Spotlight please.....open the curtain.....let's start this show, I mean trip report!
Hey Guys and Gals...I am Jeff from the beautiful city of Asheville, NC. I am so happy to be sharing my 1st ever trip report with you all! I hope I don't bore anyone, if I do, sorry. I will try to keep this entertaining and exciting. So, let's get started....shall we?
Ok..the cast...
Me, Jeff. I just turned 37. I work in the hospitality field and been doing it for about 10 years now. Asheville is known for its hospitality and being a very open minded city which brought me here. When I moved here, I met the most wonderful, fun loving, man of my dreams.....
And his name is Jon, 39. He was born and raised in Asheville, so he's my mountain man. I love him. If it wasn't for him, I would not be here right now giving you all this trip report. Jon has been a hair stylist, artist of hair design...whatever you want to call it, for about 20 years. He would kill me right now if I called him as a "beautician." He hates being called that....anyway....he is great at what he does and works very hard. So this Disney Vacation was just what he and I both needed.....
Here is our pic from our honeymoon back in March....I will let you guess who is who...:rolleyes2
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_0834.jpg
We have been together for about 4 years and we tied the knot in March 2008....this WDW trip was like a 2nd honeymoon, within a year!
Why Disney? Good question....it just happend. We were scheduled to go to Vegas, but I asked Jon one day...out of the blue...."Let's go to Disney!" Before I knew it, I was googling everything to find out more about WDW. I found this board and became hooked.
I bought every book published that was about planning WDW trips and they were helpful, but not as helpful as this board. You guys had so much to share, esp. Evilqueen! So I dedicate this trip report to him...;) Also, Jon has many clients that are Disney freaks and they had a lot tips too....Jon would come home from a hard's day work and say something to me that a client suggested as I was at the laptop deciding where to make ADRs......so I had plenty of resources!
Okay...so here we go with Day 1....
We drove from Asheville. The total trip for us was 610 miles. Not bad. I could have done it all in a day, but we made an overnight spot in Kingsland, GA. We did arrive Sunday afternoon at around 1pm. It was so nice to see to gates to the most happiest place on earth.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1433.jpg
We had made it! After driving that awlful construction in Jacksonville, it was good to see this!
We followed the signs to our resort which was SSR. What a huge place! A very nice place and it's not as heavily themed as most of the resorts, but we both were pleased. Check In was very fast, freindly and smooth. Myra had the pleasure of showing us 1st timers what we needed to know. Very nice gal! She gave us our keys, gave us our DDP info, and maps. We were ready to go see our home for the next 7 days. She gave us our studio room at the Carousel, and it was a good location, right near the bus stop! Here are some pics of the building...

Thank God for the elevators, we were on the 4th floor. We had so much baggage. Overall, the room and location were great! We were hardly in the room. The room had all the things we needed and thank goodness for the coffee maker, Jon is a coffee addict and can't operate without a dark brew with 2 splenda packets and creamer.
After unloading our barge and lots of unpacking......we decided to head over to the MK....which will be coming up next so stay tuned!!!:hyper:

Well...my partner said..."Why do you wanna take pics of food?" And I said that wanna share with my DIS freinds.....so, for his sake, I didn't take as many...I have a few though...he has no idea what we do here on DIS...
I have so many pics...I am sorting them now. We will return home tomorrow, we are at Disney's HHI resort now, and I love this place....great place to "chill" after a week at the world...I hope I can get everything done soon.

Hey...I'm back. This whole posting pic thing is crazy. I hope everything is posting okay and everyone is enjoyin it....I guess I am a true dis-freak now! Its all good!:cool1:
We took the bus to the MK. Like I said before, we were near the bus stop and I believe this stop was the 2nd on the SSR route. The drivers were so very nice and freindly. It was great meeting with other guests from all over. This is when Jon got bittin' by the pin trading bug. Back during the planning stages, friends and co-workers briefed and warned me on the Wonderful World of Disney Pin Trading.::yes:: I read about it and was curious.:scratchin Before I knew it, I was on ebay bidding on pin lots. :rotfl: Crazy! Crazy Crazy! So, glad that we did not fly, the air lines would not let that much metal on their plane!:scared1:
The bus trip was not bad at all, just a quick 20 min trip. It was nice seeing the top of the castle. We jumped off the bus and followed the flocks of people to the search tables. After being stripped of our machine guns and lead pipes, we got our first finger scans and we were in the MK! Here's the grand 1st pic!
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1436.jpg
It was breathing taking and it excited both of us....something that we have seen on TV for a long time was there in person! It was an amazing moment and it seemed to be a romantic moment :love2: Yeah, it was a busy January Day, but it was not that bad.
Here are some more pics of that 1st day....
Me taking it all in and wondering where to go 1st....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1438.jpg
Zooming in to the top....(I'm not trying to be a pro, just a cool shot for me)
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1453.jpg
After the 1st castle visit, we jumped to Torrowland and hopped in line for Space Mountain. The fast passes had ran out, but that was okay, we had extra magic hours so it was no big deal to wait in the 40 min stand by line. After all, everybody and their momma had ridden Space Mountain and it was our turn. We ended waiting the 40 minutes like the post said and hopped on the train. It was cool, it was def a classic and I am sure there are big plans for the future! I rode in the front car and Jon was right behind me grinning like kid again. :hyper:
We did a few other Torrowland things. I will not bore you all with it all.....I will sum it all up for you by saying its a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow...:flower3: and $100 purchase at the pin cart. :rolleyes2
After that, it was time for the 1st ever DDP swipe at Cosmic Rays. It was a zoo in there and it was around dusk. Why was it so crowded then? Everyone was rushing for Wishies.....Jon and I took our time, ordered our dinner and sat and ate. The food was good and it satisfied us, Jon had the BBQ and I had the turkey wrap. It was all good. Sorry, no pics of the whole meal, but I break down and took a pic of the rich chocolate cake!
[IMG]http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1549.jpg
Here is Jon and the Ear Crowning Ceremony. I dare not show mine....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1465.jpg
We watched Wishies and we have some pics! It was a great fireworks show and was neat seeing the castle change it's colors.....I have some pics to share but will share that on the next post. Jon was on the ball taking pics and I have no downloaded them all yet.....gotta love Sam's Club Photo!:thumbsup2
Day 2 tomorrow....nite nite!

I'm glad to hear that you liked the Carousel. I've heard so many people complain about it because it's "so far" from the main building (less than 400m according to satellite images), but, it's always looked good to me.

That's what I've always thought. We did request Springs when traveling with our 4 yr old niece and nephew who insist on walking for themselves. But, otherwise, we've left it up to chance figuring that every section has its charm.

Hey Everybody!
Thanks for the great comments! Jon hasn't read anything from this trip report, I told him he would have to wait till I was finished. ;)
Okay...here is the pic that I promised to post of Wishies from the night before!
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1575.jpg
Like I said before, We loved this! The fireworks were amazing....it put my hometown's 4th of July fireworks to shame! It was so cool and if y'all have never been, go, its a must! Loved it!
Okay...onto Day 2. This day was planned for DHS! The day began with breakfast at our resort at SSR. Folks, I am so sorry, but I did not take pics of our breakfast. Sorry!:sad2: Being from NC, I had to have my biscuit and gravy which was very good, nothing like my granny's, but really good! Jon had the western omelette. Jon said it was delicious! We paid OOP for this meal b/c it was so cheap. After a nice hearty breakfast, we jumped on the bus at the depot that was right behind the pool. We knew it was going to be a busy day....everyone was there waiting for the bus! The bus did get a little cramped. The traffic to DHS was crazy. Cars were lined up at the intersection over by the Hess Gas Station waiting to get into the DHS' parking lot. Keep in mind this was MLK so we knew it would be crazy. Here's a pic of our arrival to DHS...
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1467.jpg
This was the calm before the storm.....that place was jam packed by the afternoon! We did get to ride the Rockin Roller Coaster and HTT....we got fast passes for both and waited about 10 mins for each ride. I do recall both FP booths closing mid-afternoon for both rides. Here are some pics...
I wish we purchased the pic of us on this ride....it was so fun! Loved the theme of the Twilight Zone....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1685.jpg
This is me giving Jon the "look"..."Will you come on!!!!" Bless his heart, he was taking so many pics....trying to capture every moment!
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1681.jpg
We spent a lot of the afternoon in shops and spending snack credits. Jon was in full swing of his pin trading. While he was at the pin cart, I notice the American Idol attraction had a line. I thought it was not suppose to open til Feb. 14th, but the cast memeber said they were doing a "soft opening." The previews for American Idol looked awesome, so we can't wait to go back and give it try.
Oh, DHS was doing work to the hat. I hated they were b/c we couldn't get a good pic. I will share it anyway.
Looks like they were painting it.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1699.jpg
We had a ADR for Prime Time at 530pm. We were excited about our 1st table service and we were starving.....I had one of those Turkey Legs earlier in the afternoon and I could not finish it. It was too big and I felt like a caveman eating the darn thing. Jon did take a video of me eating the thing like wild animal from the jungle....but I do have a pic of Prime Time. Sorry, no food pics at this one.
Jon got applause from the staff for cleaning his plate. He also got scolded for playing with his Blackberry at the table. "Mom is going get you for that one!"
The meal was fabulous and very fulfilling! http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1503.jpg
Jon had the pot roast and I had the sirlion steak. Both were really good and tasty. We wanna do this again when we go back! Our waiter was Craig, he was great but was really tame and didn't really go all out to make a scene like they do here. The atmosphere reminded me of my great aunt's house....took us back in time. I loved the 50's TV shows that were playing! We got to see Leave it to Beaver clips, that Wally is a cutie.
Later that night, everyone and their cousins went to Fantasmic. We wanted to go, but we arrived a little late and the show already had started. After the seeing the huge pack stadium style venue, we left. It was not worth it being caught up in the crowd after the show. So instead, we jump on Toy Story Mania! 20 minute wait, no FP! I guess while everyone was at the Rolling Stones Final Concert...(aka Fantasmic), no one was in line for Toy Story Mania! Here are some pics that I took of the que line....LOVED IT!
The man that needs no intro....he was entertaining as we waited in line. Not sure how all the "magic" works on this one, but Mr. Potatoe Head wanted to talk to me. Kind of freaked me out, but he knew what color of shirt I was wearing and wanted to ask me some trivia questions. I had to brush him off and kept the line moving....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1513-1.jpg
Jon won with 60,000 points and 37% accuracy. I was like 10,000 points behind Jon, with 70% accuracy, whatever that is suppose to mean!
The night continued with one final ride on the Rockin Roller Coaster and another pin purchase. We were worn out and hoped back on the bus, gus....there was no line for our bus and we had a very quite ride back "home."
Stay tuned for Day 3.....a "dramatic" day for me.:crazy2:

Thanks! More will come, I promise....and my puppy is Miss Gabbie, she rules the roost. Jon has had her snice she was a baby, she was rescued...she's a lasa terrier mix. She is 15, but acts like she is 3! It was hard leaving her for a week. She also has a sister name Drucilla. I will try to find another pic to upload and post it for you soon.:)

Mornin' Y'all! Hope everyone is having a good Friday! Let's jump right in with day 3, shall we?
The morning begin with a very cold brisk walk to the main building at SSR for breakfast. The cold weather from Asheville had followed us down to Orlando....it was def a sweat shirt and jeans day. The sun was out, but it was so cold and I was cranky already b/c of this.....anyway, breakfast consisted of the same thing from yesterday and we paid OOP again. We boarded the bus for Epcot! I was excited to b/c everyone says that Epcot was fun and we were excited to see all the countries....
The bus ride was horrible....it was jam packed with folks. I was thinking that with the MLK holiday being over that most folks would have been heading for home. Wrong, they ALL decided to visit Epcot. I have never seen so many folks! Okay, Im not trying to sound like a sour puss, but the morning was just not going well. The weather, the crowded bus ride just really put me in cranky mood. There were large groups of scoccer teams from every nation visiting Epcot this day and they were all in Future World. It was around 11am and we headed for Soarin', the FP line return was already at 630p. The stand by line was already at 90 minutes. We had an ADR for Whispering Canyon that evening at 530p so FP for Soarin' was out of the question. So, we decided to get in the stand by line for Saorin'. Okay, I was really cranky at this point, I did not want to put up with a 90 minute line wait. We were both be trampled on by these large groups of folks with no manners... Jon was feeling my pain and keep suggesting to go visit another park since Epcot was packed. Here are some pics.....
Doesn't look crowded here, but as you went further the crowds got thicker...
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1519.jpg
Okay....the day started getting better. After waiting in the line with Walton's Family Reunion Group:rotfl: I think Tinker Bell came by and sprinkled some of her dust....A nice lady leaned over from the FP line and said, "I have 2 FP for Soarin' now if you want them!!!" pixiedust: I was like YES!!!!:hyper: Jon grabbed those passes and we hopped over the bars to the FP line, and we were on Soarin' in 10 mins!:cheer2:
We both very much enjoyed this attraction! Loved it!!! It was just amazing how everything worked on that ride! Loved it! Jon agreed!
We were so happy and the day was getting better!
Jon loved it....look at that childhood grin.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1522.jpg
After we got off the ride, the building that houses Soarin', Living Land, and the restuarant....it was just so crowded. Reminded me of Newark Airport during the holidays.....Jon said that he thought we needed to head out at that time and just do Epcot another day. His suggestion was a good one, so we decided to take a monorail ride. Where to go? We just decided to anywhere but Epcot.....so we went on an adventure on the monorail....
*PLEASE STAND CLEAR OF THE DOORS.....POR FAVOR*
The Monorail was neat....I have seen it on TV 1,000s of times. Hardly no one was riding it and we did get to ride in the front and the nice cast member operatoring the train was still in training. It was a nice experience. Jon got a coffee at the TTC and we decided to hopped on the resort monorail to go check out the GF Resort.
We took some pics when we got there. Lovely hotel....don't let the sunny weather fool ya. It was 55 degrees!
I love those hammocks....SSR needs to get some for their property....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1524.jpg
Loved the sandy beach they have there.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1526.jpg
It was nice visiting the GF, maybe one day we can try it out! Nice location too.
Okay, I will return later to finish Day 3.....I can tell the day did get whole lot better! Ta ta for now!

Okay....after visiting the GF and I kept repeating to Jon that we need to stay at GF next time (after we win the lottery) we got back on the monorail. We got on in the front car again and I took a video of the trip from GF to MK. We both decided to visit the MK again. And I am glad we did. It was not busy there at all! The day seemed like it was getting a whole lot better....after all, "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow..."
When entered in the MK and we were greeted by some friends.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1540.jpg
After a nice early afternoon stroll on the GF grounds and seeing Chip and Dale, my crankyness dissappeared....gotta love Chip and Dale and they were happy to see us....they are adorable!:)
We basically strolled around MK with no crowds in sight. We rode Space Mountain several times and TTA which was intresting....again, its going to be interesting to see what they do to Space Mountain during the rehab. I think it will be sad getting rid of the classic Space Mountain, but I sure Disney will do it well like everything else.
Here's some pics from that afternoon...
I was the map keeper. Jon has no sense of direction.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1546.jpg
The Haunted Mansion, which we rode 3 times straight, there is so much details that we missed so we kept riding it. Jon loved it and he is Jack Skellington freak...don't they do something special to HM during the holidays?
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1552.jpg
Okay! We had lunch at the Harbour House....fish and chicken! Used our CS credit for basically Long John Sliver's. It was okay. And for those of you that are addicited to Food Porn, I did break down and took a picture of Jon's Apple Crisp. It was okay. Tasted like McD's apple pie. Nothing to write home about.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1548.jpg
The late afternoon included some pin shopping and riding Thunder Mountain Railroad which was so fun! I get a chance to snap a pic of Jon at the garden area around the castle. I can just eat him up.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1557.jpg
We ened switching our ADR at the Whispering Canyon. We were enjoying MK so much that day we decided to have dinner at Liberty Tree Traven and relived Thanksgiving. It was good, not great, but good. Lots of comfort food that was welcomed on such a cold day at MK.
The night came to an end with another Wishes viewing. We bought some candy apples for the ride home. Here is another pic of Wishies for you guys...loved that show!
Not a very good pic, but I thought I would share it anyway.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1565.jpg
Again, we were the only ones on the bus home back to SSR from MK. Nice quiet ride back to our resort. We were both pooped out so we went to bed early.
Day 4- Animal Kingdom.....coming up next!

Well...moving right along to day number 4.....but before I start, I sit here with my laptop looking at all these pics, and recalling our WDW week makes me wanna go back so bad. I asked Jon as I was uploading pics when he thinks we will be returning and he said, "well, whenever you want to is fine with me!" So, we are already trying to decide on another date....:hyper: yay!!!! So, hopefully soon I will be doing a my 1st PTR.....hehehe!
Okay..onto day 4! And it was another cold one.....
We started off our day with yet another trip to our resort's CS spot for breakfast. So, you can guess what I had. And Jon had his same. We were wanting to try something new, but we wanted to wait for our ADR at Chef Mickey's and I will be talking about that later in Day 5. Anyway....we ate breakfest and boarded the bus at SSR's main hub behind the main pool area.
We sat down......."Welcome to Disney's Transportation system...we are on our way to Disney's Animal Kingdom....we will be there shortly...la de da la de da...." Gotta love those automatic recordings....esp. the one on the monorail. Jon and I both were engaged in a indepth conversation with a family that was so into pin trading and gave us a few tips. Needless to say, Jon was all wound up on pin trading for the day. :scared: Actually, I am so glad that Jon found a new hobby, he is a collector of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Figures and I think he has all them, about 200 of them, now he has about 400 godzillion disney pins to find/collect to add to his now 150 pin collection. I admit, I am a bit into the pin trading thing, but not as bad as Jon is. He did have fun with it....I did enjoy watching him as he would approach a guest or CM with a lanyard asking them, "show me what you got!" :rolleyes2
We arrived at AK. The day was sunny and nice, but very cold, again with the high in the 50's. So we were bundled up again.....I am so blowed up looking in these pics b/c I dressed in layers. As we arrived we saw our freind Pluto....he is such a sweet doggie.
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1581.jpg
I was missing my baby girls so bad after meeting Pluto....I wish Disney would allow pets in some of the resorts, but totally understand their policy on pets. Gabbie and Drucilla would be insulted if we placed them in any kind of kennel....
We also ran into this guy......
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1587.jpg
Look how huge I look? Those biscuits and gravy plates for breakfast were catching up with me.....
Animal Kingdom was dead. No one was there and we were not complaining. We walked around and took some more pics.....
I am starting my diet on Monday......:upsidedow
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1589.jpg
I declined with a no when Jon said...."Oh honey, they have your turkey legs here too.....:faint:
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1592.jpg
I did a really bad thing and sent this pic to my best freind who is a vegaterian.....I did get a slap back from her when we returned! Anyway...
We got in line for Dinosour....there was no wait, we hopped right on. Again, I was leading the way heading to the loading area and poor Jon was trying to take pics.
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1595.jpg
We liked the ride. Cool special effects. It was funny when we saw that Claire from the Cosby Show was the host on the video screens.....Jon hated the Cosby Show back in the day and he hates it when I watch the reruns on TV Land. :rotfl: Anyway....we like the ride and did not do it again. The Yeti was calling our names......so we crossed over to that area where Everest was standing proud and tall.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1598.jpg
I love the fact that you can't really see any of the track until you are actually on the ride.....
We stayed on Everest the whole afternoon. I can't tell you how many times we rode it, had to been 12-13 times. We loved it! So cool! Loved the theming also! Jon took more pics of the que line.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1615.jpg
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1602.jpg
The standby line did not go over 20 minutes....so when we got off the ride, we got back in line. I wanted to ride in the front, but Jon declined.
We did eventually leave the Mt. Everest area and headed over the the Yak and Yeti CS for a quick bite. We did not eat that much b/c we knew a feast was waiting for us at Boma!
We did get a chance to see the Jungle Jammin Parade.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1633.jpg
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1628.jpg
Sorry, the pics are not all that great....but it was great parade!
We also did the Bug Life's Movie. Awesome! I highly recommend that....that was so cute! Loved the art work on the Tree of Life! Wonderful attraction.
We also did some shopping.....and grabbed some pins.....we wanted to see the Lion King Show, but we missed the last one! The CM said that we missed the last show, little did we know that Extra Magic Hours was in effect for AK, we could have seen a 6pm show. I wish the CM had told us about this....anyway..... We had our Boma reservation and I wanted to wonder through the AKL, which is another resort on our list to stay!
Jon and I headed over to the bus depot and we waited, waited for a long time. There were a flock of guests on scooters that were coming to AK from AKL for EMH and it took awhile for the CM to get the bus cleared out.
We boarded the bus to the AKL......wow! What a resort! That place is huge! We got a chance to walk out to the viewing areas for the savannahs. It was a little dark and the animals were sleeping already. Overall, the resort was top notch and all the CM were so freindly and nice.
Boma was busy. We had an 730 ADR and ended waiting for about 20 minutes. We headed to the bar for a drink.....and Jon finds a new hobby of collecting glow cubes! :sad2: I was getting ready to call my cousin who is an attorney and ask him what we needed to do to calm bankruptcy:sad2: j/k!
I questioned the fact of making an ADR at Boma. I have heard so many bad reviews. I am glad we went there....the food was excellent and I am glad that we went there. I was hooked on the salmon and chicken. Jon as well. We both really enjoyed all the different prepared foods.....and the deserts! OMG! They were really good too! Again, I am so sorry that I did not take any pics of the food......sorry food porn peeps!:guilty:
We left AKL a little late. I was afraid that we would not be able to find a bus to take us back....but there was a bus that headed to DTD.....DTD is so close to SSR our driver was so nice to take us back to our building. Again, we were the only ones on the bus to "home."
Very nice day all together. We did not return to AK during our week but we will be back!:)
Thats it for Day 4! Stay tuned for Day 5.....Chef Mickey's and back to Epcot!

Thanks! I will always remember this trip.....I think we are done with the typical amusement parks like Six Flags, etc.....everything was top notch at WDW!
Wow! 5th trip! Thats so cool. We are looking at dates already later this year to return! So we will see what happens in the preplanning process....already looking at the calendar and see what dates works best for leaving work and finding a house sitter!!! Jon has given me the "green light" so we will see....

Love your TR -- my DD and DGS will be so jealous that you got to ride EE so many times (it will be really busy when we're there in June). DGS is crushed that Space Mtn will be closed while we're there -- it's his fave.
Do you have photos of your room at SSR? What kind did you have (studio? 1BR?) -- glad to hear it's okay to be in Carousel. I expect that's where we'll be put also, but I hope we get to be closer to a mug refill station (I plan to put in a request, for whatever that's worth).

Thanks mecllap! I can't believe how much we rode it too! Someone told me that AK was the "forgotten park" and when we arrived there, I believe her now! Yeah, it is sad that Sp Mtn is gonna close, but Im sure it will be awesome when it comes back. Didn't they close Sp Mtn for awhile at DL? What exactly are they gonna change? I guess we will find out soon.
I have no pics of the room at SSR. It was a queen studio and it was quite lovely. Again, we were hardly there, but the location was good. The walk to the main buidling looked far, but it really wasn't. Jon and I love to walk and we really thought nothing of it. We never got one of those mugs, we took a full case of water and stored in the fridge that was in our room. The CS memeber that checked us in wanted to move us when she found out that it was a 1st time, but there was nothing available at the time....we were fine with the location....it was close to the main highway that leads to the side enterance near that shopping center right off of exit 66 ??? not sure, but it was all good.

Okay! Onto Day 5!
Now don't everyone faint!:faint: Jon and I decided to have Breakfast at Chef Mickey's located at the Comtempory Resort. Our ADR was at 11am. I know that is late for some, but it worked out fine for us. It was like brunch, but with all breakfest food.
We took the bus to MK and then hopped on the monorail to the Comtempory. *Please stand clear of the doors.....Par favor and I don't know how speak spainsh for the rest* Gotta love those auto annoucements. It must have been our week, we got to ride in the front cab again! :hyper: It was cool experiencing how the train goes into the building.....and I have seen this a million times on TV!
Chef Mickey's was a zoo. Overall, a great experience, but too many pushy families standing in line waiting to be seated. They take your pic if you wish, but it's an extra charge. We checked in at around 1045am and were seated right at 11am. Our host was very freindly and he was from Brevard, NC, a town very close to Asheville! So nice to speak to a fellow N. Carolinian!
The buffet is huge. We were starving so it was just fine, Pig Fest 2009 continued..... Our waiter keep the OJ coming and that was such a plus! They had everything.....and this 1st pic goes out to Uncle Remus.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1650.jpg
I think I ate about a dozen of those....drench in syrup! Mmmm...so good and Im not even a waffle person...
They had bacon, sausage, and eggs prepared with cheese yum yum....I was eating off the kids section also.....they had tarter tots! We both really over stuffed ourselves here folks....so be prepared to chow down if you go.
It was also great that this is a character breakfast. Everybody came by except for Mickey....but we did see Donald Duck, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto.
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1638-1.jpg
Dang! I'm huge in this pic! It was getting near the end of our trip, so I know it was beginning to show!
And here is Goofy again with another Goofy....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1640.jpg
Donald decided to sit with Jon and take a load of his webbed feet....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1643.jpg
After breakfast, we went to the retail store on the main floor and guess what we purchased? Another pin! Yay!:p
We hopped on the monorail and got off at the TTC station. Then transfered to the Epcot Monorail. Jon had to get another coffee at the TTC. Warning, they do not accept the DDP at this location...anyway...you would think Jon had enough coffee at breakfast...I swear that boy is going to die with a Starbucks in his hand...
Epcot was much better today. We went directly to Mission Space and Test Track. We grabbed a FP for Test Track and stood in line at Mission Space. The sign informed us that the wait was 40 minutes. We ended up waiting 90 minutes. We told the CM that maybe they wanted to check the wait time and he blew us off.....oh well! Anyway, Mission Space was awesome and we enjoyed it. We did the full strength orange side....my head is still spinning thinking about it! But it was worth the wait!
Here is Honey Lamb just after we finished the ride.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1659.jpg
And here is Elise, I mean me at Test Track.
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1661.jpg
Jon said that Test Track was no different than him riding me with in my car when I'm in a hurry to get somewhere.....:snooty: I loved it! We rode it a couple of times. We did a lot shopping at the MouseGear shop that was nearby. Also we rode the Spaceship Earth thingie too...people had told me to stay away from that, but we enjoyed that also.
We had a ADR at Teppan Edo located in Japan. So we ran through the World Showcase without stopping to look at other countries. We basically stayed in Japan that evening. Love that country. The shop was awesome....and I maxxed out one of my credit cards here! Anyway...Teppan Edos was wonderful. It was similar to your basic Japanese Steak House, but the staff here really makes the difference. They are so freindly and nice. We did lot's of bowing here! The food was excellent...again, sorry for not getting pics....we made freinds with this really nice family from Boston at our table! We will go here again on our return! Oh, and the chocolate ginger cake is to die for....loved it!
The night ended with the awesome Illuminations Show....they showed clips of Obama taking the oath on the globe which was a little teary eyed for me, it was just wonderful!
The bus route home was nice and quite again. We had a few folks recapping the day with us on the bus.....we were so worn out!
I hope everyone has a great weekend! My sister-in-law and BF are coming by tonight to see us since our return, so I hope to have Day 6 coming up soon. Day 6 consist of Sci Fi lunch, a final ride on Rockin Roller Coaster, back to MK and a trip to Hoop de Doo Revue...gotta love the park hopper....
Nite everyone!

Thank you! There's more a comin'....almost there!!!
Great reading so far! :thumbsup2
And dear Lord, you are far from heavy or big! You look great!
Before this trip, Jon and I were on a strict diet....before our wedding, we both were 60 pounds heavier and I just knew I gained it all back at WDW. Thank you though!

I already knew we had not seen all of WDW....there were so many things I wanted to go back and do....we missed the Safari Ride at AK and I wanted to see Festival of the Lion King.....We didn't stop at all the countries in the WS. Our days were getting numbered......
We slept in a little late this morning and we had a lunch ADR at Sci Fi at DHS. I was ready to go back and ride the Rockin Roller Coaster again. So, the plan was to hit DHS, eat lunch, and ride the coaster and ToT....love them both!
We took the quick bus ride to DHS and hopped off. Got into the park with no wait. DHS was not so crowded like it was on MLK Day....they were still doing the work on the hat......
I went directly to the FP station at Rockin Rollin Coaster and grabbed a time for 1pm. It worked out good b/c our lunch ADR at Sci Fi was at 1130a. Jon shopped on the main strip while I picked up the FPs. I wondered if he bought any pins? I did not ask....:rolleyes2
We checked in at Sci Fi and were "parked" in our "car." I loved this place...
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1689.jpg
I finally got to visit a Drive In with my honey and we felt like teenagers....taken back to the years of Happy Days....just without Donny Most and Opie....:lmao:
The food was quite good. I had the basic hamburger and Jon had the ruben. We both cleaned our plates...so it was good. The desserts were awesome too. We both got Sundaes with hot fudge and m&m sprinkles....yum! There were no complaints here and we will be coming back here!
I think if the back seat was big enough then we would have gotten in trouble and they would have kick us out! That may be a little TMI....we had fun! :rotfl:
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1694.jpg
Lunch did not take that long....the movies and scenes were starting to repeat themselves, so we left. We had about 30 minutes to kill before our FP time at RR, so we went and met some more freinds....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1704.jpg
And these guys....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1708.jpg
It was time to head over for another super strech limo ride with Aerosmith....Jon has a fear of riding in the front of coasters, bless his heart, when the CM asked to wait in the number 1 slot, I was like...yay!!!! :hyper: We get the front!!!! Loved it! Here is the pic that we did not buy, but Jon took a pic of the monitor...I think they need to include these pics on the photopass....anyway....we had fun in the front car! Look at our faces!!!:lmao:
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1711.jpg
We also took a final ride on the ToT......the standby wait was 10 minutes....loved how they change the ride so that no one gets the same experience....
After our goodbyes to DHS, it was 2pm and we decided to visit MK again. It was either that or WS at Epcot. So the plan was visit MK and then go to Fort Wilderness for our ADR at HDDR.....yahoo!
There's something about MK.....we just love it there and we seem to be drawn there.....but we did get to ride the other mountian!
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1718.jpg
We had a stand by time wait of 40 minutes for Splash Mountain. We also grabbed a FP for Big Thunder also, so we hopped right on Thunder Mtn after our Splash Mtn ride.
Here is me studying the map.....such in deep thought.
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1717.jpg
We visited Adventureland....ran into Pan and Wendy....all I gotta say is that Wendy needs to give it up......I will be nice and keep my comments to myself.
:snooty:
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1749.jpg
We did all the things in Adventureland....the POC ride, the tree house, Jungle Crusie.....and spent a snack credit. Jon got one too.....mmmmmmmm!
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1761.jpg
This is another pic that goes out to Uncle Remus....anyway! I love pineapple and pineapple does not agree with me....I always have this reaction to pineapple, my tongue gets swollen and the edges of my lips get really red...but I did not let it stop me from enjoying this treat. Jon glupped his down also.....a great use of a snack credit.
While sipping on our floats, we watched the show at the castle....ya know the one with the dancing queens and other characters....it was cute. Sorry no pics. We saw the same Pan and Wendy in the show that we met earlier, they must left for the show right after our pic was taken with them....
The afternoon was just very nice strolling around the MK with the love of my life......we took some more pics also.

http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1785.jpg
You can tell it's getting to be the end of our trip...look at my sad face!:sad2:
We headed down Main Street and spent another life savings on merchendise to take back home for freinds and family. I spent way too money our nephews and neices...but they are spoiled by Jon and I. Uncle Jeff and Uncle Jon will be bringing them here soon.....as soon as I get my Prozac prescription renewed.....anyway...
After shopping a bit and pin purchases....we headed to the boat dock for the ride to Fort Wilderness for Hoop de Doo....the boat ride was nice! A little cold, but nice. Crowds of people were lined up at the FW dock to head to MK for the fireworks....our ADR was at 715pm.....
Loved the dinner show! Just have these pics to share. The food was really good....fried chicken, ribs, beans, taters, salad, cornbread...right up my alley!!!! Everything was good! Delish strawberry shortcake also for desert.
Here I am....wondering where that hunk of a man that was dressed in the blue and gold outfit that was in the show......:faint: Anyway....it was all good and we will do it again on our return.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1789.jpg
Here are some more pics of Pioneer Hall at FW.....

Make your ADRs for the place as soon as you know you want to go there! They do charge your credit card at the time of ressie being made. Very popular place, but worth every penny of it! We enjoyed it very much....
Question...for those of you that have been here....have you all seen the painting on the men's restroom wall? Very interesting....
The night ended with 2 very full bellies and several empty pitchers of Sangria from dinner....we hopped back on our lonely bus back to SSR. The CM that was driving was very nice and talked to us about our week.
Day 7/8- The tears....I will post tomorrow or tonight maybe....:sad1: Day 7 was spent at WS and DTD for shopping. We also packed that night getting ready for the departure to HHI. See yall then!

They were yummy....so cute too! Thanks for the comments!!! Im pretty dang proud of myself....
Chef Mickeys was fun....it was crowded and a little hetic, but as soon as we sat down in our little corner, it was great. I think the host sat us in a quiet section....the action seemed to be going on the other side! But all the characters do make their way around the whole place....I can't imagine being a character at that place! Im sure it's a busy job to make sure you seen everyone in the place....I'd do it again!

Very nice day all together. We did not return to AK during our week but we will be back!:)
Thats it for Day 4! Stay tuned for Day 5.....Chef Mickey's and back to Epcot!
When you go back if you make ADRs at Boma or Jiko (YUMM-O).... here is a quick tip.
Out by the pool (you can ask) they have night viewing goggles and you can see the animals. I think its 8-10 each night (I am sure it changes with time, etc). Anyway, a truck comes and puts out "snacks" for the animals between 930 and 10 and they put the snacks right in the viewing area.... You can see pretty much everything even without the viewing goggles they come pretty close!
Glad you enjoyed the day! I am enjoying your trippie :)

Oh having to recall the day's events on our final day at WDW is so sad. We had a great final day, but the whole thought having to leave the place was too sad. We hadn't seen it all! Plus, we were going to meet my parents the next day at HHI. I got lucky for a 2 bedroom villa at Disney's HHI Resort, which I will post the pics on my final post.
Good News...Jon officially gave me the green light on planning our next trip, so we will be back either the end of September or beginning of October. Yay!!!! :hyper:
Okay...Day 7. I missed driving our car so we used that as our transportation for this day. The bus system is very nice, but it was a good change for us on our final day at the world.
We went to the Boardwalk 1st thing after breakfast at our resort. After breakfast is when we found out that we had 6 counter service credits left on our DP and we are leaving the next day! Oh gosh! So we knew we were going to be doing a lot of piggin out....
After breakfast we began our day's journey driving to the Boardwalk. I think I fell in love with that place instantly. We had seen some great resorts through out the week, but I think I am drawn to the BW Inn and Villas. It does have that Atlantic City feel which is neat. Any of you all that stayed at BWV??? I would love to hear your thoughts!!
Parking at the BW was no trouble as I have heard on her before, we just showed our KTTW cards and they let us park on the property. We explored the resort and Jon could tell that I wanted to really stay there so I think this maybe home for us in September/October.....
Here are some pics that Jon took....
Love the decor....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1805.jpg
And I do wanna go here and cut a rug....anybody ever been?
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1809.jpg
And we stopped by Sea Shore Sweets Candy Shop....and I was happy to see the Miss America Theme inside the shop.....Jon and I are volunteers for the Miss America Organization, on the local level, it was just really neat viewing all the history of all the Miss America's pictures hanging on the wall.
The official robe and crown was on displayed so Jon took a pic.....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1827.jpg
They would not let me try it on....:sad2:
After exploring the BW grounds and trading a few pins with CM there, we hopped on the boat to the WS entrance for Epcot. When I saw that we really did not need to take the boat to WS, BW being so close to WS, we knew then we wanted to stay at BW next time.....so close to Epcot! A hop, skip, twirl, and jump!:cool1:
We really enjoyed the afternoon strolling around WS, we did not go up front to FW, we really enjoyed WS. Here are some pics from that afternoon....

The coi in Japan....BTW....Japan is our favorite country at WS!
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1839.jpg
And we ended up eating lunch at Norway....
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1867.jpg
Jon got a roast beef sandwich with a chocolate cake thingie for desert. I got the chicken salad with a coconut custard thingie for desert. Save your time and money eating here...the only good thing I can say about eating in Norway is the deserts are really good, but the actual food items are not that great....:sad1: I will go back here if I have craving for something sweet! Not for lunch though...blah!
We ran into Musu in China...he is so cute!
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1860.jpg
We actually ran into a lot characters throughout the WS..Pooh and friends were in England...along with Mary Poppins. Also, we saw Jasmine and Aladin in Morocco....Dopey was in Germany. I didn't get any personal pics of them....but Photopass did and I ordered our CD from the Photopass online, but we have not received it yet. Speaking of Photopass, a really nice photopass lady did a photo shoot with me and Jon while we were in France which was very nice of her! She got some great pics of us, it was like having our own private photo session. I guess she was bored and wanted to take some photos of us.....:artist:
So, it was just a nice relaxing day strolling around WS and it made up for most of the afternoon. The weather was very nice and it did get up into the 70's that day....just a good day! We sampled some food from other areas to use up our CS credits....Mexico's CS was like Taco Bell. England had some pretty good Fish and Chips.....again, sorry that I took no food pics!
We did return home to dress for our ADR at O'Hauna's. Our ADR was at 830p and we were excited to see the Poly and eat at O'Hauna's.....warning about driving to the Poly.....the parking places are hard to find there, so go early if you are driving your own vehicle. It was like the mall at Christmas.....we were way early arriving....
The Poly is lovely. Love the tropical theme.....here are some pics!

At the bar....
I just told the bartender give me something fruity, and he noticed that I had Jon already, so I got a Island something....and Jon got something with a glow cube!
Here's my drink!
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1909-2.jpg
Okay...onto O'Hana's....and I will try to be nice. Early in the evening, I checked in at 8pm for our 830pm ADR.....It took almost an hour to be seated. The place was a huge zoo. We had a great time browsing through the shops and roaming the grounds, but we waited a long time to get seated.
And I hate to be negative about this review at O'Hauna's....we hated it. The food was awful. The only thing I liked was the chicken wings and desert. Jon became ill right when we were seated. Maybe it was a reaction from his drink, but it was the same drink he ordered at Boma which he was fine then. Overall, I really don't know what the fuss is all about O'hauna's....I hate that we did not have a good time. We did not let it kill our last night at Disney, it was just plain out horrible. The service was good and we commented to the very nice waitress that we were not "feelin' it " tonight.....Jon was sick during the whole dining experience...but while he stepped away, I took some pics of the action in the restuarant....
This lady was sweet, but she was beginning to get on my nerves...
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1911.jpg
If you have kids, they will love this place....they raced around with the coconuts...and we had ring side seats.....:rolleyes2
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1915.jpg
And I will end this note with a self pic of Jon and I.....Jon is trying to be happy but he was feeling the bad spirit of Ohauna's.....:sad1: I was feeling his pain....but it's all good! We had a wonderful week!!!!
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1918.jpg
We went to go get the car in what was now a nearly empty parking lot and since Jon was feeling a little better, we went to DTD for some more shopping. Shopping will cure anything!
We came back "home" and we packed up a little so we would not have to worry with in the morning! A sad time.....:sad2:
Next up....a final note and pics of Disney's HHI Resort...

If you like the concept of Ohana, and want better food, and have a car, you may want to try Texas de Brazil. It's on the far end of International Drive. They have a website, and if you join their Internet club, you will get lots of coupons! The place blows Ohana out of the water!

Now...why would ya' say this? Curious minds want to know. We're doing Ohana's for the first time this comin' up trip. And I've been hearing this. And now I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to pick a different place. :confused3
The end??? :guilty: But...it feels like it just began.
Well....I thought it was going to be something we both like. It was different, the menu looked great when I was planning.....most of the reviews were great...I don't know....it was just not a good experience.......I guess it was all that protein!:confused3

And yes, the "entertainment" at Ohana can get a little......ummm......over the top! Ask for a table behind the fire pit if you are childless.

If you like the concept of Ohana, and want better food, and have a car, you may want to try Texas de Brazil. It's on the far end of International Drive. They have a website, and if you join their Internet club, you will get lots of coupons! The place blows Ohana out of the water!
I am making that note....your are awesome,,,,thanks for the tip!

Well...the lady was sweet as pie, but it got old after awhile. I was just waiting for the Professor to come and kid nap Jon and I and take us to the burial grounds.....the Poly looks like a great place to stay, but I hated we wasted dining credits there to eat.....

Thanks, hon. I have a bit to make my decision.
Personally...it looked like a neat experience. But...if the chicken wings are the best they got...I'm in trouble.

Love the BW-Dan and I have been members there going on 11 yrs.
The BW is more of an "adult resort" minus the screaming kids which makes it great. Not snooty like the YC/BC can be. Casual relaxing elegance best describes the BW. Stayed on the Inn side once and the rooms over on that side of the resort are also nice. The BW is also beautiful during the holidays also as they change out the light bulbs on the actual BW to red and green.
We usual visit WDW in Sept-early Jan. but we just purchased a DVC add on at Bay Lake Tower so we will be staying there in Sept and at the Tree House Villas before our annual Disney Magic cruise.
Been to Gay Days a couple of times which is also fun.

But seriously, it was amazing! I hope our first Dis trip together in May is as much fun as your alls (I'm sure it will be)! It will be my third WDW experience, his first! So I'm REALLY pumped!
So in short -- Loved the pics/report!

I am sorry you had a bad experience! This is my favorite place to eat! Oh and Kona! I just love them! My only complaint ever was I got a piece of dry turkey last trip, but the next round it was better.
We sat back in a quieter section the first time. Our 2nd trip we were by the window and it was fireworks! They dimmed the lights and played the wishes music. It was nice.
*sigh*.... I wish I were there in your place.... Although I have heard mixed reviews lately, we have always had great experience!
As for World Showcase CS meals.... Try Morocco! Mexico... ugh. Its worse than taco bell and I really don't like taco bell!

When we went to 'Ohana, it was probably close to 8:30 or 9. We arrived as the woman you showed a picture of was wrapping up her show, which all the kids seemed to love.....but we were glad she was finishing up. If I remember right, they piped in the music from the Halloween fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom into the restaurant, which was pretty cool. I tend to be a very picky "foodie", and was surprised at how good the food was at 'Ohana. Maybe we were there on a good night. :confused3 I wouldn't put it in my top-5 restaurants of WDW, but I still enjoyed it. If I go back, I'll be sure to not eat lunch that day because the term "all-you-can-eat" didn't fall upon def ears the last time.
Please note that by the time we were seated I had had about 2 or 3 scotch and sodas in my system, which may have persuaded me to think differently. :scratchin

Hey Scott...thanks for your comments about BW. Jon and I have been discussing the DVC and like you, everyone has great things about BWV, so I am hopping we will take the plunge. Jon has a few clients in DVC and they always mention the BW and comment just as you.....an "adult resort." Sounds like you all have some wonderful trips already planned! Overall we were really impressed with everything there, minus a few food places, but we are still learning and I appreciate everyone's comments.....it really helps.

I think it was just a bad night. I knew, as I was getting this report together, that I was going have to say the bad things about Ohauna's. It could have just been a bad night or maybe the chefs were not on task...who knows? The service was wonderful....we never complained really, we had been eating nonstop all week, and maybe this was just a bad call....:confused3 Thanks for the tips at WS, Jon was scared to try Morocco...he saw lamb, and freaked out.....HHI will be coming up sometime today! That was a fun stop!

The lady was very nice and welcoming, but I can tell she was worn out. Everyone there was having a birthday so she went to each of the tables to do her "thing." I think she was being aggravated b/c everytime she would mingle in with crowd and visit tables, a hord of children would follow her. She would keep saying, "okay, kids, I will be with ya in a second and we will limbo!" Jon said that he would love to return to the Poly to visit, either to have a drink or shop or maybe stay, but not to eat. I personally would love to give it a try one more time or either try Kona......

I love staying at the Poly, which is why I hate to say this: The restaurants at the Poly are all fine, but you're paying for the atmosphere more than anything else.
I've never eaten at the Kona Cafe for anything other than breakfast, which I always enjoy. If you've never had Tonga Toast, try it once just so you can say you've had it. (It's a sourdough french toast stuffed with bananas, and dusted with cinnamon and sugar and fresh berries on top.) Even though I'm not a huge fan of sweet foods, this is actually very tasty....and not quite as sweet you'd think by looking at it.
The Poly is my favorite WDW resort, but when I want to have an absolutely amazing meal, I'd go to one of the other resorts. :guilty:

Okay...onto O'Hana's....and I will try to be nice. Early in the evening, I checked in at 8pm for our 830pm ADR.....It took almost an hour to be seated. The place was a huge zoo. We had a great time browsing through the shops and roaming the grounds, but we waited a long time to get seated.
Yeah, I have tried Ohana's for both Breakfast and Dinner and haven't been to impressed each time. I love the decor and theme of the Poly but the food was just ok. I didn't mind the "show" during dinner, but we coudln't even hear the lady on the mic.... and I kept hearing when Kevin (from the DIS Podcast) said she looked like a Drag Queen, because he was right. And not a glamorous one :-)
Our server each time was slow and didn't come around that much.

What a sad time!!!!! The 7 nights just flew by!!!! We had packed the night before so we were ready to load up and hit the road. We packed up the car and drove over to main building to use our last CS credits for breakfast. We both ordered huge breakfast platters and Jon fueled up on coffee...it was time to leave! :sad1: We were suppose to talk with an DVC CM and to get the info on the DVC, but he was busy and plus we had to get on the road to meet my parents in HHI. Jon and I both were looking forward to just "chillin" at Disney's HHI Resort.....it was a good half way stop for us....we were booked for 2 nights and it was good to spend some time with my parents b/c I had not seen them in months....I missed seeing them at Christmas...
So, 300 miles later, we arrived at Disney's HHI Resort.:drive: Jon and I talked about our whole week together at WDW during the trip up to HHI....Jon arranged his pin collection....I can't tell anyone how many pins we ended up with.....:scared:
Check in was very smooth at HHI. The CM that checked us in was wonderful and she had a pin trading lanyard on so Jon started on her after she got us our keys to the room....the resort was DEAD! The CM said that they were not close to being half full.....she shared with Jon her Pin Trading book.....we did eventually unpack later that afternoon.
I took some pics of the rooms there. We got a 2 BR Villa...very nice. The theme decor is 1940's Fishing and Hunting Resort. It a very nice property!
The gate at the resort...cute......

I put Ricky and Lucy (aka, my parents in the other BR....they had their own bathroom as well...
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1943.jpg

I thought this was neat....Jon noticed and it reminded me how far we were from the happy place.
http://i487.photobucket.com/albums/rr235/Jeff90_01/IMG_1958.jpg
The beach was really nice. It is away from the resort...about a mile. You can walk there or ride a bike, or you can drive there. It's one resort, but seperated. The beach house was pretty cool and they had pool there too. Again, the place was dead and all the CM that worked there were looking for things to do....they said they are only busy during the beach season but had a few WDW guests each week making pit-stops there in HHI....Its a nice 1/2 way point for those who are driving.
They had a CS resturant there...but it was closed for rehab. We basically ate at major chain establishments....Outback, Chick Filet, there is a Piggly Wiggly there if you want to go grocery shopping. We spent the day in Savannah. It was about a 40 minute drive from the resort to Savannah. I bascially spent time catching up with my parents and touring Savannah. Cool city!

Well at Beach Club you would get in your car, drive past the Swan and Dolphin, make a wrong turn into Hollywood Studios, drive around the parking lot looking for the exit, make a U-turn at the Hess, and finally arrive at the Boardwalk........so ya, about 7 miles!

Jeff -- probably lucky that you missed the DVC CM at the end -- making a timeshare/vacation club decision in the emotion of loving your vacation is not a good way to go. I've been spending a lot of computer time on these cold days being tempted by DVC and have garnered a lot of info -- you will want to read all the DVC forums on DIS (of course they all love it pretty much, but still helpful ingo), and also go to the TUG site (I'll pm you a link) to learn about timesharing. Over the next few months it looks like there may be good resale opportunities for DVC.
Hate to see the end of your report -- looking forward to more photos. And to the comments you get for the tree-climbing photo!

That was actually one of the things I liked about the DVC presentation. He didn't ask us to make a decision at the moment in the emotion of our vacation. Instead, we were able to take everything home and think about it. We purchased a resale a few months later instead of buying directly, but, the same guide still maintains contact.
I do agree with the "do your research" advice though.

Hmmmmm......well.....to be honest, I wouldn't try 'Ohana again. LOL :lmao: WDW has so many other restaurants to try, why risk another bad meal? :) Plus, food and food service varies on a daily basis, which is one of the many reasons this sort of thing is so subjective. The places that remain consistant on a daily basis are usually the ones that get better reviews.
As far as subjectivity goes, take this example: The night I was there waiting at the bar for a table there was this woman who came up next to me with her friend. She was completely irate and was yelling and swearing up a storm because she had been waiting "over an hour" for a table, and she thought she was getting horrible service considering she was "paying so much money for staying at the hotel". I can't emphasize the word FUR-I-OUS enough here. (She was also a little tipsy, but I digress.) What I thought was weird was that we didn't have an ADR, and yet we got seated in less than 25 minutes. To top it off we had amazing service. Our server joked around with us, told us about himself (no...he wasn't gay), and after bringing one of the other servers to join in the conversation we were all laughing our butts off. I had a great dining experience. The food? It wasn't the best I've ever had. (I'd say about a solid 8/10 based on the fact that the food they're serving isn't supposed to be upscale or gourmet)......but based on the food and experience I had I would definitely go back again.

I wonder what driving directioins they used that put SSR 6 miles further away than BWV and Wilderness Lodge? :confused3
I have no idea...Im still looking at the map they gave us at check in trying to figure that one out.....
I think we are going down Sept 20-26. There will be five of us this time.
:sad2: We are pretty much leaning toward the date of arriving Sept 27! :sad2:
:guilty: Say it ain't so.
I know....:sad2:
Well at Beach Club you would get in your car, drive past the Swan and Dolphin, make a wrong turn into Hollywood Studios, drive around the parking lot looking for the exit, make a U-turn at the Hess, and finally arrive at the Boardwalk........so ya, about 7 miles!
:thumbsup2
Sounds like us driving our car leaving the Poly on Saturday night after Ohana's.:lmao:
I noticed that the advertising they do on the TV station that is piped through the resort rooms...."Call us now early in your vacation!"
Trying to work with this Photo Pass CD, my laptop hates it!
I am leaving that to Jon, he is good about those things...I just get confused! He has 2 cleints that are DVC members with and one of those cleints has a son that sells DVC, so we have great resources....:)
Well...I wouldn't really mind giving it another try, but I know we want try other places on our 2nd trip....so I know it will pretty much be forgotten. Sounds like you had good time! Our server was really nice when we were there and she knew we didn't care for the food, but we didn't make it a huge issue, Jon was ready to get out of there and I was feeling his pain, so we left right after signing our bill.

Thanks again, fellow Dis-brothers and sisters, for reading my TR. I know it wasn't the usual. I like to get straight to the point!:) I had a great time posting all the pics and I finally got it down!!!! yay!
I have made some really great "friends" on here and thanks again for everyone's tips and suggestions. I look forward to more discussions with y'all!:hyper:
I am so glad that we did not go to Vegas. We finally got our WDW Trip that we have been wishing for since we were kids.....30 plus years later, our wish came true! Jon and I have no regrets.....;)
No matter how old you are, once you have entered the MK, you are 10 again. Jon and I were kids and that's what it's all about.....making special memories and I am glad that I spent a week at the world with the one I love....::yes::
I am happy that with all the CM that we came in contact with, they were all so pleasant and freindly. There was one gal that was working at the Harbor House in MK that was just not happy, but everyone else was wonderful! (I hope I don't curse myself, probably when we return in the fall, we will have every mean CM available!!!!)
We enjoyed all the rides and attractions.....I especially loved the orginal ones, Peter Pan and Space Moutain. POC was amazing also....Everest, no words to descirbe....the Hoop De Doo Revue, that cutie in the blue and gold....the songs! Our friends from Japan....all the bowing. Mission Space and Soarin'....all just amazing! Most of all....I enjoyed spending time with my DH or should I say DP?? Im so glad that he was there with me.....
I can't wait for our next trip coming up. I have my list of tips from you guys and gals, I can't wait to try what we missed....which was quite a bit.
Okay...well...that's it. Thanks again everyone for joining my thread and keeping up with Jon and Jeff Show...:rotfl2: I can't wait to bring you all my
second trip report....
Stick a fork in this b/c it's done! And one more thing before I end this and this goes out to Monorail Man....

You are going to love Wicked - we saw it last March. Be prepared to buy the CD during intermission and learn the whole thing in less than a week - it's the gay thing to do :rotfl2:
And one last thing - you still never posted a pic of your puppy!
OK one more last thing, I'm sorry to see the trip report come to an end - it was totally enjoyable!

This reminds me of how my Adam found all the videos of the show on You Tube. That's all he listened to for about 3 months solid. He even does the motions with his hands every time Nessa sings tells Elphaba about meeting her "munchkin" boy.

A friend of mine managed to get tickets to Wicked for the opening night show on Broadway, and I can't tell you how many times he's brought it up in casual conversation (and annoyed me) over the years. But then if anyone brings up the fact to him that they're going to go see it he usually gets snobby and responds with, "That show is so five years ago."

First, not to sound just like everyone else, but you and Jon DO make a most adorable couple.
Looks like a wonderful first trip for you both. Just a few comments that I jotted down so my old brain wouldn't forget.
Very cool about getting those fastpasses for Soarin' when you were waiting in the stand by line.
You should have posted your rednecked picture from RnRC on my TR when everyone was posting theirs! :rotfl: And I agree - I wish every ride that took a picture made it easy to pop it onto your photopass card - like Test Track does.
We went to Hoop Dee Doo on our 2nd trip and we all LOVED it! So much fun. :) Oh - and I haven't been into the men's bathroom there, but I have seen a picture of the painting you're referring to. :rolleyes1
I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy 'Ohana. That stinks since it was your last night there!
And I'm glad you posted pictures of your room at HHI. Love the decor!
