Just got back from our first trip to the fort. Checked in on Jan. 17 and out on Jan 20. Want to thank ever one on this board that helped with their advice, answers to my questions and tips. We were tent camping w/another family, used two tents on 1 site. This is a very inexpensive way to do WDW. We did not do the WDW parks this time we did Sea World instead. We had no problem w/the temperture or the rain at night. We will go back if its at all possible. Our favorite part was the campfire, outdoor movie, and watching the fireworks from the beach. Heres a tip for you first timers. On the comfort station information board there is a activites or recreation schedule that gives you a list and times of the planed group activites like tag, arts and crafts, and numerous other games for children. We stayed in the 1900 loop. The fort is like a park unto itself. There is a lot to do there. Its a six and a half our to a seven hour drive for us and its well worth the drive. We ate out one time at Whispering Canyon Cafe. I, mom, and the kids loved it. Don't ask for ketchup. Thanks again to all of ya,ll. You were a big help to us novices. Never got any bad advice or wrong answers.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. It makes me jealous as I count down the days until I get to go myself.

We were there from the 16th to the 18th, I think you were across from us. We didn't do much outside and couldn't believe all the people that were in tents. We were so cold that we sat inside and watched movies. We were in the black & white Forest River Class A, right across (I think from you). Normally we go looping with the cart, but we didn't even take our chairs out. I am happy for you that you were ok with the cold weather.

We were in 1925. Hope we did not disturb you, with 6 kids running around, we were not the quietest group.

Not at all, most of the time we are the loud ones, we seem to think yelling is talking. I was probably staring, because I give credit to anyone who can camp in a tent, I don't think I could ever be that organized. I have to be somewhat with the motorhome, but I am very lucky and have most of my things packed in it. I have only camped in a tent 2x in my life and that was on a island in the middle of Lake George, New York. When my uncle told me to clean the tent I wanted to know where the vaccume cleaner was. (There was no electric on the sites) I was in my teens and said I would never camp again. What you do is real camping. I hope you had a great time, it was very cold. Maybe we will camp across from each other some day again, and this time I will say hi, I usually do talk to everyone around us, I really didn't come out much.

-Dawg,
Now that you are a FW veteran, you need to pay it forward and help out all the new posters who ask questions that you know the answers to.
Glad to hear your trip went well. :thumbsup2
