To all in the know, does anyone know where I can find basic terminology concerning the ship like the right side, left side, topside etc. I just want to be "in the know" with the correct terminology when sailing on our first cruise with the family. Thanks.

LEFT is PORT (both have 4 letters) and RIGHT is STARBOARD.
FRONT is FORWARD and BACK is AFT.

And to easily remember where things are located on the Magic and Wonder:
Forward = Fun (theater, nightclubs, spa, basketball), Aft = Eat (buffet, Parrot Cay, Animators Palate, Palo, Scoops/Wraps).

Left is port ONLY if you are facing the bow. :D
Bow = front of the ship (SHIP, not boat - boats go underwater).
Stern = rear of ship
Forward = towards the bow
Aft = towards the stern.
Midship = middle of the ship
Overhead = the ceiling
Deck = the floor
Gunwale = the side "rails" (pronounced "gunnel")
Galley = kitchen
Head = bathroom
Bridge = where they "drive" the ship. The person who "drives" is said to be at the "helm."
Line = rope
Leeward = the direction away from the wind
Winward = the direction towards the wind
Screw = the propeller
Knot = 1 nautical mile per hour (NM = 6,076 ft)

Thanks so much, Barb, for "Forward=Fun, Aft=Eat" -- I constantly found myself at the wrong end of the ships. This will help alot!!
