Breaking news -Pilot put down Flight 1529 into the Hudson River. Flight was bound for Charlotte. Early reports that they got hit by a couple geese. Seriously. No reports of injuries yet--ABC is reporting passengers had time to put on lifejackets etc. It's still floating. It appears everybody has gotten out okay

Just confirmed that all passengers did get out. But it does look like it is going down. One wing is under water. They are still hoping to get it out!! Thank God everyone got out ok. Prayers to all of them and their families.

Had to be totally weird to have seen that happen. According to Robin Roberts from GMA, she said the pilot put the plane down like he was landing it on a runway.

They are showing some of the people right now and there was this one guy waving and smiling. I'm sure he was thinking, "Yes I'm alive!!!"

I was just about to post this. CNN has full coverage. If you live locally News 12 Long Island, CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox are all covering it too.

What's really WEIRD is that I just listened to the call-in show this morning from Dec. 18 (yes, I'm a little behind!), specifically the call from the Michelle about her fear of flying! Pete and John were talking about the relative safety of flying. Pete's comment was, "We're due (for another domestic airline incident)," which is exactly what I was thinking!

Thank God for an excellent pilot on that flight!

I just got home, and my dad called and told me about this. (I have no internet access at work, so I never know what's going on.) How crazy! Thank goodness everyone is okay.

Yep, the reason I always give a heartfelt "THANK YOU" to the pilots when leaving the plane. Thank God everyone is okay.

Thanks for posting this as my 4 year old owns the TV at the moment. :)

All the people are fine but were there any animals being transported? If so, they probably didn't survive down there in baggage. :sad1:

I have increased confidence in flying now, I didn't believe planes could actually land on water, I thought they would just sink! I actually feel a lot safer!:goodvibes

I was waiting for my USAir flight to Charlotte from Houston when I heard the news. Things were very quiet, I heard someone talking on the phone about "the news", so I got on the iPhone to see what was happening. They were not reporting it on the news at the airport. I'm so glad everyone got out safe.

I'm glad everyone is ok and am always amazed by the response of emergency services in NY. When I first heard of the crash I was wondering which Yankee reliever was flying..a bit of cryptic humor I guess but it popped into my head.

I don’t let the crashes make me more afraid to fly. It is still much safer than driving.

I was in Hoboken that nite. Which is cross the hudson river on jersey side. I saw all blue and red lites all along the westside highway in nyc. Thank God all those people are safe. It was really cold at that time.

My friend works for Bank of America, and shuttles back in forth from Charlotte to NY for the MLynch merger.. She was at the Airport and tried to get on that flight but they were full so she ended up on the 7pm flight instead..

We use an other airlines but the same plane. This makes me feel good about this plane. Also I feel good when I see those older guys in the drivers seat, they have been around a bit.

Thank God that all of them are already safe. May God guide them always and don't let this to happen again. :)

My DD works for the Hudson River Park Trust. They have a classroom on the pier right next to the Intrepid. (That's where we met her recently for lunch.) She wasn't at that site when this happened but at the main office which is on the waterfront 4 blocks further up.

They heard the sirens but didn't give them much attention at first. They thought they were the usual drills that they always conduct.

Believe me, this gave me a big case of the "what ifs?" She was definitely in harms way had that plane not landed the way it did.

It's definitely a miracle. Coincidentally, my other DD was here from Charlotte last week. (They drove, but she has been on that flight out of La Guardia.)

It really is amazing.

The US Airways crash landing in the Hudson River reminds me of the August 2005 crash-landing of the Air France Airbus A340 in Toronto. No one died in that chrash landing of that plane. The next next day I flew to St Louis for 5 days I was worried about the plane I flew on I flew on Southwest Airlines. I had to do a layover at Chicago-Midway which I was nervous about that Airport. When we landed at Chicago-Midway we bounced 2 times before we touched down. It's a Miracle that US Airways Plane was able to land in the water and no one died. God Bless that Brave Pilot:thumbsup2
