ok the first one is pretty boring. figured I would ease into it haha!

9/10/2008
after we checked in I was starving so we went to claim our refillable mugs (which we used once by the way!) and so i could use a snack credit (we had 28 to use!) so I got some peanut m & m's I don't remember exactly how much they were, but they were king size so I will say $2.50 woo hoo! and so it begins...:thumbsup2

Narcoossees Dinner

We love this place and our plan was to eat here the first and last night. start and end with a bang right? we were starving and ready for some "disney food" when we got there. We were seated by the window but we were RIGHT behind the check in podium. I was so happy to be in disney, and to have gotten our fabulous room upgade that I didn't care!

they brought out our drinks (sprite for both) and that fabulous bread and butter that i love.
For appetizers we ordered the fried shrimp and the crab cakes, both for Bobby :) I dont eat seafood so he got them both. but I didnt care I was more concered with my dessert haha. bobby ate up every bite of both and thought they were great as usual.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/060.jpg

for our entree's bobby of course, ordered the lobster and I of course got the filet. of course, they were both fabulous. whatever kind of sauce they put on my steak is just so good.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/062.jpg

For dessert we ordered of course the almond crusted cheesecake and we also got these different flavors of gelato.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/066.jpg

the cheesecake was divine, and it had been 9 long months since i had tasted it and it tasted exactly how I remember it! the gelato had some good flavors and a couple were just ok, but it was very refreshing and we ate all of that, too!

2 sprites: i think last time i decided on 2.39 a piece so I wil just go with that for now: $4.78
Fried shrimp: $15.00
crab cakes: $13.00
lobster: $59.00
filet: $39.00
cheesecake: $8.00
sorbet: $7.00

DDP: 4 credits total
TOTAL AMOUNT: $145.78 plus 6.5% tax = $155.25
**this amount does not inclue tip. I will not be including the tip amounts b/c 1.)i dont remember what we gave everytime 2.) we tip based on performance of the server, so ti was differnt everytime. so if you would like to figure up an OOP amount for tips just take each meal and add in somewhere between 11 and 17% and you will get a rough estimate of tip money you will need to bring.

we of course love this place and are going back in may with my parents for their anniversary dinner! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Looking forward to more reviews. I knew i was forgetting soemthing! the service wasn't bad but wasn't great. it was just "normal" and we expect more from disney, so we were a little disapointed. we have always had fabulous service here, so it was weird. maybe someone was just having an off day.

I'm in!:goodvibes

I've said this on all of your reports, but it looks so good there! We probably wouldn't go there unless we did the DDP though, which isn't likely to happen anytime soon. My parents own a timeshare about 3 minutes from AK, so we stay offsite. Oh well...maybe some year we'll either stay onsite or just splurge. Until then, I'll live through others' dining reviews. hahaha

Gotta have my diet Pepsi.:goodvibes well, we love the idea of the mugs, but since we were staying concierge, everytime we passed the lounge on teh way to our room we would grab a coke or sprite and put it in our fridge, so there was really no need to go to gasparillas to fill them up!

If you're staying on the concierge level , you do not need the refillable mugs. If you're not staying concierge , the mugs pay for themselves pretty quickly :thumbsup2

I like reading your trip reports and the dining reviews. We'll be going back in a year (actually a little more than a year--May 2010) and we'll be doing the deluxe dining also this time. We did the regular dining plan in 2007 and there were a few times we wished we could have eaten at another table service place the same day as our other TS meal but couldn't. I'm stashing away the extra cash now :thumbsup2

Hey heatherlynn! I am on your cruise thread and saw your dining report. Since we live in FL and have annual passes, the dining plan is really no deal for us, and I am so scared to spend SO much money at a restaurant only to hate the food. I am such a picky eater! So I am loving this because you are reviewing so many of the places we've considered. Looking forward to updates!

Hey, I've been following your TRs and jumped to your DR. Very good so far. I have to ask if you ever went to GF Cafe to eat. It was the only ressie we could get so late for our trip in two weeks:cool1: I had to change since we were booked for 50s PrimeTime, but the American Idol opening is that day and we want to stay FAR from there. I know you almost always stay at GF so I thought I'd ask. Can't wait for the next installment.

Hey, kiddo! Glad to see you're doing a dining thread. The only places Teresa and I haven't tried that are on your list are Citrico's and Yak and Yeti. A couple of others, well, it's been years since I've eaten at 'em. This will be a great help as we plan for May, 'cause I think you and Teresa have similar tastes (no seafood, etc.)

Madison sure is being blessed these days with all the new, good restaurants, btw.

Of COURSE Disney food is better. It's Disney, right? ;-) But I do enjoy Changs, Biaggi's, etc.

We'll be at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas - among the first to stay at the new Kidani Village. There's a new restaurant opening there, too! I think we'll just miss y'all. We'll be there May 17 - 22.

My birthday is the 18th, and I still haven't chosen a dinner spot. I'm heavily tilting toward Narcoosee's; Citrico's isn't open on Mondays, or else that's where we'd head toward.

We're all fine, except we made a 3 a.m. trip to the ER this morning. I've got a kidney stone. I wouldn't wish that on Bin Laden. So, I'm at home on narcotics and amazed I can even type.

I agree, Disney food is better, but MS has some good places to eat (from what I hear--sourpuss husband never wants to go further than Pearl or Dogwood to eat  ) although we occasionally aka once a year, make it to Amerigo's on Old Canton. Love that place.

Gosh, Heather ... I wonder if Citrico's was just a seaonal thing? Gotta do a little research!

There are so many new cool spots around and in Renaissance - we want to try Mintz (? - I think I spelled that right; I love Julep's, and that's the same folks).

Back OT - come on with the rest of your reviews, OK? It's getting close to my ADR times. ;)

We like CP for lunch. We always go for the first seating for lunch. I know the lines really do get long for the buffet, but the food is so nice & fresh, it's worth it. We do this even tho our DS is grown. It's the only character meal that we'll still go to.

Dinner: Flying Fish Cafe
DDP: 2 TS credits each

We had never been here before and were excited to try it. It was MONSOONING when we got off the bus and we were soakin wet by time we got there, and we even had ponchos on! they had dry towels for us at the door so we could freshen up a bit and dry off and I thought that was nice.

We were sat in the middle of the place and it is a cool place to look around at. Our server was VERY bubbly and really nice. when I told her I was a picky eater she was very helpful on what to order and not to order.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/120.jpg

I went with the cheese plate and bobby got the crab cakes
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/122.jpg

Bobby lvoed the crab cakes, but I did not like the cheese. GRANTED I am not much of a cheese plate person. I love regular cheese, like on a cheeseburger, nacho cheese etc. not not fancy chees.e I ahve never liked it, but thought I would give it a whirl. I am sure it tasted great to normal ppl though. Bobby really liked the crab cake and if I remember correctly said it rivaled Narcoossees crab cakes!

for entrees I got the NY strip and Bobby got the wrapped snapper.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/124.jpg

we both felt our food was good, but nothing to write home about. just average. nothing wrong with it...its hard to explain I guess! for dessert I got something chocolate but I don't see it on the menu! and I don't see bobby;s either. I think his was a YOMD dessert. here are pictures

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/127.jpg

the desserts were both good, but not narcoossees cheesecake good haha.
all in all, this was a good experience, but tehre are other 2 TS places we would rather go. We would be willing to try it again though, just not our "favorite" and when you have so many favorites like we do, it leaves little room for the "average" restaurant to get a chance!

I guess that's what make the world go around, we are all different. We felt about Narcoossee's the way y'all felt about Flying Fish, we just weren't wowed like we have been at all of the other 2TS places we've been to. Flying Fish is pretty close to the top of our list.:thumbsup2 Keep up the great reviews, enjoying them!

Breakfast: Grand Floridian Cafe
DDP: 1 TS each

it was so nice to wake up, walk downstairs and right into our restaurant to eat! we were seated right at the front, sadly not by a window. We have alwyas enjoyed this plac,e but this time we got stuck with a weird server. She was not all there, not very friendly, and it was just akward. the food was delicious though! Bobby got the American Breakfast, and I got the Maple Vanilla french toast.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/139.jpg

we also both got juice. I got apple, he got orange.

the place was pretty empty as you can see. SO, overlal, the food was good, but she service this time left something to be desired. But do not let this scare you away, I have had many fabulous experiences here. maybe it was an off day or something? so I give it :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

OJ: $3.00
french toast: $10.99
american breakfast: $12.99

Great updates. I am so glad you have the GF cafe in there. It is nice to know we can have a nice breakfast right there in our resort. The foodcourts are just to much for me to handle that early in the morning. I can not wait to hear about Citricos. The wait is killing me. I loved the steak at FF but Narcoosee's still whips FF in my book.

Lunch: Sci Fi
DDP: 1 TS credit each

I have eaten here several times, and this was Bobby's second time. This was the one day we did 3 TS meals in one day and I felt so sick after. when it was time for lunch I was still so full form breakfast I only ate about half my lunch and felt AWFUL after. the service was good, our waitress was very nice. we were in the back of a car and another family was in the front. for our drinks we both got strawberry shakes and water.
for appetizers bobby got the onion rings and I got the bowl of chilli. bobby liked the onion rings a lot and I liked the chilli ok, but I am not a HUGE chili fan.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/145-1.jpg

for entress bobby got th ribs and I got a cheeseburger, and for some reason i have no picture of this! so sorry guys! the burger was well, a burger. and its hard for me to say since I felt so bad. Bobby liked his ribs but dont think he thought they were anything special.

by this time I felt awful. there was no way I could eat some kind of chocolate dessert, so I got the fruit plate and bobby got the ice cream sundae. the fruit plate turned out to be very refreshing. i took a bite of bobby's dessert and it was very good. but really you cant screw up an ice cream sunday anyway haha.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/146-1.jpg

Dinner: Whispering Canyon Cafe
DDP: 1 TS credit each

we LOVE this place. we are both big hams, so we love the entertainment and we love good food. this being said I was worrie dhow I would be able to eat anythign the way I felt at lunch, and I was still full. But, here we were again ready to eat haha! we were seated in teh main dining room in a booth to the right/back. i got a cotton candy shake and water and Bobby got a strawberry shake and water.

we both ordered the skillet, but I told the girl i don't like salad is there anywya I could get the sausage and cheese appetizer (I LOVE cheese) and she said yes woo hoo.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/150.jpg

sadly, the only "antics' there were, was she threw some straws at us. there was plenty of stuff going on at the restaurant, just no fun at our table. oh well. surprisingly, I actually ate a decent amount of food!

but once again was stuffed for dessert so i got the fruit plate. it was HUGE! bobby got the banana dustbowl thing

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/154.jpg

I ate ltitle of both desserts and felt bad I left so much on my plate. that was like a fruit tray to feed 6 people! anyway, the food was excellent as usual, and ours erver was good in terms of getting our food adn drinks out etc. but the fun factor was way down on this one

Lunch: Yak and Yeti
DDP: 1 TS credit each

We were excited to try this new place. we have said for a long time AK needs a TS restaurant! we got to our 1:00 ressie early and did not like the waiting room. it had like 2 chairs! so we just sat on the floor! very ladylike I know but we were tired and hot and wanted to sit! we waited about 10 minutes and were brought to a room on the left with a lot of windows, and were seated so we could see out to the people wlaking around out front.

our server was a little quirky, but got the job done pretty well. our drinks were empty for a few mintues acouple times but other than that she did pretty well.

for appetizer we got the Dim Sum Basket For 2.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/173.jpg

I don't think I ate any of the appetizer! haha. not my thing. i think I got a coke and bobby got a sprite, too btw.

for entrees I got the crispy honey chicken and bobby got the steak ad shrimp
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/174.jpg

we were plesantly surprised by this meal. the rice was so good, and I had a bite of bobby's steak, SO GOOD! and my chicken was good, too. we really enjoyed this one and will be going back for sure on our next trip. the steak is pretty big that bobby got btw. and there was a lot of rice!

for dessert we slpit the chocolat brownie sundae for two. here we are eating it

it of course was again, good, b/c how do you screw up a sundae? we really enjoyed people watching out our window, and the food was very good. service could ahve been a little better, but voerall a good experience.
:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

steak/shrimp: $24.99

Dinner: the Brown Derby
DDP: 2 TS credits each

honestly, I don't know why i picked this place. ate here in 2003 when it was still a 1TS restaurant, and it was just ok. Guess I just wanted to give it another chance? I don't really know! anyway, we won't be going back hre for awhile if ever. our ADr was for like 8 something. when we got there, we waited about ten minutes and while we were just getting there, most people around us were finishing desserts. we were seated right when you walk in at a 2 person table. not the best location but I was tired and hungry so I didn't complain.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/181.jpg

we both ordered sprite I believe. and for appetizer Bobby got the crab cake and I got the lobster bisque, which of course bobby ate. they gave us good bread and I had a lot of that if I recall.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/182.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/183.jpg

bobby like the crab cake ok from what I rememebr as well as the soup. nothing spectacular but good enough.

service was slow. our server was very nice but SLOW and hard tot rack down. I guess b/c it was the end of the night and everyone was wanting their bill? By time we got our entrees there were like 5 tables of people left, which made em feel really bad.

we both ordered the NY strik steak
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/184.jpg

we felt the same way about the steak as bobby did about the appetizers. just a regular steak, nothing special.

so we ordered desser. by this time, there is ONE other table there. I felt really bad. this guy then walks in who also had our server and said he cant find his phone and is looking all around his table, so we decided to help. then I came up witht he bright idea to call the phone so we could hear it. bobby calls it and his wife answered. she had it all along. well we attempted to do our good deed for the day.

so dessert. I got the flourless choc. cake and bobby got the cheesecake.
]

mine was good but TOO sweet, i could barely eat half of it. bobby's cheesecake was just cheesecake. by this time, we are ready to go, and are trying to track down our waiter. this meal took FOREVER> forever for the food to come, forever for the server, FOREVER! it was after 10:00 and the park was closed by time we got out. I did not liek being teh last oens there. Made me feel funny and rushed.
anyway, we probbaly wont go back. it gets :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 and 1/2

:rolleyes1 + Citrico's. Gotta make ADRs in 10 days!

Sorry about Brown Derby. It's been a couple of years since we've been, but I swear, at the time, it was the best meal I'd ever had in any of the parks. Bummer. i will say what I always say. don't soley base something on one of my reviews. I am a very picky eater, and your experience may be differnt than mine.
but, for someone paying OOP I defiantely think this place is pricey.

I will have it up in ten days!

I felt really bad. this guy then walks in who also had our server and said he cant find his phone and is looking all around his table, so we decided to help. then I came up witht he bright idea to call the phone so we could hear it. bobby calls it and his wife answered. she had it all along. well we attempted to do our good deed for the day.

so dessert. I got the flourless choc. cake and bobby got the cheesecake.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/185.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/186.jpg

mine was good but TOO sweet, i could barely eat half of it. bobby's cheesecake was just cheesecake. by this time, we are ready to go, and are trying to track down our waiter. this meal took FOREVER> forever for the food to come, forever for the server, FOREVER! it was after 10:00 and the park was closed by time we got out. I did not liek being teh last oens there. Made me feel funny and rushed.
anyway, we probbaly wont go back. it gets :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 and 1/2

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/188.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/189.jpg

sprites: $4.78
crab cake: $11.00
soup: $8.00
steak x's 2: $33.00 and $33.00
cake: $8.00
cheesecake: $9.00
TOTAL: $106.78
Total with tax: $113.72

I must say that food really does not look very good :crazy2:

One thing about reading WDW food reviews is that people's tastes are all over the map. It's hard to distinguish between something that you just don't like (liver, for instance) and something that you don't like but is properly prepared and delicious to someone who DOES like it (in my case, anything with coconut). So, yeah, all reviews can be really subjective.

Last visit to the Brown Derby, I had grouper, and it was some of the best fish I've ever had, no kidding. But if you don't like seafood, well, it'd be gross. My wife, the pickiest eater that ever drew a breath, is a challenge to please some days. She generally manages, though.

We all have our opinions, and I love hearing other's hits and misses when it comes to Disney dining.

I totally agree with you here. I like reading all the reviews of Disney dining experiences. When we went in 2007, I saw soooooooooooo many bad reviews of Sci-Fi but showed the picture to my husband and daughter and they both really wanted to try that place, so I made the ADR and it ended up being one of the best meals of our whole trip, second to Coral Reef. Our worst meal was also the most expensive at Cinderella's Royal Table. I don't know that we'll do that one again. Blech.

Your wife must be a distant relative of mine :rotfl: I'm so picky, it just makes my husband crazy. But I must say, I'm getting better as I approach 40 :lmao:

Hey, neighbor! Funny thing about Sci-Fi ... we probably haven't been there in three years, but we had our daughter Amy and one of her best friends with us, and they split the shrimp entree. I was a little leery, just because I thought it'd be a much too "sophisticated" dish for Sci-Fi to pull off, and darned if it wasn't delicious. I love a good reuben sandwich, and theirs was spot on. So go figure.

The last time I was at the Coral Reef, it was good, but there simply wasn't enough food. Itty-bitty portions, but that wouldn't keep me from going back.

Heather, tell Bobby that he has exquisite tastes. Coconut is the last frontier for me - I detest it so much, I don't even want to see a picture of it. I can honestly say that it is the only food I've ever experienced that I just cannot eat. Some things are better than others - I've never, for instance, ever craved a big ol' bowl of beets - but I can eat them.

My poor wife, though. I've watched her spend agonizing minutes picking onions out of some dish or another. Or mushrooms, or "funny green stuff", etc. You should have seen her try asparagus once. It was something to see.

I shouldn't talk about her when she's not around for rebuttal. :sad2:

I love mushrooms, but don't do onions in any shape, form or fashion and I too will spend alot of time picking them out. As for "funny green stuff", it just really depends on how funny we're talking. I'll eat spinach raw, but that's it. I will not eat any sort of cooked greens--collard, mustard, spinach, turnip, you name it. Looks like cooked grass. :scared: I will not eat brussel sprouts either, but love okra, almost any bean & pea and asparagus.

Don't do peanuts either. Just the smell of peanut butter makes me gag. *shivering as I type this*.

This is probably terribly OT, but isn't it funny how of all the five senses, taste is the most subjective? We all could probably agree if something were "blue" or "red," and that a skunk smells bad. But (nothing personal  ) when someone says that they dislike peanut butter, well, I've got to wonder. I eat it by itself, with a spoon, when I need a fix. I like all greens, but I can see where that might be an issue for some folks.

Daughter Amy doesn't like chocolate. I'm not sure from whose loins she sprang when it comes to that. Nor does she like sweet iced tea. I'm like, "Girl, you're a Southerner. What's up with that?" Next to me, though, she's the most adventurous eater in the family. I watched in amazement on our Disney Wonder cruise as she polished off a pile of escargot ... she loved snails. And turtle soup. You get the idea.

It is interesting to hear that they messed up your DH's special surprise for you. We went to Disney World last August for our 1 year wedding anniversary. My friend back home called up the California Grille to let them know it was our anniversary and she ordered a cake for us from the restaurant. A whole cake that would say "Happy Anniversary Pat and Lauren" on it with champagne too.:flower3: She didn't tell me what the surprise was, and being our first time to Disney, I thought the confetti on the table and the dumb chocolate sign with "Happy Anniversary" on it was her surprise. She asked if I got it and of course made fun of her for it being so lame...and then she told me we were suppose to get a whole cake and I was so mad! She called the California Grille and they thought she ordered it for the following week.:confused3 So...we had a bad experience with a restaurant at Disney screwing up our surprise too. I feel like they should pay more attention to those things...it is suppose to be the happiest place on earth right??

Oh, and we are eating at the Coral Reef in June...our first time and that chocolate wave looks AMAZING! :cool1:

I think we were supposed to eat at the Grand Floridian Cafe maybe? anyway, We were walking around the GF one night and passed by it and they have the menu posted out front so we decided to take a look. Bobby really wanted to try it so I said ok,a nd we made a reservation for 5:30. (they open at 5:30) we got there at 5:25 and were asked to take a seat. they have a very nice little waiting area with tables and chairs. after about 4-5 minutes, we were seated. We were lucky enough to get seated by a nice window. I really like the theming of this restaurant. it is fun but elegant at the same time.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/226.jpg

This is when we were introduced to Danny. He is fabulous! I told him how picky of an eater I was, and we told him we were celebrating ouranniversary. He brought us Mickey straws!

we both got sprite, and ordered our appetizers. I told him I didn't like anything on the menu for appetizers, but I saw on the kids menu there was some cheese (I love cheese. not fancy cheese, just regular cheddar cheese) and he said it was not a problem. Bobby ordered the Sauteed shrimp appetizer

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/231.jpg
so I thouht I was going to get this puny kids appetier, but he had them fix me an adult sized cheese plate. I was so happy! and I love grapes, and crackers, so it was perfect for me.

for entrees, I got the Filet Jardiniere which is just an oak grilled stak, and bobby got the bone-in ribeye. all this time, Danny kept coming and checking on us and making smalltalk. When he found out I was a teacher, he went nuts and said how much he loves and respects teachers. He was just a great server. He cracked jokes with us, asked what we had been doing in disney, etc. etc.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/233.jpg

we both loved our food. the steak was great and so were the mashed potatoes. bobby loved his as well and ate every bite. He kept saying how we couldn't believe we had never been here before and how we had to come back.

for dessert I got the Warm Chocolate Banana Torte with ice cream and bobby got the Tiramisu. my dessert was pretty good, not my FAVORITE but still really good. Bobby loved his.

so anyway, we just loved this place. we told danny we were coming back in two days and asked if he would be working. he said yes, ad he said if we couldn't get a reservation to call and ask to speak to him and he would get us one. I also told him we were coming back in May with my parents (which we are)
anyway, this place gets 5 smily face stars.

:goodvibes Isn't it nice to get a really great server? They can totally make you want to come back to a place, and to bring your friends and family! If I ever eat at Citrico's, I'm totally requesting Danny. I like people who are flexible and accommmodating and who don't say "No" when asked if they can substitute something for you.

Can't wait to read more; you're making me drool! (closest I could find!)

Citricos is such an amzing place to eat. We ate there in December on Joe's (The Concierge at the RPC) reccomendation and now we are hooked and eating there again in May :cheer2:
I personally had the Truffled Potato Soup as an app , the Filet Jardiniere as my main course and the Tiramisu as my dessert. Everything was sooo good , I may get the exact same meal in May :rotfl:

Hi Heather! Great food updates, just looking at the pictures makes me hungry. I def. need to talk my DH into either Citricos or Narcossees. I have a question. Do you recommend going in September? My DH and I are planning a trip for September and I wasn't sure if it was a good time to go or if we should move it to October. If you wouldn't mind, could you let me know how you liked it there in Sept? Thanks!!!

Cape May Buffet Breakfast
DDP: 1 TS credit each

if you read my TR, you know I was so frustrated this mornng b/c there were NO busses going from MK to Beach club. we were 20 minutes late for our ADr and explained what happned to the girl at the podium. she gave us a pager and we were seated within 5 minutes.

we were seated to the left of teh restaurant at a 2 person table.
this is the only food picture I have
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/251.jpg

breakfast buffets just don't really excite me b/c I don't eat a lot for breakfast. Bobby went back several times of course, and I think i went back once. I did have a good time with the characters though

We were headed to Blizzard beach after this and I was itching to go. all of the sudden bobby got a bad stomach ache. I gave him some medicine and finally it passed. crisis averted!
service was not great here. We had a girl who barely spoke ENglish. She was nice, but only came b twice the whole meal to clear plates or refill drinks and it seemed a little too hectic in there (not enough servers maybe?) anyway, it was good, not GREAT food, I ahve had better, and we will probably not be going back.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 and 1/2 stars.

$18.99 x's two= $37.98
plus tax: $40.44

hhmm....I have never done chef mickeys. my 2 favorite breakfast buffets are Boma and 1900 park fare. with CP coming in 3rd.
maybe you will have a totally different experience at cape may. I am not a big breakfast eater. the food wasn't bad it just wasn't that exciting, and the restaurant had tables REALLy close together and the service was bad, but you could get a great server! I know that doesnt help much...sorry!

ok for lunch this day we ate at blizzard beach. well, I did. Bobby was still stuffed from cape may. I wanted something to eat, but we didnt want to use a TS credit that would be silly. But no where can you use a snack credit for real food. this made bobby really angry b/c snacks are generally 4 dollars and under, and a hotdog was 3 dollars but they wouldnt give it to us as a snack credit. so we paid OOP for that and I got a pina coloda icee/snocone thing with a snack credit. we left BB by 2:00 or so and ate concierge snacks until dinner that night.

ok, Since our ADR's were all messed up now since we added Citricos, we had no ADR for tonight. Our plan was to go to NArcoossees again but they were all booked. even the guy at the concierge desk couldn't get us in. But he told us to go down before they open (5:30) tell them our situation and asked if we could be squeezed in.

So thats just what we did. The lady said "ok go have a seat" so we did. they called every other party that was there for teh first 5:30 seating time. then it was just us left in the waiting room.

I finally got it with the monorail
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/262.jpg

ok so back to where we were, sititng in the waiting room. I glanced into the restaurant, and there were PLENTY i mean PLENTY of open seats. I figured ppl made reservations then never cancelled and didnt show up. so people, PLEASE if you change plans just CALL AND CANCEL so someone else can enjoy a nice meal!

anyway...we get seated, by the window, about halfway down. very nice spot

our server gave us free champagne and we had personalized menus for our anniversary.

We had this server when we were here on our last trip..or honeymoon...I dont remember but she is nice and very funny.

We probbaly both got sprite, and for appetizers I got the shrimp again (for bobby) and he got the seafood bisque.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/264.jpg
I didnt take a pic of the shrimp since we got it last time, same for the entrees, I got steak and bobby got lobster.
our entrees were fabulous as usual, and bobby really liked his appetizers. for dessert we got the almond crusted cheesecake and something I do not see on the menu. on the reciept it says "berry pyramid" it was just a bowl of fruit lol. it was very good and fresh and light, just what I needed after a big meal. Maybe I just asked if they could give me some fruit? i don't remember.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/267.jpg

Anyway, we left this meal very happy and I give it the same rating i gave it last time. we will definately be back! We love it here!

Sprite x's 2: 2.39 = $4.78
Shrmp: $15.00
Soup:$9.00
Steak: $39.00
Lobster: $50.00
Cheesecake: $8.00
fruit: $7.00
Total: $141.78

For your wedding, have you always been that thin? I'm three months out and I've been pretty sick for a few weeks now (so no working out)... Did you do anything special to get you in shape? I'm a bit fearful I'll underdo it and not fit into my freshly altered dress! (But i don't want to drop too much more and fall out...)

Great update!!!! Wish we could squeeze in Narcoose's but FH won't bend. He wants to see Luau and Hoop dee doo and tells me I can eat all the seafood I want in the keys.... Too bad. At least I got Citrico's!!!!

haha. yes I have, I played 3 sports in high school, so I have always been active. also I am 5'9" so a few pounds doesn't really show up on me. recently I have gotten back into running though. for teh wedding I ran, did elliptical, lifted light arm weights, and just ate in moderation. I didnt starve myself, i LOVE food way to much. not eating late at night really helped to. I try not to eat at least 2 hours before I go to bed. good luck I am sure you will look great!

you will have fun at hoop de doo!

DDP: 1 TS credit each

SO I know we already had lunch here, but as I have said before, Bobby loves breakfast buffets, so here we were! I once again wasn't that hungry.

we went about 8:30 I think, and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. We weren't too interested in teh characters since we already had pics with them from lunch.

bobbys plate is on the top, mine is on the bottom haha

Have I mentioned I love cheese? haha. Bobby got several plates and enjoyed himself. I do love the atmosphere of this place, but I think I was also upset b/c it was sinking in this was our last full day. nothing against this place at all, I just don't eat a lot at breakfast!

I give this place :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 .5 stars. the service is usually pretty slow and it was our longest wait for a table. Just your run of the mill buffet, but still good. we may or may not go back. there are a few other breakfast places bobby wants to try.

Where: Citrico's (again!)
DDP: 2 TS credits each

ok, I only took one pic from this meal b/c well. we ordered the same stuff as last time!! we had requested danny again, and we got him! this time we were seated right as you walk in, kind f with the kitchen behind us. It was ok but I liked the other location better. there was a pretty flower on our table, and Danny brought us a free appetizer each. They serve this at Victoria and Alberts.
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j33/hbridges/Disney%202008/279-Copy-Copy.jpg

he also gave us free evian water which was a nice touch. he was attentive as usual and took a lot of time at our table just kind of hanging out adn tlaking to us. The food was excellent again. Oh, I forogt to mention this last time. When he found out I was a teacher he ws so excited. He says he loves teachers and thinks its a very admirable job. So, as we are about to order dessert, I started probbing on whatw e were going to do that evening and Bobby surprised me with MNSSHP tickets! I kind of accidentally made him tell me, but i was so excited I wanted to go NOW b/c it has already started so we hurried through dinner to go back to our room to change an dhop on the monorail.

Before we left I left a note for Danny on our reciept telling him how great he was and how I would be back in May with my parents to see him! We rushed out to go to MNSSHP!

this meal gets :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Where: Kona Cafe
DDP: 1 TS credit each

I was sad because we were leaving this day and it was our last meal. We walked over from the GF to the Poly, and were seated in about 5-7 minutes. Right off the bat I knew it would be an interesting meal. Our server lady was AWFUL. it took her several minutes to come to our table and greet us and take our drink orders. i got that special juice they have and bobby got apple juice. 10 minutes later our dirnks come and she runs off before we could tell her what we wanted to eat! we finally flag her down and I get the tonga toast ad bobby gets the Big Kahuna breakfast. someone ELSE brings us our food, and we had to flag her down to get reflls. then she proceeds to tell us bobby will ahve to pay for a refill, that they are not free. huh? we hae never been anywhere on disney property where refills were not free. when we ate at the GF cafe for breakfast bobby had about 3 glasses of apple juice. after a struggle she said "ok, i will giv eit to you free this once" uh! ok then lady...10 minutes later she has the drink. I am getting REALLY annoyed and frustrated at this point. not how I want to end vacation. I coldnt even enjoy my food. I was so sick to my stomach I ate 1/4 of my tonga toast (that and it was WAY to sweet and big to finish for a non breakfast eater!) bobby ate most of his and I dont evern remember what he thought of it. I doubt we will ever go back there for breakfast again.

heatherlynn444
02-22-2009, 01:37 PM
ok, so i was curious myself, so i went ahead and did the tally!

the dining plan cost $69.99 per person per day, which for the both of us for the WHOLE TRIP came out to $979.86 that WE paid for the food we ate.

after adding up how much money we SPENT on food it comes out to $1462.17

which makes for a SAVINGS of: $482.31

we also got free champagne twice that i did not factor in here.

if you take the total we spent and divide it by 7 nights it comes to $208.8 dollars a day for both of us to eat. divide that by two, and it was $104.4 dollars per person per day to eat, and we paid $69.99 per person per day

is it worth it? for us DEFINATELY! is it for everyone? no! we use every credit, every snack, etc. nothing goes to waste.

now this does not include tip, as I said in the beginning, I do not tip universally across the board. it just depends on the service. so if you want to average in an average of maybe 15% across the board, that would be a rough estimate I guess. we just brought an envelope of cash and used it to tip from.

are we doing the dining plan in may? yes!!! here is where we will most likely be dining:

Cinderella's royal table dinner (I want Bobby to experience the castle)* I ate here many years ago
Kona Cafe Lunch*
Grand Floridian Cafe Lunch
Liberty Tree Tavern lunch*
Narcoossees Dinner (anniversary dinner with my parents)
Le Cellier Lunch* we did dinner here before
Whispering Canyon Cafe Dinner
50's Prime Time lunch
Crystal palace Dinner
Boma Breakfast
Coral Reef Dinner
Citricos Dinner
Yak and Yeti Lunch
Yachtsman Dinner*
1900 Park Fare Breakfast* i have done dinner here and breakfast years ago

ones with (*) by them are new places for us, or at least for that particular meal/time of day

well folks that is it! if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask! I am going to be fixing my siggy so I can have my links appear better in it, and I will add my next link in there, my TR for my mini weekend in January! after that i will do a May Pre TR! thank you all so much for reading, it was fun to write about and relive! :lovestruc

The best Disney breakfast I have had was at Boma's. I haven't eaten at all the restaurants but I have been to Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace, both of which we love for breakfast. Boma's had some variety we enjoyed. Also, we had a late ressie there as my body can't handle a ton of food first thing in the morning. Makes for an interesting experience on the rides.

I can't wait to be able to write my own trip report and dining reviews! Sadly it will still be another year and a half before I make my first trip back as a grown-up. LAst trip was 20 years ago when I was 10. I have missed it . . .

loved your dinning reviews and all the pictures! I think we need to try a few places you guys have ate at. It seems like we always end up at buffets even though that isn't our intention and I am not huge on them either. I'm heading over to your jan mini tr now. Thanks for sharing with us! I'm glad you saved money as well...always good to save a little money wherever possible! We did the deluxe plan too! Its so nice not to have to worry!:thumbsup2

We only go to one or two buffets on the deluxe plan because we like to get the most "bang for our buck" and we just dont feel buffets do that. while they give a lot of food, it's just not the same as a "regular" restaurant. I don't know, maybe I am just weird! haha

Wonderful Dining Reviews. I espescially like that you did a cost analysis. My hubby and I are going in a few weeks on deluxe dining and am so excited. Still trying to figure out a few of our restaurants though. Thanks for all the reviews and pictures!
