We have a new baby in the extended family. This is DS20's DGF's older sisters baby. She was born on Saturday, and DS20 went up yesterday...what a cutie! :goodvibes I didn't go up while she was in the hosp, she is coming home today, and I was invited over to meet her. So my pic should be a pic of me or DS16 with new baby.:lovestruc

Didn't get to see the baby today, so today was DS16 sleeping on the sofa instead of getting ready for his defensive driving class. Right after the pic I woke him up...then quick like a bunny I d/l the pic to my puter, and uploaded to walgreenes. I'd like to see him delete this one :rotfl2:

I took a pic of my groceries all spread out. I actually had to take 2 pics, one of each counter. $325 dollars later :faint: and that didn't include the $100 I spent at Whole Foods. LOL
Anyone want a few growing boys????

My picture today is of something I got in the mail (the third mail item so far and it hasn't even been a month) - a letter informing me that I am now licensed to practice in the state of Florida (meaning I passed the test I had been studying for for the past month :cool1: .) So now I am one step closer to reaching my dream of moving to the land of sunshine and mouse ears.

Groceries, the final frontier... :rotfl2:

This was me last year & then I started couponing. I bet I coulda got those groceries for $200.00. www.thecouponmom.com It's free!

Enough of that. Here is my photo of the day. Dh uses the girls when he can't get to the gym to lift weights. The baby is 25 lbs so he bench presses her 10 times and then bench presses the 60 lb girl about 5. And other things too.

But here is the impressive one:

that was after coupons and credit for using my own bags! I saved $30. I stopped using coupons last year but I'm back on board. I typically saved $1000 a year but last year I only saved $400 (the store keeps track of your savings) I have not how ever tallied my savings in gas. For every $100 you spend you get 10¢ off per gallon at their gas station. 2 weeks ago I paid 75¢ a gallon!!

I want to be one of those people who buys like $300 worth of groceries and pays $10.

Does this mean you're gonna move and maybe have a guest cottage in the back yard? We could all chip in for property tax and take turns staying with you.:) It would be NEEVC.

Wow! I've done the $300 thing for $10 a few times and I'm on a high for weeks & weeks. But usually my goal is to save 60%. And if the sales are lame that week I shop at Aldi. Or if I'm sick & tired of using coupons I shop at Aldi too.

.75 per gallon is amazing. We get .30 off for every $100 we spend at our local Kroger. It was super helpful when gas was $4.00 per gallon!

I just figure the more money I save grocery shopping the more money I can spend on all my hobbies.:thumbsup2

Do you shop every week or every two weeks?

I usually shop every week because our sales flyers come out every Friday. but this week I did 2 weeks because I knew DH would be home. 90% of the time he's gone so shopping week to week is good on the off chance he is home. It changes the amount of food I buy drastically.

do you like Aldi?? We are getting one this summer, but it seems like a pain to shop there. no credit cards (I never carry cash), bag your own, pay to get your buggy?

I take my savings and put it in our Disney fund. Stop and Shop tallies your savings for the year. When I do carry cash I never give away pocket change so those 2 things combined typically pay for our park tickets.

I love Aldi. They take debit card. So even though I normally put everything on our Disney Rewards Visa, it's OK to not get the rewards to save that much money.

I'm a WW leader so I eat fairly healthy & the thing I love about Aldi is their fresh produce and their Fit & Active line of food. For example I went in this past Sunday & got a week's worth of groceries (not including meat which I had enough of) for $47.00.

I got a fresh pineapple for $1.59. Fresh stoplight peppers (1 green, red, & orange) for $.99. I got cans of fat free refried beans, black beans, green beans, etc. for $.49. And the big giant Fit & Active ice cream sandwiches which are the same as the $4.39 WW ice cream sandwiches for only $1.89. They even have 100 calorie + 4 grams of fiber bread (1 pt for 2 slices) for $.99 instead of the $2.39 at Wal-Mart.

Their stuff is their own brand and people often don't like it as it is scary. But I rarely find anything I dislike. Even their 100 calorie packs of cookies I like. And their fresh salsa... And their marinated pork tenderloins... And their yogurts. And milk consistently for $1.89...

As you can see, I'm a big fan.

As for the bag your own stuff, it can be a hassle but bringing my own bags isn't really a bother to me, I just keep them in the back of the van. And if I forget, they sell them there for $.10. They are really big, nice plastic bags and I rarely need more than three or four. The getting my cart can be a hassle. Dh likes to have exact change at drive-thrus & he is constantly spending my quarters. I'm always on him about it. This week he was with me and no quarter. He's the one that had to go in & trade the dimes & nickel to get the quarter. I think he may have got the point. :lmao: But if it weren't for him, it wouldn't be a bother as I would always have a stinkin' quarter in my vehicle.

My savings from coupons & stockpiling & Aldi's & the rewards from my Disney card paid for our Disney trip this year too. And the stimulus check sure didn't hurt! :thumbsup2

I might go in one day to check it out. It's across the street from Starbucks so I'm there almost every day. I forgot to add the new starbucks gold card I go too, it was $25 but you save 10%, I think. I've already paid for the card in savings! Need to add that into my Disney fund too.

:rotfl2: I like the sound of that.

Realistically, it will be a good 20+ years before we can actually move down there (DH's job is not at all portable) but for various reasons I had to take this exam within the next couple of years. Psychologically it just makes me feel better knowing I have options and I don't have to be shovelling indefinitely.
