I know that free dining is being offered as the Brits have been booking it for some time. Its usually offered at the end of the summer mid aug though october but who knows....this year Disney ended up running it thought he end of the year for most folks (it may have been tied to Disney Visa so no flames please)

There is a sticky on the dining plan forum. It has been offered for a few years now in the fall (september ish) but there no one ever knows if they will offer it each year. We went last year and booked the bounceback for this year. There is more info about it in the dining plan area. Yes, it really is free. Basically you stay on site, you book a package deal (you have to have at least one day of park tickets as I remember). It is only offered for a limited time and your dates are limited. Each resort had some rooms that you could book with, but a resort could get booked up. I had already booked our trip last year and then read about it. I got a disney visa (in the past they have been able to book a few days earlier than the general public) and booked it as soon as I saw the announcement come up on this site. Just changed my existing reservation to free dining. In the past it has been the 1 TS and one CS plus snack a day option, but now that they have the all counter service meal dining plan there is a lot of speculation that if they offer free dining it may be the all CS option. You just never know but this site is always up to date and has the best info. Good luck. It save us a ton of money and was very fun to eat at TS restaurants which we wouldn't have without it.

"Free" Dining is a package Disney has offered in the past to encourage travel during hurricane season. To receive free dining, you have to book during a certain time period (I believe sometime in April), and purchase a package deal (at rack rate). Some consider it an amazing deal/savings, others do not.
