Hi! :wave2:
We'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary with our first trip on DCL! We are SO excited and overwhelmed at the same time! We've gone to WDW almost every year since we got married in 2000, but DCL is something new to us and it's a lot of info to take in! This will be my DH and son's first cruise ever. I went on a cruise in high school, but it was on the Big Red Boat so that probably doesn't even count! LOL!

Ryan
Colin. He'll be one month shy of 7 for the cruise.

Congrats and welcome aboard! Let us know if you have any questions. We've been on a few cruises and have done a ton of research. It looks like we may have some days prior to this cruise to spend at WDW. Just got Hannah's school calendar for next year and they are going to end the Friday before Memorial day. We may be able to make this into a 2 week vacation!

We are DVC members and looking foward to our 1st stay at AKL and we are also taking some 1st time Disney family members with us. This will be exciting :woohoo: Yesterday I spent some time looking at the DCL picture of the day thread. I don't know if I can wait that long. Last time I booked 12 months out and I thought that was a long wait! Last time we cruised in a Cat 8 or 9 (we had a large porthole) this was our 1st curise. This time we have a Cat 6. Anyone stayed in a cat 6. My husband was wondering how big the verandah really is?

Haven't booked yet, but we're planning on this cruise also! It will be our first cruise EVER for me, Misty; DH, Rodney; and DD, Cailyn (8 when we go).
Here's the main reason I haven't booked yet - we're planning on doing 3 (maybe 4) days at WDW before the cruise.
Does anyone have thoughts on whether it's better to book land/sea together (will have to wait for 2010 pkg prices if so) or to book the cruise now (more room choice, can start paying immediately) and just add my own "land pkg" for the 3-4 days (will still have to wait for the resort prices to be released, but at least 1/2 of it will be taken care of)?

We plan on adding 4 or 5 days to our trip pre-cruise. I'm not sure how the pricing works out honestly, since this is our first trip on DCL. I knew though that we wanted to do more than 3 days at WDW pre-cruise, so decided to just create a package myself. Also, if money issues arise, we can drop some of the WDW days or the WDW stay entirely, but still keep the cruise.

We're DVC members, so we always end up doing our own WDW bookings around our cruises. As far as I'm aware, the only thing you can't get booking it yourself is your hotel and stateroom keys combined into one! You also have to check in at the port, rather than being checked into your cruise when you get to your resort.
Otherwise, you can get the same price on Disney transfers and probably a better deal on air as well as your hotel doing it yourself. Plus, if you look at towncars or one-way rentals, you may be able to save on transportation as well. On our last cruise, we did 2 1-way rentals with Budget and saved about $50 over the cost of DCL transfers for 3. That's $50 more to spend on the ship! :rotfl:

Using Budget were the shuttles pretty fast or did you have to wait? I'm looking at Budget & Avis.
Anyone stayed at Radisson At the Port? I have read mixed reviews but it looks great in the pictures. We're trying to find a place near the port night before the cruise.
I told my Grand daughter about your dd & she's looking forward to meeting her. She wasn't crazy about having to hang out with her 5 yr old brother on ship.
Anyone on this cruise have a 5 yr old going?

The shuttles were fast. We dropped the car off while they had people from the last ship picking their cars up, so we ended up on a shuttle that was going back to the port for pick-up - I think we got there around 9:45! After debarkation, the shuttle wait was only a few minutes. What really took longest was the fact that because they only had 2 people doing check-out/check-in on cars, it took a while to get through the line in the office.
One cool thing to note - Budget will hold on to your personal car seat at their office if you're using them round-trip. So rather than carry our booster seat onto the ship and have to find some place to store it, we left it at the Budget office and just picked it up when we got the car to return to Orlando!

This is our first trip on DCL, so I don't know too much. I noticed in our cruise documents we received last week that one night is listed as "dress up," but not "formal." From everything I have read on here, it sounds like the Wonder is pretty informal, regardless of what everyone is "supposed" to wear.

Hi! I'm a first time cruiser and can't wait until next week! My family is going to celebrate my college/master's graduation! We are all VERY anxious! I am working on the magnets to decorate my door and can't wait to get on the boat.
My crazy group includes:
My parents and me in one room
and my sister, her husband and DS(5), DS(4), and DD(2)

It's almost time. I'm not sure who is more excited me or the kids. This will be our first cruise. Can someone help me with the dinner dress code. Disney CS tells me one thing and then I read something totally different. My dad and brother are joining us and they are not dress slacks people :) They are more jeans and a polo person. I don't want to eat every night in the buffet line so I am hoping that jeans are really okay. This will be a bitter sweet vacation for us because my mom was suppose to be coming along but she passed away last December. So my kids and I are trying to find something special to do in her honor. She had all kinds of door decorations ready for us but I can't find them anywhere :sad2:

This is our first Disney cruise.
When we cruised another cruise line we did "dress" for dinner. So with that said. I just checked my passporter's DCL. Dress-up night for a 4 night cruise is the second night. So it says they encourage a jacket and tie for men. My dh isn't taking either.
He is taking polo shirts and khaki pants.
I'm taking skirts and capri slacks.
I'm not sure I'd go to Palo in jeans...
Hope this helps.
Sorry about your mom.

I have gotten a lot of feedback from prior cruisers and they say that it is okay to wear jeans to dinner. We do not have reservations to Palo so I'm good there. Already looking forward to our cruise in December 2011. That will be a great birthday gift for my DD Brianna who will turn 10 the day before we sail. I wiss I could find my moms decorations that she made for our doors. But we will have them for our next cruise. I hope to meet some of you guys that are going next week but it's a big boat and not even sure where to meet up at. I booked a catamaran sail & reef snorkeling for our day in the Bahamas and then we are parasailing at CC. Anybody else going on these same excursions?

Hey Steph, will you be at Disney before we sail? Maybe we could say hi there if you are going to be, if not, we are thinking about a meet on pirate night. I just don't know enough about the cruise to really set much up.
If anyone knows of a good place to meet please chime in here!
We could sure use some help...
It's going to be me and my dh and ds11 on the cruise.
It's easy to get a look at us if you head over to my last trip report and look at our last trip, there are plenty of pictures to identify us by. They were just taken in March, it was just the two of us though, couples only trip!

We are flying down on Thursday and are staying somewhere in Cocoa Beach. We plan to go to MK on Tuesday when we get off the ship. And then we fly home on Wednesday. So not much time to really enjoy all of the parks. I wish we could stay longer but when we first booked our cruise we really didn't think about it. But we will have fun for the 1 day we are at MK.

sdhines, your excursions sound like fun!
We aren't doing any excursions in Nassau. We (my, DH, and DS6) will be going over to Ardastra Gardens on our own...just going to grab a Taxi, I guess.
At CC we're doing the Stingrays.
This is our first cruise so we didn't want to get too "excursion heavy."
wigdoutdismom, we don't really know anything about the cruises either other than what I've seen on TV! I still get a sick feeling in my stomach when I think about being on the ship and not knowing where anything is located!!

We are planning on meeting up with mimmiepnp since we are both staying at the Beach Club...
Skuttle, would you like to try to say hi as well?
Maybe we could come up with a game plan for the ship meet...

What time are y'all doing the stingrays at CC? We're doing it at 1pm.
Let me know when you are meeting with mimmiepnp and I'll see what we have planned for that day. We have a couple of meals planned, but other than that we don't have too much planned at WDW due to the heat and not knowing how long we'll be able to take it at a time!!
