Are we doing the right thing??

Hello, New to this area of the boards. I hope I am posting this in the right area. I just got off the phone with DVC and we are thisclose to buying into Bay Lake Towers!!! (Just waiting on a call from DH to confirm he is OK with the prices).

I have the option of buying a contract from a friend at our FAVORITE place..BCV. Not sure the costs or anything there yet.

Is BLT really going to be a great deal? Do you think there will be issues getting reservations there since it's new? We're looking to buy 300 points. We are hoping to get two trips a year out of it. One for about 6 nights during the summer and one for 3-4 nights during the first week or so of December.

Help reassure me that buying at BLT is a wise decision. We can close the deal today if we decide to.

Well, the number one piece of advice on this board is "buy where you want to stay." so if your "favorite" place is BCV I would look into buying there resale (from your friend or otherwise) before I bought BLT.

Buy where you'd most love to stay (or buy where you absolutely wouldn't mind staying if you couldn't switch your reservation to another DVC resort at 7 month booking window).

You mention purchasing 300 pts but wonder between BLT and BCV - - maybe
consider buying 160 at BLT (which is current minimum buy-in for new member at BLT) and then look into purchasing add-on at BCV for additional points you may want to have (140 pts). With banking you can have 320 pts to use at BLT every second year & 480 pts every third year if you banked and borrowed. And for BCV you'd have 280 pts every second year with banking and 420 pts every third banking & borrowing.

You can add on BCV points ( or any other DVC resort ) directly through Disney or you can shop the resale market for additional points; just be sure that on the resale market you get the same Use Year month as your master contract and list owners exactly same & note with Disney that it's in fact an add-on to that master.

Thanks for the quick responses!! I talked to DH, and he really wants to BLV, and I have to admit, that I wouldn't mind staying there myself;)

So....he said go ahead and buy into BLT. He also said that in a year or two, once other things are paid down, that we can look into buying more points at BCV.
