My camera DIED. Photo repair will be $100, no sense in that!
Budget - around $300
Familiar with Kodak, but can branch out.
Need something with good action shots, or a way to slow down 2 boys;)
I would like something with image stabilizing, I get shaky.
I know this is a big request for you experts to narrow down for me. But I want to start researching before I get to the stores so I know what I definitely want and DONT want.
I don't know megapixels and such, so I guess I need advice on that, too.
If there is a website I should check out, just let me know.
I appreciate your help!:flower3:

I can't help out much. I shoot mainly with a DSLR (Canon 40D) and I'm not happy with the compact I currently have, so can't recommend it. But here is a website I would start with. They reviewed 4 groups of cameras before the holidays. This link is for the review of premium compact cameras, range $300+. But if you click on the Reviews/Previews link on the top left you can get to the other groups as well.

I would look at Canon's line of IS compacts...

Maybe a Canon A1000 IS...if you are looking for Ponit ans Shoot.

I really liked all the cameras I have had in the Powershot line from Canon...

If You could stretch the budget a little...$329 + tax...Amazon has the Canon SX10IS...if you were looking for a Bridge Camera...I would love it but i have the S5 IS that I still use for small outing.

Check out the reviews.

Just read the page Michele put in her post...

I agree on the statement "Highly Recommended: Canon SD880 IS (Ixus 870 IS)"

This is the point and shoot my DH wants so it looks like it's what we will go with.
