We just got back from a mini trip to SSR this past week! We stayed in Congress Park for the first time in a 2 bdrm. The weather was perfect, the crowd levels were a bit larger than i thought they would be, but I think that had to do with the marathon and service was amazing!:cool1:

We just got back last night as well. This was our first trip as DVC members. We loved SSR. We stayed in a 2 bedroom in The Grandstand. We found the weather a little cool - but we are from Texas and I'm sure compared to your Ohio weather it was great. We too found the service awesome and we really had a great trip.

We probably passed at some point...we too just got back from SSR last night. Like you, found the weather cooler than I would have liked but in talking with friends it sounds like it was still much nicer in Orlando than in Dallas.
We had a 1-bd in Paddock. This was our first DVC trip and we really enjoyed the extra room and the kitchen. It really gives a different feel to the trip...much more relaxed having space for everything an feeling settled. It was also nice being able to start the day with breakfast in the room. Looking forward to many more DVC trips!!!

What was the weather like, exactly? We will be at SSR in mid-February, and I am wondering what we should pack...of course, it is in the single digits here this week so it will feel GREAT no matter what! Were people using the pools? Around what temp was the air?
THANKS!

Last weekend was beautiful! Upper 70s, low 80s during the day. 50s at night. I wore a light jacket at night. It started to cool down during the week and by Thursday night I was dressed for New Hampshire! The wind was kicking up and it was into the low to mid 40s. Although, compared to the reports I was getting from home, it was down right balmy!
The Florida forecasts are no more reliable this time of year than our New England ones. You have to watch the weather pages right up until you leave. Even that wasn't that much help this week. You could need clothes for three seasons or just one.
As for swimming, I walked to Artist Pallette around 9PM Thursday and people were in the pool. It was probably around 50 at the time. I, personally thought they were insane. But, they sounded like they were having a great time. Getting out of that pool must have felt really invigorating.:confused3

I've requested congress park or grandstand for our April trip. How was bus service, esp. first thing for park opening?

we stayed at congress park and never really waited all that long for a bus. the longest bus we waited for was AK and that was like 5 mins or so.

We only used the buses one day to go the the Magic Kingdom and then to Epcot. No problems at all. There was standing room only by the time the bus made it to the Springs. I'd say the wait was around 10 minutes.
One thing I found interesting this trip was that the bus coordinator at the bus stop was telling someone that she had three backup busses waiting nearby if she needed them. For much of the rest of the week I did notice between one and three busses parked in the back Grandstand parking lot. I don't know if this was a solution for the busy Christmas and Marathon season. But, it will be interesting to see if they continue this practice.

Well we'll be there the week before Easter so hopefully that is also busy enough to merit extra busses. Thanks!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I might have been one of those insane people in the pool!! Actually I think I used the pool either Tuesday or Wednesday night when it was a bit warmer in the week!! I was mostly in the hot tub at that time but there was an older gentleman--70's maybe and he was in the pool and going down the slide so I told my niece we HAD to do it!! :lmao:
Had a great time...1br at Paddock...first time at SSR...next time would like something a little closer to main building/AP....Practically od'd on Cheeseburger Flatbread...had 4x and now going through withdrawals!! Great food choices at AP..buses were fine, loved the weather (it was 9 below back here  ) and I thought the crowds were great (I usually go in August so anything is an improvement!) Ate at T-Rex, Crystal Palace, Sci-fi, Tusker House and a few other CS....no ADR anywhere (I know I am crazy!!:rotfl: ) but I guess I was just lucky. :scratchin
So happy that I finally got to see Devine----two times in one day!! And I also had my picture taken with the evil stepsisters!! :)

We have been here for a week now....leaving today. This was our first trip home, and we stayed in a studio in the Grandstand.
We totally loved it here!!!!! I rode the buses every day and waited no more than 10 minutes for any bus. There were always several buses waiting in the Grandstand parking lot, and the bus scheduler did a great job communicating to the other stops.
The Grandstand section seemed remote to me, until I actually walked the route to the Carriage House. Now I think I will request this section as it was quiet and the first stop on the bus route, so there was always a seat.
We are very happy with Saratoga Springs as our home resort.

We were in a Studio, and found the fridge to be quite a nice size. It was about double the size of a standard mini hotel fridge. We had a bottle of wine, 12 cans of soda, a pint of milk, some jello cups, water bottles and insulin in the fridge with room to spare.
There was also room on the counter for lots of things. There is also a shelf and small cupboard above the sink to store things in.
