Tuesday, June 23rd

We awoke early to hear/see downpours. Tons of rain... glad we were not headed anywhere early. My parents had decided to go to EPCOT, the rain had ended as the got there, and the got some great rides on Soarin', Test Track, and just enjoyed exploring WS (saw The Voices of Liberty again- three times this trip--- they would adore an EPCOT area resort for just going over to hang out there).

We got up and I dropped the big question- do you want to go and take the DVC tour? DH was game for it, I explained the girls could go to their kid center and I called the extension on the phone. I had watched way too much DVC tv friends--- I was ready to see it all. Remember though I could have done all this at BLT earlier in the week. We called and were connected to the DVC guide in the lobby of CSR. He got us set up for a 10:15 tour, and said to head to the lobby and the van would take us over. They provided carseats for the kids if anyone wonders.

We got over there, checked in the girls, who were excited to have the space to play with toys and probably have a break from us too:lmao:

We had to keep Luke... he was pretty happy just being held, we did take a stroller though for him. They have drinks, small snacks etc as you wait.

Disclaimer--- they were extremely busy this am, probably due to the early morning rain... and so we waited a bit for a guide. And then they actually sent us on the tour of the two samples with a DVC intern. There was another couple and a couple with three older teenage kids, so we were a party of 10 on this tour. This is not normal, remember this. I cannot remember her name, sorry! We saw AKL and BLT, they are right beside each other at SSR... weird huh. They were fantastic, DH loves the modern touches of BLT, and I loved those rooms too. What really stood out was the size, wow. We then saw a grand villa at SSR. I did not explore upstairs.. I stayed with Luke. Plus it will never happen I would have that amount of points!

We then went back a waited a bit more... again I don't think this is normal. Then they took the 10 of us over to another SSR building, and we went in a big conference room. We were getting the presentation, compact, all together. This was not that impressive to me, and I think looking back I would have been hesitant to do this. However to be honest it did not make or break it for us. We got some numbers, some paper and then Luke had to eat, and well filled his pants, so I had to go and change him--- again another walk to a restroom. The couple with teens stuck around, they were really serious, had lots of questions and wanted to talk one on one. At this point we really were running out of time. Luke would need a nap, the girls had been playing long enough and we wanted to go and swim. Roland, our guide answered a few quick questions and we were off to get our girls, have a quick cone and go back to CSR. The other couple rode back with us to CSR, they had two kids with our girls, and were hoping to do DVC down the road perhaps. We did get FPs for five of us that could be used three times that would give FPs with immediate entry times (however FPs still had to be available... this comes up later)

I don't at all regret the time, I do wish we had met one on one, it would have been nice to talk over our personal information and questions. DH learned a lot, me not so much since I DIS. I also wanted to ask other people about their experiences.... and did this later! We left with the current deals in place through the end of the trip, and told Roland we would be in contact with him later. We wanted to talk and think and think and think......

I did not take my camera, it was enough keeping Luke happy! Soon we were back at CSR, it was closer to one at this point. So I took the girls to the pool, got some lunch there, yes they accept DDP credits, and we ate poolside--- the food stayed hot because it was so hot!

My parents joined us not too much later at the pool... and we swam for about forty five minutes, and then we were off to DHS!

The tour sounds very interesting. How fun to see different DVC resort room mock ups all in one place!

Sounds like an interesting tour. I would love to see the rooms at BLT. That might be one way to get DH interested...however, its a LONG, LONG way in the future for us! Can't wait to see it!

I think the tour sounds fun, though I don't know that DVC is in our future. I'd love to look at the rooms, though. We stayed at OKW with my parents pre-kids (and thought about doing it for our trip in June, but it's not going to work) and the space was wonderful!! I'd love to have the extra room with five people, though, definitely!

My older DS had the same issue Em had on our 2007 trip - he kept falling asleep at dinner! We have a great pic of Donald trying to wake him up at Chef Mickey's (what an expression on his face when he woke up to Donald two inches from his nose!!) and he even slept through most of the entertainment at 'Ohanas! They just go until they can't anymore, I guess!

Great Epcot day - lots of fun. We will have to try the Donald boat ride in Mexico next summer. I think the kids will like it. We ran out of time last fall. Can't wait to hear about the tour! :cool1:

Em has one more dinner to sleep through. That is her sleep time, she has slept a bunch this summer around 4ish.

Donald is fun, not the thrilling ride, but fun. Plus I have never seen a real line.

Seriously...it THUNDERSTORMED from early this morning until dinner time tonight!!!!! CONSTANT THUNDERSTORMS!!!!! It was an INSANE day!!!! Is there more tomorrow???

I want some sun... I did get a ton done at school though.

It was fun, I would love to know their percentage that actually buy after touring. I think it was good for DH to hear the information straight from the source, we did do a bunch of reading, talked to friends, etc before committing. I wish we had toured before our DHS day... we could have rode TSM a ton that way!

Sounds like an interesting tour. I would love to see the rooms at BLT. That might be one way to get DH interested...however, its a LONG, LONG way in the future for us! Can't wait to see it!

DH wanted to buy at BLT... in fact he is still "mad" about it.

We like down time, resorts and I know eventually I will be thrilled we did it. I think I need to have a DVC vacation though... next year is a long way away!

I wish we had been more outspoken about wanting one on one. I am sure they would have accomodated us. It was hard with Luke and others, we could have just done it quicker if it was the three of us. If you do the tour, go early in your trip to best use your FPs... the tour and decisions loomed over my head the next two days....

We never did the DVC tour - we bought sight unseen last year, no regrets! (except I didn't get any FP"S...). Two of our neighbors are DVC, we talked to them a bunch, did a ton of online research (this is how I discovered the Dis!), spoke to our guide on the phone, watched the DVD at least 3 times, read the Dream book...etc etc. Anyhow - Welcome Home!!! We love it so far, only regret is not doing it sooner.

Trying to get caught up with all I missed while we were gone. I love seeing the great pictures of your smiling kids! All the matching dresses are cute!

Ariel is a favorite of Brooklynn, and we happened to be first in line to see her this trip. It was about ten till 9, and no one was in line yet, so we started a line.

We've done two Crystal Palace dinners, but not a breakfast yet. We will, though!

Glad to hear Hannah has a new love for an old Disney classic. :)

Back to the room for swimming and naps was pretty much a daily occurrence on this trip for the girls. You lose a lot of park time, but the relaxing is good for everyone. You just have to change you touring style with little ones or it'll be miserable for the whole group. Relaxing wasn't hard to do, either, when we were at the Wilderness Lodge! ;)

That does seem weird about the big tour, but live and learn. That is nice that the girls were able to play, too bad they couldn't take Luke. Was it the diaper thing?

I still have not touched the DVD. I saw it tonight. Maybe some night coming up I will pop it in for a Disney fix!

I regret not going on a vacation with points sooner... a quick trip this fall or winter would have been nice!

MeMom we missed you! It is so different touring with little ones. Luke was a trooper but he is still a baby!

CP was awfully yummy for breakfast but we thought it was the best buffet for dinner we have done, so I am not sure which I loved more!

I think the diaper thing and the watching him factor. He would never have gone for it, but I fed him lunch during the presentation because we ran late, had a rotten diaper... you name it, it happened!

I cannot say enough that CSR was beautiful. Great theming, beautiful pool area!

So we were headed back to HS for dinner at Mama Melrose. At this point we had decided a no to seeing Fantasmic, even with the dinner package. Crowded bus, three kids, strollers... it was all too much. Plus DH and I had plans for once we got back that night! Once again we had a sleeping kid- Emily. We had decided to not use our stroller rental for just a few hours, so we brought the two single strollers for the night, and Hannah walked. We walked by TSM.... over a two hour wait, no thanks and no FPS (on Sunday there were passes still available at this time). Therefore we could not use our FPs from the DVC tour--- so we would save them for MK the next day. We found it way way way more crowded today, probably due to Fantasmic that night!

A photo tour with Hannah....

We hoped to catch this ....

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0662.jpg
Broadway Bound.....

We made it back to Mama Melrose and were seated right away for our 4:15 ADR. We made it there just before it poured... it really let loose! Emily was tucked in a corner, sleeping in the stroller. Thank you Disney for letting us do this!

I must admit, this was not our best meal. It might have been since we had eaten a lot already that week, had a late lunch that day, and it took forever.

I ordered Charred Sirloin Steak- it was good. Since we had the Fantasmic dining package we all got appetizers too, I think everyone got a salad. By the time we ordered desserts my parents wanted the kid sundae. No big dessert, we were all stuffed. I got the warm truffle cake, it was yummy but I was not hungry either. At 5:30 DH and Hannah left, they wanted to catch the last Beauty and the Beast show at 5:45, so DH dessert was in a to go box.... we still were waiting. It was almost a two hour meal, and not that exciting. Along the way Em woke up and ate, and Luke fell asleep.

We paid and left, and it was still raining, somewhat hard. We made our way across to the muppet store and hung out there for a while. Finally it let up a bit, and we headed towards the Chinese Theatre to met DH and Hannah. We then split up again- we were going to take the girls to see the American Idol finale and my parents and Luke were going to Muppets. The finale was at 7, and yes we lined up early, almost 40 minutes and it was closed out crowded. Every seat full! I left my camera with my mom... sorry!

The waiting is passed by some live info on the singers, some taped footage, but all in all entertaining. The judges were funny, and the singers I thought were great. That night the ceo Bob Ieger was celebrating something (years at Disney/birthday) and he had the row behind us reserved, we were towards the top. It was funny to see this big group of dressed up people file in at the end to the reserved row.

It was fun, I admit I like the show and enjoyed this live version. I was very skeptical... but I am glad we went. I would love to know someone who auditioned and hear all about it!

After that, we called it a day. My parents were waiting for us outside, so we headed to the buses. It was sprinkling again boo! It really never stopped that night, so I wonder if they had Fantasmic?

Once we got back we got pjs on and tried to settle the kids for the night. DH and I wanted to borrow my parents car for a drive- we were headed to AKL/AKV to explore.

It was almost nine till we got away and we went to AKV first- boy are those roads dark, I guess for the animals. We talked to the CM at security.... and pulled into the parking garage underneath. We headed up the elevators, it was different. We made our way to the lobby, which is not impressive compared to stop two, but I am sure the daytime hours make a huge difference. We got lucky and the DVC rep took us to the model room there! WOW!!!! It was so awesome, even at night. We could see the animals on the savannah... sleeping. It was so peaceful, I felt millions of miles away from the parks and the bustle! The space was amazing too! We enjoyed it, and it was so much more real than the mock rooms (they look the same, but it was just real here).

Then we thanked the guide tons, checked out the store, the community hall, the restaurant, and finally what sealed the deal--- the pool area. It was so great, beautiful theme and just looked like tons of fun for our kids. We cannot wait to go back!

We got in our car and then made stop two- AKL. We had never been there, and since that is part DVC, we wanted to see what it looked like. I loved how the restaurants were tucked away, I saw Jackie's rocking chairs, loved the zero entry pool, visited Mara (should have used a snack credit for zebra domes- darn it), and just took it in. I cannot wait to take the girls back there and Luke. I am sure it is more impressive during the day.

I felt guilty not snapping some pictures, but it was dark and I am not sure what I would have gotten, next time for sure!

Back to the resort DH dropped me off, he headed to the main building to do some work- yikes and some DVC research!

I dreamt DVC dreams... and MK dreams- our last park day was tomorrow, highlighted with a lunch at the castle!

How awesome you got to see the AI finale show! We've been there twice but never for the evening showing! I'm sure when they start the show back up on TV they will talk about the Disney winners! Isn't the talent amazing?
So cool you and dh went over the Kidani and the Jambo to look around. We can't wait to see Kidani up close and personal in December! I would love for it to be warm enough to use the pool.
Another great update! Can't believe you are almost done with your trip, I still have 5 days to get through on my report.

We had similar "issues" with Henry during our DVC tour - ours took over 3 hours because we had so many questions and made the guide repeat himself on some topics so we REALLY got it. Dirty diapers, antsy, nap, snacks, juice, the whole thing! Made it a bit more difficult, but it was worth it! :thumbsup2

I am THRILLED to hear of your description of Kidani! I am really looking forward to seeing that pool area. I think Henry is going to have a ball. I bet your girls are gonna just love it with all the splash areas like the fountains! And very soon Luke will be joining in! :goodvibes

How exciting that you were able to get DVC! I would think that if you're a DVC owner, it makes going back to Disney that much easier. Hopefully, someday, we'll be able to buy into it.

I think the limited Fantasmic shows are making a huge impact on crowds at DHS. We went on a Saturday and didn't have to wait for anything, except for TSM. I've read other TRs about visits on F! days and the park is crowded for the whole day. It really is a shame that Disney's limiting F! showings so much.

Cute, cute pictures of Hannah. She does look so grown up!

The pictures of Hannah were great. Sorry you weren't impressed by Mama Melrose's - it was the first dinner we had on our 2007 trip, and it was wonderful (made more so by the wonderful servers we had). I think I'm in the minority about this particular restaurant, though...

AKL sounds SOOOO nice! We'll have a car in June since we're driving, so maybe DH and I (or my mom, aunt, mother-in-law and sister-in-law and I) can do some resort hopping....:goodvibes

I think what was hard was it too longer. I asked how long the tour and stuff took and figured we could be done in less than three hours round trip, but that was not the case! The girls did not mind, but I knew we had an early ADR at HS to get to, and I wanted to go swimming, so much for an off morning!

I would recommend the last show, it was reallly fun. Although I would like to go earlier and see what it is like. I am wondering how much it will be talked up during IDOL in January--- we will see. I am sure Disney is hoping that someone makes it from their show to the top 16 or so.

I am so glad we went over to AKL and AKV. It sealed the deal, I just could not get it out of my head that we would do it... but I still did not think it would be this summer!

I hope the weather allows you to swim too, do you have a savannah view or what in Dec there?

I am getting this done before it gets crazy. I have a ton of stuff to do in the next two weeks, so finishing this would be one less thing on my plate.

We had similar "issues" with Henry during our DVC tour - ours took over 3 hours because we had so many questions and made the guide repeat himself on some topics so we REALLY got it. See I don't think I "got it"... the group setting and Luke did me in.

Kidani was so nice, so calm, so peaceful. Granted it was nightime, and it was not finished. I cannot wait to sit and watch animals with the kids! The pool area is perfect for Henry....

Hannah looked so grown up in her pictures!!

I felt rushed to get back to the natives, but I wish we would have looked around AKL longer and say had a Zebra Dome!

AI was super fun, I am glad we tried something new. I did not get to sit in your chairs... next trip. DH does not understand that I would really like to stay at AKL, he does not get our home is both!

It was not bad food, mine was really good. I think we were stuffed and had ate too much food from restaurants IMO. It seemed to take forever.... and the kids were just done sitting at meals, we had ate at LeCellier the night before, and that was another big people meal to them.

I had always wanted to tour AKL. I am so happy I finally checked it out.

I think when you have a baby you notice their changes, but for me I am really amazed at how she has changed of late. She is a little girl, ready for school, and for the most part really good to be around. Her whiny stage is much less, she was great at Disney. Em is a stinker, but not a whiner, which is funny. They are very different, but then again they are alike in some ways too.

I was scrapbooking the castle last night... it was fun. Not as fun as the first meal there, just because they had been there. I think that is what I love, trying new meals to awe the crowd.

The Zac shirt is not my favorite. I like her red HSM much better, as does she. My mother in law got her that when I sent her to the Disney store for me to find at HSM shirt, she got both but Hannah is not into him, rather she likes the girls, like Sharpay, which Emily does not like because she is not nice!

I would just get there early at RD and maximize FPs. It can't be as busy in Sept, but it will be crazier than a non Fantasmic day.

Laura, you're really adding to my anticipation of Le Cellier with that dinner description!! (We've never been!)

Ah, a free day coming up!! :cloud9: I got smart and started adding those to our itinerary and they are really therapeutic, let me tell you!!

Can't wait to read about yours!

LeCellier did not disappoint. It was yummy, despite having ate a ton of food that morning!

Free days or down time is essential. We need a day or so off after two park days for sure... we learned.

The first DVC trip cannot come soon enough...

I always love to see Hannah's little poses. Brooklynn's stand-by is the 'hand on the hip' pose.

It's nice that Jackie lets people borrow her AKL chairs when she's not using them. Sorta like I let people borrow my Soarin' ride when I'm not around. Aren't we just the nicest sharer-girls?!?!? ;)

Don't get too fast at wrapping up this report. We will miss all of these pictures of your kids and the fun they had. You either have to pull out some more or hurry up and take another trip - your choice!

Our last park day , is there a better place to spend it than MK? We got up early and left for MK about 7:50. I am so glad we got there early, it was not as hot and we did not have to wait in as many lines this way. Today I promised the girls we would watch the opening show… bittersweet that vacation was almost over!

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0666.jpg

We then grabbed our double stroller and headed towards Dumbo. DH went to get FPs for Splash and BTMR… I know Dumbo again, someday I am sure we won’t even ride Dumbo, so we do what the girls want. This was Emily’s request, and when you are just short of 40 inches you get to ride your requests.

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0667.jpg

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0671.jpg
The girls went with Grandma…
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0673.jpg
Hannah did Snow White, while Em and Luke did the carousel with Grandma and me!

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0676.jpg

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0679.jpg

Then we rode Winnie the Pooh before getting in line for the Teacups! Along the way we got our FPs for Peter Pan!

I just loved this sign….
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0719.jpg

We headed next to Adventureland to the Magic Carpets! It was pretty empty over there, our wait was nothing!
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0690.jpg

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0692.jpg

We rode Pirates of the Carribean again, again a hit with Luke. Once we got off that we saw Peter Pan-
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0698.jpg

Then Miss Emily got brave, super brave. She wanted to see Captain Hook….
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0703.jpg

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0705.jpg

And Hannah, my dad and I headed for Splash Mountain and BTMR. They were going to met us after another swing on the Magic Carpets.

Somehow then we ended up needing a treat, it was hot so what better to have than a Dole Whip and a trip to show dad the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0707.jpg

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0709.jpg

After the Dole whips, which everyone loved we saw another friend…
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0711.jpg
And we split up. I had a little girl who had not seen Daisy yet- Emily. I had asked a handler earlier and they said she was out on Main Street. So I took the girls to see what we could find and everyone else did the Carousel of Progress.

Mind you this was the longest line I waited on all trip… grr! But Emily loves Daisy, we missed her last trip and she would be so mad when she saw that Hannah had met her at EPCOT that first morning. So we wrapped around the island in the middle of Main Street, watching flocks of people entering the parks!

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0714.jpg

Someday I want to just sit on a bench and watch the action on Main Street. I figure I miss so much getting there early and never have time there!

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0718.jpg

I plan to get the update done today, I got distracted yesterday with a trip to school... which turned into a night of school work. Life is just getting in the way of DIS, which is why I have to get this done, it would be one less thing to do on the ever growing to do list! I did not plan for Luke to have a double ear infection, hence my DISing at 3:40.

Did everyone see that park hours are coming back out at 180 days along with dining reservations starting October 27th- now that is exciting news!

Yay for Disney on Ice! We're going to see Celebrations in October, so if we don't get to go to Disney World as we are hoping, then at least we have that to look forward to.

Definitely looking forward to The Princess and the Frog here, as well. No Mary Poppins for us, but that would be awesome and will be for you!

I hope Luke feels better very soon for his sake and yours. You are way lucky that this is your first time with ear infections. Mine all had them - Drew the worst (constantly) until he had adenoids removed, bone cut out of his nose that was obstructing breathing, and tubes in ears. After that, he did so much better. I hope Luke's meds work very quickly so he can get comfort and rest and so that Mommy can, too!

The only good thing about the 90 days was I was more firm about where I wanted to eat and go, at 180 it is more of a guess. Although the 180 benefits the switchers and planners a bit more, both things I like to do.

Poor Luke. I hope he feels better fast!

We arrived at the Castle a bit early, we had princesses to dress. The girls wanted to put on their princess gowns, and we did it. We had an Ariel and Cinderella, two new princesses for us (Hannah has always worn Snow White). We changed in the restroom in the lobby of the restaurant again- a great location, and cool!

We had our picture with Cinderella. Since we were a party of seven we got two "free" photos....

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/Image408.jpg

Can you see the mice in the picture below... something I did not notice last year!

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0720.jpg

Headed up the stairs. My dad had never ate at the castle, my mom had but over twenty years ago.... this was fun for them to see!

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0722.jpg

We were far from the windows, in the upper bowl of the restaurant, but that was okay. We had lots of room, and Luke had room to see around. I was thrilled we had a table big enough, they do not guarantee that for big parties here!
We ordered, Salmon for my mom and I, DH got the pork, my dad the sandwich. We enjoyed the platter before hand, and appreciated the pasta (buttered noodles) they brought for Luke!

They began announcing the princesses, and we saw them pretty quickly! First out....

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0724.jpg

I really felt that the princesses were not in a hurry this time again. They were super sweet!

Then...

http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z305/iluvxu/IMG_0726.jpg

Remember I was disappointed with Snow White at EPCOT, she seemed hurried and did not give the girls the attention the others did that day. This one was fantastic!

We enjoyed the nice air conditioning and headed back out to do a few last rides: Splash Mountain, Peter Pan, It's A Small World, Big Thunder... and we left, saying goodbye to MK. We had decided not to risk or battle the night buses at MK again. My dad was soured to say the least on attempting a night bus again with the kids, and so we decided to swim, start the terrible task of packing and have dinner at CSR. Looking back I am sad we only had one MK night, but I know there will be more! At the time I remember not really being that bothered, I was tired and still wrestling with DVC decisions. We knew we could sign and seal the deal that next morning before flying out, we just had to decide that night-:scared1:

On the way out I had my CRT pics added to our photopass (it took forever!... don't do this in MK if you can avoid it)

and my tired princesses....

We headed back via bus to CSR, swam, packed and decided no DVC- ha ha! I just did not want to make a rash decision and figure out everything and spend our last morning signing papers. We had dinner at the Pepper Market late. This is where I saw why some people are not fans... I waited forever, literally for my dinner. I decided on the hot wing special at the grille. By the time I got my food my kids, parents and husband were done eating- I have no idea why it took forever!

We packed a lot, watched our last night of Disney tv and slept our last disney dreams....and I was somewhat ready to come home. It was a lot to travel with an infant AND two other kids, and seven park days in a row like we did is exhausting!

Oh you have some great pictures of the kids with the princesses! I loved Luke's kiss from Snow White, I remember Em's from last year, do you have one of Hannah?

The picture of both girls with Ariel was fantastic!
I don't blame you a bit for not wanting to spend your last morning signing paperwork. Just packing is enough, especially when you have three children!

Another wonderful update, Laura! My favorite pictures from this one are Em holding Tinker Bell, Hannah wishing on her star, and Luke's kiss from Snow White! All are just precious!

Hannah has no princess kiss, poor thing. She has only been to WDW 6 times before she turns 6.
I just could not part with all that money.... I still am not thrilled at that thought, but I am sure when we do a trip I will be thrilled about our decision.

We had to pack almost everything to go home with my parents who left before we got moving... so that was a lot of packing Wednesday night.

Akershus is great. I love that they now include the picture with your meal. I am ready to go there again next trip, we did it twice in a row, and wanted to try something else.

Luke is acting fine. He is up right now, no idea why. I am trying to ignore the fussy baby.

Oh the DVC drama. We said no and I was said, but cheap. Literally once we arrived home the sales guy called us and said we could have a few more days to keep the deal. I talked to a friend who bought three years ago at SSR and just the price was so much better. I worried that we would see a much bigger $$$ in a few years. Plus I for sure wanted AKL or BLT since their one bedroom fits us. We just decided to go ahead and start enjoying it, rather than waiting till it would cost us more.

I just adored your photopass pictures your girls are just adorable!!!! I'm so glad you had a great meal at CRT and that your girls were able to meet up with Ariel...that is wonderful!!

i love having the hours so far out too. my complaint is, for example, i have a client who is going this year from 11/29 to 12/5. her day to make ADRs is 8/31. the hours for december probably won't be out by then, so we sort of have to guess about the park hours for the last 5 days of their vacation. i just wish they'd release the park hours and then maybe let you make ADRs a little later. maybe release park hours at 180 days and make ADRs at 150 days. but i know that'll probably never happen!

June 25- Departure

When I woke up my parents were gone, they had left a few things in their room for us, but it was way empty compared to everything we had taken to WDW. First and foremost, we had taken way way way too many snacks. With the dining plan and the heat, we just did not eat that much. Plus my mom is an overpacker, and in turn I overpacked. I promise I won't do that again.

We had decided to go and use our last CS credits, we had a few for a hot breakfast. DH went and got some goodies, I had a breakfast sandwich that was way yummo!

We packed up stuff and took the kids to the pool for one last dip. We were scheduled to fly out at 1:50, ME at 10:50. We were at the pool a bit after nine, and the kids stayed for the opening of the slide, what a fun ceremony.... I headed back for a quick shower and to get Luke dressed. We literally had two strollers, and three bags to take home with us, the rest we sent with grandma.

We were slow to get to the main building, and used our last three snack credits to buy some of the cookies and filled our mugs before the "Unmagical Express" arrived. Well I guess we poked around too long, and as DH checked us in a ME bus arrived and departed. DH even asked if we were on that bus, but the CM said no. Well after about ten minutes or so he checked again... and yes we had been scheduled to get on that bus...... they grumbled a bit, but oh well. We knew we had time. Onwards to the airport, we grabbed some food quick and went through security. I again had liquids, no problem with the kids I guess. Then we got on the wrong monorail, I was just following DH... and had to go back. At this point we were cutting it close... and literally boarded the plane as soon as we got to the gate. The Delta crewmember then grumbled at me, I should have gotten tags for the strollers earlier.... I thought to myself we just got here! Honestly by this point I was wishing we had drove. We had been sitting, waiting, hurrying... nothing was going great. The flight was two good girls, and a fussy Luke. I was beat by the time we landed, he had been unhappy and there was little I could do.

Fortunately we arrived safely, got in our van and headed up to our house. We were in our house less than five minutes when our DVC guide called and told us to take a few more days if we were still interested. That is what we needed, we talked to our friends, did more research, asked some questions via Dis (thanks Anita and Jackie) and took the plunge.

I apologize for the lack of pics. I was worn out by this point. It was hot, we were tired and ready for to be home. While we had a great trip, taking three kids under six was hard, especially seven park days in a row. We are so lucky my parents came with us, and we did have some magical moments we will never forget!

We are headed to a family party out of town this weekend, and I have some school stuff to finish before Friday's workday. Thursday is birthday #6 for Hannah and Luke is one week later, so we have birthday things to get done too. My scrapbooking is almost done, I have just Emily to finish the WDW pages for, but there are a ton of pictures I want to include (she was just too cute). Hannah has her pizza party with her classmates, her meet the teacher morning visit, and our parent curriculum night this week before she starts school on the 24th.

I will have one last final thoughts update, and our plans for our next trip soon....

Isn't it always a bit "unmagical" heading home? I'm sorry your trip back was a bit more trouble than usual. Poor Luke (and you) it's tough with a baby on a plane if they aren't in the mood for it. All you can do is the best you can do!

I think it was pure genius to have your parents along, they seemed to be so much help. Managing a young crew like you have does take some extra hands. You guys really did have a great trip!:goodvibes

Some after trip thoughts...

What a wonderful trip we had! Over the past three years we have done three very different trips- The WL trip where it was a "first trip" for the girls (Hannah had been before but no memories), our surprise trip at POFQ at over 30 weeks pregnant, and this trip, with three kids, including the infant after saying I would never take a baby! I feel beyond blessed that we have visited our favorite place this many times, and look forward to enjoying our DVC membership to continue to go back and create new memories.

Dining Plan- I am more sold on this plan at this point, especially when traveling with my parents. It forced my dad to allow for some sit down meals... and he really enjoyed them. It was great to not have to pay for the food once we were there, and the fact that the Tip was split over both bills worked well. I still cannot figure out how we end up with so many snack credits, I really was not hungry and went without nor did we eat a lot of the food that we brought. I forsee us doing the dining plan and still eating in our room for breakfast.

Toy Story Mania- I am so thrilled we did this ride. The hype does not do it justice, what a fun ride. I wish we could have rode it more than twice, but I don't forsee the lines and demand lessening!

Flying-I am glad we did, but I really think that we spent forever trying to get home... it was exhausting! I am also pretty sure that tickets for five will be costly, and we will probably drive eventually more often.

CSR- I enjoyed the resort. It was calm and peaceful, and we had great food there. Pepper Market is interesting, good food but takes a bit of time. The pool area is fantastic, the new rehabbed rooms were top notch and the buses were overall wonderful. It is not very Disney like theming wise to me, and it was so weird seeing the convention people in the main building. The size could certainly be an issue to people, and no matter what building you are in there is no perfect location. I still admit I much prefer POR/POFQ and would recommend them first.

Emily- This was the trip of Emily moments. She was IMO perfect to experience all the Disney magic. This was the trip I really felt it made lasting memories and impressions to her. My only sad moment was she was not quite 40 inches--- next time.

Luke- his first trip was a success. He was a trooper, and was really good despite the heat and his age. His reaction to It's a Small World and Pirates of the Carribean I will always remember and treasure. I know experiencing it with a boy will be so fun!

Hannah- I treasure that she still loved the princesses, but I see that we are moving towards HSM and other things. Expedition Everest was a treat to ride with her, and I love how she said, it was hot, but I did not care mom, we were at Disney--- gotta love that attitude.

My parents- such fantastic help. My dad got to experience his favorites, and they had such fun watching the girls experiences. I feel so blessed that we had that special trip, you cannot take for granted time with your parents and the memories you make with them and your children.

Things I learned....

Next time we go with my parents I think we need to be clear it is okay for us to go our separate ways. I am a bit sad that I only had one MK night. While the nighttime crowds gave my dad:scared1: I love that nighttime atmosphere. I think it will be easier to do as the kids grow and have different desires too.

We can't go to parks everyday. Or at least until I have much older kids. While we can stay at the parks longer days, we need a day off after a park day or two. We enjoy the resorts, swimming and DTD too much to go the parks everyday. Our two lazy days at the beginning were super nice, I just would loved to have had them split in the middle of our park touring.

I could be a huge Contemporary fan. I would never have thought this before staying there, but I loved it. The monorail cannot be beat. The CM were top notch, the food options were fantastic too. The room size spoiled us, and probably made us more aware that we won't fit in the moderate rooms-- and now with DVC that worry is lessened!

Favorite Meal-

I really am not sure. Cinderella's Castle was again a huge hit. LeCellier did not disappoint. Our last minute meal at Italy was nice surprise, O'Hana's was great food, great atmosphere and probably our choice over dinner now. Chef Mickey's is always a fun night too, and we do well with Buffet choices for the kids... so I am not sure. Crystal Palace was a great way to start a day, with an empty MK and such wonderful food--- too many choices.
We are lucky that we had no bad dinners!

I had a top ten last year... I will have to ponder a bit and ask everyone....

Thanks for a GREAT TR! I just got caught up - our work days started on the 10th, and the kids came the 12th (:scared1:), so I'm not quite DIS-ing like I was. But I really did enjoy your report. Hope the beginning of the school year is good to you, and that we get to hear about another trip soon!

Back to school really cuts DIS time, doesn't it.

:yay:OH NO!!! Say it isn't so??!! The TR is over?!! :guilty: After being away the past two weeks I have finally caught up on several TRs and I must say the past pages I have read over on yours have been so much fun to read!!!! I especially enjoyed hearing that your final MK day experiences were great!!! Isn't is fun when the park is really slow??!! looks like you had luck at MK too! The photo of you on the Astro Orbiter was just adorable! CP pics were too cute too! And of course Le Cellier -- how can you go wrong there??!! -- and lets see, what else, Oh! The gotta ride Dumbo for the just under 40 request, OH that was funny, and also the DVC play-by-play, very nice! So glad you got to explore the AKL area on your own! AND of course that you ate at the Castle!!! Your girls were toooo cute but if photos could talk, that one of Luke and the kiss mark, OMGoodness TOOOO precious!! Save that one for his HS yearbook baby photo!!!!

Hope all the birthdays go well, the invites were very cute, and that school gets off okay for you. Looking forward to your final reflections on your trip and the big reveal for your next one!!!! Yay for DVC!!!

Thanks again for such a fun PTR and TR!!!! :thumbsup2

Glad you are back, can't wait to read all about your latest adventure. Your winter report will get me through our long lull too!

Such a great trip.....I can't wait to hear when you are heading down next!

Your trip is getting so close!

I'm going to miss seeing your kids every few days! :sad1:
I don't think I'm liking this end of trip report thing.

Do we get to see start of school pictures of Hannah?

I just had to get this done. I am almost done scrapbooking, and I have to wrap birthday presents tonight- for tomorrow. I think next week will be tough, back to school with kids, first day of kindergarten, and my baby turning one. I am not sure I can make it through all that!

Great recap, Laura! I absolutely loved your TR and am sad to see it end. I completely agree with you on the Dining Plan and on resort days off between park days. I'm motivated to ask my gang what their top 10 are now!

I hope to get the top ten done tomorrow or Friday.

What a wonderful recap! I've loved reading about your trip. I have a hankering to stay at the Contemporary now. I just can't imagine being able to walk to MK! How fun. :goodvibes

I would jump for a Contemporary stay!

I loved this part of your last thoughts! This is part of why we love Disney so much, isn't it? :goodvibes

I am going to miss your TR -- you are going to start a PTR for next summer ASAP, right?

Hi Laura!

We're back from the beach I'm and trying to catch up with my favorite reports... I feel your happy exhaustion when you wrote about your last day! :sad1: No matter how much work is involved, it's still so hard to leave!

What a fabulous trip! Yes, there was a bump or two in the road... that's always impossible to avoid, but overall it seemed completely magical for all!

The girls looked so pretty in their Disney dresses and Luke was every inch a little prince! So many amazing pictures... I'm sure you'll have a tough time choosing your favorites.

Thanks for sharing your story... I'm looking forward to the recap! :goodvibes

The favorites pics is a hard one. I think that is why they have so many pages in the scrapbook this year. The collage in our family room has most my favorites, so that is my happy place to look at it.

We had a great trip. I doubt we will ever have a harder one in terms of a baby and the unbelievable heat!

We have had one birthday, one first day meet the teacher (and yes I cried), one full workday (kicks your butt) and now I am getting ready for the big party Sunday. The top 10 is done, but I have school and party stuff that must get finished first.

A touch of Disney. We were on our way to a family pool party reunion and just happened to do a stop at the Disney store about 40 minutes from our house. While I really wanted the Halloween Bag--- still trying to figure out why I need it, we did get some Disney goodies- all three kids got new Disney swimsuits for next summer and I got another one of the Disney Shopping bags. I figure it can be an extra bag for school and a shopping trip bag.

Cute suits!! I do love the Disney store...it's the one store I MUST go in every time we get to the mall. We're lucky to have one so close, I know. DH and I are always scouting out bargains for the next trip. I have that Mickey bag as well - it worked well as a tutoring bag/lake bag this summer. ;) It's a multi-purpose thing. Do you think you could get the Halloween bag online? Sometimes you can find free shipping on different websites if you google "free shipping (name of store). It works with Kohl's, though I've never tried it with Disney. It'd be worth a try to save you the trip, though.

Good luck this week!! :flower3: Hope the party went well!

The party was great. The Top Ten from our 2009 Trip

Again in no particular order!

1) Empty Main Street and Breakfast at Crystal Palace

It was so nice to see Main Street pretty empty that morning, get our castle pictures before we were all sweaty and to have a yummy breakfast to top it off. I think the Crystal Palace is the most beautiful restaurant and really loved watching the masses scramble at Rope Drop while we relaxed and finished our breakfast.

2) Luke's kiss from Snow White

That was just too sweet. She was a fantastic Snow White, tons better than the one at EPCOT. He just loves the ladies, and the ladies love him.

3) Expedition Everest with Hannah. I still am in shock at how much she loved this ride. I wish we could have ridden it more! What a big girl she has become, and I hope we can get her on Space Mountain and ToT next trip.

4) Joining DVC

I never thought we would do it this summer (hoped to eventually) but we are excited to see what adventures lie ahead for us as Disney Vacation Club Members.

5) The Contemporary

We all fell in love with this resort and its location, room size and activities. The pool area was nice, and it should be even better soon. Jumping on the monorail was a treat and I hope we stay at BLT someday.

6) Luke's first ears

It was fun to make and even more fun to see him in them. I hope he loves Disney the way the girls do!

7) Emily's greeting of Ariel at CRT

Emily loves Ariel at Disney and her oh my oh my oh my reaction to seeing her in the blue dress headed to our table was pure sweet! And Ariel hearing her and saying it back to her was magic.

8) My parents seeing the girl's react first hand to WDW

I can still see the look on my parents faces as they watched the girls go crazy about the princesses at EPCOT on that first day. I am so fortunate they got to share this special trip with us and hope that they are here for lots more Disney trips.

9) New Attractions we experienced

Toy Story Mania, Finding Nemo the Musical, Jammin' Jungle Parade, American Idol all added so much to our trip! We love how each trip there are new things to do, and those three exceeded our expectations! Toy Story Mania actually is probably a top five ride of mine now... and I need to try that new game out --- hope my neighbors get it!

10) Breakfast at O' Hana's

It was such a great meal, it did not disappoint. It was a fun atmosphere and really set a great tone for the trip. I am glad we finally made it there!

So many wonderful memories to treasure forever! :)

If you, wigd, or anybody else is there at the very end of June next year, we may get to meet up, because it looks like we'll be going sometime the last week of June and staying through about the 6th of July. Our plan is to stay at Vero Beach for probably 5 nights first and then go to WDW and stay somewhere for three nights. The somewhere at WDW changes daily- we will be booking a studio. Our WDW plans are to be lazy... swim, DTD, a character meal somewhere, perhaps the Campfire at Ft. Wilderness one night and to partake in the resort we stay at activities. I think we can actually be busy without hitting the theme parks at all.

The top resorts we are considering are:

The Beach Club- Stormalong Bay would be awesome to stay and really enjoy since we are not planning to go to the parks this trip.

The Boardwalk- again a fun place none of us have stayed before.

AKL or Kidani- I keep being drawn back to staying there like our original reservations. I am certain those two resorts would have plenty to keep us busy!

We have until November for our 7 month window to open up to decide our vacation plans, so I figure things will change .....

We have plenty of points to use next summer, but would like to try to save points and go for a studio, since Luke does not count. However a 1 bedroom is awfully tempting:rolleyes1

Our dates are also based on me not having a ton of snowdays to make up, here is hoping we have a mild winter with less than 5 days off.

Who knows maybe we can have some DIS meets next summer, that would be fun.

Sounds like a great plan! However, I can't imagine going to WDW without going to the parks!!
But since you're not going to the parks, I think AKL or The Beach Club would be an excellent choice for your kids! (esp. AKL with the Savannah View!)

Those all look like fabulous choices. You know what my vote would be, BC is :cloud9:, but AKL looks wonderful too. You're going to have a marvelous vacation, and I'll be praying for a milder winter. You guys got hit hard last winter!!

My vote is either BC or AKV.

I say BC because of Stormalong Bay. Your kids love to swim and there is so much to do at the Boardwalk.

On the other hand, AKV has so many activities through the day and Kidani has that awesome water area.

That's a tough choice!

I was looking into Vero Beach for us next summer. It looks SO nice!

You can't go wrong with either BC or AKL! I've only read one TR with details on Vero Beach so it will be interesting to hear how ya'll liked it. I think that would be a nice vacation.

Hey these are great plans!! :thumbsup2 YAY! Looks like a a fun relaxing Disney vacation! I have head so many positive things about Vero Beach, btw!!! So a great choice!!! November will come soon enough!!! A few days at a Disney resort is definitely a great vacation plus as well! So I am sure whatever it turns out to be you will have a wonderful time! I really enjoyed reading your "Top 10" list -- it was fun recalling those moments that you had with your family. I really enjoyed your TR!! :goodvibes

Here's to NO snow days!!! (or at least not as many!!!! :rotfl:)

Darn it! We will miss you by a mere 3 days! Now my scheming mind is at work.....
I think you all would have a blast at Beach Club with SAB and the Boardwalk in such short walking distance!
BUT.......
We haven't stayed at Kidani yet and I have heard the most wonderful comments about that pool and the resort activities!

You all would have a great time no matter where you stay and you have such awesome choices!

I think your plans for next summer are awesome! Personally, I'd stay at Beach or Yacht club. I think your family would LOVE Stormalong Beach and would really get your DVC points worth there. :thumbsup2

I am allowing DH to have his vacation. We have been to WDW three years in a row, planned mostly by me. The 7 days straight of parks did him and honestly me in last year. I need a more leisurely trip, and honestly I can enjoy Disney sans the parks. Then I can get a lot of park time the next trip.

I like your plans for next summer! I know that wherever you end up staying and whatever you end up doing, you will have a blast!!!

I totally agree. Any of the DVC hotels would be a new experience, so I know we would love it.

Those all look like fabulous choices. You know what my vote would be, BC is :cloud9:, but AKL looks wonderful too. You're going to have a marvelous vacation, and I'll be praying for a milder winter. You guys got hit hard last winter!!

BC is #1 choice, but I am not sure we can get that lucky to get it.

I like your plans for next summer.....they sound SO relaxing!!!! What made you decide to do no parks?

This year with three kids, seven days was a lot, especially with the heat. I want a more relaxing trip, and Luke at almost three could experience a lot more than at almost two. Next year he will still be in need of naps, etc. We won't be at WDW that many days either, so I think the ticket costs would be crazy ...

My vote is either BC or AKV.

Maybe you should come to Vero when we are there..... that would be super fun! Our kids would have fun together.

I am always scanning DVC posts on Vero Beach... I cannot wait to relax at the beach. We have not been since Hannah was almost three so it will be fun to see the kids in the ocean.

Here's to NO snow days!!! (or at least not as many!!!! :rotfl:)

I can get a Disney fix without visiting the parks. We did a 5 day trip one spring break and only hit MK one day... and were totally busy and had a blast at POR.

Darn it! We will miss you by a mere 3 days! Now my scheming mind is at work.....

You are kidding me... three days, that is even with you staying a few after the cruise or not? I am afraid we cannot get there earlier than that ...but I am scheming too.

Such fun plans. Maybe do a spilit stay and check out 2 of them??

DH said no. Vero and one Disney Resort. (to be honest packing and moving three times with three kids makes my head hurt thinking about it). But I honestly am packing light- swimsuits and not much else and I can do free laundry!

I think your plans for next summer are awesome! Personally, I'd stay at Beach or Yacht club. I think your family would LOVE Stormalong Beach and would really get your DVC points worth there. :thumbsup2

BC would be fun while we fit in a studio... and perhaps we could pool hop to the Boardwalk. I would love a vacation of just pool hopping and ranking the pools!

Your plans sound really great - we hope to take a trip sometime as well where we just take advantage of all the actitivies outside of the theme parks. There is SO much to do! The Beach Club looks amazing, and I bet your girls would LOVE that pool! :goodvibes: From what I know about AKL, there are a ton of activites at the resort, both "houses" have a huge list of things going on everyday from cookie decorating, to culinary tours.

There's plenty to do outside the parks. I vote for Beach Club so that you could have Stormalong Bay, and with that, you also get the movies at the beach, so that's two activities. Make a visit to AKL to eat and see the animals, and that's another actvity. Go to DTD to shop and play in the water jets. Sit on the Poly beach eating ice cream and watching Wishes. Maybe a night of mini-golf. You could see a movie. Watch the performers on the Boardwalk. Add in the roasting marshmallows and having hot dogs with Chip and Dale at Fort Wilderness.
- with all that, you have done a whole bunch of different things with plenty to fill a Disney fix without ever entering a park.

Not that you asked, but ....

I love your list MeMom. That is pretty much exactly what I hope to do. Sadly I doubt we can even get all that done in four days or so.

I'm partial to Kidani Village b/c thats where we're staying next...SAB is awesome, but have you seen the pool/water play area at Kidani?? Nice! :thumbsup2 And there arre so many resort activities to chose from!

Oh, and the very best thing about a one-bedroom (besides the separate sleeping area for the kids) is having your own laundry facilities!!! :cloud9:

That alone makes it worth the extra points IMO!! :rotfl:

Happy Planning!

Laura- What a fun trip. I love that you share the ups and downs of traveling with small children, in the heat, with a husband. Luke is getting so big, it seems like you just had him. I hope school is going well. Congrats on your DVC purchase. And for what it's worth... I think you should stay at the BCV's and enjoy the Boardwalk nightlife and action. It'd be a great vacation without entering the parks.
