tickets on room key

For our first DVC stay since 2003, I'm going to get our tickets at AAA before we leave. Will they put them on my room keys when we check in? I don't remember.

Yes, I don't know if they transfer them to your room key at the check-in desk or the lobby concierge desk (or it may vary from resort to resort) but they will transfer them.

So you don't necessarily have to buy park tickets through Disney in order to be able to get the Dining Plan?

Not with DVC. The dining plan is separate from park tickets.
