Both DH and I have registered for the 1/2 next year. We're bringing DD who will be 2 then..can't leave her at home...so what are we going to do with her during the race? It starts at 5:50 am (YIKES), and I'm thinking we'll be back to the hotel by 10:30. Has anyone ever used Disney's babysitting services? I just don't know if I even feel comfortable leaving her with a stranger...any ideas???

I have never used their service, but remember reading somewhere that it was a good service.
Hope you can get it figured.

We have always had a family member at WDW with us, or left DS at home for the past 6 years.
We have considered using Kids Nite Out / Fairy Godmother and probably will have to go that route next January.

We used Kid's Nite Out during our family vacation back in September for DD3 and we were pleased with the service. Our little one said she had a lot of fun with her babysitter.

Is there a family member you can talk into joining your family on the trip to watch her?
My husband and I ran the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon together last August and we brought our two kids with us(they were 5 and 1 at the time). So, we brought my mother in law on the trip with us. She watched the kids in our hotel room while we did the race. To thank her for doing that, we paid for all her meals, park tickets, etc.

I'm with Casey. Could you bring someone along to watch the little one?
I'm trying to talk my wife into doing her first half next year and if I do we will be asking my parents to go with us. We won't have to pay for anything though as they always want to go with us! :thumbsup2
I believe I read they will come to your room that early although it may not be the Disney service and they charge a couple dollars more an hour. I remember seeing a long list somewhere of all the different services at Disneyworld. Hopefully someone will see this and point you in that direction.

Here's another thought...
I'm doing my absolute best to get there (DH is registered for the Goofy, I'll do the Half) we have a DD 12 who will probably come with us - so maybe there is a WISH member who can babysit... as time draws nearer we'll know more - dd has taken babysitting classes thru the Red Cross... and she'd be a lot more reasonable than a FairGodmother service at 3 am!
we did the '08 marathon and met up with WISH'ers, but we left DD at home, she says she wants to come in '10!! (along with our other son, and his bride!)

Yes, they will! I looked into this 4 years ago for my first marathon. But beware, it comes with a hefty price tag. Their per hour rate is steep AND they charge you either "overtime" or a flat fee for coming in that early.

I don't know if this is an option for you, but could you leave the baby home with a sitter? DH & I ran the marathon this year and we left our kids home with my parents. If that won't work for you, do you have a sitter/friend/relative you could you could bring with you to WDW?

Call Disney.
Several years ago, we had a in-room babysitter when our first princess was only 4. The lady was certified through Kindercare. I forget what the rate was, but it was reasonable.
Anyways, she came to OKW for about 4 hours while my wife and I went out and enjoyed ourselves at Pleasure Island & Downtown Disney at night.
I don't know if they'll have sitting services at such an early hour in the morning during marathon weekend.
