Do you write phone numbers like this:

234-5678

or like this:

234.5678

?

And for those of you with 10-digit dialing, how do you like to write your area code... with hyphen, with dot, in parentheses, or just on its own like:
111 234-5678

?

I write 234-5678, but I notice more and more people using 234.5678 these days. So should I get with the trend?

I usually write with a .

With the area code, it goes like this:
111.123.4567

Just quicker than the - , I guess.

We're in a 10-digit dialing area... and I always write or type it as......

111-222-3456

I've never seen it with the . before.

When I am making my own notes, I use - because that's what I have always done.

However, with the company I work for, our guidelines require that we use . between the numbers in email or whatever...

So, I guess it is "professional" to do it either way.
