MMOUSE, BOOKED MY AIRFARE A FEW DAYS AGO. I GOT $154.00 ROUNTRIP N/S FROM JFK TO MCO VIA DELTA. WE ARE COMING IN ON FRIDAY AND STAYING AT THE RADISSON.

HAVE TO MAKE MY FINAL PAYMENT BY TUESDAY. HAD TRANSFERRED MY RESSIE TO COSTCO AFTER I HAD BOOKED ONBOARD LAST YEAR. THEY REQUIRE 75 DAYS BEFORE.

DARWIN91....we usually always fly down the day before and stay at the Radisson but due to work restraints this year we have to fly down that morning. Hubby is actually working midnight shift and we are leaving for the airport as soon as he arrives home that morning!! You also got a great price for airfare!!!

The Radisson has a great pool area!!!! Hope the weather is nice and warm for sailaway....our last two cruises we had to have sailaway indoors due to horrible rain!!!

We stayed at the Radisson last year for the Western Inaugural. The hotel was nice. The service at the restaurant is a bit SLOW however, I would probably go elsewhere for a meal this time. The kids loved the pool area and we are traveling with my DD 5 and our friends who have a DS 7 so they will love it. If they are happy, then we are happy:D

Well, folks I might be pregnant! I won't know till around the 15th!

Of course I am scared since I had a miscarriage in December.

You all will laugh when I tell you the following: if I am pregnant the baby is "a little souvineer from Disney World"! ;)

We stayed at the Disney Caribbean Beach Resort last weekend. Boy, does the newly remodeled food court and restaurant look great!

Has anyone decided on their shore excursions for the cruise?

Will be saying a prayer for you, and I love the fact that it might be a real "Disney" made baby. The 15th will be here before you know it, and I know all of us will be keeping our fingers crossed.

As I sit here, my husband is once again, about the 3rd time today snowblowing the driveway. Will it never end? Oh, for sun, and warm weather.
My niece who will be on the trip with us, and her 7 yr old son have been looking for a tux for him. A friend of mine suggested ebay, go to clothing, and there is a special section for ring bearer clothing. You can buy one for 40 to 50.

Don't have a ribbon yet, but for our last cruise 2 years ago, I bought at the disney store a lime green tank top with royal blue poka dots, and Mickey on the front. I posted that was what I was going to wear first day. It was great!!!! While standing in line I had people coming up and introducing themselves. I think that I was the only one from the Dis board that met everyone who posted, and some that were only lerkers.

I have my top ready this year too. My sister also has one, so look for the 2 with lime green tops.

Will have to get the ribbons though. Can't wait!!!! It was warm yesterday, and our snow is melting. Thank God.

36 days of tax season, and less than 10 weeks till the cruise.

There is a Florida Resident's Special on this date for categories 5,9,10,11. If you are a Florida resident and have already booked in one of those categories, you can call Disney or your TA and they will process a credit or if you are a FL resident and you are not currently booked in one of the aforementioned categories you may want to consider moving. We moved from Cat 10 to Cat 9 and received a $700 credit from the Early booking rate we received in October, 2002!

Sshe is booked on the 5/10 sailing) for the 5/17 sailing with us. She called Disney and they said there were no more FL Res rates available. This was two days ago that she called.

I am pregnant!!!! Just found out this weekend. That would make my due date around November 25th.

So, I will be 3 months pregnant when I board Disney Magic!

Please everyone pray that I will carry this one full term and not miscarry like the last one.

Does anyone know what kind of massages I would be able to do or not do, or what products I shouldn't allow to be put on my back during the massages aboard? I had bought some massage oil the last time on board and I saw on the box that pregnant women shouldn't use it. Just a little worried that I won't be able to do my usual massages on ship.

I called DCL and got the FL resident rate, but I lost my $200 credit on board (got that 'cause I booked this one on my last cruise). I got $340 credit back to my card. So, it still works in my favor.

Not sure what we're doing yet, I think my niece has it all planned out. We did the Under 2 flags last time in St. Martin, and also the St. John's tour. I liked that much better. Be careful of the trip over to st. John though if you get motion sick. Good thing I took my Bonine. It was quite choppy. Worth it though.

2 months from tomorrow, we'll be in St. Martin.

We're gonna try to make our decisions on shore excursions this weekend, but it's tough when you've got 6 adults with such varying interests and abilities. I think we'll try and book 2 for each port - 1 for individual interests and 1 for the entire group (even if that's just wandering around the port town).

- Jim

P.S. Have we scheduled any DIS-Board get-togethers, yet? I'm sure we'll probably do a sail-away party (need to schedule a place), but were there any others scheduled?

donnabres
03-20-2003, 07:57 AM
We really need to schedule one. The sailaway party is so busy, that it's hard to meet everyone there.

Who wants to take charge?

We'll be at the Raddison on the Friday night also, we won't be getting there till probably 7 or 8 p.m. though. Well, it's better than Sat. a.m.

Donna

IrishCowboy

I would suggest to schedule a second DIS meet on Sunday afternoon. The Sail Away Party is very crowded and it can be difficult for everyone to find one another.

This gives everyone a second chance to meet others if they miss the first meeting.

Thanks for the welcomes mmouse37 and squiggle. We have all the excursion information from when we were on the 1/25 Eastern. You can also get the excursion information from the Disney web site. We're not sure if we're going to book any excursions ahead of time. We're just looking forward to enjoying the ship and possibly some massage services. We might look into taking a taxi to one of the beaches on the islands. After January, we're a little gun shy about making too many plans. We're looking forward to doing some relaxing and spending quality time with the kids.

mmouse37
03-25-2003, 09:38 AM
We did the Western this past January and did the Eastern on 7/7/01 and 2/23/02.

The first time we took DCL beach excursions to Orient Beach in St. Maarten and Sapphire Beach Club in St. Thomas. On our second Eastern trip we did both these beachs on our own via private taxi and saved tons of money. Funny thing is on both islands we were brought to the same beach as the DCL excursion!!! We could come and go on our time schedule.

Taxis drivers were great...would not even let us pay until the return trip. We told him what time to be there and he was there waiting for us.

This time is St. Thomas we are either going to St. John on our own or Magens Bay.

mmouse37 - Which itinerary did you like better, Eastern or Western? What beach would you recommend for small children? My friend and I have two 5 year olds and a 6 year old between us. We don't want to do any regimented tours because we want to be flexible and thought the kids would enjoy just playing in the sand and surf. We're open for suggestions from anyone that has done excursions with small children.

mmouse37
03-25-2003, 10:28 AM
We like both itineraries for different reasons...we like the Eastern for the extra sea day (love those) and the shopping, and like the Western because of the water activities offered in Cozumel and Grand Cayman.

Orient Beach in St. Maarten is very nice and beautiful. We also had our friends with us who had a 6 year old. The only drawback to Orient Beach is at the very far end there is a nudist camp. I mean it is pretty far (about 3/4 mile) from where DCL and our taxi driver took us, but the nudists do take strolls down the beach. The 6 year old with us didn't notice too much but when he did see someone, he took it all in stride. You will get topless bathing in a lot of places in St. Maarten. The nudists all seem to be very old, wrinkly (sp) people who in my opinion like to strut their stuff! Why I do not know!!! They are not much to look at and it is scary to see what gravity can do the human body!!!!

There is a beach called I think Grand Case Beach....it is just a short water taxi ride away from the ship in St. Maarten. I hear people say it is very nice with a nice view of the ships in the harbor. They rent umbrellas as well and it only cost $5 pp for an all day water taxi pass.

We had no problems with this at Sapphire Beach Club in St. Thomas. These are the only beaches we have gone to, so I cannot comment on others. As I said, this time we would like to try Magens Bay in St. Thomas. I hear it is beautiful.

MJ

dvarallo

mmouse37 - Thanks for the info. Orient Beach sounds nice and I've heard it mentioned several times on this board. I'm not too concerned about the nudist beach. The children are still pretty young and don't think twice about nudity. Who knows, seeing some of these people may help us feel better about our bodies, LOL.

We are a group of 9 from 7 mos to 46. We are not landing at MCO until 10:08am on Saturday. We are leaving JFK at 7:30 am.

I am hoping and praying for no delays. This will the first time we won't be in the first 10 in line in 7 cruises!!!

I just booked yesterday with Rabbit from ********.net

He will pick us up in a van and take all 9 of us (he is providing 2 car seats) and all the luggage. Only $80. Splitting this between the two families is much cheaper than DCL transfers. Even with tip it is only $50 per family. We usually do 2 one-way rentals with Avis, but since we are coming in Sat morning I did not want to bother with returning a rental and then taking the shuttle. We booked a 10 passenger van from Budget for the day on our return.

Getting more excited every day!!!

Have just found this board although we have had our reservations for quite some time. This is our first cruise and there are seven of us. Myself, DW, DS 20, DD 18, DS 8, DS 6 and DS 6 (yes they are twins and I don't know if there is a shortcut for that). We are still working on transfers and excursions and just really looking forward to having a great time. I have gotten some great tips from these boards and this looks like a fun group of people.

Bill....I also would like to extend a welcome!!! I am so glad to see other "young adults". Keri, our DD19 is bringing her two college friends with us who are 18 and 19. Our DS18 and DD15 unfortunately cannot come this time around.

We are also travelling with our friends who have two little boys 7 mos and almost 3 years.

Here are some links to our Western cruise we took this past January if you care to take a look!!! We had quite a few at the DIS meet!

Hi all,

Happy Mother's day to the United Kingdom. Well, just sitting here another dreary day. It's been raining since last night, but better than snow. They were talking snow tonight and tomorrow, but don't know if that's still on.

Oh well, only 16 more days of tax season as of tomorrow, then I will be able to have a life again. The only thing getting me through it is the thought of sitting on deck, with a nice book and saying, yes, it was worth it. Have to pay for my cruise somehow.

Keep thinking, sun and fun.

We went to the doctor and had a ultrasound done today. I am currently 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant and we are having twins! That is right you heard me twins! Looks like they might be fraternal not sure yet. When she would move the ultrasound probe sometimes it looked like there were two sacs and sometimes it looked like one sac. We saw two heart beats! Although one baby's heart beat wasn't as strong, but of course we are so early in the game it could be nothing to be worried about.

I go back on April 17th for another sonogram and then we will know a lot more details.

I don't know how to attach pictures in these threads otherwise I would show you the pictures.

Also will have less than 1 week left of tax season by then. The only thing that will get me thru to April 15, is the expectations of the cruise.

DID I HEAR SNOW???????? I WAS JUST STARTING TO BRING OUT ALL THE SPRING CLOTHES. THIS CRUISE CAN'T COME FAST ENOUGH. WHERE IS THAT BEACH????? I NEED TO BE LAYING ON IT.

LAST TIME WE TOOK THE EASTERN WE DID THE PINEL ISLAND TOUR . I WAS NOT THAT IMPRESSED. I THINK THIS TIME WE ARE GOING TO TAKE A TAXI AND GO TO ORIENT BEACH. WE HAVE A DD5 AND ARE TRAVELLING WITH FRIENDS WHO HAVE A DS7 SO THEY ARE JUST HAPPY TO BE AT THE BEACH AND SO AM I. I WAS CONTEMPLATING THE GOLDEN EAGLE CATARAMAN BUT I HEARD SOME PEOPLE GET SICK?? ARE FRIENDS ARE A BIT NERVOUS ABOUT GETTING SEASICK.

I AM TORN ABOUT GOING BACK TO TRUNK BAY WHICH IS BEAUTIFUL BUT I THINK I WANT TO TRY MAGENS BAY THIS TIME. IF WE GO TO MAGENS BAY WE WILL DO IT ON OUR OWN.

WE WILL BE AT THE RADISSON THE DAY BEFORE. WE ARE ARRIVING AROUND 1 PM FRIDAY. WE WILL PROBABLY BE AT THE POOL MOST OF THAT TIME.

DID I SEE SOMEWHERE THAT THE PALO RESERVATIONS ARE DONE SOMEWHERE ELSE OTHER THAN THE RESTAURANT ITSELF? I THOUGHT I SAW THAT ON ONE OF THE NAVIGATORS THAT WERE POSTED ON ANOTHER SITE? DOES ANYONE KNOW?

Sapphire beach was not that long a ride, but it is past Megans bay (our taxi driver took us to an overlook and we got some pictures from above of Megans Beach. Very beautiful. The cab ride only took about 20 minutes. There is also a pool there to use.

Sapphire Beach is the same beach DCL takes their excursion to...we happened to be right next to all the DCL people and saved tons of money. Also could come and go on our own schedule. DCL does provide a buffet lunch but the cost was still not worth it. We also saw a lot of iguanas around...didn't bother you but they were cool to look at!!

My friends are also on a waiting list still for early dining. We already have early dining and I was hoping once we got to the 60 days they would get moved. What do you think the chances are that they will accomodate them so that we will be together? We are already linked together. They also booked in the Fall but I guess the early seating went fast. Worst case scenario is that we move to 8:30 with them. I really don't want to eat that late - not because I would not like it - I would without children! And I like to hang out at night a bit without kids and I am afraid if we eat at 8:30 the kids heads will be in their Mickey Noodle soup and then back to the room we go. All dressed up and no place to go!
Ideally - 6 pm dinner and show with kids, then kids to club and adults to adults club for cocktails and strictly adult conversation after a day at the Mickey/Goofy pool. ;)

Well my twin #2 didn't make it. It died two to three days ago according to sonogram measurements. I had a feeling in my heart on Saturday that something had changed I don't know how to exactly describe it. One thing I noticed is that my horrible nausea has gone down quite a bit in the past few days.

Twin #1 is doing great. It has a heart rate of 149 beats per minute. I actually heard it, it was so cool! The baby measured yesterday at 13mm and is around 7 weeks 4 days according to the measurements. Today I am actually 8 weeks pregnant going from last menstrual period. I don't really understand how I can be 8 weeks but the measurements yesterday are 7 weeks 4 days, unless it is just growing slowly. Which I was told it is growing at a perfect rate. 1 1/2 weeks ago it measured 6mm and yesterday it measures 13mm so it has more than doubled in size. The ultrasound technician told me that as I get further along we will get a better idea of actual due date, but for now my due date is November 27th which is Thanksgiving day. She said that this twin is perfect (so far).

I Luv Disney Cruise,

I'm so sorry to hear that your twin didn't make it. The same thing happened to me. My first sonogram showed two sacs which meant fraternal twins, but one sac was much smaller than the other and the doctor told me right away that one might not make it. The doctor was right, but the second twin grew stronger and stronger and is now a healthy 5 year old. He was 9 Lbs, 6 oz. at birth. The good news is that the twin is absorbed back into your body and will not harm you or it's twin in any way.
I still think about my lost twin, but my son has enough energy for 2 kids and there are times when I wonder if I could have taken care of 2 of him at the same time. They say things happen for a reason even though it's hard to imagine what that reason is.
Enjoy your pregnancy and take good care of yourself. Hope to meet you on the cruise. We're geting closer and closer.

Hmmm... we booked through DVC Member Services. Both UPS and Fed Ex have already made their deliveries in my neighborhood for the day without stopping here! :( Patience is not my best virtue!! ;)

I was thinking one month from today we are on the ship, how is that possible. Am I wrong on when the ship leaves port?

Then I saw how you are comparing 17th of April to 17th of May.

But, actually if you count from Thursday to Thursday is one week.
So, it really is 4 weeks 2 days from today that we are on the ship leaving port.

But, what is a two day difference any way who cares it is around the corner!?

Ok, now that I have bored you all I will sign off for now. ;)

Our docs were printed today. We should have them by the end of next week. (DH had to call because he got a notice to serve jury duty the week we leave. I sent him to work with our confirmation sheets and he sent the originals along with the form to be excused.) At least I have some idea as to when I can start stalking FedEx and UPS!! ;)

Hi,

have had a beautiful day here. Just went to Home Depot to get my Mickey paint swatches. Got both colors. Alien green is probably the best one though.

Got my tanktop out for boarding the ship. It worked last time to meet Dis members, so I hope it will work again. Lime green with blue poka dots, and Mickey on the front. The mickey is small though. If you see me, say hi!!!!

When I told my husband I was going to start packing, he told me I was crazy.

Hope you all had a great day!!!

I washed shorts and shirts yesterday, will be ironing later this week, and laying them all out. That will make me really feel that we are going soon.

Have a great week, and just think, only 3 1/2 weeks to go.

Guess it's time to think about our next vacation. If I have something booked, then I don't get depressed. Maybe the Western next year?
Raining today, so maybe a good day to do some ironing. I think that I'll feel a lot better once my summer clothes are all set to put into the cases.
Squiggle, I caught the Sat. 3 o'clock showing on the travel channel, and was babysitting 3 of my grandchildren. Made them watch it too. The 6 yr old said, Nana I want to go too.

Hi Everyone,

I've been reading your posts since February when we booked our 5/17 cruise. I finally decided I should introduce myself since I feel I know all of you!

This is my family's first Disney cruise, although technically it shouldn't be. We were scheduled to go on the 11/30/2002 cruise that was cancelled because of the Norwalk virus. So, we are doubly psyched! Traveling with me will be my DH, my DS (8) and my DD(5). We are going with my DH's family. A total of 21 of us. 13 adults and 8 kids! I'm sure you won't miss us.

As Donnabres has been posting, it has been a long cold winter up here in the Northeast and we definately need this vacation!

Has the DIS meet been offically been scheduled? Catch me up to speed!

But, meanwhile --comeon down. Weather is wonderful down here!!!

We will be on the Magic 5/17 with a wedding crowd of about 30. Don't worry we're not rowdy... more of a family oriented crowd of all ages. (And my son in law is the minister officiating.) The groom is a fire fighter, and one groomsman a police officer, one an EMT. What a well protected cruise we all will have. Can't wait for the fun, but we don't have our documents yet! Should I worry?

Hi Granna,

How exciting for your family! Is the marriage happening onboard? We are also a large group, I think that makes for more fun. And you are right. I do feel safer knowing your crew of public servants will be onboard.

I think you should try and track down your documents. How long ago did you book? We have had ours for a couple of weeks now. But don't panic. Maybe your TA has them and just hasn't called yet. No worries!

Anyway, welcome to the boards.

Ana is a subtropical storm. I think this is only the second year they started naming subtropical storms. Last I heard, Ana isn't supposed to turn into anything major. It is sustaining 40 mph winds and will miss Bermuda.

I did hear this is supposed to be a bad season for hurricanes. Let's hope it waits until June to kick into gear.

Granna here ,
with a couple of questions from experienced travelers...
A few of our group will really be pinching pennies, especially with larger families. One family is even considering staying on board on one of the first two ports. I guess it will be peaceful on board, but are the regular amenities open? buffets, poolside snack bars, etc? Oceaneers? I am tempted to do a morning excursion and then come back and play with grandson while his folks go ashore to shop. Can we go back and forth? I am such a newbie. help us out here. Thanks.

Psiklops
04-24-2003, 01:29 PM
Granna, yes, everything will be open as usual on port days. There are also on-board activities planned as well, though not as numerous as on a regular day at sea. You can take a look at a navigator (list of the day's activities) from our day at Cozumel here (http://psiklops.brinkster.net/Trips/ShowDoc.aspx?TripDateID=1&DocumentID=5). As you can see, there's plenty of other things to do, including seeing a movie onboard (they run constantly from noon 'til midnight - plus they're free) to lounging around at the pools.

You can go back and forth on and off the boat as much as you want - you might just have to wait a few minutes for one of the tenders.

Hope this helps :)

If nothing else... my family is prepared for Tropicali night!!

Oh, I even found some lanyards at Old Navy ($2.50). They don't have the plastic holder for the KTTW card, but I've got a hole punch so I'll bring that along. (Saw that suggested somewhere on these boards.) I had checked Target and WalMart, but couldn't find them (yes, I asked). I think these will do.

granna
04-24-2003, 06:11 PM
I found the 97cent lanyards at our Walmart in Atlanta area. there is a holder with plastic window attached. They were near the watches and sport wallets. Also got my gallon zip lock bags, sun screen, aloe, and much more. Trying to space the purchases out over the next couple of weeks!

Question from my daughter. Can you get bottled juices? Cranberry or kid punch flavors? Or should we bring some from home. ? You probably have to pay for them like soft drinks , right?

granna....as a tip, bring along a few different colored highlighters....we used these to highlight each activity each person wanted to do. It really helped, because on our first cruise I saw things in the Navigator that I wanted to do, but I wound up forgetting because there was so much going on. This way I highlight the things I really do not want to miss and keep referring to the my Navigator all day....make sure you keep it with you all day..you will need it!!!

We are doing the the van with trailer too (12 of us). I was definitely feeling like a hick from New Hampshire! Glad to see you city-folk are doing the same thing.

It's raining pretty good here too. The only good thing about all of this bad weather is my DD (5) hasn't wanted to wear any of her new sandals! She is a fashion plate already!

I have no idea what I'm going to wear the first day and I think I'm done shopping, but that could always change! ;) I still need to pick up the green Mickey from Home Depot. I think I'll do that today.

I'm having a rough day. Found out yesterday, our phone is out (since Wednesday). Bell South said since they've been having so many problems, they were going to replace the line to the house last night around 6. They didn't show. Took DH to the airport at 6 this morning. Later I went to the Y. While I was gone (for about an hour), Bell South came and said they were going to check the box in back. (My older DSs were home.) By the time I got home, they were gone... still no phone. No, we don't have a cell phone. Fine, I figure I can deal without a phone. I get online to do some shopping and go to a check recent order I put in on the 18th through one of Amazon's merchandisers. Guess what? My account has been charged and now there is no record of my purchase. Fine, I get the number to call Amazon, but guess what? I forgot I don't have a PHONE!!!! *taking a deep breath*

mmouse and sweet caroline - We 5 are not arriving until Saturday. We catch a plane out of Detroit late on Friday and stay in the Embassy Suites.
mmouse - thanks for the yorride info. We are in the process of booking some form of transportation to the MAGIC on Saturday. We plan on arriving shortly after 11 AM. Can't wait. Got some bad news today - they cancelled the Billy Joel- Elton John Concert in Toronto today. At least we still have the cruise to look forward too :)

dave and kim.....My DD19 went to BJ & EJ concert last summer...said they were awesome..sorry they cancelled.

DD15 is going to Avril Lavigne on May 13th and I am hoping for Matchbox 20 tickets for Mother's Day..they play on the 14th!!!

Sweet Caroline....when I told my kids about the trailer for luggage they looked at me and said...who are we, the Clampett's!!! I said....well, if you did not pack so many shoes we probably could have gotten away with a compact size car!!!!

The girls did not think that was funny, but I did!!!

Woo hoo!! Got my Mickey paint swatches. They were out of Alien Green so I got the next closest. I also found those darn 97 cent lanyards at WalMart. I think I'm going to use the plastic from there and somehow rig them to the Old Navy lanyards I already bought. I also bought some lamenating sheets for the Mickey heads so we can have them with us all week!!

Ohmygosh!! Three weeks from today, we'd already be SAILING!! Wow!! Gotta take a moment to let that actually sink in!!

UK Angel - I don't know how you can handle the double excitement of your wedding and the cruise. I remember pre- feminist days hearing about hen parties up north.

Anyone been on the Eastern cruise since 9/11? Just wondering what time you have to report to Immigration in St Thomas?

Just three weeks from right now - we'll be on our way!

Good morning,

Had to laugh at the shoe thing, got my shoes out last night and lined them up. I think that I am going to have to cut down on the list. Also got my dinner clothes out.

I am thinking that if I were smart, that I would wear a dress 2 nights, who is going to remember? We ususally always go back to the room to change right after dinner. For formal and semi formal nights, I have a pair of black chiffon palazzo (spelled wrong) pants and was thinking I should just bring 2 tops. Probably won't, and will be upset when I try to close the bags.

Still raining here. Seems that's all I've been saying all winter, rain or snow. That's ok as long as the sun is shining 3 weeks from now.

Have a great day......

FYI for luggage....Sears put on sale a really nice 29" Forecaster brand luggage for only $29.99....regularly $79. Actually all three sizes when on sail for $29.99 each. Sale started yesterday.

They also had the 25" in size and the a 22" (which also came with a travel tote).

They are a dark grey/blue color and have nice wheels and telescoping handle. My mom & dad left for WDW today (had to get up at 4:00 am to drive them!!) and she needed some luggage, so I took her shopping yesterday. I am going to use the large one for hubby for our cruise!!! I have my favorite MM luggage that I use!!

I think I am through shopping, although we still need film, and such. Now I need to have a dress rehearsal of outfits to see how they really look and figure out which shoes and jewelry to take.

What made me think of this... we saw a teen girl decked out for her prom (strapless and backless with just some strings holding her dress). She was trying to walk and hold the top of her dress up and the bottom of her dress down in the wind. I am wondering about wind and skirts (not doing any strapless stuff :-) ).

Wind can be exciting; especially on the way to dinner. Just remember, once you are dressed up real nice DO NOT go out on deck! We were doing well one night last cruise. Then we were waiting for an elevator on Deck 4 and the outside doors opened on both sides at the same time - it was unbelievable! Everyone was grabbing hair, skirts, small children. Actually, it was pretty funny.

We seem to have a few extra paint swatches if anyone will need them.
The shopping is done (except small things we nned to get last minute). The suitcases are out and the piles have been transferred from the bureau. This is lookin' good.

Fran, I'm jealous. We're borrowing luggage so don't have it yet to start piles.

I'm headed to Home Depot in the morning, looking for paint swatches and garden edging!!!! Whatta combo!!! LOL

We're all set. Believe it or not, the DH and DS are the ones that need shoes!!!!!!!! I've cut mine down to 4 pair by making all my dress up clothes go with either white or black sandals. A big difference from last year's 7 pair. Woohoo!!!!!

Beautiful day here today in southern NJ. Tomorrow's supposed to be even better. I've been gettin myself in cruise mode with daily dips in the hot tub. Tomorrow I plan to bake in the sun for at least 30 minutes. Another case of really pale Irish skin here.

Lovely days ahead for us all. Seeya at the Port!!!!

I cleaned out all my closets and dressers drawer tonight...chucked a ton of old stuff. Now packing should be much easier!! Even started making piles in a laundry basket that I can just transfer over to the suitcase.

I also plan on getting some sun tomorrow!!

Regarding shoes....I think I posted this already but in case anyone did not catch it...this is what a cabin with 4 teen girls looks like. All the shoes in the cabin are not even in the pic. Some are in the closet and there is a whole row lined up on top of the couch as well!! Hence my previous comment about the luggage trailer vs. compact car!!!

seven pair is not over the top.....I hate bringing a lot of shoes but sometimes you just have to.

I hope to only bring 1 pair of black dressy sandals for both formal nights, 1 pair of sneakers, 3 pair of various sandals for other times.

MJ- That picture is just too funny. It resembles my DD 15 closet! I can't wait to see how many pairs of shoes she takes this time. On second thought, what size shoes are your girls taking? If they wear a size 8 then my daughter could borrow their shoes and have more room for her clothes!!
Put shorts on today. We are to hit a high of 70F. It better.

Should everyone in our party wear the green Mickeys? Or just the adults? I got enough for all of us, but then I thought maybe only DH and I would need them. Then I sarted thinking, well, maybe the older two boys would need them in case some of the boys here were wearing them, they could get together? What are you guys doing?

Hi all I guess it is time to join in on all the fun. My DDIL (Sweet Caroline) won't let me wear my lime green Mickey swatch if i'm not officially on the boards. I can't believe our cruise is so close. Just finished making my 4 DGD's tropical dresses. I guess we are really going! See you all soon.

SweetCaroline
04-28-2003, 04:55 PM
Good job Eileen (Gram7)! I'll give you your lime green Mickey sticker now!

ToDisney, I think I'm the only one in my family wearing the green Mickey. My DH thinks I'm totally crazy being on the boards and my two kids are to young to get it (DS 8 and DD 5). Plus, I wouldn't want any strangers talking to them...you know, imposter DIS'ers. Okay, now I think I am crazy! Anyway, I think it will just be me and Gram7!

ToDisney

Sweet Caroline... no!! That's exactly why I asked!! The more I thought about it (after grabbing enough for the 5 of us), I started to worry if it was a good idea. I had decided against it for my 3 year old, but wondered about my 12 yo and almost 9 yo. (Although he gets tons of paint swatches every time we visit Home Depot... LOL!! "MICKEY!!!!!!!!!")

donnabres
04-29-2003, 07:40 AM
Why not let the kids wear them, but put your DIS name on them? That way they will feel special too!!!!!
My husband thought I was nuts when a couple weeks ago I told him that I thought I would go to Home Depot. That's not where I would ususally go shopping. When I came home with the Mickey swatches, he really thought I lost it.

You can tell that he's not one of us. Have a great day.

I might put the swatches on the kids for the Sail-Away party when I know they are with me. Of course, my DD(5) may not want to wear it if it doesn't match her outfit! I know, I'm in big trouble with her!

I'm thinking I'll stick the green swatch on my DH's back. He won't know it's there, but you all will know he is with me!

Is everyone putting their screen names on their green mickey stickers?

SQUIGGLE
04-29-2003, 01:42 PM
I was thinking of putting THE DIS on the ears; then my screen name top center; then my real first name under it. What do you think? Maybe for youngsters only the screen name?

OK, only one more quick trip to WalMart should do it. Want the batteries and film to be as fresh as it can be.

Just came back from a walk. The weather has been nice last couple of days. Should have sat out on the deck to get some sun but didn't.

As I was walking, I kept thinking that in just a little over 2 weeks we'll be on the MAGIC!!!! I hate to exercise, but I love to walk and think of what's to come.

Well, gotta go make supper. Can't wait for 12 days no dishes, or making beds, or cooking.

I don't have my Lime green paint swatch yet either. But I have a huge bruise on my leg which will probably be the right shade of green in time for May 17. Got the bruise trying to maneuver through the maze of bags and boxes strewn all over the bedroom floor. At least one bag of "must haves" has followed me home every day. This is like Christmas!!
