Old thread, but I'm here. :) I'm not "from" here though KWIM? BUT I do LOVE it!!! We'd stay forever if we could afford it and if family wasn't so far. And I'd pick Big Island I think...LOL..

Though I would share. a bidget tip that only folks from HI would understand....we are thinking of taking a small 3 cup rice cooker, rice, nori and spam. Figured we can cook the spam in the micro!

My sisters and I will be there from August 20-25. I hope it's not too hot and muggy!

Great idea! I didn't think of that.

Spam in the micro is actually not that bad :) Gets it nice and crispy. Another option with your rice is to buy that mix you put inside and then cook, it's got nori and all kinds of yummy stuff. At least the nori won't go stale there.

speaking of rice, my sil lives in so. cal and when her boys were younger and had friends sleeping over, she'd make eggs and rice for breakfast and they'd always freak out, egg's for breakfast? Anyhow, now that's all they want to eat. Kinda funny.

WOW!!! There are much more from Hawaii than I thought!

Too funny - I tested out the spam in the micro this weekend. Poured Yoshida's teri sauce over it an microwaved for a minute, then made the musubis! It was great! We plan on eating out for breakfast (mostly character) and dinner, so musubi's for lunch work out great!

We're also having groceries delivered from Vons. Cases of water, milk & cereal etc. Trying to budget as much as possible....
