Is there anybody out there that has booked for May 17, 2003 Eastern Cruise?

DH, Mom, Dad and I have all booked for the 17th. We just got back from then Inaugural Western Cruise (11th - 18th).

We look forward to seeing you all there.

By the way, DH and I booked on board and got the special rate and on board credit. My parents however didn't book till after we got back and they of course didn't get the on board credit plus they are having to pay more than us ($300 more). They aren't joking when they say that the special rate is for on board only.

Hi Folks:wave:

Yes that would be us. Walls thinner on this deck allows for the lower price:D

OK cruisers lets fill up this deck, we can charge people going from deck to deck, you know a toll booth:p If you are on the 7th deck and want to go to deck three that will be 10 cents per floor. in that case maam your fee is $.40:) Of course all proceeds will be given to the winery of choice? Boones Farm perhaps?

hi, we'll be on this cruise too. We went same week in 01 and loved it. Will be 5 of us total. I was surprised that anyone was posting when the trip was close to 1 yr. away. But we are excited too.
I love this board. Going to Bermuda on June 30 on the NCL Majesty, and on that board people are just not as excited as this one. I have had no responses to my posts as to who's going to be on that cruise.
Sure we will be hearing from you all again.

Since a lot of us DIS'ers meet on the May 11, 2002 Western Cruise and we booking for next year I decided to create this new thread. I imagine it will get busier as the time passes.

Welcome aboard this thread. I look forward to getting to know you.

Boy, I can't wait to see how many pages this thread gets.
Joe - toll booth, great idea. Think of how much we could make for liquid refreshment as well as pointy cups. (You were sure right about the cups!)

Up here in Dreary Newport RI for a five day vacation. Joanne finally retired officially last Friday so she now has to find another job:)

Welcome back to the Geese:D Where have you folks been:confused: At twenty keys per minute it is going to take a year to catch up. Guess those kiddies changed your computer settings.:p

Fran and Laura: Great knowing who is behind the "Squiggle":p The tomatoes are doing just fine. I am one or two steps ahead of the water police. Have a few green ones already:) Just need the Balsalmic Vinegar, Olive Oil, Garlic and Basil and we will be all set:)

sorry it took so long to reply, but Cruise critic has a message board for each cruise line. I had been on their Disney Cruise Line board before going in May 01, but once I found this board didn't go back there as often.
The board for the NCL line is ok but we are leaving on the 30th of this month, and I have only got about 1 or 2 responses in the 3 posts that I listed. People just are not as enthusiastic as they are on this board.
Well, have to take my oldest grandaughter to dance pictures now.

We had a pretty good group from this board on our last trip, wonder if any of them were on your cruise.
we leave for Bermuda 2 weeks from tomorrow. First time we've had 2 cruises to look forward to. It's been so cold and rainy up here in Mass. that I hope it clears up and gets a little warmer.

Hi Folks:eek:
Ya'll just don't know how mad I am:mad: We just got word that my God child (niece) will be getting married on May 17, 2003. How nice! The problem is we (J&J) have been asked to be in the wedding party:eek:
Now the dilema....do I ask her to change the date to a week earlier and pay for their Honeymoon (on the Wonder) and keep my cruise date intact, tell her we won't be there we have made other plans or what?
If we cancel and rebook any other suggestions for another Eastern Date?

Thought is right now to change the date to a few weeks before, however not too sure of what stuff we have to do before wedding? She is not too sure either, but she has the church, reception location reserved, and the hotel for her block of rooms pretty much selected. What stuff goes on with pre-wedding planning anyway?

Looking for some good, painless suggestions!

I think we're going to have to come back too!!! Now that the countdown timer is on, I am going to (1) work on dh and (2) check into rates. We had a great time, even though we didn't get out to meet you all! It's obvious that we need to come back to correct that wrong! P.S. Joe&Joanne -- I hope that the wedding works out. It is a tough call because I can't imagine asking a bride to change her plans but unless she picked that date for a particular reason (e.g., that was the only time that the church/reception place/hotel/entertainment were available) it really wouldn't be that hard for her to change it. I'd mention that you had a cruise booked for that date and see what she says. If she offers to change, then she's probably not too worried about it either. :)

Well, we went ahead and cancelled our 5/17/03 DCL cruise we set up with Dreams Unlimited... :(

Last weekend we joined a travel club, so I called them yesterday and they got us a price about $500 less (after the rebates and all) than what Dreams was offering. Now the trick is to get the same rooms, but our new travel agent was on the phone with DCL and confirmed we could get the same rooms. So in other words, WE'RE BACK!!!

Cmatt,

In Ft. :auderdale we flew out of the International airport, once before we flew out of the Charter Terminal. North side of FLL. In Miami we have flown out of the seaplane base on Watson Island. This is across from the the Miami cruise ship dock.

In Bimini we have stayed at the Complete Angler, a Hemingway haunt and we haev also stayed at the Sea Crest. I really liked the Sea Crest. We did both as part of a dive package from Bimini Underseas. There is also a more upscale place called teh Bimini Big Game Club.

Note there is not much to do on Bimini if you don't dive or deep sea fish.

Watch the last few minutes of Silence of the Lambs to see the main drag of Bimini.

Hi Folks:wave:

First, let me thank all of you for the suggestions. We will be seeing them over the weekend so I will have a better feel for this on Monday. When we were over their house last week we did not even hint at our upcoming cruise. You should have been in the car on the way home  After speaking with her dad again, I find out that Steph and four of the bridesmaids did all the arranging and picked the date first from the CC where the reception will be. Normally, I think this would be a good choice but the funny thing is they went on Saturday and Sunday the 10th and 11th of May when we were on our first Disney cruise  Mike (dad) suggested to Steph that we be in the wedding party after he discussed the details with her. He mentioned to her we are both "retired" (from the Air Force, not the work force) we would have no problem taking time off and I could help with the organization (huh)?

I think we will be buying another dress:) Positive note: Can wear new dress on new cruise;) Will see her and BF again this weekend (all the guys played golf last weekend) but will only discuss present plans as they are laid out now on her part.

Right now the thoughts are to rebook the cruise to the week after and split the honeymoon costs with BFs dad?

The plan: Call DCL and ask to add another stateroom at the onboard price (?) for the same date. In a few weeks, call DCL and move two of the rooms to one date (after the wedding, for our cruise) and the other room to the chosen date of the "happy couple". This way we get to go on our cruise (albiet later) and they still go DCL for the honeymoon, if that is what they want. They can go on the "Wonder" on sunday and we will go on the "Magic" the following week. Hopefully, we can keep our discounts and perhaps even get DCL to book us another cabin at our previously obtained prices with our onboard credits?

I miss anything?

Okay guys and gals! I'm new to this board so please bear with me. We are booked for the 5-17-03 cruise and I need some opinions. We are currently on deck 6 midship with a connecting room but at this point I don't think the couple that was to be traveling with us will be coming. For that reason alone I am thinking of switching cabins. I am seriously looking at deck 5. This is our first Disney cruise and our kids' first cruise period. I suffer from seperation anxiety and want to be close to the kids' program. Also, it looks like deck 5 may be a little quieter. Has anyone been on both decks? Any suggestions from you veterans out there? Thanks!

If I've calculated correctly 11 months from now we will have just left St. Thomas, headed for day at sea, then Castaway Cay. We went over to St. john last year, will have to do st. Thomas next year.
It was just about 2 yrs. ago that my sister talked me into going on my first Disney cruise may 19,01. Can't wait for the 2nd. Kind of would like to do the Western, but they want to do Eastern as she liked it better. She did the Western on another cruise line.

We only did some shopping in St. Thomas. Well, I guess I have 11 months to think this over!!!!!!!! I don't think I can stand the wait!!!!!!!:p

Last time we had wonderful weather, except the day at Castaway Cay. We had thunder storms all day. That was a disappointment. Hope we have sun next year.

If we use the time measuring system I used to use when my children were small - we only have 10 months to our cruise. You don't count the month you are in and you don't count the month you are going - so 10 months!!

It's still a long time; but the fun people on these Boards do help it go quicker.

Hi Folks:Wave:

Well, saw the clan over the weekend and no mention was made of the Honeymoom by us. Steph and David are going to a Sandals Resort (paid for by Daves' Dad! :D ). They are not saying which one though :p

So it seems as though the plan will be to keep our reservations but change the date, probably into hurricane season:rolleyes: but not for a while. Will see how things progress over the summer. As for me organizing (?) it seems as though they have a pretty good handle on the big stuff. I think I will do the aunt shower, and some other small stuff. The more I think about it the less upset we become, I guess it was not a big deal after all! I guess we will spend our 24th anniversary at a quiet little hotel and restaurant around here

Now to pick an alternate date.

Hi,
Just back yesterday from Rcl Majesty Boston to Bermuda cruise. We had a great time. Hadn't been on this ship since 1995. Everything was great. First day though we kept saying, the Magic this, and the Magic that. We decided to stop comparring them, and then we had a great time.
Our cabin on the magic made our cabin on the Majesty seem like a closet. It was soo small.
Now I only have one cruise to look forward to.
Back to laundry now, can't believe how much dirty clothes I had.

My 1st cruise was out of ny to bermuda, but the end of Oct. yes the water was very rough. Got really sick. my 2nd was Boston to Bermuda, in Aug. A little rough, but not bad, this one was great. Calm seas both ways thank God. From what I understand May and early June can be very rough. Much cheaper, as well as the fall, but I guess you get what you pay for.
Bermuda was beautiful, we spent 2 half days, and 2 full days there. The weather was actually cooler than it was here in Mass. last week.
Well, at least I have next years cruise to look forward to.

Well we have officially cancelled our cruise date, however not for the reason of the wedding. Joannes mom recently fell and broke her arm and hip. Along with a stroke 22 years ago, congestive heart failure, osteoporosis and a host of other imagined illnesses she is bedridden. Hi all! I was reading (and rereading) some of the newer threads and decided that I would bump us up with a few questions I'm hoping you can help me with. First, for those of you who have sailed on similiar dates before...what is the weather like, including water temp? Second, were there a lot of children on board? Schools around here do not get out until the first week of June, later if there are snow days. However, I went to school in central Pa and we used to get out the third or fourth week of May. I'll be bringing my children, 4 &5 by the time we sail and I'm hoping that the kids club won't be too crowded. Anyone else in the group bringing along younger children? Last one...how crowded is the Goofy pool, usually? I always hear about the Mickey pool but I'm curious because I love to swim with my little ones.

The countdown clock keeps looking better and better doesn't it?! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Schools here in NY end the last week in June, but I pull mine out.

The clubs weren't too crowded last time, but there were plenty of kids, but it was the Inaugural Western also.

The weather and water was PERFECT!!!!!!!!!

Hope that helps, see you in 9 months.

Hi,

we went on this same cruise last year, left on 5/19/91, and of the 2600 something passangers, we were told that a little over 1100 of them were kids. We were 4 adults. Except for one night in the show, they were great. Can't help you with the kids clubs, but if any adult is worried about kids bothering them they shouldn't be.

9 months from today we should be headed toward Castaway Cay. Last year that was the only day we had thundershowers all day, so we didn't get to enjoy the island. Hoping for better weather next year. Other than that day, the weather was great.

Last year was my first Disney cruise and my 1st cruise ever. We loved it! Thought I would feel movement etc. Nothing, it was great.

I haven't written in awhile. Our fall vacation was great! We loved the cabins we stayed in so much we have already booked for next fall! :p

Well, I am taking Prenatal Vitamins now. They are making me so nauseated! My energy level is better, but the stomach part isn't any fun. :(

We will start trying to get pregnant in January. Hopefully when we come aboard the cruise we will be expecting!!! :p

I am so excited, I went out and bought a book for first time parents (that's us ;) ).

Only a little over 32 weeks until the cruise!!!!

Went looking for this thread, and noticed that noone has posted for a while. Are we too busy? I know that I've been busy at work and only check it out once a week or so.

Well, we're almost out of the 200's. 9 days to go. Are we getting excited? Just think, 7 months from today, we'll be at St. Martin. Maybe we should start saving our money now.

Really had to search for this post, have we all been too busy with the holidays? Just think, less than 5 months to go. We have just made reservations for a few nights in Celebration after the cruise. Figured that we would need to walk off the extra pounds gained on the trip. That is, after I've lost the extra gained over the holidays. Oh well, that's what New Year's resolutions are all about.
Hope you all have a happy holiday season, and just think SUN!!!! That sounds good as we will be getting snow tonight.

Ours was pretty good.

Thought I would update those who know that we were trying for a family. We got pregnant but I had a miscarriage Dec. 12th. I am doing much better now physically and emotionally. I go back to the doctor tomorrow and she will let me know when we can try again. Our goal is to on the cruise with a "baby in the oven". :)

The weather has gotten pretty chilly here in Clearwater, FL or at least to us it has.

We went last weekend to WDW and saw the Candlelight Processional and the Very Merry Mickey Parade. Boy, was that awesome!

The Raddison is what we are thinking of too. We will be going back to Orlando for 3 nights after the cruise, so we thought that if we rented a van, there'll be 5 of us total, we could leave it at the hotel and have it there when we return. Might still be about the same as getting the transfers. The other option is to just rent something to get to the port, then for the few days after. Oh well, still time to think that out.

Hope all of you are well, and staying warm.

We're still undecided what to do for transportation. We will be staying in Orlando for 3 nights after the cruise. Any suggestions? Should we rent car 1 way and leave it and then rent another Sat thru Tues?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

UKANGEL: Happy Early Honeymoon! My husband and I had our honeymoon on the Disney Wonder in '99. We did the 4 day resort/3 cruise package. I don't think we could have had any better honeymoon than that! :)

We will be wearing our green lanyards that we got from the last cruise, and occasionally our green tie dye shirts from last year (Inaugural Western Cruise).

When you make a payment on your cruise let the CR know, you will get a cake at one of your dinners served to you (free) and the waiters will sing to you two. They might do something more, not sure now.

At the time of our honeymoon. We had a honeymoon package at the same cost as a regular package (4 day land/3 day sea), but that was before they really started going with all the stateroom gifts, packages, etc.

Mjasp
01-17-2003, 07:42 AM
Laura...Maybe we should organize something as the time gets closer, besides the lanyards, which not everyone will have, maybe we could all agree to purchase green leis from a party city type store. They're inexpensive and They really stood out on the 5/11 cruise. What do you think? Again its still too early. Joe? Where are you when we need you. We need an organizer. Are you sure you can't make it?

Hi all! Sure hope you folks up north can get shoveled out by cruise time. Just talked to DIL in Pennsylvania; she says it is a mess up there. They got about 24" of snow. Seriously, hope all are well, and warm and safe. Think WARM.......

Hi Squiggle,

We got quite a storm yesterday too, my husband is out clearing our drive so that I can go to work today!!! Thought I would get the day off, oh well, more $$$$ to spend on the cruise.

Less than 3 months to go, so guess I'll make it.

Ok....we are not 100% positive...but it is looking like we might be joining you guys on the 5/17 cruise!!!! I just read through the whole thead to try and get caught up.

It is very errie.....because way back on page 2 or 3 I posted how I should join you all because 5/17 is my Birthday!!!! MJASP wrote back saying I should switch from July 19 to May 17.....never thought it would happen but as things turn out we could not go in July and are seriously looking at 5/17...I'll be the one with the Birthday Girl crown on!!!

DARWIN91...don't know if you got airfare yet...but I did book our airfare just yesterday.....$135 R/T pp from JFK to MCO!!! I could not believe it. Booked online at www.delta.com. We would fly down on 5/17 7:30 am flight and return on the 24th on the 7:30 pm flight. The cheapest air fare I have seen in many a day!!!

Still trying to working out the cruise details, but anyway I will be in the state of Florida one way or another starting 5/17.

We have done the Eastern last Feb and did the Western on 8/3/02 and 1/4/03. Looking forward to the Eastern again with that extra day at sea.

If we go it will be myself, hubby, DD19. Also our friends and their 8 mos. old and 2.5 year old. Unfortunately our DD15 and DS18 will not be able to join us due to High School. I already took them out a week in Jan and cannot do it again. They are bummed but understand. We had promised friends of ours that we would sail with them if they ever decided to try DCL with their two little ones and they could only go in May of this year.

Hope to see you all onboard...I will let you know when/if we deposit. Check out the dining rotation charts I created to try and plan your Palo's night!!!

Do we really have to wait that long? I could be ready to go in an hour if I had the chance!!!!!! I'm tired of the cold, and snow up here.
But on the plus side, we have 11 weeks of dreaming of the Magic. Got my passporter this week, and have read cover to cover.

Stay warm, and keep thinking SUN.....

Hi, everyone! Couln't get on the Boards for about 2 weeks. That was not a good time! Could only access them at work and you know how that goes......................
Seems to be working now. Many thanks to the Board Gurus for their hard work!!!!

11 weeks from right now we will be on the Magic! Was reading back on this thread and saw where I posted it was 41 weeks to go. Talking to all you nice people sure helps the time go by.

OK, you folks keep warm and think about all the warm weather clothes you have to buy - SOON!
