Assuming you are a party of 2?
Then the 4 would not be too snug. If you two sit in the back (rumble seat), that leaves space for one in the passenger seat, and three across the middle seat. Would not be too snug at all.

Some information that has apparently changed from what is listed in the first post here (besides the fact that it is now 180 days ;)) -

When I called the number all I had to do was push #1 - that got me directly to a reservationist. The first time I tried it as it is listed in the post and I got somewhere totally different (something for golf courses).

Also, the price for the basic Illuminations cruise is now $346.13 (with tax). I actually called back because I thought maybe the lady accidentally gave us the celebration package (with decorations) but no, that's just the basic. Just wanted to update the info! :goodvibes

I have heard of captain's mentioning it to people walking past but I have never heard of anyone just walking up and asking the family. I have one booked in March and we have space open. If someone came up to us, i would be willing.

We did a cruise two years ago w/ people we met on the Dis. It was all very last minute and we were an addition to their already booked cruise. The other couple was running later than us and one of the captains said that if our group did not show that one of the others might be willing to adopt us. :confused3 sounded like people take "strangers" often. Our group showed, so no need to hook up w/ anyone else.

Here's what you should do. Walk over to Bayside Marina, during Christmas around 8:30pm, non-holiday around 8pm. Look for any of the cruise drivers hanging around Bayside Marina (Blue Shirts & Pants). Ask if any of the boats have small parties. The pontoon can hold a total of 10 guests (including children and infants).
Let's face it, it's Disney. Most guests that have an entire boat and a small party would be more than willing to share with you. Aside maybe a very special occasion (Anniversary, Honeymoon).
Bottom Line - You got nothing to lose by asking.

A: for Wishes there are (2) levels of cruises. The lower does not have the soundtrack piped onto the boat, you may be able to hear it from the park, or from another, nearby boat
for IllumiNations you are surrounded by speakers and will hear everything.

Q: staying at the Contemporary, do they have ones leaving out of there??
A: yes, Wishes cruises are dispatched from Poly, Grand, Contemp, Wilderness Lodge, and even Fort Wilderness.
ALL IllumiNations Cruises are only dispatched from Bayside Marina at the Yacht Club.

Are the pontoon boats handicap accessible?

Standard wheelchairs fit on the pontoon boats without any problems. Just advise your driver when you check in and they can bring the boat closer to the marina.
Electric scooters are somewhat difficult. Some are very wide and will not fit thru the boats door, some are very heavy and there is no ramp to get onto the boat.

Just found out that the Illuminations cruise that I booked for March 9th was not really booked at all. I was given the total cost, time and place to get on the boat, details about food etc., but I was not given a confirmation number. The cruise was never booked,they have no record of my reservation. I made this reservation back in October 2009 and starting calling at 7 am in the morning. At that time there was availability on Tues, Wed & Thurs. I am in such disbelief that this has happened. Needless to say my family is so disappointed. This is our first trip to Disney. Hoping to find someone who has an Illuminations Cruise booked for March 9 or 10, 2010 who would be willing to share with us. I just got a call from WDW informing me that the Breathless II had a mishap and could be out of service for the foreseeable future! Our cruise was booked for 4/30 and they were going to offer us a Wishes cruise instead.

Sorry to hear about that. If they are able to offer an available boat for Wishes, why couldn't they just use that boat to still allow you to view Illuminations instead? :confused3 Seems odd that they wouldn't just be able to substitute a boat for you. :goodvibes

I don't know, except we weren't even going to be on a pontoon boat to begin with. I'm hoping that Breathless II will be back in the water sooner rather than later. While I'm disappointed, since we've never done the fireworks cruise, at least we won't know what we're missing.

And, the trip is a complete surprise for DS11, so since he knew nothing of the cruise he won't be too disappointed.

There is about 3 1/2 miles of road between Seven Seas Lagoon (Wishes) and World Showcase (IllumiNations) and the waterways are not tied together.

Why don't you go on a pontoon instead? We've been on 5 Illuminations cruises over the past 3 years and will definitely be on one in May. I always reserve the cruise and then we share with the nicest DIS-ers - it's a great experience. My family loves watching the fireworks that way. This reminds me, I have to call and get a reservation!

The pontoons are on the Epcot lake, so they can hear the audio in the park. We saw these on our first trip; as well as the ones on the lake outside MK (which you would need to hire the audio pontoons for). This time round, I was determined to do a cruise and have picked the Epcot one - don't have to pay extra :)

You have to give a Credit Card Number to Hold the boat, but it is not charged until the night of your cruise, and you can cancel up to 24 hours in advance at no charge. Some information that has apparently changed from what is listed in the first post here (besides the fact that it is now 180 days ;)) -

When I called the number all I had to do was push #1 - that got me directly to a reservationist. The first time I tried it as it is listed in the post and I got somewhere totally different (something for golf courses).

Also, the price for the basic Illuminations cruise is now $346.13 (with tax). I actually called back because I thought maybe the lady accidentally gave us the celebration package (with decorations) but no, that's just the basic. Just wanted to update the info! :goodvibes

No per person cost - it's just a flat rate for the boat, no matter how many people. You can have up to 10 people. For Illuminations, when I booked I was told the price is now $346.13 (with tax). :goodvibes When people share they usually split this price up amongst however many people they have.

Any food items ordered must be thru Yacht Club Private Dining. You can order a Birthday Cake, and other items like Chips & Salsa, Fruit & Cheese Platter, Chicken Wings and Pizza. I would try to avoid any plated items, since the boat is really not equipped for full fledged dining. Stick with finger items, aside the cake.
Oh, boat comes with Chips (Potato Chips, BBQ Chips, Doretos, Smart Popcorn & Pretzels) and Soda (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite & Water).

I'm trying to get a ride on someone's Wishes cruise for the 14th. If there happens to be a cancellation and I can book one myself do you have any interest in sharing it with us? It's just two of us (mid-40's) but if there is someone else that wants to tag along I would be willing to share. I'd like to do the Premium Wishes cruise (the one that has the music piped in). I just checked my itinerary, and my Illuminations cruise is indeed set for August 19th. We're celebrating our 20th Anniversary! We certainly have room for more. The cost of the cruise is $346.13, and we'll split that evenly per person. A couple of posters have show interest. Go ahead and PM me if interested. We are meeting around 7:30pm at the Yacht Club Dock...

I read the same thing and I actually asked a question on the DIS saying something like..."I know I can't book until 90 days but...." and I got a response that I could book 180 days! I was like 176 days out and I was looking for the special 4th of July fireworks cruise (on the 3rd though). I was on the phone sooo fast when I read that! I was still able to get it though so you should definitely try or look for someone to share with. Good luck! :thumbsup2

you can actually book it in 180 +10 time frame. I had no idea it you could do it in the + 10. I was making my ADR's and just bsing with the lady about how I needed to set my alarm again to get up and call to book it and she told me it could be done as long as it was in the +10 of check in! So I booked 181 days out! Only a day early but I was still very excited.
