We’re back, We’re back (said in the voice of the bride as you exit the Haunted Mansion, you all know exactly what I’m talking about). Well, we have returned from my 7 day/ 6 night adventures at Disney World!! Nobby and I had the best time ever, he’s just the cutest little thing. Oh, wait I might actually have some new readers who are joining us on our little look back at this trip, so I guess it would be quite rude of me to not start by introducing myself and my cast of characters.

Hi!! I’m Jen and I’m a bit of Disney crazy all wrapped into a body of 26 year old science teacher. I’m a nerd and if my introduction didn’t already establish that fact, well keep reading by the end of this trip report you might think I’m the nerdiest person you ever met. Of course, I’ll take that as a compliment. (By the way please ignore my grammar mistakes throughout this, I’m a science teacher and I don’t even know how to begin to diagram a sentence, so bear with me.) My favorite thing about Disney, EVERYTHING!! LOL, actually I’m in love with Goofy and I enjoy me some Haunted Mansion, I could live in that place (oh boy I’m digressing into my PTR…which you can find here: MY PTR (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1968066) ).

This is Prince Phillip (not to be confused with Aurora’s Prince Phillip), my Prince Phillip would not be caught dead at the castle (or so HE says, we’ll see about that). My Prince Phillip is also a teacher and is an avid hunter and fisherman and it’s because of these two passions of his I was going on this trip (we’ll get back to that later). Now Prince Phillip surely did not join me on this trip, he let me go alone, well or so he thought, however he’ll show up often in this trip report so it would be remiss of me to not mention him and show his cute picture off to all of you. (Oh, Paula I can’t find his gnome picture ACK!!)

Speaking of gnomes, this very handsome gentleman did accompany me on this dream trip! Ladies and Gentlemen allow me to introduce you to Nobwick!

Yes, Nobwick (or Nobby as he prefers to be called) is a gnome and this was his very first trip to Disney and he was just as excited about this trip as I was. Nobby is the mascot of a very fine group of ladies, called the Marcettes (you’ll also be hearing a lot more about these ladies too, we all DIS, you probably know a few of them LOL). Nobby will be helping me share our adventures with you, because many of the memories we have belong to him and it would only be fair if I shared them with you. However I will tell you that Nobby was quite a hit and I am sure there will be many people who will remember Nobby the next time they see him at Disney.

Well there you have it, our cast of characters for this trip…along the way there will be special extras who joined in on the magic and I will introduce them in time when they appear. Now shall I begin our little tale…well in that case as all good stories start…Once upon a time…

Chapter 1: Irony at its best

I’m going to begin our story a little differently; I’m going to start with the ending. You see as Nobby and I were leaving the Magic Kingdom yesterday we turned around and waved, and instead of saying goodbye we said “see you real soon”, because yes we will be seeing the castle again real soon. So instead of teasing my fellow readers, I’m going to go ahead and tell you when I’m returning and who I’m returning with. For those of you who appreciate a good ironic moment, fasten your safety belt, because this is going to be good.

Well to begin this tale we must go back to the beginning, so I’m going to have to give you a very brief overview of how I got this trip. You see dear Prince Phillip decided to go hunting and fishing, well normally I would have no problem with this, however he choose to go over my birthday and my Anniversary (yes I have my own anniversary and he has his anniversary, if you are confused please check out the first few chapters of my PTR). Well my birthday is Oct 2nd and my anniversary is Oct 3rd, my husband was going to be in the middle of Wyoming hunting for antelope during those days. Well, to put it bluntly I was not pleased, however I could get mad or get gifts…you can probably guess what I chose! So as part of the major gift extravaganza I got my most magical solo trip to Disney. I immediately started planning and found my way over to the DIS and well life hasn’t been the same. I met some wonderful people who will be forever friends and I’m very thankful for the DIS to have provided that opportunity.

So about a week or so before Nobby and I were set to leave for our trip, I was in chat with the Marcettes and finally it was just me and IluvCrush (Paula). We started talking about future trips and that fact that she had the holy grail of Disney, a pin code. She was looking at dates in the fall and then I don’t remember how or the who’s of it but somehow we we’re discussing going down together around the same time 2xcited2sleep (Christine) would be there. Well Paula, did some fuzzy Disney math and viola the next day in my PM was a number and oh what a magical number it was. But could I really convince Prince Phillip to agree to another trip…he’d already said yes to the great Gnomefest of April 2010, but another trip between now and then with the sole purpose of me going down to the world and we footing part of the bill (ignoring trip with my mom here, she’s paying LOL). Well I don’t really remember how I got him to agree, I think I fed him his favorite dinner and we watched his favorite movie and in the euphoria of all that pampering I said oh btw I’m going with Paula to Disney in the fall (notice I didn’t ask LOL) and he didn’t object…so it was set!! Oh yes that is right I’m going to Disney this fall!! But when exactly, well here’s the irony….Sept 29th – Oct 4th. Oh yes, I’m going to Disney World over my Birthday and my Anniversary. LOL!!!!! It is priceless, seriously, think about it, I got my most magical solo trip because Prince Phillip dared to go hunting and fishing over those precious dates and now I’m leaving those exact dates to be in Disney World. It’s a good thing in our marriage we learned the art of negotiation because the following day the irony didn’t go unnoticed by Princey boy!! So he is now the proud owner of my airline miles and will be going to Alaska with his father to fish at the beginning of August. Our household is calm and peaceful and we’re both happy YAY!!

So yes, there were no goodbyes, only a see you soon…because Nobby and I will be returning (It’s my birthday, I think I can trump the other ladies for possession of Nobby for most of the trip LOL)! However, best of all is I will be there with some of the finest ladies I know, Paula and Christine and I will have the honor of ringing in my 27th birthday with them and if Christine has her way some pretty handsome French waiters!! Well this is where I will end for now…I’ll actually begin my trip report in the next chapter I just wanted to start where I finished LOL!!! Have a great and magical day!

We're working on W2 also...I need to wait for my employer to send ours and then start looking for the banks and other things like that...I usually leave it up to my hubby to get those things together. I am completely in favor of a solo trip for everyone!! I had my moments of oh I'm alone, but a quick text or phone call to my girls and things were just fine!! However nothing is better than doing what you want when you want and just having moments that are all yours!!! I hope you'll be able to go solo at some time!! Chapter 2: Sleep? Who needs sleep, we’re going to Disney!

Nobby and I decided that we wanted to visit Disney in January, for the main reason of lower crowds and cooler temperatures, boy would we be surprised by the lower temperatures LOL! The dates we had decided upon were January 15th –January 21st, a very magical 7 days/ 6 nights. However, the trip really begins on January 14th at 8:30pm, why you must be asking yourself? That is when I used a special coupon from my Entertainment book and I got the best deal ever on my rental car. Not only did I get upgraded to a intermediate (Pontiac Vibe), but I also prepaid for gas (1.69/gallon) and the total when it was all said and done was $192.00 for an entire week WOOT! (Of course it just dawned on me I didn’t take a picture of said car, so here’s a factory picture of my car, imagine it a charcoal color LOL).

As I happily pulled out of the parking garage at the airport to my delight I found out they had given me a car with XM radio, at that moment there couldn’t have been a happier person on this planet. For 7 straight hours I was going to be able to listen to the best of best of Broadway…life was good people oh yes life was good LOL!!!

Well as soon as I got home I loaded up the car with my luggage and let’s be clear on something, I packed way too much! I had a huge suitcase, a duffle bag (big one), a backpack (already packed for my first park day), my binder, my blanket and pillow, my laptop bag, and a small cooler. By this time it was about 9:00pm and it was time to say goodbye to my darling Prince and try to get some sleep. After setting 2 cell phone alarms (yes two phones, I was not taking any chances LOL) I was asleep about 9:20pm! Apparently I was not going to have any trouble sleeping that night!

BEEP, BEEP, vibrate, vibrate is the noise that woke me up approximately 5 hours later. It took me 10 minutes to get dressed and I did a last minute sweep to make sure I hadn’t forgotten anything, even though Prince Phillip had reminded me on more than one occasion that I wasn’t going to the moon and if I needed to I could find a Wal-Mart, which is true I have Wal-Mart radar. I started up my car, said good morning to Stanley (my GPS who has a cute British accent) and made sure both Nobby and I were buckled up and ready to go.

See a picture to prove that yes I practiced safety first and made sure Nobby was always buckled up when we were driving. I also made sure to deactivate the passenger side airbags because I didn’t want Nobby to get hurt by it in case of an accident. So if you did the simple math, then you have figured out by now that Nobby and I hit the road at about 2:30a.m. We were off, well almost, about halfway down my road I had a feeling I might not have locked the front door and since I didn’t want anything to happen to Prince Phillip (who am I kidding the man is a hunter, we won’t go into how many weapons of mass destruction we have at my house) I turned the car around much to the chagrin of Stanley who kept insisting that going the direction I was going was not going to get me to Orlando, and I made sure the front door was locked, it was LOL and then we were off! Of course once again irony would have to play its part in the trip, as I turned on my XM radio to my favorite station “On Broadway” (who doesn’t love that station) what song should be playing?? None other than Julie Andrews singing “My Favorite Things,” oh at this point I knew this was going to be a good trip, the queen Ms. Andrews was giving Nobby and I a great send off.

Well I’m not going to bore you with travel details, let’s just say that it was a long drive and the constant threat of deer kept me alert (I saw them 3 times). Nothing makes your heart beat a little faster and the adrenaline kick in better than driving at 75mph and flying by a herd of deer. Stanley gave me great directions and $3.00 in tolls and 7 hours later at 10:23 am I pulled into the parking lot of Downtown Disney!

So what does a gnome and his companion do when they arrive at Downtown Disney way ahead of schedule (we hadn’t planned on being there until 1pm)…well you’ll just have to wait and see…. (I know I’m evil LOL, I blame Nobby LOL)

Actually I knew I had to stop at DTD to pick up my AP before checking in at POP so I could get the good rate...although now that I think about it I don't think they even checked my AP...LOL

Chapter 3: First Time Visits and I was Right, it was Too Cold to Swim

Well it would seem that if I don’t post an update today I’m going to have some serious explaining to do, so I’ve decided that it is in my and Nobby’s best interest to continue our tale. So join me as I finish off this delicious piece of Main Street Chocolate fudge with nuts and pick up our story where we last left off.

So where exactly did I leave off? DOH I really should go back and read the chapter before I sit down to write more. Oh wait, we were just arriving at the most magical place on Earth and pulling into the parking lot of Downtown Disney. Nobby and I were both grateful for the opportunity to finally get out of the car and stretch our legs. The first thing I noticed was how cold it was outside, okay this wasn’t your typical Jen’s a pansy and wears a jacket in September in Florida cold, oh no this was to my bones I’m going to freeze to death cold. So much for sightseeing, this girl needed to get some warm weather supplies and in a hurry. So I grabbed Nobby and placed him safely in his carrying vehicle (aka my backpack) and stopped only briefly to take a few shots of the entrance to Downtown Disney Marketplace.

Oh yes, this Southern Weather Pansy was in need of a really cool Disney hoodie, said hoodie would then be worn all over the World and make it appear that I hadn’t bother to change my clothes my entire vacation stay. Well, after some careful deliberation (I kid you not, it took me almost 40 minutes to pick out a hoodie LOL), I found the perfect one! Of course I had just come into the store to buy the jacket, however has anyone ever been able to walk into the World of Disney store and just buy the one thing they came in to buy…LOL! So I also purchased a new lanyard to wear to school and attach my name badge to and this marvelous see through pocket. This pocket might be the most glorious Disney merchandise invention ever. You see not only could I put my AP pass into it; I could also fit my fast passes, my KTTW, and my photo pass. The best part, it had the ability to hook to my belt loop and then placed in my pocket making it virtually impossible for me to lose. Oh and even better, I could then just let them scan my Photo pass card through the pocket, never once having to take it out and risk losing it! Oh yes this purchase had pixie dust all over it, it was amazing! I’m never going to Disney again without it.

Well now that I was done making my purchases it was time to do some exploring of Downtown Disney and find my way to the interim Guest Relations offices since there real location was being refurbished. So I asked a very nice CM for some directions and was told I would have to walk all the way to Pleasure Island and I would find the Guest Relations offices there. So now that I was all bundled up I could take photos and just enjoy a nearly empty DTD. Here are some of the shots I took.

Finally I made it over to Guest Relations, received my AP and now I was ready to head to Pop Century and pray that at 11:30 in the morning my room would be ready! Now I have to tell you that Stanley (my GPS) was amazing. I don’t know what I would have done without him on this trip. I never got lost once he was 100% accurate and always got me to my destination safely. After about a 15 minute drive, I arrived at Pop Century.

I once again grabbed Nobby and my backpack and went to check in! This time I decided Nobby didn’t have to stay in his carrying vehicle and I just carried him to the check in desk. Well there was absolutely no line and I walked up and was greeted by a wonderful CM named Janny. She quickly brought up my reservation and then explained to me the Disney Dining plan and gave me a printout of my available credits. She then handed me my KTTW card and a map with my building circled (I was in the 70’s building, RM 6164) and told me my room was ready and I could go make myself at home. I’m pretty sure she was amused when I finally picked up my jaw from the floor, because seriously 11:30 am and my room was ready for me, once again tons of pixie dust was floating down on me!! It was at this time Janny noticed the gentleman standing on her counter, (I really need a soundtrack for my TR when I go into dialogue mode).

Janny: “Does he belong to you?” (I look to whom she’s pointing at)

Me: “Oh, why yes this is Nobby my companion. It’s his first time to Walt Disney World, we’re both really excited.”

Janny: “First visit, uh?” “Well then he should get one of these?”

Janny then reached into some drawer and proudly handed me a 1st Visit pin. That’s right even Nobby was invited to celebrate at Disney. Here’s a picture we took when we got to the room of Nobby with his 1st Visit pin…he proudly displayed his pin on his carrying vehicle throughout his entire stay.

Well Nobby and I decided to unload our luggage (he packs way lighter than me) and freshen up before heading to EPCOT. I ended up really like the location of our room; it was very quiet and had easy access to the parking lot. Here are a few pictures of our room…I will post more of the resort in later chapters.

Well besides a clean room, something else was waiting for us! I heard about these mysterious offers that sometime show up, however I had never seen one. I still don’t really believe pin codes exists (okay that’s not true because I’m going back in October because of one really nice pin code, however I have never seen one in real life LOL) and until this trip I didn’t believe bouncebacks really existed either. However, I was given proof as I walked in and found this sitting on the table waiting for us.

After about an hour, Nobby and I decided we were refreshed enough and it was time to head to EPCOT. Why EPCOT?? Well you see Nobby and I had a special date with some princesses in Norway for dinner and we didn’t want to be late, besides we might get a few rides in. We also wanted to check and see how long the line for the Disney Visa Rewards Character Meet would be and try to do that before our dinner reservations. So I put Nobby back into his carrying vehicle and we headed off, however we had to take one last photo before leaving for EPCOT.

People loved Nobby, I don't remember any weird looks they thought he was great and wanted to know what we were up to!! He really made meals and character greets a lot less awkward for me because they were mesmorized by him.

I totally took a DIS break for about 10 days. I think I was starting to lose touch with reality because I was spending too much time here!!! Plus, I really needed to get some work down around the house ( I redid my upstairs bathroom). Plus, I marched in the inaugural parade last week.

Welcome Home!! Well I hope you had a great time in DC and I'm sure you had to put up with some cold weather of your own LOL!!!!

Congrats on actually getting some things done!! I really need to take an evening this week and focus on unpacking and getting my stuff put away so I can have my room back to normal! That and to make a mental note of where I stored everything for my next trip!!!!

Chapter 4: Magical Character Experiences

Well I promised another update, so I’m munching on another piece of Main Street fudge and listening to the “Golden Dream” from The American Adventure (I don’t know about you, but nothing makes me feel more proud to be an American than that show…whoooo just listening to it brings tears to my eyes and goose bumps up and down my arms). Well, let’s talk about my first evening at EPCOT.

So Nobby and I made our way over to EPCOT, we arrived around 1pm. I was surprised by how close to the entrance we were able to park. I quickly took a picture of the parking sign near where I parked so I could remind myself on the way out how to find my car (this would come in handy many times throughout this trip when I would forget where I parked LOL). I figured that Nobby and I would make our way over to Soarin’ and get fast passes so we could ride this amazing ride after dinner. Well I carefully placed Nobby into his carrying vehicle; you see he didn’t have a ticket so I was going to have to sneak him in. However we were busted, but the EPCOT security guys were the best and let us get in without too much of a fuss. Anyone want to guess what our first stop was??? Well the Photopass photographers of course, I had purchased my Photopass CD before I had left and I knew being solo (well almost, but Nobby was too cold to ever take his hands out of his pockets so he wasn’t going to help with the picture taking LOL) that I would be taking advantage of Disney’s Photopass and boy did I take advantage, about 291 pictures worth! (AN: My photopass CD is due on 01/28 and I promise to update my photos with those as soon as I get them, because there are a couple on there you just have to see LOL). From there Nobby and I hopped over to Soarin’ to get a fast pass! Much to our surprise the return window was 3:05pm to 4:05pm….seriously!! At this point I was beginning to realize that things were not very busy EPCOT! Well after grabbing a fast pass I decided to make good use of my Disney Visa Rewards card and go to the special character meet. Well at this point in the story it becomes about me and a very special moment for me. Nobby will return with his own special moment later in the evening, for now everyone say goodbye to Nobby!

Well after finally figuring out that the meet was INSIDE Innovations West (I must have looked so lost wandering around looking for a line outside LOL). After finding the queue (I was only like 4th family in line) I had a very nice conversation with the people near me and I waited about 20 minutes and then it was finally my turn. As I walked into the room I was greeted by Minnie Mouse, I love her, she is so cute. I remember looking around and seeing a very realistic Goofy statue standing on the opposite wall and thinking wow I so want to get a picture with that statue before I leave. I mean if I can bring a gnome with me, I surely can ask to get a picture with a statue. Well as I went to go greet Minnie and give her a big hug all of sudden I get a tap on the shoulder from behind and I turned around and got the biggest startle. That was no statue, that was Goofy and he scared the bejeezus out of me. I have no idea what the look on my face must have been like, but I think Goofy felt a bit bad for scaring me that he engulfed me in a huge hug (Once again these photos are on the Photopass I don’t have yet LOL)! The photographer of course loved it and once I retrieved my heart from my throat I was greatly amused with Goofy. Well I had a nice chat with Minnie about how her day was going when Goofy grabbed my left hand pointed to my wedding ring and then looked around, obviously looking for my husband. Well I informed Goofy that I was traveling solo this trip and if he would be my date for the evening. Goofy readily agreed (got to love the Goof!!!) and then he grabbed my hand and asked me to dance. I love to dance so Goofy and I started to dance; well Goofy already knew he could surprise me easily so he decided to do it again. We were enjoying our dance together, when all of a sudden he dipped me! I have never in my life had so much fun or been so shocked, Goofy dipped me it was amazing! By this time I was laughing hysterically and truly enjoying this magical moment that was all mine!

Well as we all know all good things must come to an end, however my new magical friend Goofy was quite the gentleman and took me by the arm and so graciously escorted me and gave me a very sweet kiss goodbye. I must tell you all; when I left there I was on cloud 9, in 7th Heaven, completely and utterly mesmerized and high on pixie dust. That was by far the most amazing experience ever and I literally walked out of Innovations and just reflected on that moment with the most “Goofy” smile on my face. Of course like any good woman I had to share this and I immediately called my friend Soleil (yes that is our one and only wonderful BellaSoleil and told her about my magical moment). As you can guess my one free picture that I received as I left EPCOT that evening was of me and my “date” Goofy and is now in a frame on my desk at work to remind me every day of what “magic” really is. So to “Goofy” thank you for making my first moment of my most special and magical trip the bestest ever, I couldn’t have asked for a better welcome!

After I recovered from my euphoric high I headed back to the Land to ride the Living Land! As a science teacher I really enjoy this ride especially the Mickey tomatoes, I really wish they would let take one of those home or at least teach me how to grow them like that. I also really like the rotating spices that are just too cool for words. Here is a picture of said tomatoes…

Well soon we were off to the Living Seas…once again the Zoology teacher in me just had to visit the aquariums however at this point Nobby made his presence known and insisted he wanted to visit with his friends the seagulls. He also is a little troublemaker, our Nobby doesn’t like to follow the rules at Disney. First he comes without a ticket, sheesh, and then he stands behind the guardrails, I’m surprised we didn’t get kicked out of the park with all his stunts.

Then it was off to ride one of my favorites at EPCOT, the golf ball, or as it is really called Spaceship Earth. I haven’t ridden this ride since the renovations were made to it and I must say I really do love this ride even more. Maybe it’s the history, or the smell of Rome burning, or maybe it’s the animatronics, but I love me some Spaceship Earth. I was even more impressed with the ending and how I could pick my own future. Apparently I’m going to be an ultra conservationist who only uses natural products in my house and plants a garden and uses distilled sea water to keep my plants alive. Okay I had to laugh at this because anyone who knows me, knows that I keep plants alive for as about as long as a piece of Main Street Fudge lasts in my refrigerator…in other words not very long. Chapter 5: Princesses, Princesses, and yes Even more Princesses

Wow, I had so much fun writing the last chapter why not continue and write one more update before I go to bed!! So what am I doing right now, well I’m listening to the Boo to You Parade during MNSSHP! That is my new thing to be fascinated with because I will be at that parade, I will be dressed up, and I will enjoy Hallowishes. Because as many of you know I’m a huge Haunted Mansion fan (and they are all over MNSSHP) and even more so do I love me some villains especially Maleficent (who actually shows up in the Haunted Mansion…do you know where??? LOL) Besides, as you know one of my Disney dreams was to ride Haunted Mansion at midnight (and if I can keep your interest for long enough you’ll find out if I actually made that dream a reality) well along those same lines I want to ride Haunted Mansion during MNSSHP (since it will be as close to Halloween as I can get LOL). So right now I’m really enjoying watching YouTube clips about MNSSHP…well I’ve let that hijack enough of this update let’s get back to what you really want to read about LOL!

So Nobby made his wishes known and wanted to go ride Test Track and who was I to tell the gnome no! So off we went, and let me tell you I’m totally sold on the single rider line. Nobby and I walked in…see a picture of Nobby in line (while he broke many other rules, he at least was not a line jumper LOL).

Here are a few other photos of the Test Track Queue, I have to tell you watching them beat up on the dummies like they do always makes me a bit uneasy. I tend to be more on the empathic side and have an aversion to thinks that go “crack” so watching them get their knees pummeled with a hammer makes me wince. During our very brief wait in the single rider line I attempted to text my friend Julez (julezdisney), because she was going to ride along with me, however we missed each other, but don’t worry she and I would enjoy the Animal Kingdom together later in the week. (Okay I guess I should explain, to help pass time in line as Nobby and I waited we would often text message one of our lovely Marcettes who would then keep us company and share in the magic that is Disney.) By this time it was time for Nobby and I to ride Test Track and we loved it…oh yes we did. Of course I was freezing, are you kidding me, 65mph at about 50 degrees, yeah definitely a bit cold. Nobby of course loved it and had no trouble whatsoever with the cold wind. As we exited the ride Nobby insisted he wanted a picture next to one of the machines, what is with guys and machines that destroy things. I can’t even tell you what the purpose of this machine is (of course I could read the sign behind Nobby but why would I do that LOL), although if Nobby had wandered any further back he might have found out first hand. However, here is Nobby and his “manly” picture with a large moving machine (Guys…pppffftttt).

Well at this time it was about 3:30ish and Nobby and I decided we had time for one more ride before we headed to Norway. Since we were at Test Track we headed towards Mission Space.

Now I enjoy this ride because who doesn’t like looking at Gary Sinse (oh wait…nevermind I’m going to stop right there LOL), I mean who doesn’t like becoming an astronaut. Nobby and I argued for awhile over the green or the orange side. Nobby is quite the daredevil and he was all about the G’s however it was almost dinner time and I’m getting old so I told Nobby next time we would go “orange” and he had to settle and go on the “green” side with me. The ride as usual was fantastic and Nobby played the role of “Engineer” perfectly. I had the best sleep of my entire trip during that ride and our landing was not particularly splendid but Nobby made sure the wings were out when they were supposed to…YAY for Nobby! Of course Nobby and I had to send email postcards to Prince Phillip!

After some careful deliberation Nobby decided I should be abducted by aliens, so we made the video and we sent it along. Prince Phillip would let us know the next day that we were obviously having way too much fun on our trip LOL!!

Well as much as Nobby would have enjoyed playing more of the games in the Mission Space area, I knew we had to make it over to our ADR, so it was time to go. Nobby and I really enjoyed our walk over to the World Showcase. It was a great time to just enjoy the view across the lagoon.

Nobby also wanted his picture taken by the lagoon and once again I can’t say no to his cute little face, although I would have preferred taking his picture on the ground where it was safe. However, because I insisted on the “green” side of Mission Space Nobby was not all about being “safe.” Instead he climbed up on the railing (see what I mean about breaking rules, I’m pretty sure this is not allowed) to pose for me.

I soon realized that if Nobby had his way he would have me stop every few feet to take his picture and well we just didn’t have time for that so I convinced Nobby it would be best if he took a short nap before meeting the princesses (we didn’t want Grumpy instead of Nobby showing up for dinner). So I placed Nobby back into his carrying vehicle and headed for Norway, little did I know it would be who would be making the next stop. You see on this trip I had already decided if time allowed if I saw a character I would get in line and take a picture. Why? Because every other trip I went on NO ONE in my party was interested in meeting characters and by golly on my magical solo trip I was going to meet characters. Well you want to guess who was out in Mexico??

Yup I got to meet Fiesta Donald!! He was quite the charmer also; I can’t even begin to tell you how many kisses I got on this trip, Prince Phillip would have been jealous!

Okay now it was seriously time to stop dawdling and make my way over to Norway and my dinner reservation. I had made this reservation for the earliest possible time of 4:25pm; you see this would be my first meal of the day. I know, I know, I had been up since 2am and I haven’t eaten yet…well nothing of substance, I think at 4am I had a cereal bar. I knew that traveling I wasn’t going to stop and eat and while I was tempted to eat at TREX (and Soleil almost had me talked into going LOL) but I really wanted to get to EPCOT and ride some rides. That being said I made a very early dinner reservation for me and Nobby that evening. Apparently gnomes don’t have to eat a lot because Nobby didn’t complain once about being hungry LOL!

Chapter 5 Con't:

Nobby and I arrived for dinner at 4:15pm, 10 minutes before our 4:25pm reservation at Akershus, the Royal Banquet Hall.

We checked in and were told we would need to wait a few minutes, turned out to be about 10 minutes and then we were royally invited to enter the banquet hall. Our first stop was to meet our hostess, Princess Belle. I love Beauty and the Beast so I was especially excited to meet Belle. She was very gracious and welcoming.

After the pictures, Nobby and I were seated at a cozy table for two.

I would find out that we were in a prime location, our table was the fourth stop for the princesses and near the buffet. Our waitress for the evening was Nina and she was amazing and very attentive. She sat down and talked with me and Nobby for a few minutes and explained how the buffet worked and gladly offered to help me take pictures. At this time, Nina’s brother, came out and said hi! He worked in the kitchen. I made sure to ask them what they recommended on the menu for someone who did not like seafood. Her brother suggested the pasta dish, so that is what I choose for the evening, Grilled Vegetable-stuffed Pasta with mushrooms and carmelized onion cream. Nina then suggested that I head up to the buffet and get a few things from there before the princesses would arrive and they would get my dinner ordered placed for me.

I really enjoyed the cold buffet, I got a plate for me and Nobby to share.

We had the Apple and Beet Salad, Salad with Disney Vinagrette, a chicken salad, and a little bit of pasta salad. It was all fantastic!! Nobby and I didn’t have to wait too long for our main course to arrive.

Once again a superb choice by our host and hostess! The pasta had a great filling inside and the sauce was amazing, not too much onion flavor, just amazingly good.

It was during this time that I asked what Princesses would be stopping by to say hi this evening. I told Nina that Nobby had a very favorite princess he wanted to meet. She then asked Nobby which princess was his favorite, and of course Nobby choose to be shy at this time so I had to tell Nina that Nobby really wanted to meet Snow White. Well, Nina informed us that Snow White was not going to be joining us this evening, however we might be able to find her in Germany later on. Nobby was extremely bummed by this news, but I promised right after dinner we would head to Germany and try to find her, he seemed to perk up a bit after that.

Then the princesses arrived…first was Princess Aurora, my favorite princess.

So why is Aurora my favorite, well because she has a Prince Phillip just like me! We have so much in common!!Now I’m not much of a crier, unless something terrible has happened or I’m extremely moved. However in that moment meeting my favorite princess and being able to tell her about my Prince Phillip really moved me and at that moment I really missed my Prince. Aurora completely understood and gave me a hug and said she missed her Prince Phillip too and wanted me to make sure I told my Prince Phillip she said hello when I talked to him next. That was a really sweet and special moment for me.

Next was Jasmine, and I must say she is completely gorgeous!

There was a family next to me with two little ones and their little girl was dressed like Jasmine and I loved watching them interact. It made me wish for the day I bring my child to Disney and they meet their favorite character of all time. To me that is what Disney is all about those special moments when your eyes or your children’s eyes light up and the magic is so real you can just reach out and touch it. That was what watching that moment with that little girl and Jasmine was like.

Ariel, in her beautiful blue dress stopped by next.

Ariel insisted that we pose as the real princesses that we are! She was a lot of fun to meet and talk to.

Last but definitely not least, Cinderella made her grand appearance

I enjoyed seeing Cinderella, although I got the impression that it was a bit awkward for her meeting a solo adult. However, at this point I was in the midst of a Disney High and dessert was waiting for me so I didn’t mind. We said hello and she went on her way to meet her other guests.
Speaking of dessert, holy moly, how in the world was I suppose to eat all of that on my own (Nobby was really full and wanted no part of dessert).

I got a sample, a pretty big sample of three different desserts. On your left is a rice cream with a strawberry sauce, in the middle was a Flourless Chocolate cake, and to the right was the famous school bread. So which one was my favorite? The school bread was really good, but the dessert I loved was the rice cream…it was smooth and creamy and all around just amazingly delicious. I ate all of the rice cream, most of the school bread, and only had about a bite of the chocolate cake.

Overall Nobby and I had a great dinner and would return again another time. We think my mom would really like this restaurant. Nobby and I both decided we had eaten way too much and that we needed to walk off some of the calories we had just ingested. Nobby insisted that we head straight to Germany so we could find his favorite princess and who was I to argue with him. I just got to meet my favorite princess and I had a very magical moment with Goofy, it was definitely Nobby’s turn.

So does Nobby ever get to meet his favorite princess? Well…its bedtime …so I guess you’ll have to find out next time. Sweet dreams everyone.

I think I listened to almost all of the "oldies" but "goodies" last night on YouTube and I loved the American Adventure and I really enjoyed the Carousel of Progress again...I really love that song too!

Awww thank you!!! Sometimes I feel like I'm talking too much and then I say NAH writing this is as much for me and it is for you guys so I just keep typing and typing and realize that I'm going to be only at the end of day one by Chapter 6 LOL and that was only a half day at the Parks LOL!!!!!

Yeah I updated twice yesterday, I really hope no one gets used to that LOL!! I think I was just uber excited and went a little trip report happy! And yet I'm still not done with day 1 LOL!!!! The food was delicious there I could really go for that pasta dish again and I would definitely go back.

Oh yes and later on the evening he gets to be even more of a devil LOL!!

Chapter 6: Magical Moments mixed with a "Blonde" Moment

I figure its time for an update, so you guys ready for more of Nobby and Jen’s Disney World Adventures LOL!! Nobby (the luckiest gnome ever) is currently on his way to visit a good friend of ours, Leslie (you may know her as the most wonderful LL, lover of all things Mary Poppins). I’m sure she will let us know that Nobby has arrived to his destination safe and sound. Nobby was not impressed that he was being sent via the post office and he made his displeasure known so I caved (man it’s going to be awful when I have small children) and splurged and sent him via UPS. Nobby still didn’t understand why he wasn’t flying first class with those extra airline miles of mine he kept hearing so much about, but after explaining to him the Pack and Ship guarantee of UPS Nobby decided that he really wants to see Disney on Ice so this time he would be okay with the box. However, LL I’m thinking you might have to splurge on first class or we might have a rebellious gnome on our hands.

Well guess what was waiting for me on my doorstep when I arrived home from church last night. Can you guess? (Dramatic Pause inserted for affect) Well if you guessed a note from the water company informing me that the leak in the water meter box is on my side you would be correct LOL!!! Well besides that bit of bad news, my photo pass CD was also waiting for me and I have a few photos to show you from last update because you just have to see these.

This photo was taken right after Goofy scared the daylights out of me!! What I love about this picture is the look on my face. Prince Phillip says if pure happiness had a look it would be in that picture!! I was having the time of my life and so excited to see Goofy.

I have decided I’m getting this photo framed too!! I had no idea that Goofy was going to dip me and the look on my face proves it!! Another magical moment courtesy of the great folks at Disney…THANK YOU!

Anyways, once again I’m rambling…surprise surprise I do that a lot by the way LOL, last time we were just leaving Norway and a certain “bossy” gnome insisted we head to Germany. I don’t remember at all if we even stopped in China, I want to say no because I seriously have no photos and no memories of what China looks like at sunset. Yes, by this time it was around 5:30ish and the sun was setting in the beautiful western sky of Orlando. Of course this meant it was getting a bit colder and I wanted to find me a pair of gloves, but if I didn’t find this gnome his Snow White or at least find someone to ask about Snow White he was going to mutiny on me or runaway, neither option sounded particularly exciting to either of us, so it was off to Germany. It was still light enough so I did take a few photos of Germany.

(Please notice the light fixture picture and how gorgeous of a photo it turned out, if I might say so. I made it my mission to take a picture of a light fixture everywhere I went for my friend LL to tie her over until she would be able to see the light fixtures herself and I just love this picture.)

After my brief photo shoot, I did make my way into the Germany toy store and asked a very nice gentleman if he knew where I might find Snow White. He grabbed a little booklet and informed me that I might find Snow White outside of Germany in about 5-10 minutes. Well of course Nobby and I were okay with that, being the wise one (note this for later people) I asked the gentleman (I really wish I remembered his name) where exactly I could find Snow White. He told me as I leave the pavilion make a right turn and I will find Snow White immediately to my right towards the back (okay remember this also, because it will come in play in a bit). Well I decided to follow said directions and I took Nobby and I over to the mini trains and wait over there to watch for Snow White coming out. Nobby really enjoyed the watching the trains and at one point he tried to climb the rails to ride the trains, fortunately I grabbed him before he could perform any of his dastardly deeds.

Well, after 5 minutes I realized Snow White was not making a timely appearance so I called Soleil up to chat with her for a few minutes. I told her all about my dinner with the Princesses and I told her about how Nobby and I were dead set on meeting Snow White. However, I was getting a bit nervous because a good ten minutes had passed and no Snow White at all. I’m sure Soleil could tell I was getting a bit antsy, but I was on a mission!! Soleil tried to help me find her and I mentioned to her that I had followed the directions the kind gentleman in the toy shop had given me. He said to turn right out of Germany and I wouldn’t be able to miss the photo spot and unless Snow White was hiding out in the restrooms near the mini- trains there is no way I had missed her (Any of you wiser than I people caught on yet??) Finally the light bulb went off in my head, I’m not quite sure how I worded it to Soleil, but it went along the lines of, “Oh my goodness, I turned LEFT out of Germany not right, I’ve been waiting on the wrong side this whole time.” I’m sure Soleil got a good laugh out of my directionally challengedness, because I sure did. Here I was panicking over where Snow White was and it was because I don’t know my left from my right…priceless. Can anyone say “blonde” moment? Well after I finally turned the “right” way out of Germany, who was waiting there for us…Snow White!! Of course she was and she most likely had been out there the entire 15 minutes I was staring at mini-train sets and talking to Soleil LOL!!! Nobby let my blonde moment go because he was about to meet his most favorite Princess of all time. We got into a pretty short line (thank goodness Nobby was bouncing all over the place; he needed to meet his princess). Finally it was our turn, now my moment with Goofy rivals Nobby’s meeting of Snow White. Snow White barely even saw I was there all eyes were on Nobby and he was in his own piece of heaven. Snow White made her introduction and once again stunned by her beauty Nobby was a bit tongue tied so I helped him out with his introduction and helped explain to Snow White how much Nobby really admired her and wanted to meet her. Snow White, than being so very gracious, took Nobby from me and had her own special moment with him.

Suffice to say Nobby was one very happy gnome! He would later insist that this was his favorite moment of the entire trip and who could blame him. Two fantastically magical moments wrapped up in one afternoon/evening at EPCOT. Well our night wouldn’t end there, Nobby and I were way too hyped up on pixie dust to just call it night, we had some exploring of World Showcase to do and would we ever make it to Soarin’….well I guess you’ll just have come back and see…until then TaTa…and yes I’m still not done with day 1…this is getting a bit ridiculous LOL!!

Actually I did have a journal and when Nobby and I stopped for meals we would write down notes so we would remember what we rode and what we saw. I also took over 2000 pictures so I pretty much have our entire trip on film LOL!!! (reminds me I need to order my pics from Creative Memories LOL)

Norway was one of my favorite meals I really really enjoyed it and the character interactions LOL!!

I couldn't believe some of the photos that were caught by the Photopass people they did an amazing job and I'm totally sold I will always pre-order my photopass before a trip! I'm going to do it again for the Sept/Oct trip!!

First of all I must apologize to you all for the delay!! I never intended on making you wait this long, so please accept my humble apology! Secondly, this is the second time I have started this update, I had almost half of the update written at work during my lunch hour today and I saved it to my flash drive before leaving work, any guesses as to wear that flash drive is right now…that’s right still in the computer…YAY! So I’m going to try to rewrite this chapter because I really want to get this out to you all this evening!!
As many of you know Nobby has made it safely to LL’s house and apparently is having a wicked good time up there. LL, keep your eye on him and lock up that liquor cabinet LOL!!! Crazy Devil that Nobby is, either way I know he is in really good hands and I’m excited for him and his adventures with the rest of the Marcettes!

Well the last time I left you Nobby just finished having his most magical moment with Snow White. Nobby did not want to leave her, he didn’t understand the whole there are people behind us that deserve a turn. He tried to convince me to leave him with Snow White, but I wasn’t about to have any of that, I’m too protective of my gnome and I was not going to just hand him over to a stranger, princess or not!! Nobby didn’t like that one bit and was about to throw a terror of a fit when I made a promise to him. I reminded Nobby that he would be coming back very soon and that I would make sure to tell each of the Marcettes that Nobby must meet Snow White on each trip. (So ummm…ladies…you hear that find the gnome Snow White ASAP LOL…capiche??) Nobby felt that was an okay solution and calmed down.

Nobby and I then backtracked a bit. We decided we should see if we could ride the Maelstrom without a lot of wait. Lucky us, the wait was non-existent and we rode amongst the trolls. The ride was fun as usual; of course I always enjoy the polar bears. They are one of my favorite animals so I love that scene. We exited the boat and quickly walked through the movie, I have seen that once and that was pretty much enough for me. Once again we were lucky in that the movie hadn’t started yet. Next we decided to explore the gift shop and found this guy…

Wow…gnomes are definitely cuter than trolls in my book!!! I did let Nobby give it a quick kiss for good luck unfortunately its not easy to help an 8 inch gnome kiss a gigantic troll and take a picture at the same time.
Soon we were on our way to the other side of World Showcase. I being the good friend that I am realized that Nobby was probably getting a bit cranky and getting tired, he had been up since 2am so I suggested that he take a nap in his carrying vehicle. He readily agreed as long as I promised not to jostle him around…geez what a picky gnome. Fine, I agreed to keep the jostling to a minimum and Nobby took a nap while I explored the rest of EPCOT at night.

Isn’t that just a gorgeous picture! I just love exploring the parks at night! There is a special magic about the parks in the dark that I just enjoy! I took a few moments to enjoy the view across the lagoon before heading out to explore the different pavilions. It was a nice relaxing moment for me, I was really here at Disney on my magical trip and so far it had been everything I had imagined and so much more!

Then it was time to continue exploring the pavilions. I wasn’t really in the mood to do any more rides or shows I just wanted to enjoy EPCOT in all its beauty and be out of there before Illuminations. Illuminations was on my to do list but not my first night. I then walked over to the American pavilion. I have to say that I love the look of this pavilion. Doesn’t that building just look gorgeous at night?

I stopped for a few moments to talk to the wonderful CMs there about the show and just ask about the pavilion itself. They informed another show would be starting in about 30 minutes and I was welcome to explore. However, I was tired and it was getting a little too cold outside so I decided to keep on moving.

Once again I took a lovely light fixture for LL!! (hehehehee…that’s like a tongue twister…okay I really do need to get to bed LOL). I just had to peak into Les Chefs because I was going to be eating there on Saturday and I was very excited about that lunch. I had never been to the patisserie before so I headed towards the back and got into line. I was excited I got to practice a bit of my French with them and ordered an apple turnover that I would save for breakfast the next morning (don’t ask I ate it before I could get a picture, I was terrible about that with my snack credits OY). Now that I had breakfast taken care of for the morning I headed to Great Britain. Off Kilter was playing so I stopped to listen to them for awhile, they are quite good, but once again exhaustion was taking its toll and I was starting to realize my wonderful night at EPCOT was drawing to a close.

Here is a lovely photo I took in Canada. This is a replica of Le Chateau Frontenac in Quebec. I had the privilege of visiting the real thing this past summer and it is a very gorgeous building especially at night.

At this point in the night I said goodnight to World Showcase and ended back to Future World. I decided it would be fun to take a picture of the wait time sign…I have no idea why I think I was delirious from exhaustion and way to camera happy.

However stopping here reminded me…OH…I still have my Soarin’ fast pass. Well the time window had definitely passed however they aren’t picky about that at Disney. So I woke up Nobby and asked if he wanted to ride, of course he did. So it was time for Nobby and I to ride Soarin’!!!

The fast pass line was extremely fast although we did have a bit of a wait at the boarding gate. However, Nobby and I were in line next to a CM who works at Soarin’ but was visiting the park on her day off. So we struck up a conversation. I wouldn’t realize it at the time, but she had arranged for us and the family behind us to get front row middle seats. She and I had a great time conversing with the family behind her and I loved hearing all the tips she had for us. She made sure to tell the little boys where they could find the hidden Mickey’s during the show. I knew about the golf ball one; however I had never seen the one in the rocks during the skiing scene. Nobby and I really enjoyed being able to find that one together. I have to tell you we had the best seats in the house. There were no feet dangling, were high up, and smack dab in the middle of the screen. It was the perfect ride on Soarin’!! Nobby and I thanked the CM next to us for helping us to secure a great ride and then we decided it was time to head back to our resort.

On the way out I remembered that I had to get my free 5x7 so I stopped in the camera store and a lovely lady (I really wish I would have remembered to take down the names of the CMs I talked to, I did a great job with my waiters, oh well next time that is my goal to remember all the CMs I interacted with) who helped me design my great photo. I chose the one of me and Goofy hugging and I decorated it with Goofy’s signature.

With the picture in hand Nobby and I headed towards the parking lot but not before I noticed there was absolutely no line for Spaceship Earth. Could I pass it up, I was exhausted, but Spaceship Earth was calling my name so Nobby and I walked right on. I really do love me some Spaceship Earth, it has to be my favorite ride at EPCOT. Once again I did my future and this time I made sure I inputted different choices and it was a great time had by all involved. As soon as I got off the ride it was about 8:00ish and I knew it was time to head to Pop Century. I headed towards the gate and once again got distracted LOL (Phillip likes to refer to me as a raccoon who’s easily distracted by shiny objects) well this time it was a Photo pass photographer, so I took my final photo of the night in front of my favorite ride.

Now I really did leave. Once again after making sure Nobby was safely seat belted in I headed to Pop Century. Well the surprises of the evening weren’t over yet, because as I walked in this was waiting on the table to greet me.

What was this…a special gift, but who could have sent me a gift?? Well two very special people BellaSoleil and LL had surprised me with my own princess package. Inside was a beautiful tiara which I was told I had to wear and have photo proof of me wearing it. There was a very pretty Disney princess autograph book which would come in handy and a very cute Belle pin. I have to say I was greatly amused because during our conversation when I couldn't find Snow White, Soleil and I had discussed the fact that I didn't have an autograph book and I needed to remedy that, I can only imagine the look on her face when I said that and she knowing she had already taken care of that for me. I was flabbergasted, the gift was amazing!! I have already thanked both of them, but once again I feel the need to tell those two ladies THANK YOU so much for helping me have a perfect ending to the perfect first day at Disney. If I didn’t feel like a princess before I surely did then and I have you two to thank for it!! You are the best!

Finally it was bed time. I tucked Nobby in and gave him a good night kiss and then it was lights out and off to dreamland for the both of us.

And that my friends, is the end of Nobby and I’s First day at Disney!! So do I really wear a tiara around the parks and are their photos to prove it? Does day two have as much pixie dust as day one? Will they really let me be the volunteer to be the 1000th haunt at Disney? These questions will be answered in our next update! Until then sweet Disney dreams!!!!

I have to agree, EPOCT at night was just stunning!! I really did enjoy riding Spaceship Earth again it is also one of my faves and to say I did it at night is just something else to cross off my Disney to do list!!! However I was glad to get to bed too...I slept very well that night LOL!

Poor Nobby has to leave his beloved Snow White. Epcot is so very pretty at night. Looking forward to seeing you in your beautiful tiara. Nobby looks very comfy in his bed.

Bah...there were some days he was so obnoxious he had to have a time out...besides he wouldn't cooperate at times for poses...so I'm sure my next meeting with Nobby will be much better planned photo wise even I'm making a list LOL!!

It was very devastating for him to leave her...however I think I negotiated a good deal for him as long as the rest of the Marcettes follow through. LOL!!

Nobby really enjoyed having his own bed it worked out quite well for us LOL!!!

I have to totally agree...Disney at Night...there is just something about it!! It is gorgeous and breathtaking and I just enjoy my time there!!

I guess we'll have to wait and find out if Jen wore the Tiara or not LOL!!
