Dianthus-Also called Pinks and Carnations. There are 2 kinds of Dianthus an annual and a perennial.

It is said Pinks seem to have nothing but virtues: bright colors, a spicy scent, lovely blue-green foliage and a robust constitution meaning anyone can grow Dianthus. There are double and single varieties, they come in shades of pinks, white and reds. Even an orange and yellow variety.

Although I love the double there is nothing prettier then a carpet of single Dianthus in bloom in the spring. Dianthus like sun, a limy, well drained soil and grow 6-20 inches tall.

I had some multi-colored ones last year in my deck planter. They were pretty.
