Day 4 Wednesday

Well, the final day had arrived and I felt pretty glum. I really didn't want to leave. Kev was feeling a lot better, but definitely not up to trailing around the Park. I decided to leave him in the room, with Emilia, while I went around the Park, and took advantage of a bit of EMH. First, a photo call at breakfast, with the First Lady of Disney herself:

I wanted a final photo of the other 'Ladies of Disney' in our DHL room. I want that headboard!:rotfl:

Yet another of the youngest two:

http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr19/Joolz1910/ebay3474.jpg

We had a nice bit of customer service. I went down to Reception and explained that DH had been ill. I asked if it would be possible for him to stay in our room until we left. As we were catching the VEA at 12.30, they agreed. This was great for him and Emilia as he could relax and she could have a good old crawl around.:)

I have to say something about winter clothing. My two are hardly ever pictured in hats and gloves. Jess refused to zip her coat up and a random woman on BTM ticked me off a bit by trying to get her to zip her coat up, after telling her she would get cobwebs in her hair on the ride!:confused3 Anyway, I basically overdid it with the warm clothing. Jess had on thermals, tights, salopettes, fleece and snow boots, topped off with a thick coat. She was like toast. Every time I checked her hands, she was super-warm. I'd rather they were too warm than too cold though. One other thing: don't bother buying Gumbies. I bought them for myself and Olivia because I thought they were waterproof. They are not! They have a basic design fault in that the backs of the boots are suede, so let in the water. Result: wet feet.

Rant over!:rotfl:

If anyone ever wonders whether to bother going to the Parks on their last day, just see what we would have missed, had we not taken advantage of the couple of hours we had...

First of all we went on BTM, twice! We all love this ride. It was much easier without a pushchair and rucksack to think about (Sorry Emilia). We headed to see the Dragon and on the way, we heard some familiar music. It was the Character Express!

http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr19/Joolz1910/ebay3479.jpg

We stood and watched with an unobstructed view. I was twirling Jess round and having a good old dance. Olivia was a bit embarrassed. We then headed back up to the Castle to see the dragon. Despite being a scaredy cat, Jess had a soft spot for this particular DLRP resident.

http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr19/Joolz1910/ebay3420.jpg

As we entered Fantasyland, we were surprised to see the Sleeping Beauty show, so we stood and watched this. The Park was really empty and although it was raining very lightly, it wasn't too cold to stand around. Olivia got a picture with a Lord and Lady (?) These two were really lovely and tried to encourage Jess to get in the photo. She wouldn't oblige. Boy am I glad I didn't pay 80 for me and her to eat at Auberge! She had to be pushed to stand with any character and was soooo shy around them. It took me by surprise as she is my super-confident dancing queen.

http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr19/Joolz1910/ebay3501.jpg

We went on Peter Pan again. This is Disney to me! We were going to go on the Carousel but time was limited and Olivia was desperate to spend the last of her money. We visited the Emporium and the girls spent a few euros and then we reluctantly headed towards the exit. Once again, we heard some familiar music - it was Mary Poppins! Jessica is a particular fan and was thrilled to see the show. We stood and watched this for a while and then it was time to go.

http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr19/Joolz1910/ebay3509.jpg

We got back to our room and Kev had finished the last of the packing. It was time to leave the room. Olivia was sitting on the bed, looking very sorry for herself. Kev asked Olivia and Jessica if they had enjoyed Disneyland Paris. I started singing 'Just like we dreamed it...' and Olivia burst into tears! I asked her what was wrong and she said that she never wanted to leave. This is so unlike her. I hugged her and told her not to cry. She said, 'Please Mum, don't sing that song - it makes me so sad, I want to cry.' So that is why the trip report is called 'Just Like We Dreamed It' - because the song is officially banned in our house because it makes Olivia cry! Well, I just had to promise another trip, didn't I?

Glad to hear that you had a great last few hours before leaving & that Kev was feeling a bit better. Poor Olivia, I was nearly crying for her when I read it! You'll have to take her back again. I know you have said that you feel you would have to go back to the DLH, but for me, I have stayed in cheaper places, both onsite & offsite, and each time it has been just as good (I only stayed there this time because it was my 40th because i usually prefer selfcatering).

I should get round to doing mine tomorrow night - DH starts back to work again tomorrow night so I'll have some time! Thanks for a great report - just a pity we didn't get to speak to eachother!

Nikki, you should do what I do and 'price it up' just out of curiosity. I spend a ridiculous amount of time on the Disney website, checking out prices. Wouldn't it be nice to get a new ticker?

I will always go in January because it's the only time of year I can afford. It was 1240 for all of us, including flights and hb+ vouchers for 3 nights at DLH. It was a lot more than I'd budgeted for, but I lost control a bit.:rotfl2:

I loved reading your trip report days - I'm glad to read that your DH was feeling better on your last day.

Poor Olivia, I know exactly what she means :sad1: . Just out of curiosity, did she remember anything from her last trip to DLRP?

You won't believe this Elaine, but she remembered almost everything from her trip in 2005. She even remembered going to buy her snowglobe from the Santa Fe shop on the last day. It was uncanny how she knew her way around. I got lost almost constantly. That is partly why I wanted to take Jess at a similar age - I think it's a different kind of magic at 4 or 5.:)

Thats so cool :goodvibes , and I'm sure you're right, young children remember so much. I first took my DD when she was 5, the first character she met was Daisy, and from that moment on, Daisy was her favourite - and she still is.

I'm sure Olivia (and Jess) will have lots of new fabulous memories from their DLH trip to add to Olivia's old ones now.

I am so easily influenced. :rotfl2: I have just ordered the Disneyland CD for Jessica for her birthday. :thumbsup2 Looks like we'll be singing 'Just Like We Dreamed It...' but quietly so Olivia doesn't hear!

Hi Julie, I'm so envious of anyone who is going to DLRP - especially staying at the DLH.;) I loved this hotel but I see the problem with staying there - you don't want to stay anywhere else afterwards!:lmao: I hope you have a wonderful time.:goodvibes

Awwww bless, the kids make you feel awful don't they? My oldest cried both times as we were leaving which has also made me promise another trip. They know that they have to wait until next year now though, so are pretty depressed at the moment.

Sounds like you had a brilliant time though. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I've loved reading your trip report too.

Thanks.:goodvibes Mine will have to wait until next January and I'm not sure I can afford the DLH again. I told DH I was thinking of a return trip and he went rather quiet. He knows it will take over my life. Being a DISer is a full-time occupation.:rotfl2:
