It's getting closer! What is you ask? Time for the DIS Divas to hit Disneyland once again. :cool1:
For anyone who's missed our giant trip planning threads on the Disneyland board, I'll start with a little history behind the trip, and an introduction.
My name is Beth. :wave2: Here I am!
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d37/mommaU4/October%20Vacation/DSCF5838-1.jpg
I am a SAHM with four kids. I grew up in Southern California, but lived in Northern Michigan from 2004-2007. While living in MI, I got the idea to start a Ladies Only Trip to Walt Disney World. We took that trip in 2006 and it went great. We had over 40 ladies, it was a blast and to this day I am still very close to several of the ladies from that trip.
Fast forward to 2007. By then we'd moved from snowy MI to sunny Nevada, and had bought family annual passes to Disneyland!! It was so nice to be back in the park that I grew up going to and considered to be like a second home. :goodvibes
In November of 2007, I decided to start a thread on the Disneyland section of the DIS to see if there was any interest in a Girls Only Trip similar to the one we did in WDW.
Well, needless to say there was plenty of interest and the first annual Girls Only Disneyland Trip took place in April of 2008. We had a huge group of ladies, and it was definitely a success!
So that brings us to where we are now; about a month and a half away from the second annual Girls Only Disneyland Trip which will take place March 5-9, 2009. We have over 50 ladies signed up, with a nice mix of trip "veterans" and "newbies".
The excitement is building, the planning has been going full steam ahead lately and I just thought it would be a nice time to start a pre-trip report. So grab a fun drink and join in as the count down begins to the Girls Only Trip!! princess:

OK, quick confession time, I have two reasons for starting this PTR right now.
One, because the trip is finally getting closer and a PTR always makes it seem more exciting. :cool1:
And two, because I just had two molars pulled yesterday and am recovering at home in bed. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but it was still pretty unpleasant. And right now I am bored out of my mind, tired of watching videos, STARVING and looking for something to keep me occupied. :rotfl:
I just want to warn you though that I am on pain meds, so please, if something doesn't make any sense or is spelled completely wrong, blame it on the Vicodin. ;) Thanks!

Great Start Beth! Nothing spelled wrong yet.:cool1:
My name is Tracey, and I am one of the newbies going on this trip although I read along on the board with all the ladies that went last year and read the trip reports and died of envy. I was so thrilled when this years trip was announced! I just knew I had to go along. Not sure when I talked to my hubby about it, but he pretty casually said, "Sounds Good Momma, what ever makes ya happy". I am fairly certain he was not paying attention, because when I brought it up again, I had to convince him that we had already discussed it. But I did not bring it up again until after I had booked the airfare, so there was no changing his mind.
Here's a picture of me at my favorite place last year on the family trip that went awry and caused our do over trip this Feb.

Hi! I am also a newbie to the Dis DL Ladies-Only Trip. However, I did attend the WDW Ladies-Only Trip in 2006. That was a blast! I am looking forward to this one at DL!
I am (just turned) 32 years old with a DH and a 4 yr old DD who would just DIE if she knew her momma was going to DL without her. We went on a mommy-daughter trip this past June and we are planning on taking her again in the Fall/Winter 2009. So she will live...as long as she doesn't know that I am going solo.:ssst:
I need this trip desperately! I am a full-time student trying to get my Bachelors in Education (1 1/2 yrs left-woot!) and a full-time teaching assistant in a 5th/6th grade classroom...along with those duties, I am a mom, wife, and a do-er of all things domestic :laundy:. So basically, I need a break! lol
I am looking forward to making some great friends and having a blast!
Here is a pic of Beth and I at the 1st WDW ladies-only trip:

Hi Tracey!! I'm so glad you joined this time! :) And you've done a great job of jumping in there, making friends and taking part in all the planning. For those who don't know, Tracey is overseeing the VIP Tour that some of the ladies are taking.
I have to say that is too funny about your hubby not really paying attention!! Sounds like a typical guy. ;)
I love that picture of you btw! I think it's the first one I've seen of you! :goodvibes

Yes, Miss January is one of the ladies I met on the WDW trip! I'm so glad we've remained friends all these years. She's truly a sweet heart and I can't wait to do another trip with her. And she's going to be my roomie! :cool1:
OMG, I remember that pic!! Whispering Canyon Cafe right? LOL You look totally adorable and cute as always. I on the other hand.........:crazy2: What kind of smile is that I'm making??? :rotfl2:

Hi everyone!
My name is Jane and I am also a newbie on the Divas trip this year. I started thinking about going this past summer and at that point my DH and DS were going to come along and I was going to just join up for a meal or too. But, since Beth and I both live in the greater Las Vegas area we were able to meet up for lunch and shopping one day along with one other Girls Trip attendee who also lives in the area. Once I met the two of them and we made plans to travel together I was able to convince my DH that I could and should go without the boys this time!
So, a little bit about me... I am 33 years old (although I don't feel like I can possibly be that old most days) and I am the mother of a 16 month old little boy. I grew up in Northeastern Ohio and went to college in Michigan, then moved back to Ohio for grad school. After grad school I moved to central Illinois for 3 years, then central Pennsylvania for 3 years and then 2.5 years ago my DH and I made a major move and came out to Las Vegas.
In addition to my jobs as a wife and mother, I am also a full time college administrator whose main job function is to advise the fraternities and sororities on the campus where I work. My DH also works in higher education although at a different school from me, so between the two of us we are a pretty busy family. Because of my job responsibilities I have to work a few evenings a week and typically one weekend day every month. Due to the hecticness (I don't think that's really a word, but it is now!) of raising a toddler and trying to keep 1000 college students in line, I use DLR as my escape from reality! I try to get there 5-7 times a year (we are premium APs) for at least a 3 day weekend if not longer. But, ever since my DS was born my Disneyland trips have been very different as you can imagine. Seriously, I think that my son could spend the entire day with Chip 'n Dale and/or Pluto at the Visa meet and greet OR on the King Arthur Carousel. So, I am really looking forward to a trip that is all about me and doing what I want to do!!!
Oh, and I think it's important to know that although I have been a Disney girl from birth, I never got to go to either DL or WDW as a kid. My first trip to either park happened when I was 26 and my DH (then DBF) and I were attending a conference in Long Beach and we added 2 days to the front end of the trip to check out DLR. At that point I thought that going to DL was just something to bide my time until we could go to WDW (which we did 2 years later) and I never imagined that we would someday move to the west coast and become APs!
We haven't received the PP cd from our Christmas trip yet, so I am adding a picture from our Halloween trip. I tried to find one of just me (none at all!) or one where my DS is smiling, but unless there is a character in the photo, he has the same stoic look on his face in all of them. So, forgive the fact that my son looks like he is being tortured by being at the parks... I swear that in real life he loves DLR just as much as I do!
Anyway, I am looking forward to the trip and meeting all of the other DIS Divas!!!

Hi everyone, my name is Sarah and I too was on the original Disneyworld trip but this will be my first ladies only disneyland trip! I am very excited about seeing my friends again and meeting all these wonderful ladies!

This is me and January and one other lady on the first trip! I am on the left and January is in the middle!
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e6/sahbushka/IM001629.jpg
And here is one with January and Beth and a couple other ladies from our disneyworld trip! Beth is on the right and January is second from the left! Can't wait to create more memories and make more friends!
I am 30 years old and was a travel agent for almost 4 years at one point in my life! I loved being able to go to disneyland whenever I wanted. I am now working in a completely different line of work which I really enjoy though I work a lot of overtime. I have a 3 and a half year old son named Ryder whom I adore! and a 6 month old baby girl named Kiera who is teething right now....I am ready for a vacation. My dh and I have been married for 7 years and he understands my disney needs as I relate them to his computer needs! He is very supportive of my time away and for that I am very grateful.
A friend of mine from work, Heather (Lilycat) will be coming along on this trip and I am really thrilled to get to do this!

(this thread could also be seen as a photopass advertisement so far...)
I used to be a chiropractor, and someday I might get my license back and get some education in the very floaty and wonderful CranioSacral Therapy and do that...but for now I'm home with my 4 year old, with plans to homeschool (right now at this moment DS is working on letters and pre-reading with DH at DS's request). I'm opinionated :mic: , and after a lifetime of being too shy to speak up , the internet has set me free. Combine that with an inability to say things sweetly sometimes, and, well, I'm just hoping no one hates me:scared: . Toocherie can't hate me; she already seems to like me and is my roomie so she's stuck with me! :flower3:

I'm in my late 30's (and this will be my last year to say that :sad2: ), live in the SF East Bay Area, have two boys, ages 3 and 5, and have been going to DL and WDW pretty regularly since my boys came along. I work in marketing for a technology company and am fortunate to be able to work primarily from home - which means I'm pretty much on the computer all day long. My kids are not aware that I'm going to DL without them in March and my DH seems supportive. Let's just say he wouldn't dare to put up a fuss about DL Ladies trips as he needs my continued support for his yearly boys poker trips to Vegas and Reno.
I was on the DL Ladies trip last year, but only for a day and a half, so I left before Beth arrived.
I'm not taking meds, but I am falling asleep here too. I'm boring myself I'm afraid...that's why I will stay away from writing my own DL trip report.:sad2:
Can't wait to see you all in March!

You are too kind Beth. I have had a really wonderful time getting to know everyone online. Oh, and the VIP tour. Well, I'm sort of a control freak(but don't tell anyone!) and I have been planning my dream VIP for a long time now. So I am just thrilled to have this opportunity.
Okay, after your very sweet comment on my picture, I was afraid you wouldn't recognize me when I showed up and you would send me away when I showed up at the pizza party. You see, I like change. In the original picture, my hair was long, and also had been permed for about a year. Before that, just long and about as straight as yours. Well, given that my age is a bit more than yours, and I have a bit of grey, the perm coloring thing was giving me anxiety as I really hate over processed hair. So...I decided to go short and sassy. This is what I really look like, except I have lost 10 pounds:):

Hi there! I'm Tina, and this will be my first official Ladies Trip. Even though I was at DLR last year during the first Ladies Trip, I couldn't hang with the girls because I was with a stinky boy;) Well, I really do love my hubby, and he's not stinky at all, but I was so jealous of all the girls having such a great time, that I just had to go without him this year!
Last year the Ladies trip took place during the food and wind fest at DCA, so we met up with this guy:

That is me and Marty, with Guy Fieri in the middle.
We go to DLR often with our premium APs, and my mom often comes with us, so I thought I'd bring her along on this trip. I'll have to find a photo of her to post later.
I'm very excited to meet everybody in March. Lets just hope the crowds aren't like this:crowded: :crowded: :crowded:

No doubt that most of us will have a hard time sleeping on Wednesday March 4 because on March 5th it will be time to get up and make our way Disneyland!!

I'll be meeting up bright and early with Amy (bigskyernurse) and Jane (cheshiregirl). They both live in the Vegas area, and we are going to ride together. Amy was nice enough to offer to drive. Thanks Amy! :flower3:
I hate the drive from Vegas to Anaheim. It's so long and boring and you see lots of this:
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d37/mommaU4/June%20Disney%20Vacation/DSCF4898.jpg
Also I'm a nervous passenger so I hope they don't decide I'm too annoying and leave me stranded in Barstow or somewhere. Then again there is an In-n-Out and some outlet stores in Barstow so I guess if I was going to be ditched anywhere, that wouldn't be too terrible. :scratchin Mmmmmm, In-n-Out!! (sorry, I'm starving since I can't eat anything after having my teeth pulled and all food just sounds so good right now!! :rotfl2: )
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d37/mommaU4/October%20Vacation/DSCF6219.jpg
Well, assuming no one ditched anyone and we all make it to Anaheim our first stop will depend on what time it is. I'm not sure if we are going to try to check in at the HoJo or head straight to the parks.
I do know we are planning to meet up with a couple gals for lunch at 2:00 Ariel's Grotto in DCA.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d37/mommaU4/October%20Vacation/DSCF6103.jpg
I ate there in October with my 8 year old twins for the first time and loved it. I thought the food was good and I'm a sucker for the Princesses so it should be fun. It will be so nice to finally get to meet some of the ladies I've been chatting with almost daily for months now!!! :cool1:
I'm not sure what everyone else will have planned for after lunch. I think I will want to head to the hotel to get checked in and freshen up. We've got a fun first night planned.
Most of the ladies will be arriving at various times that day so by evening just about everyone will be there.
Cheryl (toocherie), Michelle (Zoemakes5) and Stacie (Stacerita) are organizing a Meet and Greet pizza party at the HoJo hotel to officially kick off our second annual trip! There'll be food, fun, drinks and games! We're doing a tote bag exchange, making some posters for our doors, and just going to have a great time meeting everyone and getting acquainted.
Callie (Dangermouse) has her husband working on designing some special lanyards for us that will incorporate our names on them, so we'll probably pass those out that night. Either that, or we'll need some name tags so we can all figure out who's who. :rotfl:
I'm not sure if we'll get any park time in that evening, depends on how long the party lasts and the park hours (which seem to change all the time lately), but I do know it's going to be a great night and we'll be ready to hit the parks first thing the next morning for our first full day!!! Whoo hoooo!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hi I am Kelly or Kelmac284 and I am 41. I have been on these boards for several years now and am an AVID Disney lover. I have been to Disneyland WAY too many times to count with my last trip being in July of 08. I am a current AP holder as well. I also love WDW and have been 3 times with my last trip being this past November.
I have not been on a DL girls trip yet, this will be my first. I saw the last thread and decided that I MUST go on this trip. I met Beth first and we started talking and I liked her right away! :)
I talked to my mom and told her it sounded like a lot of fun and so we decided we would go.
I already had a trip planned for April for my youngest's birthday so I was a bit worried about 2 trips so close together but we said what the heck and we are all set.
I am married to a man named Shane who is six years younger than me who is a tile setter. I work part time in my mom's real estate office doing the books.
I have one step daughter named Lynn who will be 17 next month and two bio daughter's Katy who is 9 and Shelby who is 7 (will be 8 in April).

Last year the Ladies trip took place during the food and wind fest at DCA, so we met up with this guy:
That is me and Marty, with Guy Fieri in the middle.
That is so cool that you met Guy Fieri! My 12 year old and I were watching him on tv last night. Did you happen to notice if he was wearing hearing aids? It sort of looked like it last night. My son is hard of hearing and we notice those sorts of things, but it was too hard to tell on the TV.

He wasn't wearing hearing aid when I met him. But I'm assuming what you saw was some sort of device used for his producer to communicate with him.

Sorry I disappeared for a bit there. The planning has been non stop lately!! :hyper:
We had a few problems arise for our first night Meet and Greet Pizza Party that I told you about.
First, we thought we were going to have to have it outside by the HoJo Garden Pool. Not good if the weather decided to play tricks on us and start to rain. So there was a bit of a scramble while trying to figure out how to make it all work. :sad2:
Then I got an email from Lorealle who said she and Willie made some calls and were able to free up the conference room for us to use that night!! :cool1: YES!! Thank you Lorealle! Problem solved. It will offically be held in the conference room, we can bring in food, drinks, decorations, etc so it's going to work out perfect!
Second, the issue of dessert came up. There was a bit of back and forth on that. Originally we were going to have each lady bring a treat to share. Either cupcakes, cookies, whatever.
But that's obviously difficult for those flying in.
Then ordering a cake from Disney Vacation Planning was mentioned. I liked this idea but after dealing with a rude CM  , and complications with ordering since we aren't staying onsite, I think we've ruled that out.
One of the ladies, Dawn/fairykin, mentioned she had been planning to bring some candy and that sparked a memory of a thread I'd read on the Budget Board about candy buffets!!!! I'd never heard of these before and I remember LOVING that idea.
So I pitched it to the ladies to see what they thought. I think so far it's a GO!! :cool1: If anyone is wondering what the heck a candy buffet is see this post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=29814473&postcount=1479
Anyway, it's been a busy day of planning, but the Meet and Greet is really coming together. They've got a fun (but secret) theme planned. There's going to be food, drinks, a candy buffet, music, a tote exchange, oh my! All in all I think it's going to be just a GREAT way to kick off the start of the trip and get to know each other.
So now that details are in place with Day One, on to Day Two. :thumbsup2

Sorry I started posting to this thread last week and then Stacielee and her DD arrived and never got back to it.
Anyway, hi everyone, I'm Cheryl and I attended the first Dis Divas trip last year. (I have since had numerous "mini-meets" with some of the ladies I met on that trip.)
I actually live 15 minutes from Disneyland and have a premium annual pass and try to go as much as I can (but sadly, not as much as I would like to). I am not married, don't have kids but have two extremely spoiled cats. I do like kids--and sometimes brings friends' kids with me on excursions to Disneyland (or when we went and saw the Tinkerbelle movie). I'm also having a friend's daughter over in a couple of weeks to make Valentine's Day cookies!
This is me--with a friend

I am a real estate attorney, who mostly works with shopping centers (leases). I had been dating someone for three years, but he and I broke up between Thanksgiving and Christmas (but don't be sad for me--it was a good thing :thumbsup2 )
I also participate in a Red Hat Society group, and am the Philanthropy co-chair of a group called Charter 100--a group of women whose primary aim started out being networking but has morphed into more of a charitable mission of providing scholarships to single moms who have gone back to college to better their family's lives. However, the best part about Charter 100 is that we have an "in" and every year we take a group of single parents (not just moms) and their kids to Disneyland and start out with a delish buffet breakfast at Club 33!! In fact, it was on the first Club 33 trip that my love of Disney was re-sparked, and well, here I am!
Since I'm the philanthropy co-chair I have to go, don't ya know? and this year I'm also bringing my Mom, who as some of you know has had a lot of medical challenges the last few years.
I have also recently become a DVC member, buying first an interest in Saratoga Springs in Orlando (took my first trip--with Mom--last November) and now the Grand Californian (which was my ultimate goal!) I have a couple of trips planned to Florida this year but we'll see if they actually pan out.
So, that's the short and sweet about toocherie! Looking forward to meeting all of you that I haven't met before and looking forward to seeing familiar faces too!

Hi Tracey: our main scholarship program is at a community college in Irvine, California (Irvine Valley College). If the scholars go on to a four-year college and/or graduate program we continue some support until they graduate (so some have gone on to UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton and we have continued to support them). But they have to start at Irvine Valley College. It's a small program, but part of what we also do is include the scholars in our quarterly lunch programs--in some ways I think this is even more valuable than the money they get (although I'm sure at the time they don't think so) because it exposes them to professional women, the business world, places they have probably never been, and ideas they have probably never thought of.

I'm lagging on this TR!! So I thought I'd post a quick over view of what's up next.
Friday will be Day Two and our first official day in the parks. Lots of things going on today. Hopefully no one is too hung over from the jello shots the night before. LOL
First up, I'm planning to go to the Princess Fantasy Faire. I love it there. More then my kids! They usually moan and groan about going there, so I thought it would be fun to get a few of the ladies, who ever is interested, in heading over there in the morning for some photos. Who knows, we might even have to buy ourselves a tiara or some princess ears to wear. princess:
After that I was thinking it would be nice to go as a group to ride It's a Small World since we'll be right next to it already. I haven't been on it since it re-opened and I'm excited to see the changes!
Some of the ladies will be on the VIP Tour this day and they have a fun itinerary planned for them to enjoy. But since I've opted not to do that, I'll probably just be wandering the park, soaking up the atmosphere and hitting some rides, (gotta do HM!) until time for lunch at the Blue Bayou.
That is one I'm really looking forward to!! I haven't eaten there for probably 15 years and I could never afford to with my family of six (can you imagine the bill???? :faint: ), so I'm eager to try it on this trip. :hyper:
After lunch will be some more park time. We didn't want to schedule every second of every day, so we'll just be hanging out hitting the rides until dinner.
We have reservations at Carnation Cafe that evening. There were so many of us that wanted to eat there, about 30 ladies, that we had to break it down into four time slots. But it all worked out and I am looking forward to some Baked Potato soup! ::yes::
Once dinner is over for everyone, we have a special tour planned. One of the ladies, Cheryl/toocherie has arranged for us to have a private tour of the new Grand Californian DVC villas. Yay! Thanks Cheryl.
There will be a Q&A time, as well as some Disney provided snacks and drinks. I can't wait. Not sure when in my lifetime I'll be able to afford DVC, lol, but I'm so excited to see what it's going to look like and learn more about it.
So that's basically it for the first park day. I can't wait. I'm really pleased with the plans so far and the way it's all turning out. Each day we have a nice mix of down time and planned activities, so it's worked out perfect.

Yep, the VIP tour is something you book through Disney. Here is a link to more information on it: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/parks/tours/detail?name=VIPTourServicesTourPage&bhcp=1
They have all sorts of fun things planned. And they'll get special seating for shows and parades, etc. Maybe one of the ladies will come on and post more about it. I know they are going to have a great time. :)

Onto Day Three, March 7, and probably our busiest day of the trip and one of the most fun! In my opinion anyway. ;)
The morning will be starting bright and early with a character meal at Storyteller's Cafe. Chip and Dale here we come! There are over 30 of us signed up for this so it's going to fun and I'm sure chaotic at the same time. :rotfl:
After breakfast we have a Scavenger Hunt planned. I've never really done one of these before. Not one like this, and not in Disneyland. I am so excited to see what they've come up with for us. We are going to be divided into teams, and I am fully prepared to buy each one of my teammates a churro to make up for it when I cause us to lose. :rotfl2: I'm not very good at these sort of things.
Anyone watch Amazing Race? I have this image of us all lined up, ready to run, just waiting for the go signal before we take off down Main Street knocking down little children as we go, and my teammates yelling at me to hurry up!! lol
The hunt should take a few hours, then we will split up again while some of the ladies take the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour. A great tour and one I really recommend. I took it with my husband back in October. I know they will really like it.
So while they are off doing that, it will be ride time for the rest of us! :cool1: Or maybe I'll try to fit Aladdin in there during the afternoon. I cannot leave without watching that show. I love it! :goodvibes
Dinner will be at different places that evening. Those on the WIWF tour will have a meal included so a small group of us are meeting at French Market and another group at Jazz Kitchen Express.
Finally after dinner a few of us will be parking our booties on some blankets in front of the Rivers of America to wait for Fantasmic. That's where I'll be. It's tradition for me. At least once during each DL trip I have to find my spot and people watch while I wait for my favorite show. I just hope the weather is nice. No rain please!!!
Once Fantasmic is over, I have no doubt we'll be closing the park that night going on rides and having a great time. If I don't fall asleep on a bench somewhere that is..........:faint: ;) It's going to be a looooooong day, but a fun one.
Have I mentioned I can't wait??? :hyper:

My name is Melody, and the most definate senior of the trip.:snooty: But as Cheryl(toocherie) has stated.........very young at heart.:hyper: So young at heart, that the youngest one on our trip will be my roomate. Yay Wendy! How funny is that? But I'm her Auntie Mel, and she is the mostest, funnest best roomie to have. :cool1:
I also went last year, and in October met up again for a mini meet with about 18 of us, and then just last month met up with a few ladies. It has been such a fun experience to meet and make new friends on the internet. My kids think I'm nuts. :rotfl:
I have a picture from photopass, but I don't know how to post it. All help is highly appreciated.

actually, what I find easier is this:
if there's part of a message I want to print I highlight the portion I want to print and then hit "File-Print"
When the box comes up giving you your print options, choose "selection" or "selected text" rather than Entire document or current page. Only what you highlighted (i.e., "selected") should print out.

I am not bringing shorts. I haven't worn shorts in at least 11 or 12 years. And I haven't worn capris in about 2 or 3. So if it's scorching, I'll be miserable, but that's just the way it is. I don't even wear shorts here when it's 112.
I'll probably bring 3 pairs of pants, two jeans and one black pair, couple shirts including one nice one for Club 33, two hoodies or sweatshirts, and the appropriate undergarments of course.
Oh, I bought my first pair of pajamas the other day!! I usually wear nightgowns but figured for the trip I should be more covered up. :rotfl:
So I found a cheap pair when I was at Walmart (can I tell you how much I hate it there???) and am bringing those. I look like a clown though!!! :clown:

Day Four is going to start out bright and early for some of the ladies. We have a few of them doing the Segway tour in DCA and I think it starts at 7:15 in the morning!! :scared: That's too early for me when I'm on vacation! Plus I'd probably fall on my butt or break my neck, so for those reasons I am skipping that tour. I can't wait to hear all about it though!!
From what I've heard, today will be a Magic Morning or Early Entry (whatever it's called) day. I've never used those before because we always had annual passes. This time however I will have a regular park hopper. I'm still not sure I'll be in the parks early though. Something tells me by day four, I might be ready to sleep in. :p We'll see.
At 10:00 we have a few of us meeting at the Tiki Hut to take a picture while we have a Dole Whip in honor of Bob "Bawb" Varley. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1812243
It was the idea of Jen (grizbuzz) and I think it's a nice one so I hope we get a good size group to show up for that. In fact, if there are any other DISers in the area at the time who would like to be in the pic for the Bawb thread, feel free to join us. :)
After that I'll probably just be passing the time waiting for the one thing I simply cannot wait to do.........:hyper:
And what's that??
Sunday brunch at CLUB 33!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
Oh yeah!! You read that right!!! :rotfl:
One of the ladies (Heather/LittleBlackRaincloud) has an "in" with a member of Club 33, and she was able to invite a few guests to join her. So she had a trivia contest that all the ladies were invited to participate in. The winners were given the chance to dine at the famous and exclusive Club 33 in Disneyland!! I am so excited. I can't wait. I have no idea what to expect, so I'm a little nervous too, but it's going to be great. And expensive, it sounds like! But I don't care. I'm sure it will be worth it. :goodvibes
After lunch I don't think we really have any specific plans. More free time. I'll probably hit whatever rides I haven't done yet at that point. Maybe see Aladdin if I haven't yet. I don't know. Just sort of play it by ear, and go with whatever I'm in the mood for at the time.
Closer to dinner time, around 5 we are going to have a group meeting at the Cove Bar in DCA for some appetizers and drinks. Yum! After that we will make our way back into DL to find a spot to watch the fireworks.
It's our last full day at the parks. In fact some of the ladies will be going home this day. I just know it's going to go by too fast, so I'm going to make sure to enjoy every single second of it while I can. pixiedust:

Your first pair? I can't believe it. I have tons. I usually use them to hang out in more than sleep in though. I love jammies.
Yep, my first pair in I don't know how long. Since I was a kid probably. I've always preferred nightgowns or sleep shirts. Or sweats and a tee. But this is my first pair of real official pajamas. ::yes::
I hate them. :smooth:
And January and Capri are going to laugh at me. :rolleyes2

Very cute!! I saw that when I was Googling. lol It's seems small though. Does it hold all your stuff easily enough?
Or do I just bring too much crap to the parks with me??? :bitelip:
:clown:
Especially the pants. They are really baggy, short and hot pink with writing on them. You and Capri will get a good chuckle at my expense. :lmao:
WHAT????? We don't ALL get to see you model them???

I am a sweats and t-shirt lady myself. I was shopping yesterday looking at nighties and I had my daughters with me and my 14 year old daughter Kody was telling me not to buy anything sexy because that was just gross. I got a good giggle out of that.

Beth--
You HAVE to do an early morning. It's the best time to be in the parks. I will personally wake you up and DRAG you there to make sure you do it! (and besides, you'll be up by 5am to do an early morning run with me)
And thanks for the plug on the Dole Whip meet. I hope lots of people (gentlemen welcome as well) make it!
Finally, have a BLAST at Club 33. Can't wait to see the pics.

Well, I have been putting off making this post because really who wants to think about the last day of the trip?? :sad1:
But all good things must come to an end. We are going to only have a few ladies left this day, so a small group of us are getting together to have a farewell breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. I've never had their breakfast but I've heard it's good and I'm a big fan of breakfast. Favorite meal of the day. :thumbsup2
After that I'm sure we will probably be doing different things. I know some of the gals have planes to catch, some will most likely be packing up and hitting the road, and some will try to squeeze in a bit more park time. I hope to be in the latter group, but we'll see. ;)
I know my travel mates and I talked about getting on the road around noon. Want to get home before dark after all! I'm sure on the way home we will be talking and laughing about the great time we had. And perhaps, already working on next years annual DIS Girls Only Disneyland Trip!!! :cheer2:

I've never even heard of that stuff.
I was actually thinking of going to Trader Joes for some snacks. I used to go there when we lived in CA, then when we moved to MI they didn't have one there. There is one here, but I haven't been since we moved, so it's been at least 4 years!
Anyone recommend anything yummy to look for when I go there? They used to have these butter toffee peanuts that I loved....:lovestruc

Their English toffee is so good. And I like their chips. If you like stuffed bell peppers their frozen ones are a big hit with my kids. I know that is not what you were looking for.

How could you not think of snacks???
Because the way our schedule is so jam-packed I don't think we're going to have time to eat when we are in our rooms!! We'll be rushing to our next event/food opportunity/drink opportunity/tour.

all I know is that they now have the Banfi Rosa Regale champagne, so I am a happy woman. They did, however, get rid of my my frozen chicken tikka marsala dinner and that made me sad. but they have the best hummus. ooohhhhh--hummus and pita chips for breakfast . . . . . . .

Now THAT is bad when you have NO ****s and they are so saggy that you don't even notice LOL. I was laying in bed that night and felt something itchy and was like what the heck and there was one of those sticky things under there that I had missed. THAT is pretty dang bad! LOL. Well, I am trying to keep my mind of my son's surgery tomorrow by making lists. Lots and lots of lists. Last night he says to me, "Mom, I'm the one having surgery and you are more worried about it then I am."
Well, duh! I'm a mom, that's what we do, we worry!!!!! :sad2:
So anyway, I'm probably the only obsessive compulsive person doing this, but I'm making a menu for Ruben while I am gone. What to fix for dinner on the school nights, and for the meals on the weekend.
I've got a huge grocery shopping list and I'm going to prepare as much of it ahead of time as I can, so it's basically heat and eat.
I'm going to go to the Dollar Store and get little gifts and cards from me for the kids to open over the weekend while I'm away.
I'm going to pick out and label the twins clothes for school so they know what to wear. And make a list of what homework gets done and when.
It's not that my husband isn't capable of doing all this himself. It's that I can't let go of the need to control everything and make sure it's all going as smoothly as possible while I'm gone.

LOL Well, I'm actually doing less this time then I did when I went to WDW for that trip. Back then I bought all these Hallmark cards for Ruben, one for each day I was gone. And for the kids too. I made sure the house was spotless before I left, the fridge was stocked, and all laundry washed.
Not sure I'll do all that this time. I'll wait until I get back to clean up whatever mess is made while I'm gone. I wised up on that one! :lmao:

I don't have to do much for my older two. They can fend for themselves. But the twins need the most help, so those will be the ones I'll be picking the clothes out for.

I have had a good laugh catching up this morning!!!
Beth..........I used to be the same way. But now I am slacking in the food preparation area.
But you know what? I think I will work on that. My DH will be in shock. Now I have to decide what to prepare. Something healthy. It's so much easier fixing cheesey, saucey, buttery dishes.:rolleyes1 The Paula Deen kind. :cool1: But he shouldn't have all that. :sad2:

I actually love baked Cornish Game Hen. Just saw that they have them at Costco last night--great price. (didn't buy them--have some at home in the freezer). Anyway, the healthiest way I know to prepare them is to cut up some lemons and limes, stuff them in the cavity, along with some herbs (I like rosemary and thyme), salt, pepper and garlic powder on the outside and stuff those babies in the over at 350. Takes about an hour and a half I believe (use a meat thermometer to check doneness). Or you can stuff them with stuffing--takes a little longer to bake then. That and a sweet potato and another veggie--yummmmmm! Perfect dinner. (Or, in lieu of the sweet potato--butternut squash--with a little butter and brown sugar and cook until tender)
I also have a recipe somewhere where you cut them in half and make a wine sauce that you marinate them (the cornish hens) in for a day and then bake. It is yummy too. I usually serve that with a mushroom pilaf--which is just rice cooked in beef broth rather than water with mushrooms sliced into it.

Actually, you'll need more than one! I'm sure your hubby will be able to eat one on his own (they're pretty small).

No--not at all. Really is like a miniature chicken. Makes a great presentation because everyone gets their "own" bird. (Or half bird, if doing the wine thing.) Not gamey like pheasant or those types. I don't even like duck but LOVE game hen.

I have seen them at the store, I will definitely have to get some!
I grew up in a Mexican home. My mom taught me how to cook. She hardly ever made turkey, chicken, or any food like that. If she did make chicken, she boiled it and then shred it to put in enchiladas or tacos. Most of the food I make is stuff I ate as a kid. So I am excited to try something new.

So have you baked a chicken? It's basically like doing that. But what's fun is that everyone gets their "own" (or 1/2 their own--I can't eat a whole one but men usually can). It's a very "festive" type of thing to cook.
I love Mexican food. I could eat it every day. I'm not Mexican, but grew up in a Mexican neighborhood--we make tamales for Christmas Eve every year.
I love to cook--just don't have the time and the audience. I was really happy with the short ribs I made--they WERE delish. Next time I think I'd either make mashed potatoes or some type of rice to go with them. I was trying to be healthy and didn't put enough butter on the noodles and they were a bit bland (altho the kids liked the parsley I put in them!)
So, what's your best Mexican dish to make (enquiring minds want to know) and how do ya make it?

I'm back! I've been once again neglecting this thread, but for good reason. I had family visit unexpectedly over the weekend and stay for a few days. It was fun getting out and playing tour guide.
But now that they are gone I can get back to the task at hand........planning for this trip!!! :cool1:
As of today we only have TWO WEEKS to go!!! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3:
I am so thrilled and cannot wait. I'm not even sure what to do next. I bought a few new t-shirts. I need to go tiara shopping for when we take our group pic at PFF. I need to price new cameras. (mine sucks!) Ummmmm, gosh, what else??? I feel like there is a lot to do and yet I don't know where to start. :rotfl:
I do know one thing! Thanks to all this food talk I now really, really want a tamale. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

My tote is one thing I have already taken care of. I'm excited, it has a whole theme to it. I hope whoever gets it likes it. :flower3:
Stacie, I can't remember but the tote exchange game we are playing, does it involve being able to steal others totes, like in those white elephant Christmas gift games?

Yes, it does involve stealing totes from each other. But in order to not have anyone's feelings hurt, we are keeping them wrapped uptil the "game" is over. That way what you are really fighting and stealing over is the wrapping. So you will be surprised at the end. I hope that makes sense. So wrap your tote as pretty or as brown bag/target bag as you want. That will be part of the fun I think.
