One Trip Postponed, One Trip Planned

Well this is not an update, so consider this a commercial break until the next update LOL!!

When Phillip and I were discussing budgets for this year and discussing the Disney trip it came up about me purchasing a Seasonal Annual pass. The reasoning behind this was the fact that I would most likely be returning a few more times this year. At the time we knew about my mom and daughter trip in December and we had discussed a few other dates that I might be able to take a quick trip to the World. You see Phillip and I both realized that I would have to take advantage of living in Florida and this close to Disney because we knew that we would be moving to Austin, TX the summer of 2010.

Of course you all know about Paula, Christine, and my trip in the fall. I won’t go into all those details again, but I can’t tell you how excited I am! We’re going to MNSSHP, Paula is going to show us cookoo clocks, C is going to drink with cute French waiters, and trouble will be had I’m sure. Then of course was my mom and I’s trip in December, we were going to celebrate her remission from cancer and finally be able to spend a holiday together. I was very excited because my mom loves Disney as much as me and well she is my bestest friend. Well yesterday we had to postpone (I’m not going to use the word cancel) that trip. You see my mom was given the opportunity to finally have a surgery that will help relieve some of the pain caused by the tumor. She had non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and the tumor was wrapped around her lower spine. She has not been able to feel her left foot and has had extreme pain in her left leg for over a year now. However, because of the blood thinners she is just now getting off the surgery will have to wait until Late Autumn and her recovery period is smack dab in the middle of our trip. Well my mom is stubborn and refuses to let me push her around Disney…she insists the next time she goes it will be on her own two feet and hopefully relatively pain free.

However, I said one trip postponed and one trip planned. Well as most of my adventures as of late have started, it began in a chat room LOL! LL and I were discussing her trip and I mentioned to her I had never been to Le Cellier she then invited me to come join her. Of course we were just kidding, I mean there was no way. Then LL asked the Million Dollar Question, “Are you sure you couldn’t drive down?” It then dawned on me that LL was going over Memorial Day weekend…I mean I could drive down and see her for a couple of days, but there was no way I would ever convince Prince Phillip of that. So I told LL I would at least discuss it with Phillip and would let her know…but we both agreed it would be a great time if I could join her, so we mocked planned like I was coming. Well if you know me and you know LL you could imagine the ADRs we came up with LOL! So now I had the job to talk to Prince Phillip and see what his thoughts were…I knew the answer I mean there was no way…so I bit the bullet and asked and he then looked at me, and was like what do I care remember honey I’m going to be gone that weekend for a class in North Carolina…if you want to go for the weekend then go. WHAT??? Who abducted my husband, who was this man, no grief, no negotiations, no budget, oh wait…..he then wrote a number on a piece of paper and handed it to me…only if you can make it happen for less than this amount. My husband knows our finances and knows about my trips so he knew what we could handle. Well I discussed it with LL and there you have it…a trip was made…I’m going to just join her at the beginning of her trip for a few days. I’m going to let her give you all the details (there is no way I can keep up with this TR, write another PTR/TR and be in charge of the PTR and TR for the fall, so this is all on LL)…I’m just there for the ride!

So there you have it! One trip postponed another trip planned!

Hope you enjoyed this brief interlude, I promise an update soon!!!

Hurrah! I'm so glad it all worked out. And really looking forward to hearing about the combined adventures of Jen, LL and Nobby. I'm thinking some wacky hijinks could ensue... as long as you write about them and take lots of pictures we'll all be happy. Can't wait to hear about these ADR musings.

Oh and please know it did not escape my attention that you did not commit to a date for your next "regular" TR update... :rolleyes1: Just kidding. We'll be here when you're ready. Really enjoying your report!

Chapter 8: Breakfast with Mickey and the Crew

Day 2: Early Morning

It’s Saturday, another week has gone by!! I hope you all had a good week or at least a good ending to your week. Last night I headed out to go make Valentine’s Day cards and today I have a baby shower so I needed to make sure I got this update up for you guys. I hope C will forgive me being a few hours late on my promise to have this up by Friday at midnight LOL!! I didn’t get home as early as I hoped from making my cards, but it is up bright and early Saturday morning. So let’s begin Day 2 of Nobby and I’s special Disney adventures.

Sweet dreams and a good night’s sleep were exactly what Nobby and I needed and that is exactly what we got. The next morning we had a very early wake-up call because we had a very important date with Mickey Mouse. If you read my PTR you know that I decided to do quite a few character meals. I had two reasons for this, 1) in all my trips to Disney prior to this I had only meant a grand total of 4 characters and that just wasn’t going to cut it this trip and 2) I wanted to avoid long lines for character greets if possible, if I had already met the character and I didn’t want to say hi again I didn’t have to if the wait for them was a gazillion hours long. So we did a couple of early character breakfast meals, you see Nobby and I are both morning people, we both really enjoyed getting up taking our time to get ready and still have time to be at the park’s before opening. We are definitely rope drop people Nobby and I!!! So after a shower and getting ready, Nobby and I called for a cab! Wait a minute…did you say a cab?? Don’t you have a rental car with you…why yes I do, however the logistics of this day were going to be the end of me so I decided it would just be easier to take a cab to the Contemporary. Trying to figure out how I was going to park at the TTC, get on a monorail, and get to the Contemporary by 7:10 in the morning was giving me a headache. So I called a taxi LOL!! The taxi driver was very courteous and in no time we were checking in at Chef Mickey’s. Check-In was fairly stress free; I received my buzzer and was told I could have my picture taken which I did with my own camera. The very nice CM photographer told me not to bother with their photo it wouldn’t be worth it for one person LOL!

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0379-1.jpg

Our wait to get a seat took only about five minutes. At this point the restaurant was fairly empty, of course it wouldn’t stay this way.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0381.jpg

Nobby immediately wanted to have a cup of coffee.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0382.jpg

However, I may enjoy an early morning but a gnome hyped up on caffeine before 8 am was not in my plans so I ordered Nobby a glass of orange juice instead and promised him we would share a soda later on in the day. Thank goodness this gnome is a compromiser or we would have had a lot of issues LOL! Our server was Jonathan and he more than happily explained how the buffet would work, what characters would come, and agreed to help Nobby and I out with pictures when the characters came out. Then he told me I could go help myself to the food. I love breakfast food and I had heard some great things about this buffet and I was really looking forward to the breakfast pizza and the potatoes.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0385.jpg

So I grabbed some bacon, breakfast potatoes, three cheese omelet, a slice of breakfast pizza, tater tots, and of course a Mickey Waffle. The food was warm, fresh, and really really good. My favorite item was the breakfast pizza; Nobby really enjoyed the tater tots LOL! At this time the characters began to arrive, Nobby and I were both very excited.

First was Goofy

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0387.jpg

Along came Mickey, now Mickey was a hoot!! Mickey immediately noticed I was wearing a shirt with him on it and wanted a closer look at it! I explained to Mickey that a friend had made it for me and that it was of two of my favorite things him and the Haunted Mansion. I told Mickey he and I were going to go ride the ride together many times today. He acted frightened but I told him the ghosts were all friendly and that I would protect him. He then gave me a great big hug!! It was awesome!! Paula’s design totally got a shout out by the “Big Cheese” himself LOL!

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0390.jpg

Next came Donald, he was funny! He got upset because I had Mickey on my shirt and not him LOL!!! To smooth things over I asked him how Daisy was this morning and he told me she was still sleeping. Apparently Daisy is not a morning duck LOL!!!

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0394.jpg

(Side Note: Yes I’m wearing layers, it was so cold that morning BRRRRRRRR)

Then Minnie came along. She is such a gorgeous mouse! She and I discussed Mickey and the weather…she was a bit cold too. I don’t blame her that dress has no protection against the wind at all.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0401-1.jpg

At this point it was time for the famous twirling napkin dance. So everyone grabbed their napkins, well not everyone I actually grabbed my camera, but Nobby totally represented our table with a twirling napkin. And we watched as the kids and the characters twirled, twirled, and twirled some more

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0398-1.jpg

After napkin twirling I decided to get another plate of food, however this time I wanted to go for lighter fare. I didn’t want to stuff me and Nobby silly because we had a very special date for a late lunch with a famous Hollywood restaurant at DHS. So I just grabbed us some fruit and a hardboiled egg.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0384.jpg

We were only waiting for one more character to come by, Mickey’s faithful friend, Pluto. Pluto was a hoot he danced with me and really enjoyed it when I scratched behind his ears. He was a very sweet fellow.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0403-1.jpg

Then breakfast was done. Nobby and I were both full on good food and merry with excitement from the characters. Chef Mickey’s was a wonderful experience for the both of us. We quickly settled our bill and decided to head to the Magic Kingdom. It was about 8:15ish and that would get us to the park with enough time to find a great spot for the opening show and time to make our plans for what attractions we wanted to make sure we rode first thing in the morning. So how would we be getting to the Magic Kingdom well by monorail of course LOL!!! Nobby was beyond thrilled, see if he can get all kinds of excited about riding the monorail for the first time, it was a good thing I didn’t give him that coffee. He was already all jittery about riding this amazing transportation tool LOL!!!

So does Nobby really enjoy his first Monorail ride? IS there heat in these things? Does the monorail really have its own smell? Is it possible to take a good photo from a moving vehicle?? Well you guessed it, find out next time LOL!!!! Have a great and happy Saturday from me and Nobby!!!

A Saturday morning update! Hurray! I am a morning person, too, Jen -- must be the early hours we have to keep during the school year.

That breakfast pizza looks amazing -- I wish I could have some right now.

Cool character interactions -- I love that Mickey acted scared about riding Haunted Mansion and that Donald was put out by your shirt.

Your shirt turned out really cute!! You look adorable. I have to make a mental note not to give Nobby any coffee. :rotfl2:

Yippee an update. No worries on the timing. I was asleep WELL before midnight!

No caffeine for Nobby in the am. Yikes- so many rules with this gnome!

Your Paula DISign shirt looks great!!! How special that Mickey himself noticed it.

I don't like breakfast food but even I am thinking that the breakfast pizza looks yummy. :thumbsup2

Quick question on the character meal solo- did you have to ask your server to take the pics or did he volunteer?

I am looking forward to hearing about Brown Derby. How I wish I was dining there today.

YAY C wasn't upset with me!!!!!!

I know I should make a list of Gnome Rules...oh wait...I'm so going to do that and then send them to Paula who obviously has nothing better to do than make me Designs LOL I so owe that woman a good gift for her hard work LOL

Ummm most of my servers often volunteered but because I'm OCD I always asked and none of them ever seemed put out. However often more than not people near by would offer to take the pic when the server was away and busy! I got to meet a lot of cool people that way and then I would offer to take whole family pictures for them, it always worked out very nicely!

I'm here and loving the TR! Yay! I read your PTR and I've been reading LL's PTR too! You guys will have such a wonderful weekend together with Nobby!

Not to be a downer, but make sure you reschedule that trip with your Mom! My mom was too sick to join us last year and then she passed in Aug. Fortunatly, my parents took us to WDW just about every year so I have many fond memories! I pray your Mom has a speedy recovery and is healthy enough for WDW soon!

Anyway, can't wait to read more. I have a feeling this is going to be a looooong TR....7 installments, all of the first day!! How fun!:rotfl:

I can't believe I missed getting to read your update yesterday. Oh well it was nice to see it this morning... I'm just a little late I suppose. We were on a mission to find a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse backpack yesterday... and failed :sad2: . But we found one on ebay today:cheer2: . My oldest DS starts preschool Tuesday. :)

Chef Mickey's looks like so much fun, that one is on our list for sure. I have also heard good things about breakfast, but was hoping to only do dinner ADR's. Can't wait to see how Nobby's first ride on the monorail was. Seems like he was behaving this day. ;) at least so far.

Happy Tuesday!! I hope you had a great Monday!! Well going along with tradition I’m going to start this chapter off with a random and no way connected thought. ENJOY!! Speaking of Mondays I had a great one…Prince Phillip and I are not ones to follow the norm. I mean we have two anniversaries, we do themed Christmases, I have a bear on my living room wall, and well you get the picture. So it should be no surprise to any of you that we decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day, yesterday! First of all if you think you are going to get me to a restaurant on the Saturday of Valentine’s Day you are crazy, besides the restaurant we love and adore is always so much nicer when it’s at sunset and relatively empty. Well, let me take that back Valentine’s started Sunday night when my Princy gave me my gift. This year he went with chocolate, I know shocker, however it has been a long time since I got chocolate as a gift. My dad for awhile worked as a freezer manager for Russell Stover and well you can imagine the truckload of loot we got around special holidays, so chocolate wasn’t considered a special gift to me. Well Prince Phillip did himself well because he got me some of the best tasting chocolate ever, did you know they make a crème brulee chocolate…and it’s amazing…simply amazing. Okay so dinner oh was dinner fabulous! We went to a small Italian restaurant in our historical downtown district and we enjoyed ourselves. The bruschetta was by far the best I have ever tasted and my Alfredo was amazing. Phillip got the lasagna and it was also divine. What we like the most about this place is that everything is made to order. They don’t have pots of sauce waiting on the stove, they make your sauce from scratch, and everything was delicious. For dessert, we both got the white chocolate bread pudding with a caramel and dark chocolate sauce. This dessert just knocked your socks off and to top off the evening the price was extremely reasonable. So I give my Valentine’s Day…two thumbs up! I wish you all a Happy V-day and many good memories! Okay now to what you really want to talk about….Nobby’s first monorail ride.

And now…Chapter 9: Let’s go ride the Monorail!!!!

After Nobby and I had finished our most delish breakfast at Chef Mickey’s, we thanked the family next to us who had been so gracious to help us take pictures and we in return took whole family pictures for them and we thanked our server Jonathan. I live by certain rules and one of those rules is to spread common courtesy and cheer wherever I go. Now I don’t always follow this rule but at Disney it’s so easy, just say thank you, say hello how are you, and share a wave or smile, it’s things little things like that, that make for a good day!!! Then Nobby and I decided we should freshen up a bit before heading to the Magic Kingdom and we were in the Contemporary, of course I needed to check out what a deluxe bathroom is like. (Okay another side note LOL, I’m full of them today. I love reading the random threads on here and one time I found one on toilet paper deluxe vs. value, well without going into details none of us want to share or hear…yes there is a difference and that’s all I’m going to say about that). So after cleaning up and enjoy the greatness that is a deluxe bathroom Nobby and I needed to find our way to the loading area for the resort monorail. Of course when all else fails just follow the signs LOL!

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0412.jpg

Here are some great pictures of our view from the monorail loading area. You have Chef Mickey’s and of course the beautiful windows.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0413.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0414-1.jpg

Sorry about the window shot being so dark, I’m working on getting used to my camera. I’m definitely getting me a book on photography from my local library before my next trip at least get an idea of how to take good pictures.
Finally our chariot had arrived and Nobby and I were able to secure our own car to ourselves.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0415-1.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0421.jpg

It was great, Nobby being the independent daredevil gnome extraordinaire that he is insisted on having his own seat and then insisted that he wanted his picture take, now you maybe thinking what a bossy gnome that Nobby is, but he’s quite polite and made sure to say please and thank you often…he was well trained that gnome. So I obliged and let him sit on his own and I even took a photo to commemorate his first monorail ride.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0419-1.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0418.jpg

(Okay, another side note LOL!! I will not try to explain to you how my brain works or how it remembers things because either I will scare you or you will completely relate which will scare us both LOL!!! However, I can’t remember whose TR I was reading but I do remember that the poster mentioned the monorail having a smell. I totally couldn’t remember if it did or not, but this stuck with me and yes I am here to confirm that the Monorail has its own distinctive scent. LOL…another attack of my randomness LOL)

Finally after what seemed like forever, but was most likely only 3 minutes we were headed on the resort loop. First stop would be the Poly! I was very excited to see this resort and I knew my chance would be coming considering Nobby and I would be dining at Ohana’s for dinner on Sunday. The Deluxe resorts are just so gorgeous, for now I would have to settle with a picture from my window on the monorail.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0420-1.jpg

After a brief wait to allow guests staying at the Poly to board the monorail we were back to flying across the Magic Kingdom area. This area is so gorgeous in the morning! Next stop was the Grand Floridian! Can I just say WOW!! Just WOW, that about sums it all up! Nobby was extremely excited to see this resort because he knew in a few days we would be back to be pampered and enjoy dinner with the stepsisters.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0422.jpg

Then it was time, our arrival to the Magic Kingdom! I was so excited at this point, we were about to see the castle. Nobby and I were itching to get off the monorail and walk down the ramp and get to the turnstiles. This was the glorious site that greeted us….

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0424-1.jpg

And we were there…the Magic Kingdom! What is the first ride of the day? What is that crane thingie doing in our pictures? Will we meet any characters this day?? Well guess you’ll find out soon!! See you later!!

PS: Yes I was able to make an entire update about a 7 minute ride on the monorail…I know like I said if I tried to explain to you my brain it would scare you senseless.

Chapter 10: There’s a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow…the song I love to have stuck in my head!

Happy Valentine’s Day!! I hope each of you have a great day celebrating however you decide to celebrate!!! My husband surprised me and added to our Valentine’s Day by agreeing to take tickets to see Andrew Kearns (one of the Irish Tenors) in concert last night. We were able to join our best friends and we had a great time. The music was fantastic, boy can that man sing. Well I promise not to ramble too much as I have to get us all the way through Tomorrowland (which is most likely an hour of Disney time and yet it takes me days to write it for you to enjoy). Oh wait…I feel another ramble coming on although this is definitely Disney related LOL!

Also I made my first purchase towards future trips! See thanks to Soleil I have become a Vera Bradley lover. My very first Vera purchase was a hipster and I love it. It is a great everyday purse that I can take with me to work and what not. I even contemplated taking it to Disney but then released that traveling by myself and having Nobby the hipster was just not going to cut it. However I was very interested in the Cargo Sling. It was bigger and it looked like it might make it to Disney World. My friend LL had recently gotten one and had mentioned that hers was perfect for the things she wanted to carry around including Nobby so I was sold. So I went to Ebay and I found an auction where you could offer a best price and it was accepted so hopefully sometime next week my newest Vera will arrive. For those interested here is a photo of my new trip bag.

Okay, Okay...now we'll get back to Tomorrowland LOL!

Nobby and I had arrived in plenty of time and we had scoped out a spot for the Opening Show. Now I’m sorry I didn’t really take pictures of this because I really just wanted to watch it and enjoy it because sometimes I get so caught up in getting the perfect picture I miss a lot. The opening show was fantastic as usual and I love listening to the song they sing and seeing the train pull up with all the characters. Then it was time to countdown and head inside. Now I can commando with the best of them, but seriously this trip there would be no pushing, no running, no speed walking, I would get where I was going and would do it at my own pace with no worries. Then the moment we had been waiting for, we were walking down Main Street. Now I’m not a big emotional crier, before this trip I had never cried when I saw the Castle, never cried during Wishes (of course I had never seen wishes), I don’t do the happy cry. This time it was a bit different, maybe it was the Main Street Bakery smell or the beautiful sight before me, but the tears came. I didn’t breakdown or anything but a few very happy tears were shed because here I was in the most magical place and I was having the most amazing time. Well I quickly composed myself and started walking down Main Street making sure to wave to all the wonderful people who were out to greet us that chilly morning. I also made a mental note to ask the CMs if the construction crane, which I assumed was doing some refurb on the castle was going to be there for awhile. I will take any photo of Cinderella’s castle that I can get, but still I was really hoping the next time I came the crane would be gone LOL! Nobby and I had a plan and we wanted to hit up Tomorrowland first so that is where we headed, but we got a bit sidetracked. I saw my first Photopass photographer YAY!! This guy was taking photos from an angle which meant not so much crane in my photo YAY!! So I stopped and posed for a bit. Some of these shots are just plain cheesy so I’ll just show you the normal one for now LOL!

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0425-1.jpg

Then it was time to enter Tomorrowland.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0427-1.jpg

I love the music in Tomorrowland it really just sets the futuristic mood. So I headed to get a FP for Space Mountain and then decided to go ahead and do the standby line because the wait was 15 minutes tops.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0429-1.jpg

Okay I have heard you can either go right or left on this ride and it makes a difference and I mentally tell myself each time to pay attention to wherever this fork in the line is, but yet again it thwarted me and I just kept going straight and I can’t possibly tell you which side I went on because yet again I didn’t even realize there were sides…oh well maybe in the fall LOL!! Space Mountain was great, Nobby and I loved it!! The ride always scares me a bit though that I’m going to hit my head on something, but it never fails I always come out in once piece. I really love the little exhibits you get to view as you are leaving especially the robo-dog, I wish I could take him home with me.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0433.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0434.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0436.jpg

After leaving Space Mountain with a FP to return later it was time to take on the Evil Emperor Zurg and his Alien Gang!

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0441-1.jpg

I really really like this ride, the queue is fun and I just love being able to shoot the Z targets everywhere. Am I any good?? Well that can be up for debate, but did I have fun oh you’d better believe it!! Here is a photo of my final score, I didn’t bother to check what my Star Command level would be, because it most likely said pathetic but I really enjoyed the ride!!

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0442.jpg

I then had to go and get pictures of Zurg put behind bars where he really belongs.
http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0444-1.jpg

As Nobby and I were exciting Buzz Lightyear, Nobby reminded me it was his turn to choose a ride and he wanted to go on Stitch’s Great Escape. Look I love this gnome but sometimes you just have to draw a line and while you my wonderful readers may enjoy that ride, there is nothing you can do to get me on it again, not even the cutest and most adorable gnome in the world begging could convince me to go. He wanted to go by himself but he didn’t quite make the height requirements so he was a bit put out and wanted to go pout. I promised him that any other ride he wanted to go on, even the dreaded tea cups, I would go on with him. He thought this over for a bit and got a sheepish grin on his face and I knew then I was going to regret my promise, oh and yes my friends later that day I would definitely regret that promise. With a satisfied gnome, we decided to leave Tomorrowland and head to Fantasy Land before things got too crowded there. As we were exciting it dawned on me the Carousel of Progress, we totally didn’t go see it. So turn around we did.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0445.jpg

Okay I have a confession to make I have never once in my life seen the Carousel of Progress. I honestly had no idea this ride even existed until I heard people rave about it here on the DIS board, but from the sounds of things it was the type of ride I would love! Oh did I love this ride, it was fantastic!! The song, oh, the song is amazing…let’s all sing it together…

“There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow…
shining at the end of everyday…
There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow…
And tomorrow is just a dream away.”

The song I love to get stuck in my head! I can see why this was one of Walt’s favorite rides, it is now one of mine! Now with that completed and crossed of our to-do list we were off to Fantasyland, most definitely Nobby’s favorite land of them all LOL.

Would I make good on my promise to Nobby to ride ANY ride he wanted, NO MATTER WHAT? Would the very princessy tiara ever make a grand appearance on my head? Is there another song out there that could possibility knock “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” out of my head??? Well if you’re lucky you’ll find out tomorrow if not the best I can promise is by Wednesday!! Until then my friends……sing with me again LOL!! Okay Okay I’ll knock it off with the song!!!

Oh, if only my Connor were as amenable as Nobby where Stitch is concerned. Unfortunately, I can't cram Connor back in my bag when he starts whining about that ride, so we usually do it. :crazy2:

I can't speak highly enough of the cargo sling as a park bag. I used it in December, and it worked very very well. I loved all the little compartments for keeping things separate, and once I learned that DS' wipes were just to heavy and I should leave them in the bottom of the stroller, the bag felt really light to carry, which was nice.

Thanks for the pictures from Space Mountain! I never go in there. Long story, but anyway, it's nice to see something I usually don't. :goodvibes

I think they will because I always feel guilty about leaving them behind.

Oh that would be so great! I wanna meet your little ones! Rach would have a blast w/Connor and idolize Chelsea! :yay:

Me too! Me too!! Yeah for Chelsea and Connor coming too!! Will they teach me how to do certain poses? ;)

Oh a group pose pic would be sooo funny! :rotfl2:

You know I am pretty sure that we will need a group photo with Bo no matter what.

Oh hilarious!!! :rotfl2:

(psst, Jackie...I haven't ridden CoP since I was a kid either. Shhh, don't tell the others)

:faint:

Oh Katie. :sad2:

Butterscotch!!! :rotfl: Last trip we saw a little girl with the plush version of the PoTC dog and she told me that was his "real name" I can't think of him as anyone else now! I love Disney dogs! I forget the CoP dog's name though...with all this talk I think I'll see if I can find a youtube ridethrough!

That's a cute story, Stacey! Now I'll think of that dog as "Butterscotch!" :rotfl2:

BTW, Jen, I just noticed that the robot dog in SM has the same doggie dishes my dogs do!!

All caught up...I skipped other people's comments. Did someone mention that the line doesn't split off on SM until you are practically on the ride and that the CMs tell you which side you have to go on??? That's why you couldn't find it. You weren't given a choice.

Happy to help! I think you'll find it to be a great alternative to a backpack. DH and I have gone the backpack route for so long, and there's nothing wrong with that (especially when you have all the toddler whatnot to carry) but now that DS is older, I really wanted something...well, more stylish. :lmao: And fun, too.

No Space Mountain??????

Chapter 11: On to Fantasyland we go….

Hello all my dear friends and fellow Disney fanatics! I hope you are all having a most enjoyable week so far. I’m making it LOL!!! Life has been a bit crazy, but I feel like things will be slowing down starting this evening and that would be a good thing for my household. I can’t wait for Friday to get here, because I’m very excited about my weekend plans. I will be attending a ladies conference with my church. I’m looking for the time away and a relaxing weekend with my friends!! Well once again I could ramble for awhile so instead I will just get back to the tales of Nobby and I, since that’s why you’re here LOL!!

Nobby and I really enjoyed the Carousel of Progress, but we knew our morning window to enjoy rides in Fantasyland was growing small. We both knew we didn’t want to deal with huge crowds so we headed over that way. On the way we passed the spinning cups and I said a silent prayer that Nobby wouldn’t ask to get on those. You see I have an issue with spinning rides and I had no desire to get all nauseous and dizzy at Walt Disney World. Thankfully Nobby didn’t ask so I didn’t stop and we kept on moving. We did take a moment to take a few pictures of the very cute topiary and wave to the Mad Hatter and Alice who were on their way to enjoy a cup of tea.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0450.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0448-1.jpg

Nobby and I both agreed we would try to meet up with them later this trip. As we walked into Fantasyland things were still relatively slow and the area wasn’t all that crowded.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0464.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0463.jpg

Well the first ride in Fantasyland we decided to go on was The Great Adventures of Winnie Pooh.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0451.jpg

I really love how the queue for this ride has pages of the book with stories about Pooh and his friends lining the walls. It is quite charming if you ask me.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0452.jpg

The ride is really a lot of fun! I keep meaning to find the picture of Mr. Toad handing the deed to Owl but I keep missing it. Oh well maybe next time I will remember!!! Some photos from the ride.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0457.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0460.jpg

So I asked Nobby where he wanted to go next and of course he said Snow White’s ride of course…oh but of course…however I knew this was not the payback for no Stitch, Snow White would be too easy, I mean Nobby knew I was going to take him on this ride.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0465.jpg

We entered the queue and the wait was very minimal and before we knew it we were in a mining cart making a wish near the wishing well and going on an adventure.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0470.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0472-1.jpg

The ride was really cute, the old woman witch sort of scared me, but Nobby was my hero and promised to protect me. Nobby really enjoyed the scene in the dwarves’ house and he might have done a little jig, but he wasn’t too impressed with the Prince. Apparently Nobby thinks Snow White belongs only to him. However Nobby did make sure it was pointed out that the Prince had to kiss Snow White; Snow White on the other hand kissed him. That’s right, Nobby’s no fool, he knows how to dot those I’s and cross those T’s LOL!!! After Snow White we decided to explore more of Fantasyland. Since it was my turn to choose I decided we should check out the wait for Peter Pan (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA okay that is me laughing hysterically) because the wait was already at 50 minutes and I’m not waiting that long for anything. I turned to head towards Liberty Square when a chill ran down my spine (and it wasn’t the good kind that you get when riding Haunted Mansion) and I just knew…oh yes I just knew the moment was here. I made the mistake of making eye contact with Nobby and he had that sheepish look on his face. All he did was stare, and with horror in my heart I turned to look and there it was my karma payback for No Stitch.

Okay so it’s a classic, it’s somewhat charming, it has girl dolls that sing and dance that are Nobby’s size (wait a minute now it all makes sense, that gnome is such a little flirt), but that song, oh that song no matter what language you sing it in drives me batty. Someone once said that after riding It’s a Small World it requires therapy to get that song out of your head, they weren’t kidding you literally will be singing that song in German and you don’t even know German. So I don’t make it a habit of riding this ride, I usually watch it on youtube with it muted and enjoy it just as if I was in one of those little boats. Somehow I didn’t think youtube was going to cut it for Nobby. I could still feel his eyes on me as if he was daring me to refuse him this ride. Well I’m no fool and I wasn’t about to bring on the wrath of a gnome upon me (I’ve read fairy tales, I know what Nobby can do when he’s mad). I took a deep breath and tried to mentally prepare myself and with my head held high I walked into the queue. I figured the best defense against the song that penetrates the brain and never leaves would be concentrating on getting good photos. I must say I did find this clock to be very pretty.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0483.jpg

Thankfully we didn’t have to wait very long and Nobby insisted that he got to sit next to the edge of the boat. (Sorry for the blurriness, I attempted to take his photo 4 times and each time he was so excited about this ride he moved LOL)

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0484.jpg

Right before the ride got started I noticed Nobby was fixing his hair and straightening his jacket, at that point it dawned on me, the little Casanova wanted to hit on the girls in this ride. This amused me greatly and made the ride a lot more bearable for me. I mean how cute is it to watch a gnome flirt especially with girls who don’t speak the same language as him, but he’s not a gnome of many words anyways so I was interested to see how he would get their attention. With a wave to the CM in charge of the ride we were off.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0489.jpg

I love the Toy Soldiers aren’t they so adorable. Nobby wasn’t really interested in them, hmmm I wonder why LOL!!!

However the blonde in this picture was a whole other story, I swear to you I saw Nobby wink at her.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0494.jpg

We moved on from the European room into the Asia room. Nobby found quite a few very beautiful ladies in here!

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0501.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0502-1.jpg

I think of all the rooms in IASW I really like the African one the best. I think it’s because of all the animals, they look so cute. Finally we entered the finale area and Nobby insisted he needed a picture of him in the ride to prove he had really been there.
I told him there was a good chance the picture would turn out dark because I was not going to use the flash, it is against the rules. He didn’t care he wanted the picture of him in ISAW.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0515.jpg

Finally the ride was over and of course the song was stuck in my head YAY!! But Nobby was happy and that was worth its weight in gold. A happy gnome is a very good thing (don’t you think that should be written on a fortune cookie). Nobby was so happy that he even convinced me to go on it one more time, he has such a cute begging face. That’s right IASW twice within 30 minutes, it would mean the song would be stuck in my head for that much longer, but then again it would be worth it, well maybe I’m not sure much is worth having that song stuck in your head at 1 am in the morning LOL!

So with a happy gnome and a sickeningly sweet song stuck in my head where would we go next? Would I ever get to meet the 999 ghosts? What do you do when the park gets too crowded? Did someone say Brown Derby for lunch? Well once again my friends this is where I stop and leave you with these questions. The answers will have to come to you next time! Until then…have a great day!!!

HELLO!!!!!

Would it surprise you if I told you I totally tried to put the tiara on Nobby but it just wouldn't stay!! :lmao: A lot of my outfits I made for him were flops...it was devastating, however with that in mind I have gotten smarter and now I've begun making some custom things for Nobby LOL...He's getting his own little gift when I see him next its going to be great!!!

:rotfl: I can't wait to see all his outfits!

I got all caught up again on your TR - Isn't CoP great?! It's one of our favorites. Technology + cheesiness makes this nerd family HAPPY! However, a certain antsy 1 year old made it not quite as enjoyable in November and skipped in January. Hopefully in December he can sit still!

I can't believe you did Small World twice in a row. You are one brave woman!!!!!! But, I bet it was wonderful seeing Nobby enjoy himself so much. :lovestruc

The old witch in Snow White still scares me. They don't call that ride the SCARY adventures of Snow White for nothing!! :rotfl2:

Nobby is too cute on Small World. Twice. Wow. So will you go back on in the fall to see the updates of the classic Disney characters they've put in? Or is that just in Disneyland? :confused3

Lunch at Brown Derby? Is that next?? :hyper:

Awww...Good Morning Brook!! I hope you get your chance to ride COP at some point I bet that little guy of yours will love it just as much as you and your DH do LOL!!!

The things you'll do to keep a gnome happy...I know twice in a row...never again. That's all I'm saying my quota for indulging the gnome has been filled LOL!

No Kidding, I couldn't believe how long that line would get. I would finally head there first on my last day there so I could ride it without any wait, it was bizarre how long that line would get.

I think the updates are just at Disneyland, but I'll still ride it again, but only once and immediately afterward I will need to head to either COP or HM to get the song out of my head. It turns out those songs are the best therapy.

And yes....at some point next (don't quite have the organization decided on) I'll be discussing lunch at Brown Derby!

Oh, Nobby got you back, that's for sure! :rotfl: I must confess that I adore it's a small world -- I even have the song on my ipod (parts of it are in French) -- but I understand that it grates on people's nerves. I am glad that you are aware of what thrarwted (spelling?) gnomes can do -- you don't want to end up promising your first-born to him or anything. :lmao:

Chapter 12: Will my Glasses Survive BTMRR ?

Hello my friends!! I hope each of you is having a glorious week! I apologize for the delay in my trip report! I went away this weekend to a ladies’ retreat and it threw off my entire schedule. I try to update at least once during the week and once during the weekend and well I was gone most of the weekend so it got me all in a tizzy!! So I apologize for the wait but I hope you will find it to be worth it. BTW, I had a great time at my retreat and it was a really nice time to relax. I won Phase 10 for the first time ever, before that I wanted to do dastardly things to my eyes with forks instead of playing that game. I also won gift certificates to Olive Garden and I’m hoping Prince Phillip has had a good day and will want to use them for dinner tonight. I am a big fan of their soup and salad and I really want to try their bruschetta, it’s my new thing LOL!! Alright enough of my rambling and back to Day 2, after Fantasyland!

So after riding It’s A Small World twice in a row I needed some serious detox. So it was time to leave Fantasyland ASAP. I placed Nobby in his carrying case promising him that I would get him out during our next ride. It was off to Liberty Square and then I saw it…my Haunted Mansion. Yes, I said mine, I choose to believe that the Haunted Mansion is there for me and only me LOL…okay not really but I do love that ride something fierce and if they ever let I’m moving in. Well I really wanted to ride Haunted Mansion but I noticed down the road towards Frontierland there was a little party going on and I wanted to check it out.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0517.jpg

I needed musical therapy and nothing will get IASW out of your head faster than some good bluegrass, country music. Besides I saw characters and well we know how I get when I see characters.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0518.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0519.jpg

Square dancers were out in full force and they were grabbing people from the side to dance with them. It was great to see all the little ones getting involved and dancing and having a great ole time. Even some of the characters were out and dancing with the children. It just made me smile and tap my foot right along with them. I even let Nobby out to do a little doe-see-doe! I took another picture of the Brer Rabbit before heading on down the road to check out the wait for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0520.jpg

As I headed towards Big Thunder Mountain I noticed that Splash Mountain was indeed under refurbishment.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0529.jpg

I for one didn’t mind missing out on this ride, because it was only in the 50’s maybe lower 60’s that day and there would have been no way you would have gotten me on that ride. I don’t care if they do turn down the sprays of water and what not. NO way was I getting on a ride where I could get wet on that very cold day! Although I did have to appreciate how beautiful that mountain looked that morning, even with no water it was a fantastic site to behold.

Finally Nobby and I reached our destination of BTMRR.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0521.jpg

As you can see the wait was only a few minutes. So I grabbed a FP incase I would want to ride later (I wouldn’t LOL) and I hopped into the line. I have to totally give Disney Kudos because they have some of the best queue areas around. I just love some of the amazing things you can see in the queues around the Disney property.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0522.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0523.jpg

The famous Lytum and Hyde box of dynamite!! You got to love the puns too. I mean if you enjoy a good pun check out the Jungle Cruise line too, it’s great! In case you were wondering if you are going to light a stick of dynamite it is always good practice to drop it and run and hide, you don’t want to be anywhere near the boom. We all have seen the Wile E. Coyote cartoons haven’t we LOL (oh wait am I allowed to mention them during a Disney Trip report LOL).

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0524.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0525.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0528.jpg

Of course for my dear friend LL I became a light fixture picture fiend (wow, say that fast a few times LOL). I really like the light post one the best with the background it just looks so beautiful. I have to say it’s a bit scary when I realize that some of my best pictures taken on this trip were of lights.

Finally it was Nobby and I’s turn to board our railroad cart and away we went. I really do enjoy this ride. I really like the little mining town and the animals. I wish I had thought about keeping my camera out although I’m positive I wouldn’t have gotten any good photos and most likely would have lost my camera. Besides I was too worried about losing my glasses so I was making sure they were staying on my head!!! All too soon the ride was over and we deposited back at the end of Frontierland and yes my glasses did survive WHOOHOO!!! Now having properly removed IASW from head…I could head to the epitome of all rides…oh yes my friends I had a date, a date with a doombuggie and this was one date I was not going to be late for! (I usually run late to everything unless of course I'm in Disney and then I manage to be 30 minutes early to everything its amazing how that works LOL)

Will they let me stay in the Haunted Mansion? How much trouble can you really get into if you try to sneak off a doombuggie? Will I finally remember to take a photo of the famous pet cemetary. Does the Haunted Mansion have light fixtures? You know you're just "dying" to find out all these answers...LOL I kill me LOL another pun LOL...man alright I'll stop now! Guess you'll find out next time...you knew a whole entire update would have to be devoted to the Haunted Mansion I mean its MY ride after all!!

In all seriousness, I'm still enjoying this trip report so much. Maybe someday I'll try the solo thing, it just seems like you are having a great time. And I must admit, even though I am a big ole scaredy cat, I have been on BTMRR. One time at night too, and that was fun. I'm not quite sure if I would call it a whole town...like I called it more like a little village but there are animals, a wagon (I believe), and a guy in a bathtub but that is enough for me to call it a town LOL!!!!

Haunted Mansion is out of this world LOL!!!!!

Isn't it great!! I love finding things like that!! Next time I'm taking pictures of all the cool puns in the line for the Jungle Cruise its great! And I'm on a mission to find out what those letters spell on the Tower of Terror!! So much to see and do and so little time!!!! OY!

Lytum and Hyde...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I've never seen that before. I tend to run through the lines and not take the time to notice things!

I usually did that, but this time I was really able to enjoy the queues and just explore them a bit!! I have a list for next time of things I want to see in line!

I hope LL is up for some detail finding LOL!!

I just heard the banjo music and really wanted to see what was going on over there. Is it a bad thing that I didn't realize they were rare characters! I knew who they were...I know they are from Song of the South! I didn't realize they were that rare to see out!! I'm glad I took the pictures I did then LOL

Ahhhh. Yes. It's been a LONG time since I've been on a retreat with church! Our church doesn't really do them...:confused3 I miss it!

ANYWAY...great update! I've never seen pics of Brer Rabbit in anyone's TR, or the square dancers! That is so fun! I love to square dance (HELLO NERD!), I learned in 4th grade and that is the only time I have gotten to do it. :lmao: I would have been so right up there dancin' away!

I'm with you on Splash. It has to be H-O-T in order for me to ride it. I don't like walking around soaking wet. :sad2:

I LOVE BTMRR though! LOVE IT! I have never seen that Lytum & Hyde...that is so clever! Since we do a lot of FP with having a little one, I usually just buzz through as fast as possible. I think that might have to change in December. Take a minute, soak it in! I know the queue's look cool, but I never have stopped to really experience them!

Glad your glasses survived!

Joe (and I) aren't big on haunted houses, so we skipped it in 2006 not knowing anything about it. Since then I have learned it less about the "haunt" and more about goofiness. Which we ARE both into....so I promise, I will ride the HM!

I'm really looking forward to your update about it, because while I have heard a *bit* about it, it's more just about how great it is and hitchhiking ghosts. I haven't really read a complete review of the ride-which hopefully you are planning on doing! :goodvibes

I also got to do the Keys to Kingdom tour and had a great time going in the back way into the haunted Mansion it was great LOL!!!

You got to see Brer Bear & Brer Rabbit!!! You lucky dog you!!

Splash was down for us too. My kids have never gotten to ride it so no Jan for us next time. I love that ride.

BTMRR is very fun I took the kids on it a night last time that was really cool.

Waiting anxiously for the HM update I know we rode it at least 6 times last month.:woohoo:

I still can't get over how rare a find they must have been...if I had only known LOL!!!! I'm almost finished with HM so soon we'll be riding it together again LOL

:surfweb: Anxiously waiting to read about the HM! :goodvibes

Almost finish...I had to really take time to work on this one LOL

Whew. I think I'm all caught up. I love Big Thunder Mountain! On our last day there, we headed there at rope drop. DH and DS waited for me outside (DS is not so much into roller coasters and I think we traumatized him last year with this one :) ). Anyway....I was in the first train out. WHOOHOO. Ride came to an end and THEY LET US RIDE AGAIN!! Okay, I have never been on a ride at DISNEY where they let you ride again. But, there was absolutely no one waiting to ride. It was awesome!

I don't want to spoil any of my TR but I also was allowed to stay on a ride....and it WAS AMAZING...but I'll tell you more about that later LOL!!

hi Jen! I'm back from the World and all caught up on your TR. *taking 4 steps back* I didn't get to ride HM (don't hit me!).....so I'll have to live vicariously (sp??) through you. the wait was 50 minutes and I can't believe there is no FP. I was bummed. DH is teasing me with talk of a trip without kids so I just have something to look forward to next time.

Oh I hope you had a great time!!!! I can't wait until my return trip!!! NO HM...50 minute WAIT...what has this world come to UGGHH!!! I would have been bummed to!! Well you won't have to wait too much longer we should be able to ride together soon!!

Chapter 13 (Part 1): 999 Happy Haunts and Yes I Have Already Reserved My Spot!

LOL…how classic is it that my 13th Chapter would be devoted to the Haunted Mansion. I promise I so didn’t plan it that way…really I didn’t if you would have told me that from the beginning that I would still be on my first full day and on chapter 13 I would have laughed my head off…either way the Happy Haunts knew best didn’t they LOL) This just keeps getting better and better and of course it would be the first post on page 31...you just got love this, I know I am!!

Oh once again I feel the need to say I’m sorry for the delay. I love my life I really do, but the constant busyness that I deal with I could do without. That being said however, I guess it really is my fault that I’m so busy. This last weekend I had the honor of taking part in a choir clinic held by my church. It was fantastic, I love singing in my church and anytime I have opportunity to sing with my friends I jump at it. So that is where I was on Friday and Saturday, so once again I was thrown off my update schedule. When I wasn’t at the choir clinic, I was busy trying to clean my house and keep my husband sane as he finished his finals. Now it would seem we can breathe again…finals are done, we rearranged our living room, and I’m even caught up on the dishes and laundry. WHOOHOO!!! This next weekend I’ll be scrapbooking, but its Disney related so I just might have to show you my works of art if you are all interested.

Now I must confess something to you all, I had a lot of fun, but I was very picky about writing this chapter. I do not take my love of the Haunted Mansion lightly and I really wanted to do justice to my first trip on this ride during Nobby and I’s adventures. So I actually hand wrote this update before posting it because I didn’t want to forget a single thing. I promise that the rest of my trips to the Haunted Mansion will be just as detailed because each trip I learned or saw something new and each trip had its own very unique experience with it. I also must apologize to Nobby’s loyal friends because Nobby won’t show up as much in this update (don’t worry he’ll be back right away, as if you can keep that gnome down), but the first ride on Haunted Mansion was all for me. You will learn more about Nobby’s impression of this glorious ride on our second trip to the Mansion. Well now that I have given you a very thorough introduction, shall we begin?

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0531.jpg

Three little words, who knew three little words, could bring such joy to my heart. I’d like to think every person in the world will one day get the privilege of hearing those special three little words. Those special words have caused my spirit to soar and have on countless occasions brought a smile to my face.

WELCOME FOOLISH MORTALS…LOL what three words were you thinking I was talking about. If you been a part of Nobby and I’s adventures for any amount of time then you know my ultimate favorite ride, the cream of the crop you may say, for me is The Haunted Mansion.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0533.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0535.jpg

To be completely honest my fascination with this ride is borderline obsessive…okay who am I kidding I’m obsessed with this ride. I have books, I have read up on all the folklore and myths surrounding this mysterious place, I belong to an online community of that live and breath this ride, I have clips of ride downloaded on my MP3 player, I paid $1.00 to hear a daughter of one of the imaginers read one of the tales of the Haunted Mansion on Halloween Night, I have almost the entire ride script memorized and am working on the Holiday one over at DL that I’m extremely fascinated with at the moment, I have made a promise to myself that before I die I will ride every Haunted Mansion that sits in a Disney park (whoooo…another one to add to my bucket list gnomies!), I had the lovely P (aka ILuvCrush) make me my own personal design featuring the Haunted Mansion and yes it gets even more pathetic, I have even asked a CM to put me back on hold so I could finish listening to “Grim, Grinning Ghosts” instead of making a precious ADR. So in case you haven’t caught on by now, yeah I’m a fan and it was a HUGE deal when it was finally time for me to ride this marvelous creation of ghostly mayhem once again.

Just walking up to the Mansion gave me goosebumps. I just love the look of this place.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0536.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0537.jpg

The ghost drawn hearse, the dead trees, the grass that is not cut exactly the same (did you know that, oh yeah the blades of grass, totally not even LOL), and more dead plants. As I was staring and admiring the exquisite attention given to detail, it dawned on me that I had discovered my Disney dream job. Do you know they actually put forth effort to keep the Mansion looking deserted and really creepy? They actually pay someone to make the plants look dead, shoot I do that all the time at my house for free. My Prince Phillip would be more than happy to provide a great reference on how well I kill plants; I have a talent for it. So you see, I could get paid to do something that comes naturally to me at my favorite place in all of Disney…one can only hope right???

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0534.jpg

The wait was very minimal, 10 minutes tops at this point. Okay there isn’t anything that I don’t love about this ride but I really enjoy the queue. I mean who doesn’t love walking right past a family cemetery on their way inside a house LOL. So yeah, I’m one of those people I stop off to side and just take my time to really admire the tombstones. I always inform those around me to go on around me and I’m very careful not to be in people’s way, but I’m in no rush when its Haunted Mansion time. I read every tombstone and I have to tell you, the puns on some of those never, and I really mean NEVER, get old to me. I’m sure I scare some of the small children and probably some adults too as I stand trying to put my head as far as it will go through the gate (one day you are going to hear on the news about a woman who had to have the jaws of life brought in to remove her head from the Haunted Mansion, just remember you knew me before I became famous LOL), and I laugh like a loon at the jokes on the tombstones. However, I also appreciate the history and the stories each tombstone tells, if you know a little about the making of the ride it really adds to the charm. I know who Master Gracey is and what he means to the Haunted Mansion?? Do you??? (I don’t want to spoil anything about the Haunted Mansion for anyone so I might throw some hints out there, but I’ll let you PM me if you’re not sure about some of things in here).

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0539-1.jpg

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0541.jpg

No matter what, no matter how long the wait, I always wait for Madame Leota to make her presence known and grant me entrance into her ride. For those of you who are not acquainted with Madame Leota she is the fortune teller who in the afterlife still enjoys a great séance, you can find her in a crystal ball during the ride. Well back to her tombstone, if you do not know what I am referring to, next time you are waiting in line for the Haunted Mansion, take the time to admire, I mean really admire, at least for say 2-3 minutes Madame Leota’s tombstone, you’ll catch on.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0540-1.jpg

Finally after completing my ritualistic gawking of the tombstones it was time to enter the Mansion itself. I so could not be a maid or butler of this house, you have to act grumpy and all creepy like and well I get to happy when I’m near the Haunted Mansion, so hats off to these wonderful folks who do such a great job of totally freaking me out. It was at this time I told Nobby to hold on to his hat because he was in for a real treat!

So just like with everything else I really try to take my time in foyer area of the Haunted Mansion. To me this ride is all about the little details, well I guess everything at Disney for me is about the little details. After experiencing the parks a couple of times I now find my true joy is in the little details that set Disney apart from the rest. I enjoy looking at the wallpaper and I really like admiring the fire place. Last but definitely not least in that room is the portrait. The one of the master of the house, I love how you get to see the stages of his life, very creepy LOL. Then you are invited into a portrait gallery of sorts. Now I must make a confession, I don’t find much scary about the Haunted Mansion, however that first scene in the stretching room tries to prove me wrong over and over again. Doesn’t matter but when it is suggested that “there is always my way” to escape the room with no windows or no doors and then lights go out, yeah I jump in fright EVERY SINGLE TIME.

After regaining my composure I made sure to be the last one to leave this very exciting room. The butler gave me quite the look and I told him in the most creepy voice I could muster….I was told I must stand here and listen very carefully. I swear the butler smirked, but I promised not to reveal his name because well that kind of behavior can get you stuck on It’s a Small World. However, if you ever just have some time to “kill” ( I couldn’t resist…corny pun #1), you should really hold back and just listen, you just might be pleasantly surprised. Then it was off to the loading area, once again you have to love the attention to detail. Then it was time to take my seat in the world famous Doombuggy. Now the night before I left I was getting myself in the Disney mood (as if I really need to try to do that LOL) and was listening to a PodCast devoted to the top 10 things we love about the Haunted Mansion. Well they mentioned the Doombuggy, and the gentleman on the podcast said if one of those were to ever come for sale one of his children would not be going to college, LOL, now that is some Haunted Mansion love. I do realize that he was kidding (well maybe LOL) however seriously if I thought I could afford one and it was on sale I’d buy one and put it in my living room, front and center. Could you imagine watching a movie in one of those things, now that would be cool. Oh wait I’m rambling and as if this post isn’t long enough and I haven’t even gotten on the ride yet LOL!!! So I carefully secured Nobby in his seat, he was a bit shaken up about the whole pre-show and our first introduction to our host…your ghost host LOL!!! We let the Ghost Host himself safely secure us in our seats and with a wave we were off.

Brief Intermission: Now I’m going to be honest with you, I don’t mind taking pictures in POTC or in ISAW or even on the Jungle Cruise, I never use the flash but I’ll take photos. However I don’t do it during the Haunted Mansion. Maybe one day when I have ridden it for the millionth time I’ll try to take a few photos, but for me this ride is all about the experience and I can’t do that if I’m busy worrying about taking a non-fuzzy photo, so I’m sorry you’re just going to have to go through this ride through my mind and my memory and hopefully I’ll do it justice.

This ride has been momentarily delayed due to some ghostly mischief…please stay seated and we will continue with this ride in an upcoming post LOL!!

Oh yeah you had to know this was coming…seriously did you think I was going to be able to do the WHOLE Haunted Mansion in just one post LOL!!!!!!

And yes I was just able to do an entirely too long post on just the beginning of the ride...yeah I'm that good LOL

WELCOME FOOLISH MORTALS…LOL what three words were you thinking I was talking about.

LOVE IT!!! HM is one of my faves and Connor's -- maybe even my number one fave -- so I am eating this up, Jen!!!

I have even asked a CM to put me back on hold so I could finish listening to “Grim, Grinning Ghosts” instead of making a precious ADR.

That's classic right there!!! I heard that Saturday while I was on hold and it made my day!!!

Then it was time to take my seat in the world famous Doombuggy. We let the Ghost Host himself safely secure us in our seats and with a wave we were off.

Isn't that one of your favorite parts??? I remember as a kid even, I loved how that safety bar came down on its own.

This ride has been momentarily delayed due to some ghostly mischief…please stay seated and we will continue with this ride in an upcoming post LOL!!

Our HM ride last year actually had this happen to us -- we were stuck in the ballroom for a good five minutes -- Connor and I were dangling over our safety bar and having the time of our lives pointing out all the details.

Beautifully done so far, Jen!

When DBFF and I were on the one in Disneyland, the CM actually hitched a ride on our Doombuggy and came around swung around and scared the ever-livin' out of us a few seconds into the ride! :scared1: I don't know if I've ever been so scared! Have you listened to "Mousetalgia" Jen? It's actually a DisneyLAND podcast, but one of the creators of the Doombuggies website is one of the hosts, and they talk about it a lot. One episode they talk about a Doombuggies anniversary event they held AT the HM w/one of the Disney Legendrs, Bob Gurr (sp?) who designed the doombuggie. It's a great funny podcast, you should listen!

AWWWW...I'm so jealous you got stuck in front of the ballroom SERIOUSLY!!! That is not fair...I got to get stuck in front of the library which was cool but sort of disconcerting with those "busts" staring at me, but the ballroom. Oh well if I had my choice where I could get stuck I would love to be in the attic scene, so much to see and so little time in there LOL!

Jen, you crack me up!! It's a good anticipation

Okay see those are the moments I live for...that is way too cool yet completely and utterly heart stopping. I had a CM on the last trip walk right behind me and I was too focused on looking at the potraits and right in my ear said step to the "dead" center of the room. Needless to say I was scared sensless and I think he was amused by it!!! LOL!!!!

We are going to have a blast riding this together at Gnomefest...much trouble and much spookage will be had. I've been working on my event and the best way to show you all how I see the Haunted Mansion LOL

I have to agree with you TK a trip to Disney would not be Disney for me if I skipped the Haunted Mansion. It doesn't have to be my first ride of the trip but at some point I do have to ride on it and thorougly enjoy my time.

Great update!!!! Can't wait to read more. I had a friend that worked at Disneyland, and she had told me some secrets about the HM at Disneyland but I don't remember them too well. But i know there is a bullet hole in the plastic/glass that overlooks the ghosts dancing and there is a story behind that. Wonder if you know?

Mucinex is the only thing that helped me when I had it. I love that stuff! Not like I have problem with it or anything, :rotfl2: it just
really loosened everything up. <------Look! Trixie ended a sentence with a preposition. Bad Trixie!

Looking forward to more this weekend!

Jen..... Hope you feel better soon! My DS 14 is very sick, too. In fact, I have been home with him today. That's how sick he is. Only highlight of the day was making my ADR's for my June trip! Today is my 90 day! It took 1 1/2 hours to complete the ADR process, but I got a Le Cellier dinner and a Fantasmic dinner pckg. So, I guess it was worth the wait. Listened to the sound track of HM about 3 times while on hold! :rotfl:

Sigh!! Well another week and only one update, this is becoming a pattern that I do not like LOL!!! Although this week I had a really good reason, I was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection, it was not pretty. However at this point I’m feeling much better, still fighting the cough and stuffy nose, but I will take that over the other things I dealt with early this week. So without further ado….I figured it was Friday the 13th…I mean could I possibly pass that up…nope I couldn’t LOL!!! Part 2 of the Haunted Mansion chapter 13 posted on Friday the 13th LOL!!!! Someone somewhere loves that I love the Haunted Mansion!

The last time we had been suddenly detained by ghosts that were up to no good as we had FINALLY boarded the doombuggy. I’d like to kindly remind you that on this journey I need you to keep your hands and your feet inside the doombuggy at all times and “please no flash photography, our ghosts are sensitive to bright lights.”

As the doombuggy creeps along the “Ghost” host gladly begins to tell us about the grand tour we are about to embark on. Our first scenes of the Haunted Mansion are a dark and creepy hallway with beautiful works of art hung on the wall with care. It’s only in the middle of a thunderstorm when lightning strikes that you realize there is more to these pictures than meets the eye. I’m not sure which picture I enjoy the most, the horseman or the Lady Medusa; I really think the Medusa one would look great in my office at home.

Then we are quietly, shhh don’t wake the spirits yet, escorted into a library. Upon first inspection all seems normal, until we notice books that move by themselves. We are told from our “Ghost” host that the library is filled with classics all by ghost writers of course. At this point, Nobby interjected carefully, he didn’t want to scare me out of my reverie and asked if I felt like I was being watched. Well I had to be honest, for some reason I always feel like I’m being watched while in the library, it’s quite odd. Do any of you ever get that feeling???

While it would be amazing for the ride to stop at that point and let me off to explore the library a little more, it wasn’t meant to be and we must continue on with our tour. Turns out the spirits are a bit restless this evening so there will be no time for us to stop and gawk on this trip. As we glide through the darkness you can hear the faint sounds of a piano playing in the background, it keeps getting louder and louder, until you are in the middle of a music parlor, but there’s no one at the piano and yet it’s being played. How is this possible? I whispered to Nobby to look down at the ground for a surprise, and sure enough Nobby figured out exactly how that piano was playing LOL!!! I have to tell you one of the things I enjoy most about this ride is the attention to detail, have you ever taken the time to really look at the back scene behind that piano??? If you haven’t you should, I’m always amazed how even the outside of the mansion looks from the inside. Now after the music parlor, we enter into a new part of the mansion that I had yet to see the mysterious staircases. However I have to be carefully listening or I’ll miss my cue, you see at this time right before you enter the staircases, our “Ghost” host as a very important question to which I always answer. He advertises that this sanctuary for the immortal souls now has 999 residents, but there’s room for 1000, any volunteers?? Well no matter what is going on around me, I make sure to make it very clear to the “Ghost” host that I AM the 1000th volunteer and that I get first dibs, that’s right people that spot is taken and its taken by me. Nobby was a bit miffed by this because he wanted to volunteer too, but I told him Gnome Ghosts go stay at “It’s a Small World,” I’m not sure whether the look he gave me was of pure pleasure or the look of dastardly deeds being plotted to help me along my way to becoming the 1,000 volunteer a little sooner. I really liked the addition of the staircases I thought it was well done, maybe a bit Hogwartsy but I was okay with that.

Okay so the joke is if they really need to find me a spot at the Haunted Mansion they are more than welcome to do so right next to the guy who apparently doesn’t want in his coffin anymore. I don’t blame him I would be a bit claustrophobic too. Well this place has a name it is the Conservatory and the thing I like the most about this is the crow. The crow has a lot of symbolism in the Haunted Mansion, he shows up again during the séance scene. However I’d be willing to find a nice spot in the conservatory for my body. Passing through the conservatory I make sure Nobby and I wave to crow and then we’re on to the freakiest part of the Haunted Mansion to me….the Corridor of Doors. This hallway is just scary, first of all the walls stare at me…literally they stare at me, that is just absurd and I get the chills. Then the doors shake and rattle and I’m always convinced there is something behind the doors that is going to come out to get me. Then the never-ending hallway with the floating candelabra and the Ghostly knight all gets me right where horror should. Not to mention the 13th hour clock…okay anyone else notice the huge hand that is coming out of the shadows towards you as you go by that clock…if you haven’t next time you go by it take a look…its going to get you LOL!!!

Finally the “Ghost” host takes to a chilly room, Nobby looked at me kind of strange and then the look changed to one of horror when he heard the voice. Oh yes the amazingly haunting voice of Madame Leota who is having a ghostly séance of her own. She calls out to the darkness and the spirits around her to give her a sound. Okay so you want to know what I find the creepiest of this scene, it’s the Madame herself. Next time you ride, listen yes my friends listen very closely and see where you have heard that voice before, because if you are a true Disney fan then yes you have heard that voice before. Okay well I’m going to put you out of your misery (LOL Pun #2), it’s the voice of Maleficent…yes that’s right they have a Sleeping Beauty reference in my all time favorite ride, does it get any better than that. As far as I am concerned you don’t get scarier or meanier that Maleficent she is evil incarnate and she’s in the Haunted Mansion and that just terrifies me. Madame Leota is channeling her inner demon and she sounds like Maleficent yeah I’m not sure I want to go and further at this point in the ride. Then the real fun begins….

The “Ghost” host takes his leave of us and we are invited to a haunted celebration. You have to love the ballroom scene. There is so much to notice and I don’t even know if I have even seen it all, but I do try. Some special ghost is celebrating a birthday, while Julius Caesar attends, and another ghost is passed out under the table. Dancers twirl in and out in a dance that lasts for all time and if you’re lucky you might find a few ghosts hanging out on the chandeliers. Although my favorite ghosts have to be the dueling ones, watch for them in their portraits the next time you ride. The music of this scene is probably its most notable feature. The organ, an exact replica of Capt. Nemo’s from the 20,000 Leagues under the Sea (You have to love the way Disney makes sure to honor its past) is the centerpiece of the ballroom and gives it the eerie feel.

From the “Grand Hall” we are introduced to another new part of the Haunted Mansion. Well technically its not new, the attic scene has always been there, but not like this. I have always been memorized by the attic scene and all the lore behind it. I mean once upon a time you could see a light go by the window in the attic and the lore was it was the ghost bride waiting for her groom. So many stories have come from the attic alone, and now Disney had given that bride a name, Constance. I was really really excited to get my first glimpse of the newly done attic scene. If there was a place that I wish the ride would pause and allow me to you know get off and explore it would be that new attic scene. It was completely delightful and I love the attention to detail…anyone else notice the difference between each wedding portrait, well besides the new husband involved in each one LOL!!!! I was greatly impressed with the attic scene and would love just 30 minutes to explore in there someday!

The last part of the ride is the “descent” into the graveyard. I just love the grave keeper and his dog they are classics in my book. The popping up ghosts doesn’t scare me and I simply adore the singing busts. Talk about a song you don’t mind getting stuck in your head. I could listen to that song all day!! I also enjoy finding the hidden Mickey in the graveyard…if you’d like to know where to look let me know I’ll give you a hint LOL!!! It’s a great find!!!! I think my favorite ghost in the graveyard is the opera singer being hung by her hair, which is just great!!!

Well like all good things, even the Haunted Mansion must come to an end. As we exit the graveyard, our “ghost” host returns and we are informed that we would be going home with a guest until our next trip there. I love this part it’s always a great time to find out which hitchhiking ghost you are going home with. Nobby loved this part he thought it was great and wanted to know how he could become a hitchhiking ghost LOL!! I told him to stick to being a traveling gnome for now he could change life paths one someone else’s trip LOL!!

Then of course Nobby and I had to wave to Little Leota has we left and her wonderful rendition of “Hurry Back, Hurry Back” and “Next time don’t forget to bring your “death” certificate. LOL!! Great lines I really enjoy them!!! And all too soon our ride was done and we were exiting the ride back into the sunshine, boy was it bright outside. I love the end of the line area for this ride also. You all know how much I love a great pun so nothing beats the mausoleums.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0544-1.jpg

And of course I must pay my respects to the dear wives of Blackbeard, even if the last one did do him in.

http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp4/jenjolt/DSCF0545-1.jpg

And wouldn’t you know it that in my Haunted Mansion stupor that once again I forgot to take a picture of the pet cemetery…but it was okay at the time because I would definitely be back. And that is my adventure at the Haunted Mansion. I hope you have found a new appreciation for this ride if you didn't already love it as much as I do!! I just love love love this ride and the magic it represents.

At this point it was starting to get a bit crowded for my taste at the Magic Kingdom so I was ready to make my hop over to DHS.

So next time my friends, we will discuss my afternoon at DHS and a loverly lunch at Hollywood Brown Derby.

GREAT GREAT GREAT episode..... you know the part with the doors and the clock and the hand, well when I was a pre-teen I went to Disneyland with two of my cousins, and one of the "ghosts (cast members)" did reach out and touch us, we never screamed so loud, I think he grabbed my cousins hand or something, so creepy fun. :rotfl:
