go with it!
Ashley--I hope you feel better soon. . .sinus stuff stinks!!
Looking like tonight will be another no sleep night! My mom keeps SIOLB (which is wonderful), but every time he gets sleepy there, she rocks him until he goes to sleep. Now, he has decided that every night, he should be rocked. That works fine, but he comes out to be rocked and then decides to play! So, it's great fun!! The real problem we're dealing with now though is that he's terrified of the bath. He's been taking a bath in the "real tub" for almost 2 months or so (with DH in the tub with him and me on the outside helping). Last Sunday or Monday, he started screaming when we put him in the tub--he didn't touch the water, just started screaming when I handed him to DH (same routine as always). His little face turns this purply-red color and he screams and tries to claw his way up DH's arms and out of the tub. We're going to try to get a toddler-sized tub tomorrow--he won't fit in the infant one we had--and see if that works. Anyone else ever had this? He's just miserable in the bath!! He doesn't seem like he's in pain, he's just scared to death!!

Can he sit up on his own? Or close to it?
You can try the kitchen sink. My Eldest loved the kitchen sink. He wasn't keen on the big bath tub for a long time. Let him sit on the counter and stick his feet in first to get used to it.

Did I ever tell you that my DIS friends are the best :thumbsup2 Thanks for all the support. I really appreciate it. I made my lists while I was at work last night, and I think I'm going to try to a day split with evenings. DH is "ohhh, you are going to hate dayshift, I know you"...but I reminded him that I hated midnights so much, and jumped at the chance to get off of them. "Well, I guess you made your mind up then"... hmmmm, I guess so...
SIOH- I agree with the kitchen sink, both my boys loved it, and it was small enough that they weren't scared at all. Might want to try it, with just a sponge bath and splashing with him on the counter :confused3

PO3-STILL? Wow, that's terrible!! Poor little guy!! Have you tried coke-a-cola syrup? That used to help my kids settle their tummies. I'd give them a shot over some crushed ice. The ice helped with the dehydration too. :grouphug: Hope he feels better soon! :laundy: oh yeah, fun!!
Lisa- you mentioned that netipot thing last fall and I went right out to get it. They have at Walgreenes and Walmart around here. All I can say is thank you! It works!! Just let me tell you, once you get over the intital "you want me to put it where? Do what? Are you kidding me?" reaction, and watch some funny youtubes, I can say I feel it's kept me healthier this year than years past.
So, DS20 comes around the corner last night after I got home and says "What happened with your job?" I told him about the way DH thinks I should take the midnights position...he looks at my and says "I can't see you staying up all night. Mom, you are a happy morning person. You sing in the morning, and crash at 10 at night. Take the day shift if you can get it" :rotfl2:
So, all I can say is if I can get the dayshift, I better love it. I can't come home and complain to DH...ever...nope not ever...he will have a big 'ol "I TOLD YOU SO" just waiting for me :rotfl2:

Another vote for the kitchen sink!! Just have some towels on the floor in front of you because they love to splash and watch you slide like a crazy woman!!! :)
Sorry to hear Little Man is still under the weather..
Debbie ~ sorry you are dealing w/ the work issues.. I agree w/ what everyone has said... make a list... and for sure...follow your heart!!!
Hope everyone is doing well today.... I'm getting ready to take DS12 to school to catch the bus for his game this AM... I'll come home finish getting ready and than go to his game... grab him after his game and race back home to DS8's first game of the season... DD was to have practice but she is about 4 shades of green this AM.. DsS is staying home w/ her until he gets picked up to go to the college game w/ a friend... hopefully she'll be sleeping til we get home..but if not we are only a 4 min drive from the school to home and I can get to her..

I used to get it from the pharmacy, had to ask for it, it was behind the counter. It's the syrup they use for coke. Flat coke is supposed to be good for upset tummies, and this was some old remedy told to me by my neighbors who were elderly. It's thick and sweet, but the crushed ice makes it super cold. Then they would sip...only sip slowly, and munch the sweet ice.
When my kids were little they didn't like the gingerale flavor, so this was a great alternative. And munching the ice helped get some fluids in them, and the sugar gave them a bit of energy.
Yikes Nan, hope she is feeling better! I hate that feeling!! Seems a lot of "special buckets" are in use this weekend!

PO3 - My doctor said to have them take one sip only one sip every ten minutes of gatorade/pedialite/plain water. It's having a constant slow intake of fluid that will help keep dehydration away. If they gulp, it'll come back.

We refer to it as waterboarding in our house. The initial sensation is wierd, kind of like getting a snort full of salt ocean water up your nostril, but it really works. I have not had a sinus infection since starting the sinus rinse. I wish I had started it long ago. I wouuld have saved a fortune in sick time, doctor bills, prescriptions, etc.

I can attest to this.. I left to go to DS12's game today... left DH in charge.. he let DS8 gulp a water bottle full and play BB on a sick stomach.. guess who got sick w/ 3 minutes left in the game...and than DH turns around and is MAD at me! Needless, to say there were some heated words exchanged when we got home and I told him what a dope he is!::yes:: :furious:
So, now I have 2 down.. DD had to go to town w/ me for a shoe fitting for the wedding...
I'm telling you DH is really rubbing my nerves today... we can NOT have any more sn** days....

We have the bottle. The allergist gave it to us at our last visit. I just used now. It was just too weird for me to even think about using before. My boys like the taste of salt water residue. I used it first so they could see how it runs out the other side and that I could still breath and talk while it did it. They loved it. :rotfl2: They want to know how often we can do it. My DH however thinks we are all insane and there is no way I am coming near his nostrils with that thing.:confused3 Who doesn't like salt water running out their noses.
