Hi girls!!! This week's challenge is going to be a "10 RULES" challenge. You gotta follow ALL the rules in order to complete this challenge. Are you up for it??
Here are your 10 rules:
1) As always, your layout must be somehow Disney related
2) At LEAST 4 photos. More is ok, less is not.
3) Use at LEAST 2 patterned papers. More is ok, less is not (as many solid papers as you want).
4) You may only tilt only ONE of your photos. But you don't have to tilt any if you don't want to.
5) Use some stitching
6) Use some brackets or a bracket-shaped item
7) You need at least 1 Mickey on your page ::MickeyMo
8) Add a Disney quote or movie lyric (Can be a Walt quote, park quote, movie quote, whatever).
9) Journal in a font you've never used before
10) Don't forget to date your page.
Whew! I know its a lot of rules, but I know you can do it!!
Here is mine:

You have until midnight next Wed. 02/04 to turn in your entries!
OH!! And I forgot to mention that there will be two winners for this challenge!! I have two $5 gift certificates for my store to award. One I will randomly draw and the other will be my favorite entry.
HAVE FUN!

Oh wow this really is a challenge so much to think about. I'll have a look through my disneyland paris photos and see what I can come up with.
Brittney I love your LO, polka dots are my favourite (I'm a Minnie fan but DD likes me have a stitch avatar and I like to make her happy!) and I love the Mickey buttons I have some of those too so I might have to give them a go in my next layout :)

Great challenge Britt!! I think i have seen a couple of those rules around recently.. ;)
I love your shirts -- do they sell those at the parks or did you make 'em?
designerbrittney

My mom had them made for us for the trip. Aren't they cute?!

OKAY- I would have never done this page without this challenge. I went and looked for a quote first and built my page around the quote.
And thanks to this challenge, the kids are now eating pizza for dinner! But for some reason I don't think they mind. :)
I checked 3 times....I think I have all 10 rules......

CREDITS: black glitter paper and Mickey sprinkles (Britt), white patterned paper, stitching and hanging tag on string (WM's Green and Serene), alpha and bracket (Britt, monstrosity bonus alpha), and I just copied Mickey off some internet clipart.
Oh- the font I have never used was "Ma Sexy" for the "full of" and also the journaling font used was "robot teacher".
Thanks for this challenge!!!!!!!

Mrs Hobbes
01-28-2009, 05:32 PM
Wow how did you get that done so fast! It is so great and I love the Walt quote.
I am currently working on mine it is coming along and I am pretty happy with it. I have been at it now for almost 3 hours and it has gone midnight so I should go to bed really - this is pretty addictive!
I am struggling to fit in a bracket item at the minute mainly because I don't have one so trying to find a free template.
One question with the Mickey shape will just the Mickey ears shape do or has it got a be a picture of Mickey himself?
AlexWyattMommy
01-28-2009, 05:35 PM
Oh my goodness. You can use regular clip art on digi pages??
That is a great layout. I like how you used all the rules different than the sample. Even though the sample is pretty great too.
mommyofthreeboys
01-28-2009, 05:42 PM
I am struggling to fit in a bracket item at the minute mainly because I don't have one so trying to find a free template.
Usually brackets come with most alpha sets. Try and find an alpha set and look in the punctuation folder. If not, you could always just use the brackets on your keyboard and enlarge them. You can even re-color them. :)
Oh- and I was fast because I am snowed in!!! There is nothing to do than be on this computer.

You can just use brackets from type. Like a font. :) Adding a shadow to the type makes it look like an element even. AND if you mask a paper to it, it looks even MORE like an element. Does that make sense?
And yes, a Mickey shape, mickey head, mickey ears, all will count as a Mickey. Doesn't have to be the full mouse.
Mrs Hobbes
01-28-2009, 05:49 PM
Why didn't I think of that! Thank you for pointing out the obvious it really must be too late for scrapping now I have reached brain melt down :rotfl:
Mrs Hobbes
01-28-2009, 05:52 PM
Just another quick question do you all put drop shadowns on your ribbon or do you think they look better flat rather than popping out?
designerbrittney
01-28-2009, 05:56 PM
I personally drop shadow EVERYTHING that is a 3-D item. Basically everything except rub-ons or text. It's going to look more realistic if you shadow it. BUT not too high of a shadow. Ribbons aren't that thick, but they do need a little shadow.
Angel- Exp624
01-28-2009, 06:11 PM
Okay one question...If we are doing a 2-pager do both sides have to follow the rules ??
designerbrittney
01-28-2009, 06:13 PM
That's up to you I guess. If one side can stand alone as an entry, then I don't care what's on the other side. But if they're integrated, I'd say the whole thing should follow. Does that make sense?
quiltymom
01-28-2009, 06:51 PM
This will be fun! Especially since I just purchased the "17 Cherry Tree Lane" and "Curious Adventure" kits. I'm going to go broke purchasing stuff that other people find and scrap with! But at least I'm having fun... ::yes::

Here's mine. The second patterned paper is the mat to the big pic and if that isn't enough, there's a 3rd patterned paper matting the other 3 pics! Everything else should be obvious. I think!

Yeah finished at last :cool1:
Scrapbooking is bad for my health I have been up till 1am the last 2 nights working on LO, it's hard to stop once you get started you just want to see it finished. This LO took me longer than my first one but I am really happy with how it turned out. I think I've covered all the rules.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j131/Hobbes130/Disney/pooh.jpg
Disney Quote: “We’ll be friends forever, won’t we Pooh?” (In Pooh font)
Journalling - Font is Treasure Map Deadhand (I've never used this one before) They say a picture paints a thousand words and this one does. Your face just says it all, you were just so thrilled to be meeting your favourite bear for the first time.
Date - embossed on christmas decoration (honestly it's small though and hard to see at this res!)
I think the rest is obvious. I have a huge list of credits...
Shabby Princess - paper,s ribbons and baubles came from the following kits Charming Christmas, Country Christmas, Amore
Seebee's Freebies - Mickey Brackets
Free Digitial Scrapbooking - Red star paper and green stitched Ribbon
Beckysscrap - string bows

Gill - This is so cute! The photos are SO cheery and happy. I like the quote you used too. Since you asked for some feedback, I'd make the shadows on the square block WAY smaller. Right now they look like they're floating in the air. And is the date number upside down on purpose?
I really like how you did your title and how you used the zig zags. :thumbsup2

My mom had them made for us for the trip. Aren't they cute?!
Completely :offtopic: but I so want one! Those are way cute! Did she just have them made at a screen printing shop? I was wondering if she ran into someone having an issue with reprinting the DL logo without copyright permission?
(Sorry, I have been lurking around and just happen to notice your shirts! :) )
designerbrittney
01-31-2009, 01:55 PM
We had them printed at a local screen printing shop, and they just used the "started by a mouse" font and didn't bat an eyelash. They still have the design on file, so I could actually make an order and send 'em out if there are enough people would would like one. But it does say Disneyland. I know most of you are WDW people. But yeah - she just asked them to use that font, and they did it without any trouble. (I actually got a job at this screen print shop as a graphic artist after they made these shirts, and I worked there for a while. I don't anymore, but I still have the connections to that shop).

DH gave me a strange look when I read the last rule ("date the page") to him. His reply, "I don't think the page will enjoy dinner & a movie very much." :rotfl2: Anyway, the date is pretty subtle, in Mickey's ear.

My son performed in a Peforming Arts competition on Saturday at Saratoga Springs and we were down there for that. It was cold and rainy Friday. It was cold on Saturday. Sunday was perfect!!! We got to do the American Idol Experience twice and it was totally fabulous. It was our first time to do Toy Story Mania and I could have stayed on the ride all day! It's one of my favs now! We usually go during Spring Break in March and WHAT a difference in the crowd level in late January!! The longest we stood in line was 15 minutes!! We did have to get FPs for Soarin', Test Track, and Toy Story Mania since they are still big draws. We walked on many rides including Haunted Mansion, Space Mtn, BTMR, Mission Space, Buzz Lightyear, etc.
Here's my layout for the challenge from Carousel of Progress from Friday. Does this song get stuck in your head like it does mine? All of the photos were taken on ISO setting on my camera so I didn't disobey the "no flash photography" rule! :) My kids pointed out the hidden stuffed Mickey under the Christmas tree behind the wrapped presents. You can barely see it in my picture of the tree. I had never seen it before!

oooh this is so cool! I love the 2-pager. Love how you did the stitching across and the elements that go from old to new. So clever!!!
Glad you had a nice trip! I'm jealous.

Wow... I think these are two of my favorite pages I have done. I love the glitter paper as a background. But if you guys have any suggestions FEEL free to let me know what you suggest (for instance I wasn't sure about the placement of the six boxes and if they should be on the right side rather than the left, I also considered making the large picture black and white).
Loved the steps to get to the finished product. I completed them all using both pages. The font is Teen. I hardly ever change from the font I use for journaling so that was a hard step for me. I LOVE fonts but started using one and have always used that for journaling!

Morning girls! Don't know if I made it in or not...fell asleep last night and forgot to upload after a long day at work. It was fun anyway! I had to keep going back to the instructions to make sure I followed them. What a challenge! I think I hit them all. I'm a 2-pager at heart...a little ocd coming out here! I am still truckin' away on my cruise book from last Feb.

Krisi - I love it just as it is. I would for sure keep the color photos! The pink is too cute. I LOVE the close ups in the 2nd page. This is soooo cute. Great job.
Lvdisney - So adorable. I love seeing your cruise pages. Your pics are always awesome. I love the story too. AWESOME!! I love 2-pagers too. I need to do them more.
I decided this week to let midnight tonight be the deadline, remember? So everyone still has until tonight to get their entries in!!

Thanks Britt for the extra day :) I needed it. The quote is from the TTA; my 17yo DD had been on the ride many times and one day was all excited because she "Got" the "Tom Morrow" reference.

I feel the SAME WAY about Main Street. It's one of my most favorite places in the whole world to be.
And what are you talking about "simple"!?! This is total magic. I love it.

Everyone did such a great job - I haven't had time to comment so here they are:
Mommyofthreeboys: Love the mickey and then the sprinkles behind. Also love how you put all three pictures right up next to each other.
Angel-exp624: Love the colors and the blue dot paper behind. Great job with the journaling around the edge. Also love how you added the extra sprinkles on that paper.
Fran 98765: Love the yelow with these pictures. Great job.
Mrs Hobbes: I know what you mean about bad for your health - but I am up til 2am every night! But I LOVE your layout with the different papers - I am no good at using different papers - never think they go together. Great pictures with pooh!
Short N Sweet: Love the stitching and you did a great job hiding your Mickey cause I can't find it! Oh maybe you are counting the picture with Mickey - smart thinking!
Pooh46: Love the colors you used. Love the center of the flower (I almost did the same thing) Great clustering too.
mumloveseeyore: Great job on the redo. I agreed that the pictures look like they were floating. Congrats on getting a digi layout done!
VacationKicks: Love the background paper and how you kept the quote, journaling and date all on the center strip. Also love the date in the mickey head.
notes4theheart: Love how you journaled in the bracket, also love the stitching.
MakingScrapbooks: Love the bright colors. I almost used that same bracket! I really like the three pictures on each side with the one in the middle.
BooToo: Love the Mickey head as the dot on the 'i'. Great pictures - they are so precious.
quiltymom: Great pictures and love the sherrif Mickey!
ms.pinkpixie: What a bright and cheery page!
18MAGIC: Great grouping of the pictures and use of white space. So cute.
BriarRose59: Great pictures - those deserts look SO good. Creative way to sneak Mickey in there!
kswm30b: Love the alpha you chose to use. The date is so cute also. Great job! Love the ParkAvenue font... off to get that one!
RRBB: Great job with the date placement - Love the brackets too.
Janis: Love that you used that for the quote! Great photos. I love the divided up picture.
Yzerbear19: Love the exclaimation! So cute with the clouds and the starburst papers together - perfect for a flight!
Susan0326: Great job. Love the ipod there!
Lvdisney: Love all the patterned papers! Very cute.
Janette: Great pictures and journaling.
Photobee: What a great goodbye page! Love the strung sequins too.
Carolinagirl: Great page, love the little things you picked out from Main Street.
Everyone did a great job, this time around!
