So, this is our first pre-trip report, and we are starting it waaaaay in advance. Well. It's never too early, right? That's what I thought. First, let me introduce our characters!
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/CopyofDSC00642.jpg
Courtney (jewels1916 - ME!) - A southern girl at heart, having grown up in Texas, but I am currently in the VA/DC area for work and play. Just finished my graduate degree at GWU, and I work as an online communications consultant for non-profit groups.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC00423.jpg
Kelly (kellbelle0618) - Another southern girl, but with roots in Ohio! Kelly is currently teaching 6th grade English in North Texas, and is busy planning her wedding to her amazing Fiance Brad. After the wedding, she will be moving to San Antonio. She is a mommy to two adorable puppies, Izzie and Lexi.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC00798.jpg
We met in choir at Oklahoma State University where we were both working on our bachelors' degrees. And even though we've graduated and live far away from each other, we are still best friends.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC00431.jpg
Ever since we've known each other we've talked about taking a trip together. Many, many ideas have been tossed around and finally, finally we've settled on one. Seeing as how we are both card-carrying Mouse Junkies, we decided that the most logical place for us to go was The World!
We've begun planning our trip for the first week of December (3rd-8th, tentatively). For the end of 2009, and we will have a myriad of things (yes, I like big words!) that we will be celebrating, and we decided to start our PTR as a way to chronicle, document, and share the things we will be celebrating - the things that we know are happening (weddings, cross-country moves, new jobs) and the surprises that happen between now and then! Kelly and I will both be posting on here as we count down to our long-awaited No Boys Allowed Disney trip!
So, away we go with 2 Chicks and a Mouse!

Welcome! Thanks for joining! We are both very excited about this trip. The only time I've ever been to WDW with a friend was when I went for a dance competition in HS, needless to say I think this is going to be great!:upsidedow

Thanks for joining, and welcome! I've never been at Christmas time, but it is my favorite time of the year. So, why not combine the two? I was there in September this year when it was decorated for Halloween, and it was amazing. If the Christmas decorations are even half that is it going to great! :upsidedow

Hey, cool GUD start (I don't use big words). :sad2: I'll hang around, if I'm allowed anyway.
December seems like a great time to go. The only non-great thing I've heard about early Dec is the pop warner days. If you are flexable, you may want to research those dates. ;)

Great! Welcome to the fray! Yeah, I have worried about the Pop Warner days a bit, which is why the my dates are tentative. We are planning on using frequent flyer miles to get out to Florida, so we will have to watch that though. :) Thanks for joining!! And of course you are allowed. Sounds like a great way to spend a milestone b-day! My b-day is just at a weird time for me to go...April. Boo...perhaps when I turn 25....I am trying to convince my mother to do something super fun for that year, for the two of us, because it is our 1/2 b-days! By 1/2 I mean....25/50. I turn 25 and she turns 50 within a month of each other...needless to say I am more in a partying spirit about it than she is...and I've been harassing her about it since I was 16! ;)

Ok, I would like to state that it took NO convincing on my part to get Kelly to agree to this trip. Infact, I would like to submit into evidence the conversation that took place.
Courtney's facebook status says: Courtney is ready to go back to Disney World!
Kelly replies: I'll go to Disney World with you.
Courtney: I kinda want to go in December. It's not too crowded, from what I hear, and I would love to see all the Christmas decorations. Are you sure you want to go then, so soon after you and Brad get married and you move off to San Antonio?
Kelly: He won't mind. I'll ask him. I don't really like him that much anyways. *calls Brad (I was not privy to this conversation).
Kelly: He says it's ok with him! He ordered me the planning video!
So, that is how this all came about! And, if it's in italics, I made it up. The rest is ALL true! :)
Onward! (I'm watching Pirates of the Carribbean right now pirate: ) You've met the characters, how about some details?
Details: Well, the trip is slated for December, right now the dates we are looking at are the 3rd-8th. I am waiting on the dates of Pop Warner to be released until we finalize.
Next stop, resorts.
We decided that to work out a budget, we would choose one resort in each category, and figure out approximate costs. Then, based on those numbers, we would make our decision.
Value:
Pop Century - Neither of us have stayed there, Kelly hasn't even been to WDW since it was opened, and it looks like fun.
Moderate:
Port Orleans French Quarter - This was a tough one. I haven't stayed in any of the moderate resorts, so it took a loooong time to weigh the pros and cons. Kelly mentioned that her Mom had stayed at Dixie Landings back in the day, and really enjoyed it.
Deluxe:
Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kelly and I both thought this resort looked like a lot of fun. My personal favorite that I have stayed in is the Wilderness Lodge, and I would go back in a heart beat, but since it is my goal to stay at all the resorts I can't have any repeats until I have!
So those are the three resorts that we looked at. Based on budgeting, we've decided to stay at POFQ. Though....we may consider upgrading based on what discounts are available for the time we are going. We're hoping for the free dining. She and I both are Disney Visa cardholders so we want to take advantage of that. We are also looking at using frequent flyer miles. The more we knock of the trip, the better!
POFQ looks great, which is why we've decided on that one! Neither of us have ever even been to the resort, and I have been scouring the web looking at all the pics, and especially the Christmas ones. I am sooo excited! I could probably stay in a cardboard box just inside the big Welcome to Disney World sign and be happy. *sigh*
*ok, I just have to note that I took a brief hiatus from working on this post because Kelly was sending me pics of the two wedding dresses she is trying to decide between. :)
This has been a picture-less post! That's not any fun!! So how about a few of my favorite pictures from past Disney trips? (these will probably appear every once in a while!)

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC00145.jpg
DMom and Me - Figment is her favorite!
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC00304.jpg
DDad - Poor Dad. We do this to him a lot, putting hats on him. He's such a good sport. :)
And...just for a change of pace....a Court and Kells pic!
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC00041.jpg
Kelly and I are in the process of narrowing down our list of restaurants that we want to go to. We've decided to each make a list of the restaurants that we want to eat at, and the top 5 that match will be the ones that we try and make our ADRs for. Any suggestions? You see our lists coming up next!
Good night!

Good times in Tulsa. It's funny that you talk about going to Stilly for the weekends, we used to LEAVE Stilly for the weekends, head out to Tulsa or OKC where there were things like, a mall, or a decent movie theatre...:)
You'll have to let me know if you decide to go to a game! We could all catch up!

Ah! I have missed Disboards. My apartment has been a disaster zone for the past two days, so I haven't opened the computer. Disboards causes me to sometimes neglect other things that I need to get done...:rolleyes1 I believe I mentioned in my first post that Kells and I would be celebrating a big move? That would be mine. I've been living and working in the VA/DC area for over two years now, and working on my Master's degree. Well, I graduated in July, and am missing Texas (and all that that entails) in a big way. So, in March, I am packing up and moving the 1300 miles back to the Lone Star State!
This weekend, in order to start preparing for the big move (here on out known as TBM) I began going through cabinets, closets, drawers and shelves and getting rid of stuff that I don't use/need and don't want to move. I am a big time packrat, so this took all of Friday evening, and all day Saturday.
Among the things that I was getting rid of I :
*donated over 80 books to the local library
*donated 4 large bags full of clothing to Goodwill
*donated one 3 drawer dresser to Goodwill and,
*had 12 bags of trash to haul to the dumpster
I also found a bunch of treasures that I had that I didn't even remember that I had.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01432.jpg
These are the most recent of my pin collection - I bought these in September when I was there with my parents celebrating graduation. My Master's is in Political Management, so I just couldn't pass up the "Vote" pin. The little pumpkin ring I bought for my sister and have yet to give it to her.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01433.jpg
This is the pin collection that I bought for Kells...back in 2006. And I've never given it to her. Something to look forward to, Miss K!
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01434.jpg
These are the FPs that we DIDN'T USE when we were at WDW in September! The lines were so short that we didn't even need them!! It was incredible.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01435.jpg
My mother bought this for me in WS in September. In case you can't tell, it's Belle and Beast dancing.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01440.jpg
This is probably the funniest thing that I found, and I found it under the bathroom cabinet. What was in it, you might ask?
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01438.jpg
Disney soap! This is the soap that I have pilfered from my resorts at my past few stays. I was :rotfl2: when I found this!
To round this off, this is a photo of the Disney planning corner (well, it's really my chill corner, but it currently serves as Disney planning corner,) and where I happen to be sitting right now.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01441.jpg
And of course, my Disney guides. Must-haves, as we all know.

I am too. And my roomies think it's funny.
I had a minor freak out about this trip this weekend. I found out this weekend that my cousin Josh has set his wedding date for the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In Mexico. :scared1: Oh no! How was I supposed to afford a trip to Mexico, and take time off work, and then turn around and have a trip to WDW and take time off from work for that as well? Oh no! But, it is ok. Apparently, most of the family is thinking that the timing is just not good for them, so we will celebrate when they return from their honeymoon. Phew. I was worried for a few minutes there. Josh (my senior by 4 years) proposed to Sara at Christmas, infront of the whole family. It was really very sweet, and he was very nervous. I have a large and in charge family, of which I am the most quiet, so for Josh to be as quiet as he was that night, I am surprised none of us knew something was up. It just shows you how loud we can be, that we made up with excess noise of our own. Anyway, we opened gifts, and then my Dad, who plays Santa every year brought out one more and handed it to Sara. The all of a sudden Josh gets down on one knee. He messed up what he was going to say :upsidedow and we all laughed, which in hindsight wasn't very nice, but then he started over, and she said yes. It was nice. And I have one pic. My cousin Misty was playing with her new video camera and got the whole thing on video! So lucky for them, I think it is rare to get a proposal video taped, since usually it is a more intimate thing. (I assume...I've never been proposed to.) Kelly! You should tell the story of your proposal! And share some of the photos! That's a great story. Here is Josh proposing.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/propose.jpg
His wedding will make me the oldest un-married grandchild in the family...no pressure....
All of my Gma's grandchildren still go by the Grandkids, Josh being the oldest, and my sister, at age 17 being the youngest. I am 5th in line, as far as blood relatives, although now everyone older than me is coupled, so it pushes me farther down in the line of succession. Remember when you were a kid and there was a kid's table for Thanksgiving? Yeah...we still do that. All...15 or 20 of us (I've lost count now) still squeeze around the kids' table, and are now joined by my cousin Larissa(same age as Josh)'s two little boys.
Ooo...I think I went off on a tangent...apologies...but it all started with this wedding which is attempting to mess up my trip plans, so it all works out in the end.
Suffice it to say, the wedding has not changed any plans for No Boys Allowed Disney 09!

Yay, I'm caught up! The picture of your dad wearing the Princess hat is hilarious, I was cracking up!
Good luck with TBM. I, too, am a huge pack rat, and have a few large totes stored down in my cellar with stuff that I found and put away while doing a huge overhaul on my room. Those totes don't include all the clothes and things that I donated. Honestly, the next time my aunt has a yard sale, I'm thinking of asking her to sell the stuff in those totes, because I can't remember what's in them, and if I haven't missed any of it in all this time, I'm sure I won't later on.
I love all the pilfered soap! :rotfl: And the picture of your cousin proposing, awwww.
Looking forward to more!

Yeah, my Dad. He tolerates it. What can I say I am his princess: or at least one of them. I didn't even realize, but I think in every single one of the Disney pics I put in that post, we are all wearing hats. It's kinda our thing.
Anyway, welcome to the fray!

I am enjoying your PTR, and am so glad I am not the only one who wants to start a PTR a year in advance, LOL. (I'll be starting it real soon).
I saw the vote Grumpy shirts in October and was sooo tempted. But I didn't.
As far as the restaurants go, I have a few recommendations, with a couple of them being off the beaten path, so to speak:
Magic Kingdom: Crystal Palace (okay, not so off the beaten path, but it is always a solid choice)
Epcot: Princess Storybook for breakfast--it really is an awesome breakfast!!!
Resorts: Grand Floridian Cafe--you can almost always get a reservation here, and it is a beautiful restaurant that imo, gets overshadowed by the other restaurants at the Grand Floridian.
For counter service:
Magic Kingdom: Cosmic Ray's
POR: Take a walk from POFQ to POR to see Riverside Mill--it's worth it
Epcot: Visit some of the beverage booths if you are able--the Grey Goose Slush is awesome
Animal Kingdom: Flame Tree Barbeque--enough said ;)
Looking forward to reading more :)

Welcome aboard!! I saw the Vote Grumpy shirts when I was there in September!! I had too abstain as well, but couldn't resist the pin. Thanks for the great ADR suggestions. I loooove Crystal Palace. It's definitely a favorite. Haven't been to the others. And you can bet we will be sampling some of the adult beverages at WS!

I have been a planning machine tonight!! Well....not so much planning as making a few changes to the plan and coming up with several options!
Kelly and I have been kicking around the idea of driving, as a way to alleviate some of the cost (thanks, DisneyFan71 for putting the idea in my head!) The drive for she and I would be 17 hours, which is a loooong drive. But neither of us are strangers to long drives...I've driven to DC from Dallas, and will be driving the reverse soon enough, and Kelly drives all over the place, Dallas to Ohio, Dallas to Destin....
We've also been playing with the number of days that we are going to be gone. There are some rumors floating around that they may resurrect the 4/3 deal for the Fall value season, so we are playing around with some different days. Here is what we've come up with.
Scenario 1: This is the original.
Fly down Thursday (Dec. 3) night, hit the parks Friday-Tuesday, fly back Tuesday night (Dec. 8). (Miss 3 days of work.)
Scenario 2: 5 park days.
Driving - leave around 11am Saturday (Dec. 5) drive all day, through the night - (we have faith that we can do this!!) Arrive at POFQ around 6pm, check in, have dinner....SLEEP! Parks Mon-Fri, check out and leave 5am Saturday morning, arrive home after midnight Saturday night/Sunday morning. Have Sunday to recoup. (Miss 5 days of work)
Scenario 3: 7 park days.
Fly down am Sunday (Dec. 6) Park Sun-Sat. Fly back pm Saturday (Dec. 12) Have Sunday to recoup. (Miss 5 days of work)
Scenario 4: 7 park days. (this one sounds the most unrealistic)
Driving - Leave 5am Saturday (Dec 6), drive all day, arrive after midnight Saturday night/Sunday morning. Sleep in, go to parks Sun-Sat. Check out Sunday (Dec. 13) 5am, drive home - arrive after midnight.
(Miss 5 days of work)
Driving saves between $150-$200 apiece. Plus, we actually like road trips. Probably because we like to sing really LOUDLY in the car. Plus, we would be able to bring our own food/beverages and plently of room for luggage, and it would give us a car at the parks just in case we wanted one.
So, here I am, trusty calculator in hand trying to figure out what really is the best deal. 17 hours just sounds like a really, really long drive.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
I have a few pics of Disney at Halloween to share!!

I can honestly tell you from working in the airline industry, flying in December can be quite expensive..not trying to discourage you or anything. But if you can get your tickets in advance, go for it. Then again you never know what the airlines will do :)
If it means having more days in the park and flying, go for it. But if it means saving money, then by all means do that too.
With two of us flying it is more expensive; somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 or cheaper. I'm looking at Southwest right now as well as Airtran to see if we CAN get a cheaper flight.
The good thing about driving, we can leave Saturday morning, drive all day and stop outside Disney and then get up EARLY Sunday morning, check in to our hotel and have a full day!!!

Guess what???
We're BOOKED!! Yes, I just got off the phone with the Disney Reservations and Kelly and I have booked our December trip! We made a few changes along the way...
I first have to say that we decided to go on this trip under the assumption that there would be some sort of discount, because there seems to always be some sort of discount during value season. If we get to September and we still aren't seeing anything, we will shorten the length of our stay. But here it is....drum roll please! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
Booked: December 5th-12th 2009 at Port Orleans French Quarter + DDP
Must...change...ticker....
Ah...life is good. It always feels like it is more official once the trip is actually booked, and you can get on with the other plans. Which is what I am off to now. :)

Our dining list is waaaay to long! We need some help paring it down. One thing I am concerned about with Tutto Italia is that I heard they were going to be doing some major refurbishing of it this year, but I don't know when! So...we may not get to go there.
Kelly says it looks like all we will be doing is eating. I think it looks like all we are going to be doing is drinking! If you look at that list....ha ha ha. I was giving her a hard time about it. But we will be sampling some of the beverages at various places, especially at World Showcase. :)

More preparations for TBM ensued this weekend (notice my new ticker?!) There is now an official date for TBM, March 15th! It's rapidly approaching, and I am realizing that I have more and more to do for it. I am really not the biggest fan of moving. :(
I spent almost all day yesterday en route to the bridal shop to pick up my bridesmaid dress for the wedding that I am in in April. Of course the only dress shop (for this particular designer) was 2.5 hours away, so that took pretty much all day. Here is a photo of the dress, although it's not green and pink, it's black and pink.

In other news, Kelly and I are kind of at a standstill for Disney planning, because now that we have booked, we are going over restaurants and attractions, and coming up with lists of what we want to make sure to hit, as well as a list of goals that we want to accomplish while we are there.
Plus with my TBM planning, and her wedding planning...we've just got alot going on!!
Here are a few more pics of past Disney trips!

The Great Movie Chain!
Well, here goes. When Kelly and I were in college(all of like, 3 years ago) we used to have what we call "lazy days." On these lazy days we would get together either at her place or mine in our sweats, usually at like 9am. And we would watch movies all day long. And eat junk. Yay, I miss those days. Anyway, to solve the age old question of what movie to watch, we created The Movie Chain. Simply put, it was a list of movies, each one having to somehow relate to the one before it.
Rules and Regulations
1) Each movie must somehow relate, or link, to the movie that comes before it in the list, either in theme, location, cast, or symbolism
2) The last movie of the movie chain must link to the first movie
3) Participants in The Great Movie Chain must not watch one of the movie chain movies out of order or without the other participant until the chain has been completed
4) Movie chains shall be no longer than 10 movies - this is a new rule because we never, ever get through the whole movie chain - I think we got through maybe half of the one in the photo
In honor of our impending reunion (Kelly and I have not seen each other in almost a year, but once I move back, she and I will be only like 20 minutes apart!) we've put together a new movie chain that we intend on starting once I have moved back to Texas. It also helps with the fact that we are working on saving for the trip, and we know that we have things to do instead of going out!
The NEW GREAT MOVIE CHAIN:
1) SATC
--Fancy shoes major part in the movie (symbolism)
2) Devil Wears Prada
--Meryl Streep
3) Mamma Mia
--Amanda Seyfried
4) Mean Girls
--Tina Fey
5) Baby Mama
--Steve Martin
6) Father of the Bride
--Steve Martin
7) Cheaper By The Dozen
--Piper Parebo
8) Coyote Ugly
--John Goodman
9) Evan Almighty
--Molly Shannon
10) Serendipity
--Which brings us back to SATC with the NY setting, plus Molly Shannon
and Bridget Moynahan both guest starred in SATC when it was on TV!
It's actually really fun, and solves that age old question of "What do we watch?" As if movie watching wasn't entertainment enough, it makes it a game....

I know. It's really sad. And no, you don't get the luxury of wearing a dress that I have already bought. Believe me when I say that I will be dragging you from store to store and making you try on dress after dress after dress. And there might even be puffed sleeves and large hats involved. (Don't worry, I won't be choosing dresses with matching hats and puffed sleeves, just making you try them on so that I can take incriminating photos.) :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I am so excited to find yalls PTR!!! Where to start...I'm super excited you went to OSU--I'm born and raised in OK and two of my favorite cousins went to OSU. I loved visiting. I went to college in Dallas--Yay for Texas!!! My husband is from San Antonio--where are you moving? And I just love everything about TX and OK. :) I also think the idea of a girls only trip would be awesome. Some of my friends and I want to eventually... The closest thing I've gotten to that was a girls and PawPaw trip (my mom, sis, me, aunt, cousin, her 2 girls, grandma, and grandpa) a couple of years ago. It was great! I can't wait to read all about your plans. Your restaurants sound good. I'm the same way--I planned everything within a couple of weeks. Now we're just waiting it out. 7 months is a long way away. But I love the PTR so far! :)

Oh--I remembered what else I was going to say. I know you have your ressie--so exciting by the way--but have you thought about renting points from a DVC owner? We're actually SAVING over $200 by staying at Animal Kingdom Villas rather than POP!!! We have a Value Studio Villa (those either face the pool or savannah) for $80/night weeknights and $160/night for our one weekend night. Just a thought. And you can get the DP with it. I'd be happy to give you the info if you're interested. :) Even if you don't use it this trip, you might look into it for next time.

You can find a piont chart at http://www.dvcbyresale.com/chart.php/Animal%20Kingdom Then you can click on the other resorts (right above the charts). This shows you how many points you need to ask to rent. Then, on DIS you go to "DVC Rent/Trade" under "Disney Vacation Club" heading (on the main page). From there, you can look to see who has points you need (anyone can rent to you 7 months from the time you want to stay there, but only a person whose "home" is at your desired resort can rent to you 11 mo in advance). It's really helpful to read the intro threads. If you don't see anything you want (points usually rent for $9-11 pp) you can start your own thread--follow the guides in the intro threads. I had offers within a week. I got my points for $10 pp. So we're staying at AKV for $560 for 6 nights! :) It sounds confusing, but it's not bad once you get started. I don't think we'll ever go to Disney without renting points again! :)

I agree. Moving is such a pain. I do like going through all my stuff though. It feels good to clean house. When we moved from Kansas to Texas our stuff weighed 10,000 pound!!:scared1: Can you imagine?
Our last move in Texas we managed to get done in two Uhauls!:thumbsup2
I finally got rid of things that I just really did need in my life anymore, and especially the things that I kept around by didn't really like, or wished were different. I have added to the household since them.:rolleyes1:
Anyway, I wish you well on all that moving jazz. I relate.
You know that I know how you feel about driving. I am facing a similar drive in June! Southwest released the dates recently, the cheapest airfare each way was $129. Which isn't too bad, but with 3 in our family... Personally, I'm kind of looking forward to the road trip. Am I weird like that?:confused3
I'm looking forward to the ease of packing. Plus, there is something about road trips and the conversations. I think y'all will have a blast on the road. I vote for the road trip!:goodvibes

Hi Rabbit! I am really not looking forward to the move. Looking forward to it being over, but not looking forward to the whole packing, moving, unpacking business of it. I'll live though. I am going to have to hire movers. That's just the only way I can do it. I don't think I can drive a uhaul.
****
In other news....we are officially 10 months away from our trip. I know, sounds so far away that it is lame to get excited, but as of tomorrow, our months will be single digits. Ha ha.
It has been in the teens and twenties, weatherwise here. Sooo cold....brrr...
Wishing I was in Florida. Or Texas. :)
In TBM news, I did an inventory of everything that I am going to be moving. Well, not a detailed one, more of a walk-through. The "official" one will come later. But I came to the conclusion that I have way too much furniture. Isn't it amazing that you think you need stuff, and then when it comes time to move it, it seems like the stuff you thought you needed has suddenly multiplied by 20?
I've become addicted to looking for Disney stuff on ebay. I ordered some pins that just came in, and I will put some pics up later. I also found a tank top on ebay (new, tags on) that I thought was cute. The asking bid was $3.50, and the shipping was free. So I bid on it. It was a while ago, and I completely forgot about it until I got an email today that said I had won my little tank top with a Tinkerbell sillhouette for $3.50. Anyway. It's become an addiction, so I have to stay off ebay now. Plus, I am moving!! I don't need to bring more things into this apartment!
That's my update. I am still waiting on my planning dvd, and getting annoyed about it. Other than that, I have been spending some time on the dining boards, have you visited those? All I can say is don't go through the food pics thread unless you've already eaten! Otherwise, you will be soooo hungry!

I don't have an Ebay account and it's probably good that I don't because just from reading that it made me want to go search for Disney stuff!:rotfl2: What a great deal you got on the tank top though!

Ok I just have to share this with you guys because I am really excited. My fiance and I have been tossing around the idea of having a disney honeymoon. (we are getting married in September). Well I open my email box today and there it is.....a pin code.....for the exact window of time Brad and I would be at Disney if we go. Free dining (I'm sure some of ya'll been hearing about that pin on the site today.) :cheer2: So now I am seriously trying to convince Brad that his is a sign and while he is excited, he doesn't understand why getting a pin code is such a big deal and why we need to hurry and jump on it. :scared:

Just a quick little TBM update.
Called the movers this weekend. Apparently, all the stuff in my apartment is going to weigh just over 2,000 lbs to move. I'm not sure whether to be surprised or not. It isn't going to cost nearly as much as I thought it was, which makes me happy. So, the movers have been called...and they are coming March 14th. The original plan was for the movers to come and my mother (who is flying up to help me pack and the drive back with me) and I would leave on the 15th. Well, I think that if the movers arrive early enough on the 14th, we are just going to leave on the 14th. I'm ready to get going. I am giving notice at work on Friday, which makes me nervous just because it's something I've never done before and I think it will come as a surprise to my boss. But I keep reminding myself that they have experienced this before, so I should just get over it and do it. Heh.
I made another payment on the Disney trip this weekend as well. Kelly and I also spent some time doing Disney math this weekend (the best kind!) to see what it would cost if we wanted to upgrade. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for 4/3 in December. Here's hoping!
Anyway, TBM is taking up most of my time right now, but just for one more quick update...Kelly and I have been working to lose some weight for...a while. I have since early January, and I hit my first goal last week! 15 pounds! Wahoo! The idea of this is that we are working to lose weight for the weddings, and summer stuff, but also, our reward is this Disney trip (where, according to our restaurant lists we will be gaining it all back). So, we are sticking to the diet and working out hard so that when we go, we will feel like we have 100% earned the trip. I mean...we will have paid for it, so we'll go anyway, but you get the idea. So, I just wanted to share my happy news with you all!

I'm glad that TBM is not going to cost you as much as you thought it was. That's always such a huge relief.
I've worked at the same place for a little over 7 years, so I haven't had to deal with giving notice at work, either, but I'm sure you'll do fine -- I would be nervous too. Just keep reminding yourself that they have dealt with it before. ;)
WOOHOO for the weight loss!! That's awesome! I think that my boyfriend and I are going to start trying to lose weight together. I'm hoping it will be easier if I am doing it with someone else. I'm going to wait until after the trip to really start getting into it, though, because I'm sure not going to lose anything when I'm down there. :rotfl:

Thanks! Yeah, it's a huge relief that TBM is less expensive. More money to spend at WDW!! :rotfl:
The weight loss thing is definitely easier if you do it with someone, or at least have someone to hold you accountable for what you do and eat. Kelly and I are doing that for each other, being each other's support for it. Cause losing weight is hard!! But when I get to go to WDW in December and not have to worry about what I am eating, it's all going to be worth it! :woohoo:

Hm....well, if cost weren't an option, I think that I would upgrade to either GF with a theme park view, or CR with a theme park view. I know I've already stayed at CR, and I've said that I won't repeat until I've stayed at them all, but....we stayed in the garden wing, and I would really like to stay in the main building. We've also talked about upgrading to AKL. I think it looks awesome. But...it all depends on what kind of discounts they release for December. We may have to push the trip back a week :headache: if our dates are blacked out, which we've heard rumors that they might be...
Oh, and TBM is The Big Move. :)

Just wanted to drop in and tell everyone Happy Valentine's Day
and give you all a quick update. Yesterday (Friday) I gave my notice at work! Which, for me, makes this whole, moving back to Texas official! It was more emotional for me than I thought it was going to be, but then again, I shouldn't be surprised. I have honestly loved working at my firm, have great friends, great clients, and a spectacular boss. I am truly sad to leave it all, but I know that this move is going to be the best for me. Anyway, hope you are all having a wonderful Valentine's Day!!

Thanks to all of you for the kind words! I am getting more and more excited about TBM as it approaches. I spent my day off (Yay, President's Day) running around getting things done that need to be done before I leave VA, such as cancel the gym membership and the Palm Beach Tan membership. I also got my car washed (of course now it is snowing today, and they've put salt down. So much for my clean car!) and went running. I am training for this 5K that I am going to be running with a friend after I get back to Texas. Of course, in the middle of my run, my ipod, which I've had for two years, decided to die. It was a sad moment. But, I bought it used so it is at least 4 years old - a nice long life, I think. Especially with how much abuse it takes from me. So, I felt justified in getting a new one. I bought myself a brand-new ipod nano on Monday. It's purple and lovely, and I am enjoying it immensely. I spent a good portion of Monday evening updating my playlists and everything on the new one.
I listen to music everywhere. The ipod travels with me to work, to the gym, I even have a dock that I can listen to it in the shower. So, needless to say, there was no way I was going to be driving 1300 miles without it in less than a month.
Speaking of a 1300 mile drive...that's a long drive. My Mom is flying up here to drive back with me, which is exciting. So, I am working on putting together a playlist for our roadtrip. We have a wide variety of taste, so there is a little bit of everything on it. Just to show you, I put it on shuffle and here at the first ten songs from that playlist:
Road Trip Must-Haves:
1) Honey, Honey - Mamma Mia soundtrack
2) Accidentally in Love - Counting Crows
3) Born to Hand Jive - Grease soundtrack
4) We Got the Beat - The Go-Gos
5) Fearless - Taylor Swift
6) Beathless - The Corrs
7) Razzle Dazzle - Chicago soundtrack
8) Life is a Highway - Rascal Flatts
9) Hurt So Good - John Mellancamp
10) Ohio (Come Back to Texas) - Bowling for Soup

Since we all seem to be planning trips...what are YOUR must-have Road Trip Tunes?
princess:
Well...we basically listen to Christian music. We LOVE Toby Mac. So we have to have that. We also like Gritts and KJ-52. Individual songs, I like Shackles by Mary Mary, Talk About it by Nicole C. Mullin, and I'll Join the Rocks by FFH. I was just thinking that it was time to beef up the tunes again, so I need to get thinking on this one...this is good.
I love to sing and have an alto voice. So I really enjoy anything Rita Springer.
DS really loves the sound of "Oh Johnny oh Johnny" from the Chronicles of Narnia. So I'm working on finding more of that sound for him.
Also kid-oriented, I'm thinking about getting the Magic Tree House Musical CD. We got single songs on a give-a-way that Wendy's did a while back and it sounds really good.
We really like listening to books as well. Not exactly a tune, but something to listen to. Many of the audio books are somewhat acted out, with sound effects and everything, so it's very entertaining.

I really enjoy the lead singers voice! I totally forgot Third Day! I LOVE his voice. WOW. Caedmon's Call did a colaboration with many others called City on a Hill. Ever listen to that one?
No, but I will check it out! I love the MercyMe compilation. And MercyMe themselves. :) The lead singer of Caedmon's Call does have a really great voice. I got to see them live once when they opened for Jars of Clay. I have a friend (well, exBF to be honest) who sings exactly like him. :)

Yeah, that is the single from her new CD. The whole cd is very good, if you are interested in listening to it! :)
Yes I'm interested in listening to it :) I have Rhapsody and once I get money in my account, I'll have to listen to it.
I know you're excited about TBM!!! How much longer before you leave for Texas? What part of TX are you going to? I don't think I remember seeing it.
Oh...I registered for the bartending class--I start Monday :) YAY!! So I won't be around much during the day. Good luck on TBM and PM me if you need anything.

I LOVE Jars of Clay. We go to see the Christmas concert they did with Third Day. We got all their autographs on their Christmas CD. They crack me up. College days are long past but DH and I used to be into Phish, Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead among many others but sometimes Jars of Clay reminds me of that kind of vibe...

Laugh at your Backstreet Boys? NEVER! DIE-hard N'SYNC fan right here!! When I was in middle school, it was practically all I listened to. And, when their "greatest hits" cd came out a few years ago, Kelly and I had a mini-dance party at her place. It's true. Not ashamed, at all. I think I am going to go download Rock the Casbah. I love the Clash, but I don't have that one. Fall Out Boy too. :lovestruc
I will def. post some more songs from my playlist. I love swapping tunes!
Oh, I'm so glad that you understand. :rotfl: I remember my dad calling them the "Back Door Boys" one time and I was so offended!! I'm probably going to have to check out that greatest hits CD on iTunes...I still have some credit on there from gift cards I got for Christmas... :scratchin I'm going to start making a list of songs that I see on here to find on iTunes.
I forgot to add "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen in my last post -- it is probably one of the most played songs on my "on the go" playlist (and probably one of the top played songs on my whole iPod) -- it's soooo much fun to sing along to.

The packing has commenced!
Well, my roommates are moving out this weekend. Can't say that I am completely sad to see them go, to be honest. I live with an engaged couple and it isn't really very fun. Bleh.
Anyway, since some of the bookshelves in the common areas of the apartment belong to them, I've started packing up a few of my things. I've filled three boxes of books and dvds right now, and still have some books and dvds not packed yet. :scared1: This is going to take a while. Anyway, once the roomies are out, I will have a completely empty second bedroom where I can stack boxes and other packing materials. I can't handle clutter everywhere, so having my place torn apart like this is really giving me a hard time. It affects my sleeping habits, among other things. Having a place to contain the clutter will make TBM so much easier.
Also on my to-do list for the weekend are:
1) Call comcast to discuss cancellation of service
2) Call power company to discuss cancellation of service
3) Clean out the inside of my car
4) Continue packing
Sounds like a super fun weekend, doesn't it?
In Disney news, Kelly and I are coming up with a few different plans based on different dates and possible discounts that may or may not be available in early December. It's become somewhat of a resort roulette game for us. More details on this later!
Hope you all have a fantabulous weekend, and I am off to tackle some more boxes! :flower3:

I am with you on not being able to deal with clutter -- it drives me CRAZY. My BF helped me rearrange my room a month and a half ago, so I had to take things off my shelves, my dresser, and my desk, and had all that crap on my bed and on the floor. Then, of course, when we were moving things, everything was everywhere and UGH. :headache: It drove me insane. When everything was moved, I had to put everything back in its place, and he kept on asking me why I couldn't just move only the stuff on my bed and put everything back the next day, but I wouldn't have been able to sleep knowing that all that STUFF was still there. I would have been up in the middle of the night putting it all back.
Good luck with all the packing! And I can't wait to hear more about the resort roulette.

Ha ha, thanks! Yeah, it's still a huge clutter, and I think I have just decided that it is going to stay that way until I am done packing. :headache: My bedroom at least is clean. If I keep that uncluttered for as long as possible, it will be a little better, so that I have somewhere I can escape to. I am well aquainted with packing and it's associated clutter.:scared:
The good news is that as you keep packing, there is less and less clutter!:cheer2: Especially if you have a room that you can put it all in.
One of the best things I do when packing for a move is to keep a running inventory of the boxes. I don't know how you mark your boxes, but I number mine and I make little notes of key items and what numbered box they go in. I keep it in my moving folder or whatever thing you are using to track all the paperwork/phone calls associated with moving. Like calling comcast, etc, getting the reference numbers for ending service, etc.
Even if you label your boxes by room, it helps to add a number to the room so that you can find those things that you really really want to find on the other end. Cuts down on so much clutter when you are unpacking.
Yay, for having no roommates as you deal with it all.:thumbsup2
If you haven't already, it's a worthy investment to get a pack of decent paper/plastic plates, bowls, and cups. It helps to face the kitchen blues of packing! Oh! And those microwaveable bags for cooking veggies? They have a Ziploc brand. They are pretty good. They work. Sometimes they overcook, but in general, that's a great time/cleaning saver too.::yes::

Courtney - Good luck on your move! That's great that you'll be back "home" and just a few minutes from Kelly again! I understand hating the actual moving part though. We moved something like seven times before I was sixteen, once from Tennessee to Ohio, so I know where you're coming from. I currently still live with my parents, and I dread the day I move out just because it means I'll have to pack (and ultimately unpack) another stinkin' box. :rotfl:
The pictures of your family wearing the hats are so cute! Your poor dad! :rotfl: We have pictures from one year where everyone's wearing hats (and wigs!) in almost every photo. Like you, we didn't realize it until we got home!

I just bought some paper/plastic dinnerware last night. :)
My packing system is fairly organized, it has to be since I am moving into my parents house for while and a lot of my things will be going into storage. So everything is being labled with a room (ie, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom) and if it is either storage, or home. Plus, I am kinda weird about not mixing things between rooms when I pack....yeah.
Thanks for the advice! I can't believe it is coming up so soon!

I am in need of some advice from all of my lovely Dis friends! I have been growing my hair out since...ah, I can't even remember when, it's been such a long time now. Anyway, my hair is now longer than it has been since high school. And it's driving me crazy. As I told Kelly, it's driving me crazy with a capital Z, craZy! Why did I grow it out? I don't really know. Sometimes I think I will look better with longer hair. But then, once it is longer, I realize that it is just too dang thick and heavy to keep this long. So, it winds up in a ponytail no matter what I am doing. Even at work. Not even a nice ponytail, at that, right now it is in a messy bun. That's right. Because of how thick it is, when it is long like this, it only looks good when it is washed, blown dry, and curled. Otherwise it kinks up from hitting my shoulders and and blades. Plus, doing all of this takes a very long time. Hence the usual ponytail. Anyway, I am just about to my breaking point with it when I will chop it off and start the whole process all over again. So I need your opinion on style!! I have a really round face, which makes it hard to find hairstyles that complement that very well. But I've found a few, and I would really like all y'all's (oh yeah, Texan through and through) opinions!!
Ok, this is the first one. I don't know, it's a little longer than I usually do when I chop my hair all off, but again, with my round face, isn't longer usually better?
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/hairone.jpg
This one is interesting...I like wearing my hair straight. My mother on the other hand does not. But my hair is like straight brown sticks, but it holds a curl really well, so I could do a lot with this one.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/hairtwo.jpg
I think this one is my favorite, and also probably one of the least likely. Just because rounding my hair around my face like that can tend to make it look more round than it is. But still...I think it might be my favorite.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/hair3.jpg
This is different than anything I've ever done before, but I think it's cute. doesn't round out so much around the cheeks, and I also like the kind of side swept look.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/hair4.jpg
This one is cute, if I were to go this way I would probably leave it a little longer in the front, again, cause my face is fuller. I like it, but not as much as some of the other ones.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/hair5.jpg
This one is cute and simple, and looks the easiest to handle. Also, the girl in this photo has a round face like mine, so clearly that wouldn't be a problem. My only qualm is wondering if I would be able to pull it back. Since I like to work out, would I be able to pull it back into a ponytail to keep it off my face and neck?
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/hair6.jpg
Those are my options, and I would really love to get some feedback from you guys as to what you think!!
Thanks!!

It sounds like we have really similar hair. Thick and heavy. I like the second one.:thumbsup2 It's got a lot of layers and the thinning sheers could really easily be used with it. The stylist could probably pick the best length for your face shape. Having the longer layers would make it easier to pull up and off your neck for working out, or any other time, and you could still have some cute wisps around your face. And you could just use those flat clips to pull it back more when you are working out.
Most of the others don't seem to be a good for working out. And having your hair in your face may look cool, but to me, in just looks way to HOT for Texas! Haha!

I like all of them too! But my favourites are the second and fourth ones! I know what you mean about getting in a rut and then throwing your hair up every day... I tend to do that too! If I wear it down I usually straighten it/blowdry it and that takes so long. Getting a great haircut is always so fun... I love all your options and I really don't think you could pick a bad one.

I like the first one! I actually have that cut and love it! It's easy to handle and it's still long enough to wear it up if you have to. The others are cute too though. I will just say though the last one makes that girls face look WAY round. I have a round face so I know what you mean about finding cuts that compliment it. Ok. So, I got my haircut last night. Sort of. I ended up taking this pic http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/hairtwo.jpg with me when I went. Short, and straight, right?
Well, I'm not sure what she really did. My hair is NOT short (below my shoulders) and DOES NOT look good straight. These are the things I was trying to avoid. She did however, add some weird layers that I am not sure what I'm supposed to do with. Do they flip under (which makes them too round) or do they flip out (which makes me look like I have wings growing out of my ears)? So, because of these layers, I can't go have someone fix it into the style that I wanted. When I got up this morning and washed my hair, I questioned whether or not I had actually gone to the salon, or if that had been a dream. I am going to try and take a photo of it tonight, but I am not sure if it will even be worth it, since I feel like it looks exactly the same as before I got it cut. I shouldn't be reaching for the elastic bands immediately after I get a haircut, you know? I cut it to avoid wanting to put it in a pony every day, and what did I want to do this morning? Ponytail. Yup. Because the long parts are still too long, but the short parts prevent me from being able to cut it anymore.
Ok, sorry, I know I am ranting, but every time I pass a mirror, it makes me mad all over again! Grrrrrrrrrr :headache: :headache: :headache:

Oh NO!!!! Bad hair cuts are the worst. I've shed many a tear over bad trips to the salon. :sad1: Could you go back to her, tell her this is NOT what you were wanting, and then ask her to take some length off, but not make any of the layers shorter? It sounds like they're short enough. And so if she takes off some length, it'll probably be more the look you're going for. And I would suggest flattening it with a flat iron and then using wax or something to kinda make it go out a little (but just a little wax or it's gross). This would probably give you the look of the gal in the pic. :)

This is good advice.:thumbsup2 Depending on how she cut it, she could definitely chop off some length without messing with the shorter layers. And using some wax or smoothing product would help make the layers look "choppy" if that's what you're going for.

Ok, this is all good advice. I must be honest with you ladies: I have never used product on my hair (save for when I made the mistake of perming it:scared1: !) so I wouldn't even know where to start! I mean, I don't even use hairspray unless I am putting it all up in a bun for some strange reason.

 I'm so sorry you aren't happy with your haircut!
I'm like you, I'm not used to using product in my hair. When I do, I use Redkin. I also have used Bed Head. They had this one product, don't know if they still sell it, called Rubber Rage, that was really good for adding texture to your ends and defining the layers. For most of any of that type product, you just put some in the palm of your hands, rub it between your hands a bit, and then brush the ends of your hair with your hands, like back and forth with your palms, almost like you are dusting your hair? If that makes sense. It adds product little by little so that you don't end up with too much.
And I agree that if you aren't happy with your haircut, go back and get her to fix what she can fix. I have done that before. It's kind of nerve wracking and it feels weird, but it's best to go back to the same person. Sometimes, they can totally fix the cut to make it do what you were hoping it would do. Like editing is easier than writing on a blank page, if that makes sense, too.

 I'm sorry your hair didn't come out right! I agree with an above poster, go back and tell her it wasn't what you wanted and try to get some of the length off without her making the layers shorter. Hair wise, I'm on the exact opposite end of the spectrum. I have really super fine hair that if not washed virtually every single day, gets greasy/oily looking, holds no curl, and, like you, ends up in a ponytail no matter what. I have a square head, but my face is pretty full so I'm highly afraid of short haircuts as I feel they make me look a little chubbier.
I'm at work right now, but I do have some product to do that almost exact hairstyle at home, so I'll look under my sink for it when I get home tonight. It works wonders. :) So, I'll get on that!
I feel bad for not responding so much on your PTR! I have been reading, I just usually kill threads (as you can tell by my ptr) and didn't want to kill yours! :rotfl:
I hope all ends up well with your hair. I know how frustrating it can be.

Aww I'm sorry you didn't get the cut you want. I absolutely hate getting bad hair cuts... especially when they're so expensive, it is so frustrating to not have it looking different.
I don't usually use a lot of product with my hair. But do you have a straightening iron? You can use it to flip the ends out if you want and it always makes me hair look more... polished? even if it's already straight.
I hope you have some fun playing around with it.:goodvibes

Ok, here are a few photos of what it looks like now that it has been cut. Keep in mind, it's 7:45 at night, and I've been at work all day. I have a bad habit of brushing my hair back with my hands while I am at the office. So, it's a lil' dirty now. :( Also, towards the end of the day my eyes start to hurt, so that is the reason my eyes may look funny....:rotfl:

I really like your hair cut.
The one thing that I wonder is, did she use thinning sheers on your hair? We do have similar hair. I can see it. I think that you are reacting to the look that your hair is a bit heavier looking than the girl in the picture. It looks like it's a good cut, it actually looks like a good length, but it looks like it needs to be thinned.
My hairdresser (I go to my Mom's who has the same hair as me if not worse, and yes, I FLY to Scottsdale and get my haircut there when I DO get it cut.:rolleyes1 which is only about once or twice a year.:scared1: ) says that for our hair type, the difference between a good cut and a GREAT cut is the thinning. It just lets the hair cut show through a bit more.
You want someone who knows what they are doing and are familiar with doing the thinning sheers, but from experience, I can tell you, it makes a huge difference. I think it just looks a bit heavy still and not as fly away free and having a much movement as you would like it to be. It's possible to achieve, even with heavy thick hair, you just need a hair dresser that can take a little bit of the weight out.
AND I think you need to play with it a bit. Have a splurge at Target (always a treat for me:laughing: ), get some product and have some fun with you new do.

Ok, this is my last post about my hair, I swear! Hopefully. :cutie:
So. I went to Target (yay, Rabbit!!) and treated myself to a few new products.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01457.jpg
Hair pomade (Got 2 be), hair wax (Pantene), Volumizing spray (John Freida), brush-thru hold spray (Nexus) and a new round brush. Now, after several hours in front of the mirror and a faceful of hairspray later...I have several different options of ways to style this new cut.
Ok, this first one is washed, dried upside down, sprayed with volumizing spray, and the ends were "dusted" with the pomade.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01456.jpg
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01455.jpg
The next one is washed, dried upside-down, sprayed with volumizing spray, and I used the pantene wax from the roots down (this wax, btw, smells EXACTLY like the orange scent that they pipe in during Soarin'. Ah, good memories!) Then I used a flat iron to flip out the ends (this would be the one my madre would like. She thinks that "fix your hair" means "curl your hair.")
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01461.jpg
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01462.jpg
This last one is exactly the same as the last one, only I used a curling iron to curl it instead of the flat iron. This would be how I might do my hair if I was going out to a nice dinner, or to a show or something. Like, my "fancy hair".
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01468.jpg
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01470.jpg
Well, now that I have figured out some different things that I can do with it, I am liking it better. It still isn't the "wash and go" style that I was hoping it would be, but I had fun messing with the different products. Thanks for everything, y'all! You all definitely made me feel so much better about it!!

Ha ha. Not a dumb question. I can only tell you what I use it for! It's like a creme equivalent of gel or something. It helps hold your hair in place, smooth it down, and spike it, if you want. :)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I am pretty sure I can quote every single episode of FRIENDS ever. My sis and I text each other at all hours of the night and day with FRIENDS quotes. It's become a game for us to see who can get tapped out the quickest. Sometimes she catches me off guard and I have to use my old standard (Ugly baby judges you!). But, no, thankfully my hair does not look like Monica's did in that episode. Eeeeshk! Thanks for the compliment. I rarely complain about my hair itself until it gets too long, and still even then I am just complaining about the style.

I took your advice and had fun at Target! Since I never use products, it was quite an education for me!! And she did not use thinning sheers on me, which surprised me last night. It always needs to be thinned a little, just because it does get so heavy. I bet you're right, that is what was bothering me so much, that it still felt so thick and heavy and I wasn't expecting it to. Oh well...at least I have discovered a few different ways I can style it now. :)

Your hair is soooooooo cute! I love it! It's great that you've already discovered a bunch of ways that you can wear it too!
My hair is thick and wavy naturally so when I cut it short like yours it has a tendency of getting even thicker and frizzier. :headache: I usually end up spending more time styling it short than I do when its long so I've been growing it out for forever. I know what you mean about wanting a "wash n go" cut. That would be SO nice. If only my hair weren't so stubborn....
Anyways, glad everything turned out okay! Take that fabulous hair, and work it out! :cool1:

I love your different styles! SO cute! And it looks like you got some good styling products.
I use different ones for how I'm wearing my hair.
Straight: Biosilk (This stuff is incredible! It makes your hair so smooth and soft...but only use a tiny bit) and Garnier wax (a little on the ends)
Diffused Curly: Aussie Mousse and Sprunch Spray (I apply before I diffuse and add more SS half-way through the diffuse)
Curled: Some kind of Gel (I don't remember the name) and blow-dry before bed and sleep with it braided (THANKS SOLEIL!) and then I curl it and use Aussie Hair Spray
So if you're ever in need of some other products, you might give some of them a try. But it looks like you've got some good ones! :)

Thank you very much! Yeah, my hair is straight as sticks, so I lucked out in that arena. I used to be a believer in wash-n-go cuts, but for some reason it just isn't working out for me anymore. One thing I did discover about this style is that it does still go in my ponytail for working out, which is nice. I always worry about that right after I cut my hair.

All my moves were family, school, or job related. I have 2 different moving methods that I have used...
Method 1: Pack everything in boxes. Don't even worry about what youre packing, what goes in what box, etc. Then, when you get where you're going and start to unpack is when you sort, toss out, organize, etc. Although this method is not greatly approved by everyone - it can certainly help with the pre-move stress. ;) When I did this I used laundry baskets and trash bags to help me sort and organize. One basket for kitchen, one for bedroom, one for living room, and trash bags for garbage. If the post-move sorting does not concern a person, this method is not too shabby. I found that the post-move sorting largely reduced my stress.. it was very calming to sit down and sort once I was there. I don't know why. If you are the type to procrastinate the unpacking, I do not recommend this.
Method 2: Label it all. Sort it all. Keep it organized. Toss what you don't want, etc. Do it all before you move. Why would a person spend the time and money to move trash right? Throw it out. If you havent worn it, if its been under the cabinet, in the bottom of the closet, tucked away in a box, etc then clearly you don't need it. If it's something you have lived without then why take it with you? Doing all this AMAZINGLY reduces what you will have to do once you get where you're going. This method however stresses me out. It is a lot of work before the move. If you have the time pre-move to tackle this though, it may be well worth it. I am not good at this because I get distracted very easily. :goodvibes
I apologize if that was of no help to you. :confused3 Perhaps if nothing else, interesting to read the crazy moving methods of others?
I don't really think theres the best way to move or any great moving tips. I think it just depends upon the person and their stuff. I hope it doesnt get too crazy and stressful for you!

I think I am pretty much using your second method. Which is giving me a huge :headache: . But I'll live. I have a lot that I am planning on getting done this weekend. I am packing up all my plates/dishware this weekend, so I went and got paper products to use for the next few weeks or so. It's slowly coming together. Although I must say, I got up this morning and was going to start working again, and I got up, stood in the middle of the living room, and literally did not even know what to do. I want to be cleaning the mess that is all of the packing stuff. I need to be packing with the packing stuff. So, I gave up and decided to check out the Dis.

Hey!! Glad you made it over. And guess what? I still don't have my planning dvd. Yeah, I gave up on that. I'll try to order a new one once I've moved. We are probably a bit crazy planning this Disney trip right after all the other stuff we have going on, but we figure we will be due a nice vacation once all the stressful things are over (wedding planning, moving, job-hunting....). Right now we are planning on flying. It gives us more time at WDW without having to take any more time off of work. But it is all probably going to depend on what, if any kind of discounts are available in December....
Thanks! I'm glad that you like my hair. I've gotten a handle on it now, and it's pretty nice. It did take like 3 hours in front of the mirror to figure out all the different styles. But it was pretty fun...very girly! But I just have to take this moment to complain! SOMEONE *ahem* who shall remain nameless decided to say that he didn't like the curls. After he listened to my rant, which was even longer than the one I expressed here on the Dis, he decides to tell me that he "isn't really a fan." Do THEY ever learn? :headache: If he'd been within range, he might have gotton a faceful of hairspray.

Hi Jewels. I've been reading about your upcoming trip with your BFF. I'm envious.
I love your new hair btw. It seems the perfect cut for your face.
Hey, Redlight! Thanks for stopping in! And thanks for the compliment on my hair! It's grown on me!
And a quick hello to all of my friends! Happy March! I hope to update tonight, but I hope you've all had a good weekend!

Happy March to you, too, Jewels!!! Seems that you have quite a bit of snow headed your way -- your farewell gift from DC, maybe?

But I just have to take this moment to complain! SOMEONE *ahem* who shall remain nameless decided to say that he didn't like the curls. After he listened to my rant, which was even longer than the one I expressed here on the Dis, he decides to tell me that he "isn't really a fan." Do THEY ever learn? :headache: If he'd been within range, he might have gotton a faceful of hairspray...
Boys. :lmao:
Just stopping in to say hi and happy March! :goodvibes I got my hair done on Friday and came thisclose to cutting my hair short like yours. But I chickened out at the last minute. :rolleyes1 I'm just so afraid that my hair will poof out like a poodle's if I chop it all off. It stinks because I think it would be so cute if I could get it to lay right. Ah well, maybe next time.
Hope the moving is still going okay! :goodvibes

Ha ha. Yeah, more like DC's little reminder of why I am ready to leave....:rotfl: It's pretty crazy. I don't think I've ever seen this much snow!

Hey Em! The packing is going well, slow, but well. I hope you post pics of your hair on your ptr! I've gone to get my hair done a few times thinking that I am going to cut it shorter than my chin, but I always chicken out. :rotfl: I bet it looks great, though!

OMG, I can't believe that it is less than two weeks until TBM. It's all becoming very real. I've been spending time with my friends here in DC, all of them seem to have just now realized that I am leaving in less than two weeks. Many of my evenings are rapidly filling. And I am going crazy thinking about all the things that still need to be done!
So...I'm sure everyone, if you aren't actually getting the crazy snowstorm, then you've heard about it. We got a ton of snow dumped on us last night. Ok, so, I'm from Texas, so a "ton of snow" means any accumulation of snow, pretty much. Anyway, I am not in the office today, because I don't deal with the snow well. :rotfl: I'm ready to be back in Texas, in the warm weather! :)
I discovered a new cd this weekend, and it's been the only thing I've been listening to for the past few days. I grew up on stage, so musical theatre holds a special place in my heart. This weekend I discovered the Seussical the Musical soundtrack. It's fantastic. I spent the weekend packing and singing along (loudly, don't y'all feel for my neighbors?). Admittedly, I got very little packing done once I had nearly emptied my living room of all but the couch and the piano. By THAT time I had discovered that I had plenty of room to dance around and sing as well. To the point of being sore! And as I take two dance classes a week, and work out 4x a week, that's saying something. I was having so much fun. I think at one point I acted out the entire show, or at least all the songs! It is my current desire to play The Cat in the Hat in Seussical. If you haven't seen the show (which I haven't) or heard the music and you enjoy musical theatre, I would suggest that you check it out! Particularly the songs "Oh, the Thinks you can Think!", "A Day for the Cat in the Hat," "How Lucky You Are," and "It's Possible." Such good music.
One final piece of news....I've talked briefly about how I am working on losing weight before the many things I have coming up this year, including the Disney trip. Well, I met my first goal, with 13 days to spare! 20 pounds before I move back to Texas! Wahoo!! Thanks to all of you for the support, especially Rabbit, who gives me all sorts of wonderful advice and encouragement!! for you all and I hope you are all staying warm!! :)

WOO HOO! 20 pounds is awesome. Did you do a particular diet, or just watched what you ate?
I should lose about that much, but I'd not motivated to do so, and the snow and cold isn't helping!

I've never heard the music from that musical I'll have to look into it. Good luck with the snow. We got about 15 inches. UGH! I hate it. Well like they say in like a lion out like a lamb. Way to go on 20 pounds..that's an accomplishment. I need to get working on it too but lately haven't felt like doing much. I'm stressed with school and other things. But hopefully things will settle down soon.
I know you're getting excited about TBM and I can't begin to imagine what it's like for you. Good luck though :)

Okay so I have like $9.26 in iTunes credits left over from Christmas...I was previewing the CD and I really like it. I have a fondness for musicals so I might have to use my remaining credits to buy it.
Happy March, stay warm, and good luck with packing!

I maybe, kinda, sorta, mighta made a little change......
.......................................
.......................................
.......................................
So, after much deliberation, Kelly and I decided to CHANGE OUR RESORT!!
Yes, we have, although this will probably not be the last change that we make between now and October 21st (when the final payment is due!!), because I am becoming a chronic reservation changer. As Kelly will attest to. So, we poured over the Disney website, the Disboards, and talked about what we could afford and such, and based on all of those careful considerations, we came to a decision. We've decided to stay at .................................................. ...........................................
Well, wait! Why tell you when I can show you?! There are five pictures here that I've digitally altered (I can't make it totally easy!) I love to play around with Adobe, so it was pretty fun. Anyway, here are 5 pics of the resort that Kelly and I have changed our ressie to. Go ahead and guess which resort you think we've decided on, and one of us will confirm either tomorrow or Saturday!!

I am taking a brief break from the packing I have been doing all day to see what has been going on on the boards. I made a discovery early this morning as to why I feel like I haven't been getting much done. Well...I turn on the ipod when I am doing things around the house, cleaning, or in this case, packing. And I realized that I spent more time singing and dancing around the apartment then I did actually putting things in boxes...so I had to change what I was listening to. :lmao: Anyway, it's been going much faster now. I actually turned on an audiobook to listen to (Twilight). :)
Here is what I have packed:
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01490.jpg
It may not look like much, but there are actually 20 boxes here...including the suitcase. My back is a little sore right now.
While I was packing, I found some dress clothes that I had stuck in the back of the coat closet, cause I a) really had no where to wear them, and b) they didn't fit anyway. So, just for giggles, I decided to try them on to see if they fit now that I have been losing weight (22lbs, this am!!). And they did!! I was very excited, cause they are kinda like my "little black dresses." Anyway, there was no one around to take a pic of me actually wearing them, but I wanted to post them, because they are cute, and I am very excited about them fitting! :)
Here is the first one. I am probably going to wear this to the rehearsal for the wedding that I am in in April. It's my favorite, and it is definitely my "little black dress."

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r66/jewels1916/DSC01491.jpg
And here at the shoes that do with the dresses. This is my favorite pair of shoes I own! Also the ones I am wearing with my bridesmaid dress at the wedding in April.

Yes, it is a great feeling to fit back into clothes!! I've worn the shoes to one wedding already, so I think I will manage. They aren't the most comfy shoes I've ever put on, and they will NOT make it through the reception, but at least through the wedding. Probably once the reception starts I will be back in flats...

The shoes are from Bakers, although I bought them last year, so they *might* not have them...
What cute dresses!!! May I say that the dresses and the shoes are way hot! ;) And I'm so excited that you can wear them after such a long time!! That's awesome!
Packing stinks. But YAY for getting so much done! You'll be so glad when this is finally over!
Thank you! And you're right, packing does stink. It didn't take nearly this long to pack when I was moving from OK to DC, but this is taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r! So glad that I am leaving on Saturday!!
Those dresses are GREAT! I :lovestruc those shoes! I want them! I'm glad packing is coming along for you! I'm sorry your back is getting sore! No excuse better than a DIS post to take a break! :goodvibes We'll be needing some pics of you in those dresses at some point! ;)
Thank you!! I was very excited to find all these great things! Now to find places to wear them! :) Eh, my back was sore, but nothing that a hot shower didn't fix! Soon as I have a chance to wear those dresses, I'll be posting some pics!
LOVE, love, LOVE the shoes! :lovestruc
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am pretty excited about them! I personally think that shoes can change your life. Just ask Cinderella! ;)

Just a brief little....non-update. Today is my last day in the office, after which I will be officially unemployed. :scared1: I am a little nervous about that, but hopefully I can find something pretty soon once I get back down in TX. My Dad thinks I should start my own business. :confused3 I wonder if he remembers that I am only 23 years old?
Speaking of 23....has anyone been wondering what the whole "Are you 23?" has been about on the Disney website? Well, allears has today that Disney Twenty-Three is a new magazine that Disney is releasing. Here is the link for that post. (http://land.allears.net/blogs/debwills/2009/03/disney_twentythree_premiere_is.html)
1923 is the year Walt Disney Corporation was established.
*New D23 info* Mousesavers.com has it that D23 is an official community for Disney fans. The $75 one-year membership includes:
Disney twenty-three quarterly publication: A one-year subscription (four issues) to D23's new collectible magazine filled with stunning photography, dazzling illustrations and the ultimate Disney insider perspective. This advertising-free keepsake is the all-access pass to discovering the magic of Disney's past, present and future.
Membership Certificate and Card: The D23 membership card and suitable-for-framing member certificate -- both specially created for D23's Charter Year -- feature many of Disney's most beloved characters.
Surprise Collectible Gift and Member Merchandise: Each member who joins D23 will receive an exclusive collectible gift from the new Walt Disney Archives Collection. This merchandise line was created specifically with D23 members in mind, and each piece is authorized by the Walt Disney Archives. D23 members will have exclusive or early access to a wide assortment of Walt Disney Archives Collection pieces.
D23 Expo and Member Special Events: The D23 Expo -- to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center from September 10-13, 2009 -- will be "The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience," featuring incredible speakers, celebrity appearances, breathtaking exhibitions, interactive experiences, sneak peeks, film screenings, one-of-a-kind merchandise, and much more. All Disney fans are welcome, but D23 members will receive a discount on Expo admissions and early access to the show daily. D23 also offers unique members-only special event opportunities throughout the year.

*all of this info is from Mousesavers (http://mousesavers.com).
Hope you are all having a great day! My appearance on the boards may become pretty sporadic over the rest of the week, as I will be packing and such. My mother is set to arrive around 11am on Thursday, to help me finish packing. The movers are supposed to be at my apt. on Saturday morning, and once they are out, Mom and I are going to finish up a little bit of cleaning, and then head out, on the road to TX! I can't believe it's almost time to leave!

WOHO TBM!!
Uhm, shoe shopping? YES! Long story short, but I recently found out I have permanently damaged my feet from years of dance, so I have to sell most of my shoes and go with flats, which of course, means I just need to go buy more shoes! How successful do you think a shoe-only garage sale would go? Haha.

Wohoooo the big move is soooo close now! Hope the last day at the office went well.
I joined that D23 club last night. I figure if you buy the mag a barnes and noble its $15 or $16 an issue so the membership just about covers the subscription and you get a few extra perks. I figure I would try it for a year and if it's not worth it I wouldn't renew. Did you join?
Good luck with the move this weekend. Drive safe!!!!

My Dad thinks I should start my own business. :confused3 I wonder if he remembers that I am only 23 years old?
I know, it's nerve wracking to be unemployed! I did the same thing when I was about your age. Boy did that sentence made me feel old. But seriously, I was waiting for DH to finish up in college, I didn't really care for the job I had. My mom really needed my help to get her home based business started; my parents were in the process of relocating and my mom starting her business. Anyway, I moved into an apt with my mom because my dad was still in CA waiting for the house to sell.
Anyway, with the wisdom of someone SOOOOO much older :rotfl2: I totally get what your dad is saying. Now is the time to start your own business. If you have any aspirations in that area, if you are living with your parents again, especially, then you have a nice level of responsibility/commitment in your life that will enable you to dedicate the time needed to get a business off the ground. Later, when you are married with kids, it would be much more difficult. Later, when you need to pay for your housing and other expenses, it will be very difficult. Now, when you are foot loose and fancy free, you are all set to go.
Don't get a complex about your age. Age has very little to do with anything. Opportunity, desire, ambition, and smart working have much more to do with your successes in your career life than your age...Oh! I hear DS waking up...which cuts this little discussion short!:goodvibes

My feet are pretty banged up too from all the dancing! My knees took the worst beating though... :confused3 We'll plan a shoe-shopping excursion sooooon!! My best friend from high school's husband is the manager of shoes at Nordstrom's....we may have to see if we can go harass him into letting us use his discount!! ;)

I know!! TBM is almost here!! My last day in the office was nice, my boss took my team out for drinks as a goodbye thing, and everyone got a little teary, except for Tony, and he's a guy, so...what do ya expect?
I haven't joined the D23 yet, I am not sure if I am going to yet. It would be fun to be a part of, but I am just not sure I would use the perks...I did swing by Barnes and Noble and check out the mag though!
Thanks!!!

Wow! Thanks for the words of wisdom! I've thought about starting my own company in the past, to be honest, and I think my dad knows that which is why he is bringing it up. I just always imagained myself to be older, with more experience when I thought about it. I have this list of things I want to do in my life, and owning my own business is on it. So is having something published. I think I might spend some time writing....:)
Today was my first day not at the office, and I intended to get a lot more done than I did. I spent several hours at the auto body shop....new brake pads, oil change, and new wheel locks...that took more time than expected, but it had to be done. I also vacuumed out the car and scrubbed the floor mats. My yellow xterra is all nice and shiny, inside and out. My Mom arrives tomorrow at 11am!! Wahoo! I am very excited to see her, because I haven't since December. Anyway, tomorrow is going to be a busy day with her arriving, and all the stuff that we still need to do before TBM. Hope you are all having a great week!!

Hello, everyone! Thanks for all the pixie dust and warm wishes that you sent while I dealt with TBM! I just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello and let everyone know that we did make it back to TX! The drive wasn't too bad, we made it to Nashville on the first night (Saturday night), and stayed over, then we got up and left around 9:45 Sunday, and made it to Dallas around 9pm.
The moving company has been a major stressor - they have been incommunicative and unreliable, at this point I know that most of my belongings are on a truck somewhere, hopefully not being sold. No idea when they are going to be arriving here, because they refuse to call me.
Anyway, I want to catch up with all of you just as soon as I can, probably tonight sometime!!
Hope you are all having a great week!!

Hello, everyone! Sorry that I have been incommunicado recently, but it's been pretty crazy around here. The movers finally arrived with all of my things, and from what I can tell, nothing appears to be broken! Wahoo!! I'm glad that ordeal is over and done with. I'm pretty settled in now at my parents' house, although I am missing my nice big queen size bed something awful right now. :confused3
I spent this weekend with my little sister at her dance competition. It was the MA Nationals competition, in Ft. Worth. They looked sooo good, and ended up winning National Champions overall! They had the highest score out of any other team in the whole contest, they beat out over 40 other schools and studios. I was very proud. It was a goal that my team had back, 6, 7 years ago, to win National Champs jackets, and we never did, so to see my sister experience that was something special. :)
I am back on the job hunt, but I haven't really heard from anyone yet. I am trying not to let that stress me out. Kelly and I are trying to plan a get together sometime very soon, but she was out of town when I got back, and then I was with Kelsey when she got back, so....we haven't seen each other yet. Soon, hopefully. Anyway, hope everything is going well with you all!! Thanks for sticking with me!

OMG, I am going to SPAIN! And Italy and France!
Ok, I've been overseas a few times. When I was a freshman in high school my choir traveled to Germany and Austria and sang in several different locations including Sunday morning Mass at the Dom Cathedral. That was incredible. We also saw the castle that Cinderella's Castle was modeled after when we were there. I have pics, I'll have to see if I can find them. I also spent a month traveling between Malaysia and Singapore one summer, because my father was living and working there.
But this year, my family (we always take a family vacation) was discussing where we would go this year. We were thinking about going to Hawaii (we've been once before). As we started doing our research, we discovered that we could actually go to Europe for less than it was going to cost for us to go to Hawaii. Plus, it was something we'd never done. Well, my sister and Mom went to Italy last year (choir again, they go on an overseas trip once every 4 years). But as a family, we've never done a trip like this. My Dad found a Mediterranean Cruise that leaves out of Barcelona, Spain for 7 days on Norwegian Cruise Line, for a great price. The ports are Barcelona, Malta, Rome, Naples/Capri, Florence, and Cannes (France). So, it looks like we are headed to the Mediterranean at the end of July! I am ridiculously excited, because I have wanted to see these places for such a long time now, and we are going!
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::woohoo::w oohoo:
We're still looking for the best flights for all of us, there are 6 going total, the five of us in my family, and then my Dad's Mom (Nanny). She's a crazy little world traveler, she was in Prague doing who knows what last year. I mean it isn't 100% official, cause we haven't booked the flights yet, but we have put down the deposit for the cruise! :)
Hope you are all having a great weekend!!
