Engagement Photos! (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=33985768#post33985768)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello! I’m sure most of you have seen me lurking around for the last little while! And I’m so excited to finally start my PJ!!!

I’m Victoria (Torsie to everyone who knows me) 23 from London, England.
Jack is also 23 and he grew up in Buckinghamshire. :)

This is a photo of us on our engagement trip:

http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2110/219/66/821450083/n821450083_5548477_8667.jpg

We met at University in Wales and were friends from our second day - we lived in the same Dormitory.

Jack followed me around for our whole first year, telling me he loved me and asking me to go out with him. I was mean and said ‘no’ as I was adamant I didn’t want a boyfriend during my first year as I wanted to enjoy some fun and freedom. But we hung out a lot and spent a lot of evenings watching movies together. (Only know does Jack tell me he orchestrated all of this to try and get alone time with me!)

During the summer between the first and second year, I was in Chicago and Wisconsin with my parents and really surprised myself thinking about Jack a lot.
More than my other friends!

When I got back to Uni after the summer, I was really glad to see jack and we spent most of our time with each other. By the second month of term we were officially boyfriend and girlfriend. :)

When we left University we both moved back with our parents, and were a few hours apart from each other. But my Dad bought us mobile phones with unlimited free calls to each other, and we took it in turns each weekend to visit one another.

Last November - After a year and a half of long distance - Jack finally came and moved in with my parents and I as we had moved to a much bigger house. And within a few weeks he came to work for my Dad’s company (where I also work).

The Ring

This is my ring:

http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/790/myring1wv0.jpg

As a lot of you know I found it just before Christmas and couldn’t think of anything else!! I just love it and can’t believe I’m lucky to have something so beautiful! It’s the type of ring I’ve always dreamed of!!

The Proposal

Here is a link to my proposal day on my recent trip to Disneyland Paris.

The Wedding

Obviously my plans may change - as I’m hoping for a spring 2011 wedding, but here are my early ideas!

I want a wishes wedding, with Ceremony at the Pavilion, Reception in the Whitehall Room and then a Wishes Desert party at Sago Cay Pointe.

We will be having music from the movie Enchanted - as we both love it!! So that will be our theme.

For my colour scheme, I think I’ll be having green and then pink floral.

These two colours on this invite are perfect for what I'm imagining....

http://lilduckduck.com/Catalog/avactis-images/pink-green-six-photo-wedding_0.jpg

That's it for now....but I should be updating pretty regularly. princess:

It was wonderful thanks - very cold! The waterfalls and lakes and rivers were frozen!

But didn't rain hardly at all, and we walked on to any ride we wanted the whole trip! Which was great except for Tower of Terror as it meant I didn't have an excuse not to ride!!

Was the best trip ever though - I cried the whole way back down Main Street when it was leaving time! :'(

I started thinking about our wedding in September 2007, so about 25 months before the wedding although we only got officially engaged in July 2008 and thats when I started my PJ.

25 months isnt that long!! oursr is like 22 or something i think?

If you plan now, save up now, then you will have the perfect wedding!! Its easier for us to plan now, because of living in the UK, its harder because of the exchange rate and the price can get a bit scary when the pound drops against the dollar!! (like at the moment!!!)

But we are planning now, and trying to get a rough idea of how much the wedding will cost and we are expecting the worst from the pound against the dollar with saving up- plus that way, most of our family will be able to save up and come out there with us and we can have our dream wedding!!

25 months isnt long at all!!

torsie24
01-26-2009, 05:59 AM
Our thoughts exactly!

Were going to do our save the dates pretty soon! :)

Then it'll be really exciting!

malibustacey
01-26-2009, 06:08 AM
yeah we are too, just a little something to send out to our family to say 'this is when our wedding is going to be, we want to give you time so you can try to come' or something like that.

We'll probably send out something small on a piece of paper, but i found a website called vista print and they do like, 50 fridge magnets for a fiver i think, and i said to Wayne, that could be a cool idea to send out for invites?

Well, either way, we are sending out some soon too. Just because we are scared too many people will let us down if we send out invites later, and say we didnt give them enough time to save up - (i know Disney do send out save the dates but its too late for us a year in advance for our guests). We will say on our cards that 'formal inviations are to follow' - i.e the Disney ones.

I like your idea for your invites, well the inspiration ..!!

torsie24
01-26-2009, 06:09 AM
Yeah - we are doing magnets! :)

I want to put them in a little luggage tag with a note card too. And then green and pink ribbon tiead on them :)

orangetiggs
01-26-2009, 06:14 AM
we did magnets as well, we even had people pull out 3 months beofre our wedding and they had booked and paid forthe holiday!

Its a nightmare trying to plan for everyone and then they pull out.

We I mean I started planning as soon as we got engaged so 2 years before our wedding and I called disney at around 20 months out but they told me to call back at 18 months. I didnt find this website till about 4 months into our engagement and This was a godsend

So do you get them from Vista print and are they only around fiver?

I was thinking of adding a piece of paper to so they can send it back to us .. and i was thinking of it saying (i saw on someones PJ!) ..

'yes we can come'

'sorry, we are too scared of mice!'

that made us laugh.. so i think we want to add that in somewhere, and im guessing adding it to a piece of paper so they can send back? But then, would i have to provide envelopes?

So, Saturday my Mum and I went to our local bridal store which specialises in Alfred Angelo.

His dresses have been my favourite for a few years! I just love the idea of having some colour on my dress. I only had time to try one dress on, so it was this one I tried. (This is also the colour I would go for - glass green)

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/AAdress1.jpg

I did have a look at the others and these are my other favourites. Need to try them on still! Ive changed them to glass green where I can.

#2 - this is my favourite as i like that the back just has the strips. only the front picture is in glass green.

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/AAdres2f.jpg
http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/AAdress2.jpg

#3 - I love the back of this, and also that its shorter so wont be as heavy. But I'm not 100% about the colour across the bottom.

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/AAdress3.jpg
http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/AAdress3b.jpg

#4 - I looooove the bow on this one!! Very princessy!!

Yaaaaay! I found your PJ! :cheer2:

I can't believe you're having the music from Enchanted as your theme! So Close by Jon McLaughlin will be our first dance - I love love love that song!

You should move up your wedding to, say 12 August 2010 and we should share everything :rotfl:

Oh, and I was wondering which Uni in Wales did you go to?

Hee, we're having So Close too! :) We decided it the first time we saw Enchanted long before we were engaged, lol!

What? But that's my wedding!?! Lol, what's the bet that we'll be fighting over a date?

I'm hoping for all of the above, too, I'm sort of thinking I'd like early March though, in hopes of being there before spring break...

I'm jumping on board now, and can't wait to see how everything unfolds.

I love those dresses too, I've seen them before, but not with the lovely green colour, how nice is that?

Ok, I think that's all I have to say so far... :wave2:

I have made a spring break calendar of various schools across the US, so my plan is to definitely avoid those! :)

Hopefully there will be plenty of dates for the both of us! xxxxxxx

when i went last feb- the first week was so quiet in Disney- we got on everything without waiting, it was so great!

the second week was mental- it was springbreak or some kind of holiday - and it was so packed!! we hardly got on anything! so def try and avoid the holidays out there!

im pretty sure it was some kind of spring break- because some hotels on idrive had bill boards welcoming High schools to their hotel for the break. There was lots of cheerleaders in Universal too.. like a competition was going on.

Also, one of the days was the ESPN Weekend in DHS... it was rammed!! so so packed that we left.. it was impossible to get on any rides.. and it was even difficult to walk without bumping into everyone! hehe!! try and avoid that week / weekend near the end of Feb!

Hi guys,

sorry for the long break in updates. I've been away from the DIS for a few days, had to have emergency surgery and it got very emotional. :(

I tried to keep my mind occupied by talking about the wedding but a few people started asking stuff like "But there will be an at home reception, wont there?" and making any excuse as to why they can't travel that far, literally every reason I said tha would make it easier for them, they had an extra 2 that meant they couldn't.

On top of my stress and worry it really made me miserable. I spent loads of the week crying, and looking up weddings for just the two of us, far away where we didn't have to worry about anyone else and their opinions.

Since the surgery got done on Thrsday though I'm feeling a bit more optimistic, and watched enchanted and listened to the wishes song a lot, and I do still love the Disney idea - why can't people be happpy for me?

What I am considering doing though is scaling it down, maybe to an escape, but I'll see.

I told my parents how I don;t want the WDW wedding when I was in a rage on wednesday and they both said I'd change my mind back again! Lol.

It just seems some people, no matter what the situation is, have to make it all about them. :(

Hi, I am so sorry but at the end of the day just do whatever you and Jack want to do :) . Were going to have a party in the U.K but I want to keep it informal and fun - if we were getting married in the summer I would love to have a casual BBQ for our friends and family.

Henrys brother's girlfriend hates disney and pulls a face everytime its mentioned, and Henrys uncle is refusing to come (but his wife and daughter are) for the same reason - but its their loss at the end of the day ::yes::

if people have been and really dislike the place then fine

It's your one and only wedding day- Don't let what anyone else says put you off! Think of all the things I've told you about my wedding that my Mum and Robert's Mum hate- We both said the other night that it doesn't matter what other people think as it's the one day of your life where things are just about you and the man you love.... People have this set idea of what a wedding should be like and what will happen.... Personally, I'm willing to go totally the other way and do everything opposite just to prove to people that it isn't about whats 'right' and 'traditional'....!!! It's about love and a big celebration of that love.... If they can't see that, then its tough!!!! ::yes::

i know what you mean, lots of people that havent been to disney before thought it was a joke when we told them - but when they realise its an elegant and expensive affair, then they are quick to change their minds. I dont think my dad and step mum are happy about going, as they said they didnt want to go until my little sister was old enough, like 14 or so, so i think they aint to pleased about having to spend money going now.. but who gives a damn? all i care about it me and wayne being there- any one else is a bonus- i have lots of family that are excited about going, so i aint worried about those stupid few that try to ruin it by saying horrible things. more fool them.

dont worry about those people- they can think / do and say what they want- it wont change your mind- you have both chosen to get married there so why change it to make someone else happy? sorry i sound like i am angry- i am angry- not at you - but i know what it feels like and i get angry when people try to interfear when they dont like the bride or grooms decision when its their day- and no one elses, and especially when they think that getting married in Disney is a joke! heh.

Torsie,

Have just read yout JP and looked at those beautiful dresses... You're going to look lovely:love:

So sorry you had to go through a difficult time, operation and then the rest... People are never happy regardless of what you do for them. In the end of the day, you can't please everyone and you shouldn't. It's your wedding, it happens once in a lifetime and it's yours and Jack's day.

Just do what you want to do, pick the place, food, outfits etc and forget about the rest.

All the best princess:

All drama has been put aside and my parents had Jack and I over at the weekend for a big planning meeting. And we have decided a date (presuming I can get it!) of 1st March 2011!

They think the plans all look great and are happy to spend up to $20k, so after that Jack and I will be paing for extras. (I'm hoping we can fit it mostly into my parents budget though!)

Also I booked my planning trip for September today too!

Super excited!! I can;t believe I'm actually going to WDW!!!

I wonder what my 7 year old self would have said if someone told her the next time she'd be in WDW would be when she was planning her dream wedding!?!?!

Hi guys,

sorry for the long break in updates.

Family and friends stink you nkow. We had the same issue but it causd us to cancel our wftw. Now we will be doing a VR either next year or the year after.

Alot of people Ive realized were stuck in their traditional wedding and I am starting to think they just didnt want me to do it because THEY couldnt. This is why, vin and I will be doing a vr for who we choose to be invited... although i wish we would have been strong enough to do it in wdw originally :(

Eeeeee! Spent the day in London, mainly on oxford street today, where I tried this dress on first:

http://www.monsoon.co.uk/content/ebiz/monsoon/invt/45021741/45021741_m1.jpg

Which was nice, and pretty but not really a wedding dress in my opinion, I think it was the lack of poofiness.

Then we headed a long to 3 or 4 of the department stores on Oxford St where I tried on 4 more:

This was my favourite, but it still isnt the 'one'.

http://debenhams.scene7.com/is/image/Debenhams/20071221_033010611085?resMode=sharp&op_usm=1.1,0.5,0,0&rgn=0,0,900,900&scl=2.34375&id=0Lhkm0DzZMFzw0tvUOn7vw

This my mum just loved and had tears in her eyes, but I think I wasn't so keen as it doesnt touch the floor:

http://debenhams.scene7.com/is/image/Debenhams/20071221_033010611185?resMode=sharp&op_usm=1.1,0.5,0,0&rgn=0,0,2000,2000&scl=5.208333333333333&id=3bmjWk_LfNBf1aGEtT4NId

I also tried on this one and another i cant find a picture of, but neither looked great:

http://debenhams.scene7.com/is/image/Debenhams/20071221_033010410285?resMode=sharp&op_usm=1.1,0.5,0,0&rgn=0,0,2000,2000&scl=5.208333333333333&id=3JSlQuvs5dIjh0RqQ-ueEF

After all of this it was getting late, so we headed back, but my mum loves the big BHS on Oxford Street, so we popped in and she convinced me to go look at the bridal in there.

Now, I'm not a fan of BHS (it's always seemed a bit fuddy duddy to me) but I was in a wedding dress mood so said OK.

I am sooooo glad I did as one of their dresses took my breath away!! It's huge and puffy and princessy with a huge bow. All the things I thought I'd find tacky and off putting. But it was jsut sooo lovely.

They didn't have time for me to try it on, but I am going to make an appointment!

http://www.condenast.co.uk/ImageLib/215x233/a_c/ArtofEleganceBHS_b.jpg

That's the only photo I have at the minute - which does it no justice, but I looooooooooooove it!!!

Turns out the designer is the same one who made princess Diana's wedding dress - BHS is seeming less fuddy duddy by the second!! It really is a princess dress!!!! princess: :bride: princess:

So I can add some dress photos from yesterday and also some photos of my wedding scrapbook I bought at DLRP and started scrapping today.

Here is me in the dress Mum loved, but I really want a floor length one! It did make me addicted to puffy layery dresses though:

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/debdress1.jpg

This is me in the kind of dress style I always imagined I'd have (until I saw the puffy one I love yesterday that is!)

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/debdress2.jpg

And then here is my Photo Album I bought in DLRP that I am going to use as my engagement/planning/wedding scrapbook.

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/scrap1.jpg

It actually has little shiny white embossed hearts on, but the photo isn't good enough to show them.

I'm going to put a photo of us from our trip on the first page.

Then on the second I've put a postcard of our hotel, and also the little envelope we got a check in with lots of park info and stuff in, that I want in there but dont want taking up important page space!

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/scrap2.jpg

Then on the third page I've stuck a map which can fold out, one of our tickets and also one of our room keys.

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/scrap3.jpg

I'm not very craft so am not going to try and embellish it any as it would make a big mess, but I think it'll be fun to have in the future. :bride:

When I looked at last years dresses online they only seem to stock them at about 5 BHS stores (and online of course) I am sure 3 of them were Oxford St, Sheffield Meadowhall, and Manchester - I cant remember where the others were?!

Oh and if you bought one online and wanted to take it back you had to take it back to one of those 5?!

Right, I have finally got my guest list sorted I think.

Brides Guests

Mum and Dad
Rose and Phil (like a 2nd mum and Dad to me)
Katie and Hayley (above's daughters and 2 definite bridesmaids)
Alison (my best friend from school and hopefully a BM) and her BF
Emma and Jenny (2 other firends from school) and their BFs
Aunts and uncles (x4)
Cousins (x3)
Mum & Dads best friends

So that's 25 for my half.

Grooms guests
Mum and her BF
Dad and a +1
Sister and fiance
Sister and husband and 2 kids
Aunt and 2 cousins
Ross (his best man) and his GF
2 of jacks other friends and GFs

So 19 guests for Jacks half.

Joint friends from Uni
Jessie (my best friend from University, I lvoe her and want her as a BM but see below for problem :( )
Another 9 friends from Uni.

So all in all thats 54 people, 31 invitations to send - I've ordered 40 so I've got spares.

Also, I ordered 50 magnets today as they were on special so I got 50 for £5!

Here they are:

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/magnet.jpg

Now for the drama.

I have always wanted 4 Bridesmaids, as there are 4 people that I really love who mean a lot to me and I want to be a part of my day.

My mum's always listened to that but not taken it seriously, it seems, until now.

On the weekend she jsut started saying (like I'd never mentiond the whole 4 idea) how I'm hvaing 2 bridesmaids.

I said 'no, 4' and she got really stressy saying 4 was silly, and too many and that 2 is plenty and dad will get mad with 4 that I'm going over the top and I need to calm down with all the plans.

But what do I do about my 2 friends who I want to be bridesmaids for me? I really don't think my mum is going to budge, and if my dad gets onside there's no way, but I don't want to deeply upset people that I love, I really feel like I can't win!

Also my mum thinks hainvg one school friend as BM is asking for trouble from the others, and the same for only having one university friend. Although I think she may just be saying this to convince me have 2.

Urgh! I wish tehre was an answer!!! I literally cannot win at all in this! It's either upset my family or my friends, great!

Well, this may or may not help win your Mum over. My wedding has 50 Guests, and Robert and me are having three people each in our parties. He's got his Best Man and Two Ushers, and I've got my Maid of Honour and Two Bridesmaids, and we don't think it will be too many at all. I personally don't think four would be a silly amount at all. Have you explained how much it means to you to have these four people? I'm only having five friends at the wedding (Plus their Guests) and three of them are my Bridesmaids.... It's all about who you want with you in your party on the day- They're going to be your support network.

I have a friend who is getting married in June and she has seven bridesmaids and her Fiance has 8 Best Men... It's just different things for different people, depending on what they want... :goodvibes

Hope you get it all sorted....

:( Is your dad paying for the wedding? If he is, maybe you could offer to pay for the Bridesmaids dresses and their flowers for the 2 extra that you want?

It's up to you who you want up there with you after all - 4 isn't silly at all. 2 of my friends who are definitely coming are going to be bridesmaids, if my other 2 best friends come, then I'm definitely going to have them too! I want them up there with me! And my wedding isn't going to have as many people as yours!!

Hello Torsie

I really think that 4 would be fine as well its who has meant alot to you in the time you have been together and I think you should do what you want thats how I feel I dont ever want to regret any thing of our wedding as I am only planning on doind this once I know your dad is paying and if it does become a real option that you can only have two could you ask the other two to be witness' i know they arent essential in a Florida wedding but optional butit could still make them feel involved in your special day

Oooh love both sweets idea - we didnt go with the disney idea either as I thought it would scare people off (half of my guests have never been to disney before!)

I dont think you being OTT about bridesmaids at all - its not like your saying 10!! I am having 1 who was my housemate at uni and is the person I can 100% trust most in the world with everything, weve been there for each other through all the dramas and she is really excited to be my bridesmaid :) , also it helps that all my family love her too - she is like my adopted sister!

I agree with Chilly - offer to pay for the dresses and flowers yourself - you dont have to spend a lot anyway, and then everyone will be happy :) .

Save the dates decided!!

I shall be making my own save the date favours, as it's going to save me about £30!

I have purchased this chocolate lollipop mould:

And these sprinkles!!!!!

http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/2/5/3/1/5/0/webimg/232023514_tp.jpg

Then I'll put them in a cello bag and tie pink and green ribbon round the stick. :)

If it looks like I have loads of sprinkles I may make jack sit and pick out only the pink and green ones - but we'll have to see! :)

No. I went into BHS in Croydon today, and i filled out the ordering in form and everything and guess what? I can't even try them on in there!!

I'm going to have to go back up to Oxford Circus. Ggggrr.

It was SO busy up there last weekend, it just makes it such a hassle!

torsie24

35 lollies down, 21 to go!!

Apart from a disaster on the first batch where we put mickey heads into the mould before pouring the chocolate (as I read to do online) - the chocolate completely absorbed the mickeys, so we had to put more mickeys on top, this is to be counted as the test batch!

It's going well other than that! I'm feeling a bit sick from the chocolate fumes and occasional finger licking. Looking very good for something my unartistic self has made though!!

torsie24
02-28-2009, 12:40 PM
It took me 4 and a half hours, but my lollies are all made!!

Here is a small photo guide of how we did it.

First we took out all the blue and yellow mickey sprinkles and also the green and pink ones that had lost ears etc.

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/lolly4.jpg

Then we melted some chocolate (this photo is really just for the porn factor!)

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/lolly3.jpg

Then I poured chocolate into the mould and put in the sticks and placed mickeys on them. After ten minutes in the freezer they popped right out of the mould and looked like this:

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/lolly2.jpg

Then I bagged them all and put them in a tin awaiting the arrival of my ribbon to tie them off. :)

http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/pp74/Torsie24/lolly1.jpg

I wish I'd used more sprinkles on the first few batches, as I had loads left but was worried they'd run out! Never mind.

More for jack and I!! :)

Jack and I spent some of today bagging and tying up the lollies. Here is the final result:

I also printed off my address labels and lables with our address on for the back of the envelopes and have packed up all the ones I can. :) Still waiting on jack getting me some addresses for his friends.....ggrr.

Also, as the lollies are Dark chocolate we don;t think Jack's nephews (18 months and 3yo) will like them, so I'm going to make little labels for chocolate bars today and then stick them onto Milkybars or something cimilar tomorrow!

I'll show you how I get on. :)

So far all of my friends sound really keen and are up for coming!

But then Jack talked to his mum. She says its too much money for her, and his sister and his aunt.

I am SO angry right now!!! Too much money?!?! We aren't asking them for a penny! She spent THOUSANDS on his sisters wedding adn cant spend £500 to see her son get married? How can you not afford something two years in advance?!?!

Jack says he isn't bothered, as he only wants people who want to be there, to come. But I'll be sad for him if his family doesn't come.

Hello Hun,

I wrote to you on Dis DLRP as well but thought you are more likely to see it here.

MIL's I think there will always be some one that wont be happy about it, I know you will feel bad but If Jack is happy isnt that all that matters Dave's mum wont be attending our wedding, Dave was the same as Jack and said he wants people who want to be there for you both.

We were so worried Daves dad wouldnt be able to come we offered to pay he said no and would be there no matter what we were really surprised, Im sure she will come round,

Yay to every one else though babe it will get better, I got upset because a few members of my family made the excuse they couldnt afford it but thats why we gave 2 and 1/2 years notice as we want them to be there me and Dave would get married next year it just every one else we are waiting for.

really dont worry about others, its your day and thats all that counts.

We had people who had booked pull out of coming within about 6 months of our wedding and we were also worried that DH parents wouldnt come as his sister was due to give birth 3 days after our wedding.

DH sister and her husband didnt come because of this so he was very upset with the situation.

We went from having 30 guests booked and coming at our planning session to only having 18 including us at the wedding.

I would not have changed it apart from having his sister there as he missed her but we had a church blessing and reception back here where everyone could see pics and us in our wedding attire and it was like a second wedding so that could be an option so all those that cant attend florida still feel like they saw you get married.

Also stvs now do a live feed which I wish they had of done for our wedding so all the people back home can watch you live get married

About your FMIL, I would just give them time, they may change their mind by then... and if not, your DF is fine with them not being there it sounds like. I bet a lot will change by your wedding date... And hey your less then 2 years to go now:woohoo: !

Right, I know I am going to try on the Elizabeth Emanuel dress I love in 2 days time. But in case that isnt the one, I also am about to make an appointment with the closest dept. store to me who are about to open a bridal dept. that will stock Maggie Sottero and Sottero & Midgley gowns.

I have been doing a bit of research on their sites and think I may have found 'the one', I know its only a photo, but I just love everything about it!

I like all of them! But 2, 4 & 5 are my favs.

I'm sure you future MIL will change her mind, not many parents are prepared to miss a childs wedding.

i love maggie sottero (so tear o) is how I pronouce it. My dress was by her and it travelled very well with no need of extra steaming once at disney

I love the 1st and 3rd one

Thanks everyone! I've shown them to my mum, and also found some other styles I love too on the Sottero & Midgely site, she loves them all and is very excited for the Maggie Dress Day!

Just need to find a day we are both free! Then it'll be Maggie time!! :cheer2:

Dress piccies of my other favourites to follow ASAP.

Oh I am sorry - but trying lots on is fun! Have you got any photos? Did you like the style?

I didnt like the bhs dresses that I saw (and they were nowhere near as nice as the one you liked), I thought the material was pretty cheap - not as nice as the dresses they sell in Monsoon.

I do have photos! Waiting for the Mac to become free and Jack to be busy so I can bluetooth them over to the computer and make them a bit smaller to put them on here!

URGH, jack's on the phone to his mum and he's gone really mumbly talking about how everyone except their moaning selves have said 'yes' to the wedding.

Just looks a funny dress I think...:( Maybe if I was a lot thinner it would look better but I'm not a fan. Although the back looks prettier than the front.

One of the main reasons I want to get super fit before my wedding is so the heat doesn't get to me too much! I'm assuming WP and WR will be air conditioned though....

I know...... It's a very wierd design, I don't know who thought putting a puff that starts over your waist would be a good idea? Making teh smallest part of a womans body the biggest really isn;t going to sell too many dresses!

I sure hope its just that dress that does it, and I'm not mis-shapen!

I tried on loads of dresses that made my hips look massive, I've gone for a drop waist in the end, much more slimming.

Jack and I were out shopping today and we met my mum for a cup of tea in town at lunchtime.

The bridal store was jsut across the street, so while Jack went to look in Blockbusters (he loves it in there for some reason and spends ages!) Mum and I went into the Bridal Store.

Although completely not planning on it we saw a dress that was very pretty so tried it on.

Here are two pictures I've found of it:

So I called my local Maggie stockists...

The lady on the phone was soooo nice! I really have a good feeling about the shop!!!

I told her that it's a destination weding, and she suggested two maggie dresses that she said are very popular as they travel really well and are cool in hot weather.

This is the first:

Even though it's not got the puffy skirt, it's still really princessy! All the pretty crystals...! Think of the ball scene in Enchanted- Giselle was the most beautiful lady there and she didn't wear a puffy skirt to that! ;) I think you'd look super princessy in it anyway though.... It looks like it would flow so beautifully down the aisle!

So, we had our meeting with Jack's family on Saturday.

Went really well! His Mum and her bf and one of his sisters and her husband are definitely coming! And they are super excited too!!

His other sister and her husband and 2 kids probably wont (not surpirising really) and we are unsure if his dad will (he has bad epilepsy and it worsens when he travels) but he may well come.

Also, I jsut ordered Jack's engagment ring. :teeth:

I don't know whether to just give it to him or if I should present it to him romantically...

But once I had mine he kept saying that he didn't feel properly engaged without a ring. Lol.

Chilly
03-23-2009, 09:26 AM
Thats good news on his Mum and the ring, I think you should plan something, it doesn't have to be expensive, perhaps just a walk in the park.
