Not sure if this will help anybody but I've been sent some info from a friend regarding claiming a tax rebate for a little unknow tax allowance for tax year 02/03 and you only have until 31st Jan 09 to claim
You must have a child born between 6th April 1986 and 5th April 2003
The child lived with you for all of 2002/03
You work and paid tax for all or part of 2002/03
You need to check your P60 for the tax period 2002/03 and it must not end in H or a T. If it does you've already had it.
You can claim £529 of £1048 if your child was born in the actual tax year of 02/03. You can only claim for one child per household.
If does not affect future claims of Tax credits.
Check your P60 and then get in touch with your tax office. Unfortunately my DH's ended in a T so we've already had it but I hope it works for somebody.
I think you can get more info on www.taxcredits.org.uk but don't quote me!

According to Radio 4 Moneybox most people did claim this at the time - I believe it was the allowance that replaced the Married Man's allowance for a while. But it's always worth checking and I second Paul's advice to contanct HMRC yourself.
Here's an article from BBC

Yes apparantly 90% of people did claim it,but it is worth checking it out.
I checked it out last week and we have already been paid it-Hubby got it thru a reduced tax code in his wages-the majority of people did-but something they had forgotten about or not realised.
A nice suprise for people who did'nt though :thumbsup2 .x.

I couldnt find my payslips or p60's from then(house move!) so I have sent mine off anyway in the FAINT hope that I am due it hhehehee.. It would make the difference in the £/$ thing go away lol :cool1:
I hope some others do get it too, would be nice to think we are getting what we are owed and it isn't a drop in the coffers at the HMRC again lol

Unfortuntely, a lot of the emails circulating about this imply that everyone is due it and that HMRC are trying to hush it up.
Most of us had it at the time, but I agree it will be nice if you discover you're one of the few that didn't.

DD was born 4 April 2003 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: one day before the cut off and I know we didn't claim anything so after dinner I will dig out my payslips, who knows, we may get something (I was on mat leave though), it's worth a punt!
Thanks for the info:thumbsup2
