This summer we're doing the DDP again, but some evenings we'll be at dinner with a couple who aren't on the dining plan. If we're planning on picking up the cost of dinner, can we just pay for the least expensive meals out of pocket and use the dining plan for the more expensive entrees?

Hmmm, that will probably be up to the server. I mean, you can certainly use DDP credits for 2 meals & pay OOP for the other 2, as to whether the server will key in the 2 more expernsive entrees as DDP.... I guess that depends on the server or how well you do w/ making them believe that the 2 people w/ more expensive entrees are on DDP.

The past 4 times we visited the MK we were on the DDP and our IL's came over from Daytona to join us for dinner at least 10 times at various restaurants. You just tell the CM at the beginning who is on the DDP and who is OOP and they will make split checks. Never ever a problem. So maybe the 2 OOP can order the cheeper meals and then switch the plates around when the CM leaves?

Not sure if OP is asking if they can use dining credits for 4 people on the expensive meals and pay OOP for 4 people on the cheaper meals? If that is the case, the answer is no. Your KTTW card will show that there are 2 adults on the dining plan and most places will not let you use more credits at one meal than are on your plan.

Yep you are right you can only use 2 TS at one meal, if the OP was thinking they can use the 4 TS say at Le Cellier (more expensive) then pay for 4 OOP at like a Hollywood and Vine (less expensive) that will not work.
